Celestial Seduction
by Jessica E Subject

At the end of his obligated commitment to the Space Service, Frey Berger decides to stay on Earth to further experience human emotions rather than return to Ginnun where his intended has already mated with another. Looking for real love and someone to accept him for what he is, Frey enlists in Madame Evangeline’s popular dating service. Although he does not understand the concept of a one-night stand, he hopes to find his perfect mate.

Carrie Cooper’s husband divorced her for someone who could provide him with children, leaving her with little self-confidence and no desire to let a man hurt her again. Her best friend convinces her to join a dating service, claiming Carrie needs to get laid, while not winding up with a broken heart since her date requires no commitment after the night is over.

Although several misunderstandings nearly derail them before the date has even begun, Carrie and Frey end up becoming closer than they ever believed possible. Still, Frey will need to convince Carrie that her perfect mate isn’t human at all, and that one night can lead to a forever love.

My Thoughts:

This was a fun story… Although I am a little creeped out by Frey, true identity.  But if Carrie is good with it who am I to complain.  I do have to say that this was a super short, but very entertaining read. So I won’t give you anymore details then the blurb above. But if you are looking for a good, fun, short read I would recommend you check out Jessica’s book.

Review of Taboo by Leslie Dicken

When two strangers meet by chance, their shared ecstasy challenges cultural differences and changes the course of their future.
Two societies have lived apart on a remote planet for generations. At the top of the Dwelling live the Aerotaun, people who have built wings to help them fly. The bottom is occupied by the Marimar, hearty swimmers who live and feed by the sea. Because of the mystery surrounding their ancestors’ landing, suspicions and distrust thrive between the cultures.
Until a taboo encounter occurs on an isolated beach.
Ariana, an Aerotaun, cannot resist the seductive allure of the forbidden Andreus. Their few days alone ignite sexual exploration and uninhibited ecstasy. But when Ariana finally learns the shocking secret about their purpose on the planet, she must decide if her heart belongs with her people or the sexy Marimar.
My thoughts:

This story takes you on a journey of two people that find that even if you are from two different cultures you are not really as different as you might think.
Ariana & Andreus are tested on every step of this journey.  Whether it is fear of trying something new, the fear of the unknown, or the fear of never feeling what they feel for each other again.
My only complaint would be that the story ended all too soon for me.  Leslie did a great job of sucking me into this world of the Top Dwellers and the Bottom Dwellers and just when we learn something big the story ends. I do hope that Leslie will continue this story. I really want to know what happens next…

Review & Giveaway of The Unwilling Bride by Candy Little

Order Here

Beautiful and high-spirited Caitlin Gallagher has no desire to be married. When she’s forced into an arranged marriage, she vows to loathe the man. Her anger is kindled even more when she finds out he was born in England. Her family was forced to flee Ireland and move to America because of the war with England. Now this Englishman is stripping her freedom away. Dillon Cade is her enemy twice!

Gentle Dillon Cade has lived a quiet life for thirteen years in Norfolk, Virginia. When he agrees to marry a young maiden so she can stay in America while her parents are deported back to Ireland, he gets more than he bargains for. As he uses his newspaper to fight President Adams’ sedition acts and help Thomas Jefferson get elected, he must also deal with an unwilling bride, who now disturbs his peaceful life.

Can Caitlin work through her anger, finding faith in God and love in Dillon’s arms? Can Dillon tolerate her behavior long enough to win her trust?

Guest Reviewer Natasha’s Thoughts:

First off let me just say WOW!! This is the first historical romance I have ever read, and I sure wasn’t prepared for it!! As an avid history buff, I loved the setting and writing style. It was a fascinating read. I have to say that I have no idea how Dillon put up with Caitlin for so long. She is down right nasty, immature and mean at every turn. I hated her for so long and then all of a sudden I loved her. I have no idea how this author was able to make me forget all the terrible things Caitlin said and did; then turn her around into an amazing character. I laughed in this book, and I cried. Caitlin is so headstrong, stubborn and defiant. She is certainly a force to be reckoned with and will never bend to anyone’s will. Her passion and strong mind are such an admiration when she uses them in the right way.
Dillon is the most patient, loving husband. He does everything to indulge and care for his wife and gets put down and berated at every turn. Yet he pushes on and vows to make Caitlin love him. Man did he have his work cut out for him. It was such a rocky road for these two, with obstacles, hatred and so much tragedy standing in their way. The author also incorporated other stories of love and loss along with Dillon and Caitlin and I loved that. It showed the lives of everyone around them and how they all fit together. Although I will say that some of these characters actions left me thinking “Really?? Who the heck does something like that?” but it all falls into place in time. It really was a great read, and really opened my eyes to historical romances and how intriguing they can be.
Thanks so much to Kelly for allowing me to read this awesome story and allowing me to write my thoughts on it!!

Hearts in Darkness by Laura Kaye review

Makenna James thinks her day can’t get any worse, until she finds herself stuck in a pitch-black elevator with a complete stranger. Distracted by a phone call and juggling too much stuff, the pin-striped accountant caught only a glimpse of a dragon tattoo on his hand before the lights went out.

Caden Grayson is amused when a redhead literally falls at his feet. His amusement turns to panic when the power fails. Despite his piercings, tats, and vicious scar, he’s terrified of the dark and confined spaces. Now, he’s trapped in his own worst nightmare.

To fight fear, they must both reach out and open up. With no preconceived notions based on looks to hold them back, they discover just how much they have in common. In the warming darkness, attraction grows and sparks fly, but will they feel the same when the lights come back on?

My Thoughts:
In Hearts in Darkness we find MJ (Makenna) and Caden complete strangers in an unfortunate situtation of being trapped in a dark small area. But MJ makes the best of the situation and friends the man she is stuck with.  While Caden is trying hard not to freak out.  He doesn’t like being trapped in small, dark spaces.  But ther is something about MG that clams him.  Once they start talking they find that they have many things in common.  But it is easy to find things in common in the dark.  What will happen when the lights come back on and they are no longer trapped?
I really enjoyed this story.  Laura does a great job of exploting Caden’s fears and MJ’s nurturing side.  These two are drawn together depsite the fact that MJ has never seen Caden, and Caden only knows that MJ has red hair and a nice ass.
If you are looking for a great, quick hot story, please take a chance on this elevator. You might just like what you need.

Please watch for my interview with Laura on July 29th.  We will be giving away a copy of Hearts of Darkness

Drew in Blue by JM Kelley Review & Giveaway

Drew Doyle’s done a lot of stupid things in his life, but the biggest mistake by far was not paying attention to that 2% failure rate listed on the back of the condom box.

Drew in Blue is the story of a thirty-six year old loner unexpectedly saddled with the task of raising a baby while trying to sort out his mess of a life. Problem is, he just keeps making things worse for himself. It’s a running theme in Drew’s life, considering he never does anything the easy way. The River’s View, Pennsylvania gossip mill is watching each misstep as Drew juggles a price-gouging babysitter, a major case of artist’s block, and a best friend with an opinion to share on every bungled choice he makes.

His love life isn’t faring much better. Despite a long history of relationships that never really get off the ground, he falls head over heels for someone new, hoping that she might be the one to end his romantic bad luck streak. Things finally start looking up for Drew, until he finds out (the hard way, naturally) that this new love interest isn’t the one for him after all. Turns out, it’s actually lifelong pal, and high school girlfriend, Kristina Moser.

Drew’s feelings for Kris intensify as he witnesses her growing bond with his son, and he finally realizes where he belongs. Now all he has to do is convince Kris he’s right… and she’s just not buying it.

My thoughts:
In this story we go on a journey with Drew to find out who and what he really wants in his life.  Drew learns what true love is and that, that love maybe as close as the person who has always been there.
I really enjoyed this story.  Drew is like many people in a rut during life, but it only takes one little bundle in the form of a little boy to change everything for Drew. I did find Drew frustrating only in the fact that he is a man and can’t see what is right in front of his face.  But in the end I believe Drew learns the errors of his way.
I do hope the JM will revisit Drew in the future. I would love to know how things turned out for him.

If you want a good romance story please give Drew in Blue a try and find out if Drew can find what he needs.

I have to say a HUGE THANK YOU to JM for allowing me to read her book and share it with all of you.

Review of Hidden Talents by Emma Holly

Resurrection, NY is America’s only supernatural friendly town, built on an outfolded pocket of Faerie. Werewolf cop Adam Santini is sworn to protect and serve all of Resurrection’s races – including unsuspecting human Talents who wander in from Outside.

Ari stumbles into Adam’s town from the Big Apple. She’s hot on the trail of a mysterious crime boss who wants to exploit her telekinesis for his own evil ends. If she can’t get Henry Blackwater off her back, she and her two most trusted friends in the world had better kiss the decent life they’ve built for themselves goodbye.

Ari’s mission puts her on a collision course with the hottest cop in the RPD. Adam wants Blackwater too, but mostly he wants Ari. She seems to be the mate he’s been yearning for all his life, though getting a former street kid into bed with the Law could be his toughest case to date.

When biology knocks boots with justice, more than bad guys go up flames.

My thoughts:
Thank you to Emma Holly for asking me to review her newest book Hidden Talents.
In Hidden Talents we meet Ari a young woman who knows she is different than her peers, but she doesn’t know just how different she really is.   Being different is not always a good thing, not when the thing that makes you different is wanted by evil.  The Talent that Ari has has caught the attention of a very bad man, who wants Ari do to very bad things.  When Ari decides enough is enough she learns that no matter how much you run you still have to face your demons.  That is how Ari finds herself in Resurrection, New York.  Now she must find and kill her demon.
Adam is the Alpha leader of his pack and the leader of the RPD (Resurrection Police Department).  When the police force is called out on an M without L (magic without license) they respond just like any other time.  But what Adam doesn’t know is that once he walks through that door his life will forever change.

I enjoyed this story so very much.  It was a great twist on your typical paranormal story.  Adam & Ari are so hot together (I think I got burned just reading the book).  Even if it takes Ari a little bit too long to realize what she has with Adam can never be matched.
I love the way that Emma sucked me into this new world from the beginning.  I hope that there will be more books in this series.  There are so many other characters that I want to learn more about and I want to know what is up next for Adam & Ari.

The excitement of this story wraps mortals, vampires, witches, and shape shifters all into a romantic tale of young love, friendship, the meaning of family. The story of a girl who tries to finds herself when she thought it was all lost.

My Daughters Review:
Immortal Embrace is a forbidden love story. You definitely feel a connection with the characters, and the setting is described in a way that you can know it’s beauty but still be able to create the images in our own head. Blackwell’s book as a Twilight flare but with a bite of a twist.

My Daughter said that she enjoyed this story and is looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Taming Rowan by Suzanne Barrett

Taming Rowan
Suzanne Barrett
A Contemporary Romance Novel.

Karin Williams’ devastatingly handsome project officer has a boulder-sized chip on his shoulder. Rowan Marsden expected a male engineer and he’s not giving Karin an inch. Working conditions are…tense. Even…worse, she must share on-site accommodations with the sexy Brit who she fears will break her heart. What’s a girl to do?

If Rowan had his way, he’d never work with a woman. Yet as Karin demonstrates her expertise on the job, he cannot deny his growing respect for her–or his desire. He wants the passion she offers, but not the commitment. Until a horrendous accident at the project site threatens Karin’s life, and proves that even a wounded man is destined to love….

Ghost reviewers thoughts:
I enjoyed this book!    Rowan is a frustrating, handsome man who has been burned by his first marriage.    And he is not looking forward to delving into another serious relationship anytime soon.  With a nasty reputation about not working well with women, imagine his disdain when a female is assigned to his construction project.    In walks intelligent, sexy Karin looking to prove herself more than capable of managing the project and managing Rowan at the same time.   She can give Rowan a run  Rowan is torn by his personal feelings that keep getting in the way of his stone cold attitude and the sexual tension between him and Karin.     He also has made it clear that there will be no commitment, just a fun interlude during the project.   Karin is torn between her feelings for Rowan and knowing that their relationship will never turn into a commitment.   As the project continues,  a horrible miscalculation happens and an accident leaves Karin injured, in hospital, and eventually recuperating at Rowan’s family estate.    As she is healing, she has made up her mind it is time to leave England and Rowan behind.    However, in the end Rowan realizes that his feelings for Karin are more than just casual and convinces her to marry him on the Estate.

My Thoughts:

I don’t read many mystery novels.  So when I was approached by David I decided to give it a try.  I can’t say that I loved this book.  It was just okay for me. I am thinking that it is mostly because this is not a genre that I truly enjoy.  But please if you enjoy a good mystery novel take the time to check David out.

My thoughts:

First I want to thank Devyn for sending me Darkness Descending for early review.  And no I am not just being nice Devyn when I say “Darkness Descending SO DOESN’T suck!!!!”

Next, I was sucked into this book just by reading the prologue. Therefore I would like to share it with you:

Enjoy:

Prologue
This is a tale that has been told time and time again; the battle of good versus evil, light versus dark.
There are as many versions as there are stars in the sky.
And it’s all true.
The story, however, is only halftold.
Thousands of years ago, one of the most favored archangels challenged the highest power of heaven.
Jealous of the freedom accorded to newly created humans, he demanded free will for all angels. The
confrontation fractured heaven, creating a legion of upstarts. But far from denying them, heaven granted
these angels what they so desired.
But the gift came at a terrible price. Almost immediately, the angels felt a dark presence, born of
greed, stir within. Fear rippled throughout the ranks, but it was too late to beg forgiveness. For their
blasphemy, their bodies were torn asunder and reborn in fire, the blood in their veins cursed for all time.
Their wings were torn from their monstrous bodies, and they took on the look of beasts.
The accursed beings were cast out of heaven, made to wander Earth for all time. Humans were given
the sanctuary of Eden to protect them from the encroaching evil, but free will once again proved to be
both blessing and curse, and they began to travel far and wide beyond the haven. Eventually, Eden
became no more than a mirage, its location lost in the sands of time.
The fallen angels quickly discovered men, and it was then that they felt the first pull of bloodlust. The
seeds of their revenge were sown, and they fed upon humans, integrating themselves into society.
Vampirism spread slowly, giving foul birth to a demon race that called itself the Telave.
Eden is now lost, and no place on Earth offers shelter as those of the Telave continue to build their
army of undead soldiers, biding their time to wage war on heaven and Earth. They move virtually
undetected, cloaked in the shadowy mantle of human ignorance and denial.
But heaven has not forsaken the weak and defenseless. The most faithful of angels were sent to mate
with human females, giving rise to a race of holy warriors strong enough to withstand the unholy invasion
of the vampiric virus.
However, the warriors are spread thin as the demonic plague escalates. Their victories are few; the
casualties many.
A savior to lead them has long been promised.
But the centuries have passed, and no savior has arrived . . .
When she does, the fate of the world will rest in her hands.

Darkness Descending is the first book in Devyn’s Vampire Armageddon series. In Darkness Descending we meet Jesse (our heroine) she has been through hell in the last year.  Being attacked by demons, losing her sister, being arrested and as if things couldn’t get worse she is hanging out in a cemetery.  Jesse is waiting to take her revenge on the monsters that attacked her and killed her sister.  As with everything else in the past year her attack plan only leave her getting attaché again.  But this time she won’t go down without a fight.
The last thing Maddox expected to this night at the cemetery was a young girl trying to kill a freshly turned vampire.  But doing his job he takes out the vampire and saves the young woman.  But this young woman is not what she seems to be. Maddox takes Jesse under his wing in hope to teach her how to protect herself while fighting vampires.  But while helping Jesse, Maddox has to face down his own demons and the growing feelings he has for Jesse.  But this time Maddox may have waited too long.

I LOVED this story!!!! Devyn sucked me in from the beginning of the prologue.  I hate to say that I love see characters struggle, but I do. And boy do these characters struggle.  Each of these characters have demons they have to face.  Choices to make.  Destiny’s to fulfill.

I really can’t wait to see where Devyn takes us next with Maddox, Jesse and crew.

Trinity by Deena Remiel

Order HERE
One way or another, terror will reign tonight.

Emma Livingston, a single mom, has been through hell—and back, so she thinks. While dealing with her five year old daughter’s night terrors, she attempts to live a normal life. That is, until the being from those very nightmares comes to visit her. Has her child been dealing with a real demon while she thought he was only a figment of an active imagination?
Michael D’Angelo is known to everyone in Prophet’s Point, Arizona, as their loving elementary school principal. But to The Brethren, he is known as the most powerful Protector. Immortal and angelic does not mean he’s without doubts or fears. While trying to protect Emma and Hannah, his tortured past comes back to haunt him. Can he overcome it? Or is he doomed to repeat a failure he has lived with for what seems like an eternity?
As Emma and Michael come together to protect Hannah, ancient secrets are revealed and faith is tested. When a prophecy is exposed, questions must be answered… Can Emma learn to trust enough to love again? Can Michael believe in himself enough to show Emma how? And will they be able to protect an innocent child, not to mention save the world as they know it, from total annihilation?

My thoughts:

“In the world of good versus evil it is always good to have an angel on your side”

I enjoyed this story.  Deena does a great job of setting up a new world for us, a world of good and evil.  On the evil side we have the devil Namirha.  On the good side we have the Brethren & EL”s (God) Warrior Angels.  But in this struggle between good and evil a little girl is caught in the middle.  A little girl who can change everything for both sides. Emma is the mother of this young girl.  Who is willing to do anything needed to save her daughter, even trust Namirha to save her.
If you believe in Angels & Demons I would tell you to grab a copy of Trinity and jump into the world of the Brethrens and see if good always wins over evil.

After a marriage that proved to be more fizzle than sizzle, Sara’s writing reflects her growing frustration and also her secret passion for her best friend and muse, Steve Larson. Steve Larson is anything but your typical romance hero. A redheaded computer nerd with a slow, southern drawl, Steve is neither a cattle baron nor a titan of industry. The one thing he does have going for him is that he has loved Sara from the moment he met her.
When she confesses that he has long served as her inspiration, Steve leaps at the chance to take things to the next level. Determined to be the man to make her fantasies come true, he takes a page from Sara’s own books and plots a passion so intense it threatens to consume them and the friendship they both cherish.
When friends turn into lovers, love can get lost in the shuffle. Fact becomes tightly cocooned in fiction as both Sara and Steve learn to balance their desires with the needs of their hearts.
Guest Reviewer Kellie’s Thoughts:
What a fun, endearing and steamy story. I found myself smiling, laughing and fanning myself all in the same scene. The only problem with this story was its length, I wanted more. The characters were full of chemistry and the playful banter addicting. This real life story could be any of us, friends that become lovers with a feel good ending. A must read that warms the heart and the bedroom. Steve and Sara held out eight years and the wait was worth it.
Thank you Kellie, I hope everyone else enjoys as much as you did..
