my review of Making Her Night by Keri Ford

Making Her Nights

Chief Deputy Mike Gabel is the man in charge in Apple Trail. No one gives him more trouble than a certain blonde. While her stunts are frustrating to deal with, it’s the constant way she keeps him trapped in knots.
Tiffany McBride has a reputation for being a trouble maker. She’s been betting and causing trouble since her parents died when she was a teenager. What looks like a young woman sowing her oats, it’s actually desperate measures to gamble for extra money to put food on the table.
When these two acknowledge their attraction, sparks fly…that is if Mike’s public position can survive Tiffany’s frowned upon reputation.
My thoughts:
Keri has done it again.  She has made me fall in love with Apple Trail and it’s occupants all over again.  In Making Her Nights we get to learn more about the towns Chief Deputy and the one woman who makes his life hell.  Both as a officer of the law and a man.    Tiffany is a girl just trying to keep her head above water.  That is until Mike Gabel completely unravels her resolve.
If you have not read any of Keri’s Apple Trail series books I highly recommend them

My review of Infinite Betrayal by Donnelly Mackenzie

Infinite Betrayal (book 1 in the Infinity Series)
By Donnelly Mackenize
Order HERE
Mina Roarke had always been told she was special. In what way, she never fully understood until circumstances led her down a path of adrenaline-charged danger, blazing sexual heat and ultimate betrayal.

Mathias, a warrior for a secret shifter race known as The Coteri, has been ordered to protect Mina at all costs. Although his oath to protect her is paramount, can he rein in his animal instincts long enough to not claim the one person he’s forbidden to have?

My Thoughts:
WOW…. Great 1st book in a new series and I do believe that the ladies will not be able to stop at three.
Infinite Betrayal introduces us to a new world of shifters.  The Coteri.  The Coteri’s are not your average shifters.  While they have one form that is the strongest some can shift into other forms.  The Coteri’s are a closely guarded secret; their role is to protect the human race and nature at the same time.
Mina is an independent, witty, and strong and her world just crumbled at her feet with the death of her mother.  Not knowing what to do at the loss of the only family she has ever had, Mina stubbles across old letters from a man to her mother.  A man she thought was long dead, her Father.  With a gentle nudge from her best friend, Mina sets out on a journey to find answers about her father and why he left them so many years ago.
Mathis’ job is simple.  Protect Mina by any means necessary or the king will, let’s just say it would not be pretty.  But like any good plan, things don’t always go right.  The minute Mathis sees Mina all bets are off.  He is no longer a mission to protect Mina, he is on a mission to make her his, even if it is forbidden.
I really, really enjoyed this story.  Mina has a way of bring these big, tough warriors to their knees.  And by the end of the she loves the power this gives her over Mathis (in a good way).
Gayle & Robyn did a brilliant job of making me fall in love with the good guys even the smart ass ones and making me fully hate the bad guys.  There are some great digs by Talon (book2) towards Tre.  There are some very hot love scenes (last for chapters). There is trust that is tested; broken and ultimately eternal love is found.
If you have not read this book. I would HIGHLY recommend it and I am so looking forward to book to Infinite Surrender.

My review of Bad Kitty by Cari Quinn

Bad Kitty
By Cari Quinn
Order from Amazon HERE
Reformed bad girl Nikki Carson has spent the past year trying to forget her boss’s Halloween party and the unbelievable sex she had with her boss’s hot twin, Patrick Nolan. Patrick hasn’t mentioned that night since, much to Nikki’s endless disappointment.
Years of following in the wake of his womanizing brother cause Patrick to wonder if Nikki even knows which twin she slept with. He can’t believe she could possibly prefer him over her slick, polished boss. That doesn’t mean he’s been able to stop fantasizing about taking her again. Against the wall. On the floor. Everywhere.
It’s Halloween again, and trick or treat takes on a whole new meaning when Nikki and Patrick go for round two. Especially since Nikki’s come prepared with a Domme kitty costume meant to drive Patrick wild. And this kitty’s ready to show her claws if she doesn’t get what she wants…
My thoughts:
HOLY WOW!!!!!!  This was a FABOULUS, fast, sexy read.  I was so excited when Cari asked me to read this story for her and do a review.  Even writing this review I want to go back and re-read. I don’t want to give away too much in this short story.  But getting dressed up for a Halloween party never sounded so good.
If you are looking for a great HOT, Sexy read I would HIGHLY recommend you  buy a copy of Bad Kitty and experience it for yourself.

My Review of How to Worship a Goddess

By Stephanie Julian
Book Two in the Forgotten Goddesses series
HE’S EXACTLY WHAT SHE’S ALWAYS WANTED
Lucy was once the beloved Goddess of the Moon. These days the goddesses of the Etruscan pantheon are all but forgotten. The only rituals she enjoys now are the local hockey games, where one ferociously handsome player inflames her divine blood…
AND SHE UNLEASHES HIM LIKE A FORCE OF NATURE…
Brandon Stevenson is one hundred percent focused on the game, until he looks up and sees a celestial beauty sitting in the third row. A man could fall hard for a distraction like that…
My thoughts:
In How to Worship a Goddess, we meet Lucy, the forgotten Goddess of the Moon.  But while the rest of the world may have forgotten her, in her little neck of the woods she still has followers who are willing to worship her and give her just enough power to protect them.  But Lucy knows that destiny has other plans for her and no matter how much she wants to run the time is coming that she must face the future.   The only time Lucy feels any true happiness is when she is watching the star play of the local hockey time.  She has been pinning after Brandon for 2 long years but know she can’t ever follow her heart’s desire.  That is until fate takes the choice out of her hands and delivers Brandon at her front door.
Lucy and Brandon are so HOT together and each is willing to do anything for the other.  There was not one moment that I didn’t love this story and really didn’t want it to end.  I want know more about Lucy & Brandon.  I hope that we will see them more in future books.
How to Worship a Goddess is book 2 of the Forgotten Goddesses Series (December 2011) and my 1st Stephanie Julian book (yes I know I read book 2 before book 1 *Gasp*).  I have to say I have already begged and pleaded with Stephanie to hurry up and finish book 3.  I can’t wait to see what happens next in this world.   I was so very fortunate to get a chance to read this book early so I can tell you all how totally wonderful Stephanie Julian is and how wonderful the Forgotten Goddesses Series is.
HIGHLY recommended must read!!

My review of Heart of Darkness by Lauren Dane

Bound By Magick, Book 1
Berkley Sensation (November 1, 2011)
Meriel Owen, next in line to control the largest organization of witches in the country, is asked to investigate the owner of a notorious club reportedly siphoning magic from the font of the Clan. It’s a direct violation of the Clan Code of Conduct, but one look at Dominic Bright and Meriel’s willing to make a deal. One taste of the sexually feral outlaw witch, and she’s eager to go further: he’s her bond mate, a legal conduit into the world of Clan witches and their magic.
Playing by the rules isn’t Dominic’s style, but bonding with Meriel—night after explosive night—is. However, Meriel has unwittingly invited someone else into her world: Dominic’s mother, a dangerous and poisonously influential magic addict whose lust for death and power corrupts all she touches. Now her shadow is closing in on Meriel, her Clan, and the man Meriel loves, and it’s casting them all into the inescapable heart of darkness.
My thoughts:
Meriel is a great heroine.  She is tough as nails, yet sweet, take her job very serious, yet is always fair and some day will be the leader of her clan.  But Meriel is missing something, not something, someone, her bond mate.  Without him she will never ascend to the witch she needs to be to lead. Not knowing if her bond-mate will be the love of her life or only a mate to increase her power Meriel has not been a hurry to find him.  Until she is told of an intruder in area that is using her clan’s magic to protect his club.  When Meriel gets to the club that last thing she ever expected was Dominic Bright.  Her bond mate.
Dominic Bright, is a tough talking, royal pain in the butt alpha type, that deep down is sweet and protective.  Dominic believes that he doesn’t needs anyone or anything that is until the clan that he has been stealing magic from sends out a witch to talk to him.  The minute he sees Meriel talking to Simon he knows something is going to change.  He doesn’t know what it is about Meriel, but she is going to be his one way or another.
Dominic & Meriel are so perfect for each other.  They know when to coddle each other and when to take a step back, even if it takes Dominic a little longer to learn.  But when threatened by the mother that Dominic never knew.  Both Dominic and Meriel will do everything in their powers to protect each other and the witches in their clan.
I really enjoyed this story. I love the new world that Lauren has created for us in the Bound by Magick series.  My only fault with this book is that I think Dominic’s mother get off way to easy. I would love to have seen her suffer more.  I look forward to Chaos Burning (bk2, scheduled for June 2012) which is Simon’s book (YUM).  If you have not read a Lauren Dane book I would highly recommend you check her out. And if you would like pre-order Heart of Darkness click HERE
I have to say a huge THANK YOU to Lauren Dane for sending me Heart of Darkness to read for review.

My review If You Hear Her (ARC) by Shiloh Walker

(The Ash Trilogy #1)
by Shiloh Walker
First in a new romantic suspense trilogy

A CRY IN THE WOODS
The scream Lena Riddle hears in the woods behind her house is enough to curdle her blood—she has no doubt that a woman is in real danger. Unfortunately, with no physical evidence, the local law officers in small-town Ash, Kentucky, dismiss her claim. But Lena knows what she heard—and it leaves her filled with fear and frustration.
Ezra King is on leave from the state police, but he can’t escape the guilty memories that haunt his dreams. When he sees Lena, he is immediately drawn to her. He aches to touch her—to be touched by her—but is he too burdened by his tragic past to get close?
When Ezra hears her story of an unknown woman’s screams, his instincts tell him that Lena’s life is also at risk—and his desire to protect her is as fierce as his need to possess her.
My Thoughts:
If You HearHer takes you on a gut wrenching journey into the small town of Ash, Kentucky, where not everything is as it seems. Some time you have to listen to learn the truth.

From the moment Ezra sees Lena he is smitten with her.  Lena has always known that people stare at her, it is because she different.  Lena is blind, but she likes it when Ezra stares at her.  When Ezra asks her to dinner she can’t say No.  After a wonderful dinner and a smoldering hot kiss, Ezra leaves her but never call as promised.  After waiting and waiting Lena is determined to write him off, that is until she hears a scream for help in the middle of the night.

With no evidence of someone in need of help in Lena’s woods, the police department is at a standstill, but Lena knows what she heard, and knows someone is in trouble. When strange things start happening around town everyone is on edge.  Time is running out and if they don’t find who was in the woods……….

I really enjoyed this first installment of the Ash Trilogy and can’t wait to see what happen next. I am hoping that the many questions I have will all be answered over the next two books.  If you are looking for a romantic suspense that will leave you wanting more and worried for the residents of Ash, Kentucky.  I would highly suggest checking out Shiloh’s new series.

Huge, Thank you to Shiloh Walker for allowing me to read her story early and review it for her.

If You HearHer is the first book in Shiloh Walkers new Ash Trilogy release date 10/25/2011

Natasha’s review of Beach Rental by Grace Greene

Beach Rental – by Grace Greene
On the Crystal Coast of North Carolina, in the small town of Emerald Isle…

Juli Cooke, hard-working and getting nowhere fast, marries a dying man, Ben Bradshaw, for a financial settlement, not expecting he will set her on a journey of hope and love. The journey brings her to Luke Winters, a local art dealer, but Luke resents the woman who married his sick friend and warns her not to hurt Ben—and he’s watching to make sure she doesn’t.

Until Ben dies and the stakes change.

Framed by the timelessness of the Atlantic Ocean and the brilliant blue of the beach sky, Juli struggles against her past, the opposition of Ben’s and Luke’s families, and even the living reminder of her marriage—to build a future with hope and perhaps to find the love of her life—if she can survive the danger from her past.

Natasha’s Thoughts:
I was so pleasantly surprised by this book. I was not expecting the deep emotional connection that I ended up having for these characters. Grace Greene is a genius in my opinion. The way she wrote these characters, how their lives developed and the unexpected twists and turns that took place was so captivating! I thought I knew how this story was going to play out and was not expecting things to turn out how they did. There are Christian references, but the book is not consumed by them; which makes for easy reading for anyone. Having tissues nearby is a necessity, but this book is definitely a must read and worth it! I absolutely cannot wait for another book by this author, I’m so hooked!!

Kellie’s review of Dark Sins & Desert Sands by Stephanie Draven

Dark Sins and Desert Sands
by Stephanie Draven

Mythica Series
Mass Market Paperback: 288 pages
Publisher: Harlequin (October 18, 2011)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 0373618719
ISBN-13: 978-0373618712
Escaping a hellish Syrian prison, U.S. serviceman Ray Stavrakis emerged with uncanny mind-control powers and an eerie ability to morph into a mythical Minotaur. As a half man, half bull, Ray had legendary power, but only one woman could prove his innocence. The woman who’d driven him to the brink of insanity with her cool-eyed interrogation and her hot-blooded sensuality.
But Vegas psychologist Layla Bahset had no memory of Ray or her past. Only a feeling of being stalked by a nonhuman predator. Was it Ray…whose eyes condemned her soul even as his hands ignited her body? Or was another evil force at work? But nothing could stop Layla from remembering what she was…and what her evil creator had planned for her and her soldier lover…

Kellie’s Thoughts:

Let me start by saying I read and listened to this book at every opportunity until it was read.  I listened in the car while running errands, read between chores and I feel asleep while trying to get in one more chapter.
Dark Sins and Desert Sands is a love story with a twist; a love story that overcomes the worst betrayal and the powers of Gods.  When you’re meant to be together no unworldly powers can’t stop it.
Ray and Layla fight others, each other and then fight together against others.  You will fall for the hero, you will hate the heroine but through the twists and turns of self-discovery you will love them both by the end.
Given the length of the book some details are lacking but the heart is retained and you will continue to turn the pages as you cheer on the good guys.
Read and enjoy as you discover there’s more to the reality than can be seen with your eyes.

Pleased reader,
Kellie Stubbs

My Review of A Midnight Dance by Lila DiPasqua

A Midnight Dance
by Lila DiPasqua

Inspired by the tale of Cinderella, Lila DiPasqua weaves a steamy historical romance that offers a glass slipper, a dangerous deception, and an impoverished beauty determined to find her handsome prince…and make him pay.
Born into wealth, Sabine Laurent and her twin sister lived a life of luxury, their father’s prestigious theater frequented by royalty and aristocracy alike. And Sabine dreamed of her own prince charming—the devastatingly handsome Jules de Moutier.
That was before the loss of her sister and her family’s fall from grace—a disaster Sabine blames on the Moutier family. Now, with her father’s death, she’s inherited his sizable debt and the responsibility of caring for his spoiled long-time mistress and her two wastrel daughters. But with the help of Sabine’s eccentric friends—the balance of her father’s acting troupe—she plans to get very close to her old infatuation, seduce the rake—and make away with a fortune.
Resisting Jules’s skillful mouth and tantalizing touch is not as easy as Sabine supposed. And soon she must decide whether her desire for vengeance is greater than her desire for her one and only prince…

My thoughts:
In A Midnight Dance we meet Sabine Laurent, who is in dire straits.  Sabine is a woman on a mission to save her family.  But in order to do that she must be willing to make the ultimate sacrifice in order to gain the trust of those she plans to deceive.  But as with all good plans not all goes right.  The last person Sabine ever expected to find in this camp is the one man she blames for the fall of her family. Jules deMoutier

Jules deMoutier has been stripped of everything, his money, his title, and his pride.  But after 5 long years he is so close to getting everything back.  Back to the way his life should be.  But Jules never planned for one small blond woman to come into his camp and steal his treasure out from under his nose.
Sabine is a great heroine.  She is smart, funny, determined and really doesn’t take people’s crap very well.  Her only weakness seems to be her heart.  Sabine cares too much sometimes.
Jules, aahhh, sweet, handsome, suborn, wouldn’t know when a woman is lying to him Jules.. Jules is HOT… He his Dream…. He really is a prince charming under all that holier than thou attitude.
OH, Lila is wicked good.  There was not one moment that I didn’t love this story.  Lila doesn’t wait very long for there to be a very hot forest sex scene *wiggle eyebrows* Lila does a great job of taking the Cinderella story and telling it in a way I would have never thought about.  This is truly a riches to rages to riches story.

My Review of Just Gotta Say by Laura Kaye

Just Gotta Say
by Laura Kaye
When Callie Davis stumbles upon two of her three male roommates in a surprising, molten-hot midnight tryst, she discovers a side of herself she never knew existed. Desire to play with them grips her, and she can’t stop fantasizing about having multiple men, particularly her three long-time best friends.
Callie is thrilled when a guys’ night out gives her the perfect opportunity to recreate her fantasy—with the help of a threesome porn video and a bag of sex toys. That is until Lucas, Jack, and Noah return early and catch her in the act. More than anything, the guys want to make her fantasy come true. But Callie has a secret, and she can’t help wondering if being with all three men will risk the future she’s always wanted with one of them.
As three strong sets of hands caress and undress her, Callie surrenders to desire, because sometimes you just gotta say…yes.
My thoughts:
One woman
One fantasy
Three Men *growl*
This was a great, fun, very hot & sexy short read.  Laura does a fabulous job of bringing us into Callie & the boy’s world.  It was great to see how much each of the guys truly loves Callie and how much Callie loves them.  Even if one the holds her heart doesn’t know it yet.
I enjoyed the interaction between all 4 characters but if a little M/M action is not your thing,  I do think you will find that in this story is very tastefully done.  But I figured I better let you know.  I would highly recommend Just Gotta Say to everyone.
A huge THANK YOU to Laura for letting me read Just Gotta Say and I really want to know what Jack & Noah went to go talk about.

My thoughts:
First I have to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Shayla Black and her super awesome assistant Christie for allowing me the to read Logan’s book early. I love you girls.

Shayla is so wickedly talented.  I so LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Logan and Tara’s story.  Logan has been my favorite so far in Shayla’s Wicked Lovers Series (although I really am digging Xander (bk7) and can’t wait for Tyler’s book (bk6)).  Shayla does a great job of taking this tough talking Dom and showing us just how vulnerable he really is.  How when given a chance to be close to the woman he loves with all his heart and soul again.  Logan will stop at nothing to make her his once and for all.

Shayla does a great job with Tara too.  We feel Tara’s pain about the boy she has always loved and hated yet never forgot or forgiven his betrayal. But when faced with trusting Logan or failing on her mission, Tara knows she has to trust Logan one more time.  Tara also knows she is doomed to fall hard for Logan, but is she willing to take a chance at getting her heart broken again just like he did all those years ago.

Shayla Black’s Belong to Me, is such a wicked good read I never wanted Logan and Tara’s story to end. Logan & Tara are HOT. Five-Alarm HOT!!!!  If you have not started Shayla’s Wicked Lover Series I would highly recommend them.  I look forward to seeing snippets of them in the next two books *fingers crossed*

If you have not started Shayla’s Wicked Lover Series I would highly recommend them! The Storm that is Sterling takes us on a wild ride of love & lust, betrayal & trust, misunderstands and a very uncertain future.

My Summary:
The Storm that is Sterling is perfectly named and poor Sterling is in for the ride of his life.  But let me back up a bit and give you a little history.  The Storm that is Sterling is book 2 in Lisa Renee Jones Zodius series.  Book 1 is The Legend of Michael (my review of Michael) in which we are introduced to the world of the Super Soldiers, soldiers who have been injected with an experimental Alien DNA.  With this change in their DNA the soldiers are gifted with more strength, speed and other special gifts.  Becoming a Super Solider comes with a great responsible to protect and keep the world safe.  But not all of the soldiers are out to keep the world safe, some feel that it is their right to be better than others and therefore feel they should rule the world.
When Sterling is asked by Cabel (his leader) to go get a scientist to help find a cure for ICE (their enemy’s newest weapon to try to take over the world), his world is forever changed by two words.  Rebecca Burns.  Becca is the sweet, innocent, little future NASA scientist he was forced to walk away from fourteen years ago.
When Sterling show up at Becca’s house to ask for her help; everything falls apart.  The next thing Sterling knows they are being attacked at all sides. The last thing Sterling remembers is handing Becca off to Damion his teammates only to see Damion hand Becca off to the enemy.  When Sterling wakes he finds that he has been captured by his enemy also.  Then he learns that his enemy has forever changed Becca’s life by forcing her to become addicted to the very drug they were seeking her help to find a cure for.
My thoughts:
I really, really enjoyed Sterling and Becca’s story.  I have to admit that even while reading Michael’s book I wanted to learn more about Sterling. So when Lisa gave me the opportunity to read The Strom that is Sterling there was no way I was going to say NO.
Lisa did a great job of showing the struggle that Sterling goes through to realize what and who he needs in his life.  Sterling is a man who has always thought that he didn’t need people in his life. His motto was ‘live life fast and hard’, that was until Becca came back in his life. Only to learn that life has other plans for Becca.
Becca on the other had has always had the support and love of a family, until death took them away.  Not wanting to be a burdened to anyone with her health issues she runs away to hide. That is until Sterling walks back into her life
Lisa sucked me back into the Zodius world with a heart wrenching story of a young love lost before it was ever explored, only to be found again under dire circumstances. And with time is quickly running out can these two find a way to save the world and each other
A Huge Thank you to Lisa for allowing me to read Sterling.  I enjoyed very, very much.

What is next?

Damion’s book *sigh*

will be out Spring 2012.
