Review of Locked in Silence by Shiloh Walker

Release day 9/20/2011

by Shiloh Walker

Dying is hard enough. Coming back to life is brutal.
Grimm’s Circle, Book 5

Vanya has been hunting and killing demons ever since one of them scarred her face and killed her sister. Correction—since she was forced to kill the demon possessing her sister.

Then some sort of angel offers her a deal she can’t refuse—that if she becomes one of them, she gets to kill even more demons. Tonight, she’s made that choice. The death she smells on the air will be her own—and she welcomes it.

Silence feels a darkness is looming. Change—something he has every reason not to welcome. The deeply hidden memories that robbed him of his past, of his own name, render him unfit to teach anyone the ways of the Grimm. Yet here he is in the dankest sex club in town, waiting to assume his charge—after he stands by and watches her die.
When Vanya awakes, their complicated, dangerous dance begins. And so does something else—a searing need that blisters along their unexpected mental connection. Silence shouldn’t be drawn to his student, but once they touch, he can’t think of a reason to stop. Even though acting out their darkest desires puts them in more danger than they realize.
Warning: This book contains sex-starved demons, lonely angels, demon-angel sandwiches, blood, violence, death and a happy-ever-after.

My thoughts:
Oh Shiloh has done it again.  She has sucked me back into the world of the Grimm’s.  Once I am there I don’t want to leave. I just want to hang out with the Grimm’s and learn all of their secrets. And I really don’t want to give away any spoilers.  So while my review is short let me tell you to LOVED this book.

Locked in Silence introduces us to a new Grimm: Silence.  He has been alone for as long as he can remember.  Silence thinks alone is good.  No one gets hurt when you are alone.  But that is all about to change.  When his boss Will tells him he is getting a new trainee, Silences world will never truly be silence again.

Locked in Silence gets two thumbs up from me.  I truly love Shiloh Walker and her Grimm’s Circle series. For me they can do no wrong.  I look forward to seeing where we go next in book 6 *big grin*.   If you would like to read an excerpt of Locked in Silence please click HERE and it will take you to Shiloh’s website.

If you have not stepped into Shiloh Walker’s Grimm’s Circle World you are missing out.  Please check out Shiloh and her Grimm’s on her website (HERE)

Huge thank you to Shiloh & Nicole for letting me read Silence & Vanya’s book.

Gabriel’s Inferno Tour Stop My Review & a Giveaway

PhotobucketGabriel’s Inferno
Author: Sylvain Reynard

Professor Gabriel Emerson, a specialist in Dante and the art of seduction, believes he has already earned his exile to the lower circles of hell. Since redemption is impossible, there is no reason to refrain from indulging in a life of pleasurable sin, using his notorious good looks and sophisticated charm as a means to gratify his every whim. But when he meets Julia Mitchell, a brilliant, lovely, and innocent grad student with the achingly familiar eyes of an angel, all of his cynical convictions are challenged. Her mysterious allure and the havoc she wreaks on his self-satisfied existence cause him to lash out at her, while her quiet beauty and innate goodness consistently undermine his control, tempting him beyond measure. Despite surviving a traumatic childhood, nothing has shaken Julia’s faith that redemption is possible for everyone-everyone but her. Her unworthiness torments her, since the only man she will ever love has managed to forget her very existence, failing to even recognize her when they reconnect. Too naive to see that Gabriel’s hostility is a mask for his increasing obsession with her, Julia forces him to come to grips with his past while she continues to unwittingly torment his senses. His fascination grows into a dangerous preoccupation, for Julia is forbidden fruit . . .

A Review of Haunted Hearts by Carolyn Rosewood

Haunted Heart by Carolyn Rosewood
All Rowena Sommers wants is a quiet life away from Hollywood gossip and her vicious Oscar-winning ex-boyfriend Brett Fontaine. Her career and reputation in a shambles, thanks to Brett, Rowena returns home to restore her ancestral home and soak up some familiar, hometown sympathy. But having won a twenty-million-dollar defamation suit against Brett hasn’t endeared her to the hometown fans, and the man she’s hired to restore the old home is none other than the ex-jock who used her cruelly in high school to win a bet. And now a paranormal investigator is telling her the place may be haunted.

Van Whitney is no stranger to gossip. He’s been struggling to keep his family’s restoration business afloat, and when he agrees to restore Rowena’s home, he vows to keep their relationship professional. His childhood friend has become a beautiful, sexy woman, but she attracts gossip like flies to honey. When strange things start happening at the house, Van discovers secrets upon secrets, and a plot that may be other than it seems. But his attraction to Rowena might be more dangerous than anything from the past…

Natasha’s Thoughts:
First off let me start by saying how much this story surprised me. It was a mystery and romance all rolled into one which I LOVED!! I loved how Carolyn wrote the story without all the extra drama of secrets and let the characters be open and honest; really say what was on their minds. Sometimes it is so refreshing to see the characters just open up and see where things will lead. I loved this story and I could barley put it down! I loved how Rowena was vulnerable and strong all at the same time; and how Van was so genuine and heartfelt. It was such a fun read and kept me interested the entire time. Just because of this book I am going in search of more Carolyn Rosewood books, she’s amazing and has a fan in me!

Review of Hot Vampire Kiss by Lisa Renee Jones

This is the first book in a hot, erotic vampire series.

Explicit — hot!
In blood they will find destiny and the eternal bond of passion…
The Wardens series begins with a trilogy of three brothers—Evan, Aiden and Taylor Brooks are brothers (in order by human age: 34, 32, 28), who were early settlers of the town of New Braunfels, Texas, in the 1500s. When the town was haunted by a series of brutal animal attacks that left a half-dozen townsmen murdered, the Brooks brothers took things into their own hands. Armed and ready for action, they set out into the wilderness, determined to find this animal and kill it. What they found was a female vampire who decided the brothers were scrumptious morsels, worth keeping around for a lifetime. She attacked the brothers and turned them to vampires.
No sooner did she turn them, though, than another vampire appeared and killed her. This vampire declared himself a “Warden” of the Vampire Council. Wardens uphold the rules of the Vampire race, and report to the Council. Killing humans is punishable by death, and their ‘Maker’ had broken that rule. The brothers were then taken to the Council, where they were taught how to survive without killing, how to mingle with humans as if one of them, when to move on from a location so that they would not be suspected as vampires, and most importantly, who their enemies were and how to defeat them.
In the end the brothers were granted a financial dowry that had belonged to their Maker and given the choice of freedom, under Council rule, or an alternative—to become Wardens.
Now, the brothers travel together as Wardens, tracking outlaw vampires, killing them, and protecting innocent humans. It is their eternal duty.
HOT VAMPIRE KISS
Book one, Evan’s story
The werewolf population is entrenched in a century long civil war, and now they are plagued by a virus that is turning wolves into killers. The Evans brothers pursue one such rogue werewolf to Temple, Texas. It is in Temple that Evan encounters a beautiful nurse named Marissa who instantly melts the hundred years of ice running through his veins. When she is brutally attacked by the wolf, he breaks the rules of the Vampire Council and uses his blood to save her. Now, if he doesn’t kill the wolf by the next full moon, Marissa will become a killer wolf, and he will be sentenced to death.
Book 2, Aiden’s story — Hot Vampire Seduction — Late 2011
Book 3, Troy’s story — Hot Vampire Touch — Late 2011

My Thoughts:

Okay Yum, who doesn’t love brothers. Hot brother… Hot Vampire Brothers!!! YUM!!!  Did I say YUM yet?  YYYYUUUUUMMMMMMMMMM!!

Lisa does a great job of creating a new vampire world.  A world where Vampires are kept in check or they are put to death.  The world of the Vampire Wardens. But those in charge may not always be trust worthy. The Brooks brothers will learn that the hard way.

I really enjoyed this 1st installment of Lisa’s Vampire Warden Series. Evan & Marissa are great together. They learn very quickly to trust one another and learn that sometime you can’t fight chemistry or fate.  No matter how many walls you build up, there is going to be one person that can break through them.

Over all I really, really enjoyed this short story.  My only problem was that I think that Marissa adjusted way too quickly to the changes that fell upon her. But maybe it was the alcohol or her over whelming urge to be with Evan.  But either way I loved Evan and Marissa together. I hope that we get to see them some in the next two books. I am looking forward to Aiden (Hot Vampire Seduction) & Troy’s (Hot Vampire Touch) books.

If you are looking for a really good, fast, hot short read. I would encourage you to go grab a copy of Hot Vampire Kiss by Lisa Renee Jones.

KLB Blog Tour—Decadent Dreams Review & giveaway

Published July 26th 2011

Lazyday Publishing
119 pages
Erotic Novella
Beth Mason seemingly has it all. A successful bakery/café called Decadent Dreams, good friends, and a nice home in Stamford, New York.
After her previous boyfriend dumped her six months before for not spending enough time with him, Beth decided that she had been through enough and wanted more in a relationship. Throwing herself back into the dating scene, Beth decided to go onto an online dating website called, ‘A Foreign Affair.’
Enjoying the different types of men from all over the world that ‘A Foreign Affair’ catered to, Beth became struck by a handsome man from Belarus named Yuri who was the former manager of the famed Rhapsody night club. After realizing that they had a lot in common, the two struck up a close, intense relationship.
Yuri, who’s been depressed since his nightclub burned to the ground and watching his best friend’s parents both die from a terminal illness, decided to take Beth up on an invite and join her for a fun-filled weekend in New York City.
With both of them full of emotions, will the weekend be just what they needed or more than they bargained for?

My thoughts:
This book almost makes me wish I was single so I could try my hand at online dating.  But I am pretty sure that my online date would end badly. Unlike Beth & Yuri’s weekend of sex, a little sight seeing, dance, more sex and trying to figure out where they go from here.  I would like to think in a perfect world that this could happen but like I said I am sure that my online date would turn out to be an Ax murder or something.

I like this short story. I didn’t love it.. I kinda felt a little ho-hum about it.  Not sure what was missing for me that I couldn’t love it. Maybe I never connected to the characters.  It was a little slow at the beginning, but then picked up at the end.   I really liked the idea behind the story, but a last the story it self didn’t grab me enough for me to love.

Review of Primal Law by JD Tyler

Primal Law
by JD Tyler
Book 1 in the Alpha Pack Series

Meet the Alpha Pack, a top-secret military team of wolf-shifters fighting the most dangerous predators in the world, human and nonhuman. After a massacre leaves Jaxon Law crippled, he must relearn how to fight-and battle the anger and guilt threatening to overwhelm him. But when Jax rescues a beautiful woman who awakens his primal instincts, he is unprepared for the dangers that lie ahead. Soon he must decide if the deep connection he feels with Kira is worth defying the ultimate shifter law…

My thoughts:

OH MY!!!! JD Tyler is a very talented author. I am so thankful that she wrote this story and I am chomping at the bit for Black Magic (a novella 2012) & book 2 Savage Awakening (4/12) .
Primal Law introduces us to a band of brother who were attacked by unknown creatures and left for dead in the mountains of Afghanistan.  But some did survive, and they were forever changed by the attack. Fast forward to another attack, but this one is caused by betrayal of someone that was close to one of the Alpha team members.  Someone close to Jaxon Law.  He trusted the wrong person and his team members paid the ultimate price with their lives.  Jax has vowed to never trust a woman again.
Kira is a girl on the run.  She has broken the number one rule as an employee.  Never steal from your employer and Kira’s time has just run out.  The goons from her now former-employer have finally caught up with her in a dark empty parking lot.  Just when Kira thinks this is the end, her Knight in shiny armor, no wait, it is Silver Fur (?) shows up and saves the day.
Jaxon & Kira are drawn to each other like moths to a flame. Even if they try their best to fight it, Jax even tries turning to another woman to scratch the itch he has when he is around Kira (which I was not very happy about Jax!!!!).  But when Jax sees his fellow team member put the moves on Kira all bets are off.
Primal Law is a great 1st book in the series. Jax & Kira are a great team.  I am looking forward to seeing them in future books.  I will say that JD killed me with the ending.  I had so many emotions when I finished this book; I had a hard time falling asleep.  So many questions where running thought my head…. I can’t wait to see what happens in Aric’s book Savage Awakening (April 2012)
Watch for my interview with JD on the 19th.  We will be giving away a copy of Primal Law to one lucky follower…

Review of Her Slave part 1 by Lisandra Lantigua

“Her Slave” by Lisandra Lantigua

Nelly & Ryan have been dating for a year now, Nelly wants to finally explore who she truly is… with Ryan, but he will have to give himself entirely. Is that something he’s willing to risk, or will he
leave her hot, wet and single?

Order Here

Guest Reviewer Natasha’s Thoughts:

This was a really fun short read. It’s obvious from the start that Nelly is nervous about this other side of herself that’s she’s never really explored; and she wants to share with the man she loves. Her own insecurities and fears about how he will react or if he’ll still love her surface and you see that uncertainty that makes it so real. The love between the two is evident and Ryan is such an awesome guy. I like how Lisandra didn’t just throw Nelly into this new lifestyle and expect everything to come to her; she incorporated friends to help and it played out wonderfully. I certainly recommend this story for a nice fun read that will make the wheels in your head start turning with the question…hmmm what if?

Interview & Giveaway with Lisandra Lantigua

Hi Lisandra, Welcome to Books-n-Kisses.  I am happy to have you here.  Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down and talk to me about you’re two short stories….
Lisandra: Hi Kelly. I’m very glad to be here! *waves*
Books-n-Kisses:  Shall we get started?
Lisandra: Yes!  *sips coffee*
BK: How did you come up with the idea for your stories?
Lisandra: Well, I’ve always been an avid reader, once I discovered Erotica it was like something opened inside my head. I started picturing my own scenarios, my own characters. And one day I decided to sit and write them down.
BK: Tell us 10 fun facts about yourself
Lisandra: Wow.. 10 things huh?! Hmm… 1. I love tinkerbell, 2. I’m a Harry Potter fan, 3. I snort when I laugh to hard, 4. I dance when I’m excited, 5.I love Smarties, 6.Im addicted to coffee *sips more coffee*, 7.I can’t live without candles.
I think that’s it. 7 facts, not too shabby eh?

BK: Share with us your favorite line out of Her Slave.

Lisandra: It’s not so much a line but here it is:
“Yes. Saturday “He said, almost breathless.
“Ok, my house. 7 pm” She leaned over the table, wanting to push him, she leaned closer to him
“Say, yes Mistress”
“Fuck….. Yess. Yes Mistress”
BK: Share with us your favorite line out of Her Master

Lisandra: This is from Manny to Lucy:”Beg for it baby, beg your Master to let you come”

BK: Who do you think has been your biggest writing influence?
Lisandra: Jasmine Haynes. I have read several within the Erotica genre and they are all incredibly great but, she has a way of making you feel what the characters feel. It always amazes me.
BK:  What do you do when you get writers block?
Lisandra: I do anything else but write, I try to forget the story I’m stuck on. After a while it comes back, I try not to stress it. I know that even my muse needs a vacay from time to time… who can blame her. *shrugs*
BK: What is the most challenging & Rewarding part about being a writer?
Lisandra: The challenge for me is actually making time to write. I’m a stay at home mom and by the time everyone’s in bed and I have time to write I’m tired to, but if I don’t write I feel weird, it’s like therapy.
BK: Do you feel you have learned anything from any of your characters
Lisandra: Oh yes! Especially Jade (part 3, not published yet J ) When her book comes out you will understand why.
BK:: Can you share what you are currently working on?

Lisandra: *sips more coffee* Sure. I’m almost done with Part 3 in the LIR series, which is called “Her Submission” and I’m also working on another story (not part of LIR) that I hope to release by October.

BK:: What do you do when you are not writing?
Lisandra: I read J I think that reading makes you a better writer, so I read about writing and I read just for fun.
BK: Favorite all-time author? And why?
Lisandra: I love JR Ward, Jaci Burton, Maya Banks, Shayla Black, Zane, Gena Showalter, Jasmine Haynes, Brynn Paulin, Edgar Allen Poe, Lori Foster, Kimberly Zant to name a few. And I like them because with everyone of their books that I’ve read I’ve learned something, like their story (fiction or not) has changed me in some way.
BK: One book everyone should read
Lisandra: Wow, that’s a tough Q. Hmm, Lover Unbound by JR Ward.
BK: Your most interesting writing quirk
Lisandra: I need music to get into a scene.
BK: Lisandra, Thank you so much for stopping by and letting us learn a little more about you and your books.  What do you say we give a copy of Her Slave & Her Master away to one lucky follower?

Review of Sex-O-Matic by Vee Michaels

Sex-O-Matic
By Vee Michaels

Holly is a struggling writer who does random product testing and reviews to make ends meet. When she faints in front of her sexy UPS guy, Marv, he comes to her rescue. He’s curious about her product testing, and together they open the nondescript brown box containing her latest assignment: the Sex-O-Matic, a machine that guarantees its user multiple orgasms. Being the gentleman he is, Marv naturally offers to help Holly test it. How can she resist?

My thoughts:
Who hasn’t had the delivery man fantasy at least once in their life? Come on you know you have……. See now don’t you feel better admitting it?
Okay, back to the story.
Holly has been down on her luck since losing her job, but the bright part of her day is when her Uber hot UPS man Marv (whom she has a HUGE crush on) delivers her daily packages.  Holly has never worked up enough courage to ask him in, but today fate as other plans for her.
This was a great fun short story that I read while eating my morning cereal.  I really enjoyed Holly and Marv’s reaction to what is in the box.  And what a great night they have with it.
If you are looking for a great quickie give Sex-O-Matic a spin…….

HAPPY RELEASE DAY Darynda!!!!!!!! My review of Second Grave on the Left

Second Grave on the Left
by Darynda Jones

Charley Davidson, Grim Reaper Extraordinaire, is back in this sexy, suspenseful novel of supernatural shenanigans
When Charley is rudely awakened in the middle of the night by her best friend who tells her to get dressed quickly and tosses clothes out of the closet at her, she can’t help but wonder what Cookie’s up to. Leather scrunch boots with a floral miniskirt? Together? Seriously? Cookie explains that a friend of hers named Mimi disappeared five days earlier and that she just got a text from her setting up a meet at a coffee shop downtown. They show up at the coffee shop, but no Mimi. But Charley finds a message on the bathroom wall. Mimi left a clue, a woman’s name. Mimi’s husband explains that his wife had been acting strange since she found out an old friend of hers from high school had been found murdered a couple weeks prior. The same woman Mimi had named in her message.
Meanwhile, Reyes Alexander Farrow (otherwise known as the Son of Satan. Yes. Literally) has left his corporeal body and is haunting Charley. He’s left his body because he’s being tortured by demons who want to lure Charley closer. But Reyes can’t let that happen. Because if the demons get to Charley, they’ll have a portal to heaven. And if they have a portal to heaven…well, let’s just say it wouldn’t be pretty. Can Charley handle hot nights with Reyes and even hotter days tracking down a missing woman? Will Cookie ever get a true fashion sense? And is there enough coffee and chocolate in the world to fuel them as they do?

My Thoughts:
I really enjoyed this second installment of Charley Davidson’s adventure. I struggled writing this review because I didn’t want to give too much away so I will keep this spoiler free while teasing you.

Charley finds herself trying to solve multiple cases at one time… Trying not to get killed by multiple people… and trying to hold on to everything dear to her.   But in the end Charley loses. Loses in a very big way…which Charley many never recover from. *sniff, sniff*

I love Charley.  I can’t wait for Third Grave Dead Ahead.  Let’s just say that the dear sweet Darynda has made me so antsy by the time I finished Second Grave I am not sure I will be able to wait for Third Grave Dead Ahead……

D, I am not sure I love you more or hate you after reading this book… Okay, fine you got me… I love you more….  *wink, wink*

If you have not started this series you must.. Charley is kick@$$ girl.. Reyes is a Super-Hot bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks and Darynda is a FREAKIN FABULOUS author.

You will laugh, cry, curse and wonder in the famous words of Cee Lo Green… *WHY, WWWHHHYYY, WWWWHHHHHHYYYYY DARYNDA?*

Watch on August 18th with my interview with Darynda and we have a little something special planned……

My review of Masters at Arms by Kallypso Masters

Book 1
Ebook By Kallypso Masters
Published: Aug. 09, 2011
Category:Fiction » Erotica » BDSM
Words: 58082 (approximate)
Language: English

Master at Arms begins the journey of three men whose paths cross at one of the darkest points in their lives. Two will rescue the women destined to love them in this story. All will come to terms with who they are. The three Doms will pursue or be pursued by their lady loves, and reunite with each other at their Masters at Arms BDSM club, in the next three novels in the “Rescue Me” series.
My Review:
Masters at Arms is Kallypso Masters (Kally) first book in her Rescue Me series.  In Masters at Arms, Kally introduces us to three men: Master Adam, Master Marc and Master Damian.  The first book is broken into five sections.  Each of the first three sections focuses on one of the Masters and gives us a brief look into their lives and possibly their future.  In the final sections we learn how the Masters befriend each other and help each other heal both physically and mentally to form an unbreakable bond.
Kally takes you on a roller coaster of emotions in Masters at Arms. You will laugh, cry and shake your head asking why, all the while leaving you wanting more.  And OH you will want MORE!!!
I will say that there are a few very powerful scenes in this book that on my first read I had a hard time with.  But after my second read I understand that certain things have to happen in order for the characters to grow and change.
I want to say a special THANK YOU to Kally for letting me read and review Masters at Arms.  Kally, I have enjoyed the journey that you have taken me on with the Masters in this first book (Masters at Arms) and I hoped that in some small way I helped.  I can’t wait to jump in to Nobody’s Angel (Marc’s story), Nobody’s Hero (Adam’s Story), and Nobody’s Perfect Damian’s story) .

The Masters Series by Lisa Renee Jones

Eight years ago, Sarah Michaels locked eyes with Ryan White at a sinful sex club. His dominant presence exuded erotic promises and aroused part of Sarah that she didn’t recognize. But Ryan was her family’s chief rival in the candy business, the very definition of forbidden fruit.
Since that night, Sarah has tried to deny that she wants what Ryan offers, that she actually wants to be dominated. Yet she can’t stop fantasizing about him. When Ryan invites her to his elite club where power and pleasure go hand-in-hand, the temptation to explore her suppressed desires is too strong to resist. Is she ready to give up control to Ryan—a man who might never give it back?

My Thoughts:
I enjoyed this short story.  Lisa does a great job of building up the relationship between Sarah & Ryan. I almost died from anticipation from these two.  But while the sex scene was a little light it was perfect their relationship.  If it was any more complex or involved it would not have worked for Ryan & Sarah.  My only complaint is that Lisa sucked me into Ryan & Sarah’s relationship, and left me wanting more.  Wanting to know what happens next for them.

Three years ago, Darla Rogers’s ex, Jacob Remington, left on a top secret Special Forces mission and didn’t return—at least, not to her. They had broken up after he pushed her to the erotic edge, asking her to trust him completely…and she pushed him away.
Now Jacob is back, revealing his membership in a secret society that enjoys games of dominance and submission. This time, Darla is determined prove she belongs in his world. Even if that means embracing her darkest desires with Jacob and the society’s leader….

My thoughts:
This second trip into The Masters Society doesn’t disappoint.  Lisa had me hooked from the get go.  I loved learning about Darla & Jacob’s history.  The fear that she feels for where their relationship was heading and why she runs.  But when fate brings Darla a second chance at the man she loves how far is she willing to go?  While I am a little upset about Jacob’s methods, in the end it may have been the best thing for them.
The Masters #3

Book store owner Kim Baker has a serious crush on Dr. Blake Morgan—an attraction that only gets stronger when he shows her an erotic book and invites her on a night of sensual exploration at his private club, the Society.
She’s drawn to his sense of power and dominant sexuality…and can’t help but fantasize about being controlled by him in every way. But as Blake teaches Kim to claim her pleasure and lose her inhibitions, he may be the one in danger of losing control….

My thoughts:
I really enjoyed this story a lot.  I loved how Lisa shows the softer side of one of the Masters.  Blake forces Kimberly to face her fears by entering the Society. But it back fires on him, she runs. Now it is Blake’s turn to face his fears.  His fear of his feelings for Kimberly, but will it be too little too late?
My over all review of the series:
I enjoyed all of these short stories but I think I would have to say #3 Exposed & Pleasured had to be my favorite.  I loved to see Blake fall.  Loved to see him struggle to not fall and the moment that he realizes he has not chance
Thank you, Lisa for allowing me to read and review these short stories for you.  I enjoyed every minute of them.
