Hi Kelly! Thanks for having me as a guest on Books-n- Kisses today. I have exciting news to share. Tease is a fantastic new line at Decadent Publishing. Today is our big Cover Reveal Day. We’ve been keeping them a secret until now. I’m so happy to introduce the cover for my paranormal novella, Sun, Sand, and Séances

I was thrilled one of the senior editors contacted me to join the line. I couldn’t wait to get started on my story.  Since I love the beach, and the beautiful historic town of Cape May,New Jersey, I used it for the setting of my story. I couldn’t think of a more romantic place to have my heroine Savannah, spend a magical weekend.

BLURB

Bobbi Collins, a caring and devoted kindergarten teacher, lost her fiancé five years ago, suddenly after a silly argument. Her work fills up her week, but her weekends are boring and filled with longing.

When she stumbles across a newspaper ad for a psychic fair in Cape May,NJ, it seems like the answer and besides, she realizes it is time to try something different to help her revive her once vibrant spirit.

Kevin Carlton a successful realtor is tired of the dating game. He doesn’t remember buying a raffle ticket, but when his co-worker announces he holds the winning number, he decides to take a chance and attend the all expense paid weekend in Cape May, NJ, at the Lady of the Sea’s, Psychic Fair. Since he was a lazy and unfocused teen, with no direction, his goal is to find a spiritualist who has the ability to contact his father, in hopes of gaining his approval.

Bobbi is shocked when she runs into Kevin, at the hotel in Cape May. The sparks fly when strange occurrences bring Bobbi into her ex-boyfriends arms. She never dreamed of having a weekend of magic, memories, and a chance to rekindle the flame with her lost love.

Will two people who once shared something wonderful, be able to reconnect after dealing with the sudden tragedies in their lives or will it be too late?  Does someone or something want to keep them apart?

Can the historic town of Cape Maycast a spell on their hearts, and allow them to find what they both desire?  How will passion survive amongst the backdrop of a town where spirits never sleep?

Jennifer reviews Sweet Madness by Heather Snow

TITLE: Sweet Madness
SERIES #: Veiled Seduction Series #3
CHARACTERS: Penelope Bridgeman & Gabriel Devereaux
AUTHOR: Heather Snow
PUBLICATION DATE: 04/02/13
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS: Ever since her husband’s sudden and tragic death, Lady Penelope Bridgeman has committed herself to studying the maladies of the mind, particularly the trauma of soldiers of the Napoleonic Wars. It is this experience that brings the Marquess of Bromwich’s family to her door.

Gabriel Devereaux’s unexpected and unpredictable episodes are unlike any Penelope has studied. The once proud soldier has been left shaken and withdrawn, but Penelope manages to build a fragile trust between them. Strangely, Gabriel seems completely lucid when not in the grips of his mania, and during the calm bouts between, she is surprised by how much she is drawn to him.

Despite his own growing feelings, Gabriel knows that he is fit for no one and is determined to keep Penelope away from his descent into madness. But even though she knows firsthand the folly of loving a broken man, Penelope cannot stop herself from trying to save him, no matter the cost.

REVIEW: Heather Snow continues to impress me more with every book that she writes and I am amazed at how intricate her characters and storyline are with her new release, Sweet Madness. Lady Penelope Bridgeman is a young socialite that is determined to help others suffering with mental illness even though health professionals dismiss her techniques as being foolish. Penelope seemed to be very happy in the beginning with her life as a young wife, until tragedy strikes and she is drawn into assisting others with similar maladies. I liked her because even though she would have been happy in a ballroom she felt that she needed to help others and I saw this as her way for atoning for what she considered as her past mistakes. I thought she was very courageous to walk into the situations that she did with her head held high and the determination that she would make a difference in these people’s lives. There was nothing that she could have to done to help the people in her past because I believe she was meant to have a purpose and those events would eventually put her on her journey into the psychiatric field.

Gabriel Devereaux was also a very interesting character for me because he had fallen so far from his station in society. He was being currently housed in a mental institution after being a decorated war hero and his family was determined to deem him mentally incompetent to be head of his own estate. Penelope was his last hope in helping to cure him and she was also the shining light in his current sea of mental darkness. The two of them together were magical because they just fit so well together and her very presence calmed him during the worst of his episodes. Even though the subject matter for this novel was very serious, Ms. Snow handles the material with the upmost of care and it hit very close to home for this reader.

This is the third and final book in the Veiled Seduction series and I have loved each of these wonderful, intelligent and resourceful heroines immensely. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Snow has planned for the future but I’m sure that her next endeavour will be just as well-written and thought-provoking as Sweet Madness.

Kimberly reviews Keeper Of The Night by Heather Graham

TITLE: Keeper Of The Night
SERIES #: The Keepers: LA #1
CHARACTERS: Rhiannon & Brodie
AUTHOR: Heather Graham
PUBLICATION DATE: 12/18/12
ORDER LINKS: Amazon|| B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
In their new Keeper roles, these extraordinary women must balance the fate of the world with their desires…

New Keeper Rhiannon Gryffald has her peacekeeping duties cut out for her—because in Hollywood, it’s hard to tell the actors from the werewolves, bloodsuckers and shape-shifters. Then Rhiannon hears about a string of murders that bear all the hallmarks of a vampire serial killer, and she must confront her greatest challenge yet. Together with Elven detective Brodie McKay, they head to Laurel Canyon, epicenter of the danger, where they uncover a plot that may forever alter the face of human-paranormal relations.

REVIEW:
So the plot for this story is interesting. Rhiannon is a Keeper (babysitter/judge) for the vampires. She is new to the job with her 2 cousins. She barely gets to LA and vampire murders start happening. Brodie is a copy (and Elvan) who is working the case and they team up.

Sounds interesting right? And it sorta is except the writing of the story almost seems like it is written for YA (except the minor love scenes). This is the first in a new series but it felt like I should know the Fathers of the new Keepers because they refer to them over and over as if they were in an original series and I did go back to see if I could find the series but I couldn’t find anything but it made me feel like I was missing a little something.

Also the other problem was the female characters. They are so immature. And yes we are supposed to think that they are new and thrown into this Keeper position but it Rhiannon seems like she can not do anything alone and one cousin is too uptight and the other is a bit spoiled. I really didn’t like them much.

But I did enjoy Brodie and Rhiannon together. They worked well together. I love Heather Graham’s ghost stories so I thought I would love this too but I just liked it.

 Wilder Series by Jill Shalvis

Wilder Series by Jill Shalvis

Instant Attraction

Wilder #1

The first in a sensational new series, Jill Shalvis introduces Cameron, Stone, and T.J. Wilder—three bad-boy heroes who effortlessly mix breathtaking adventure and scorching sex appeal…

Get Wild…And Then Get Wilder…

Accountant Katie Kramer is a quintessential good girl; working hard, recycling diligently, all the while trying to ignore the feeling that she doesn’t fit in anywhere. That’s all she wants. Well, that; and amazing sex, and the kind of daredevil escapade she can look back on when she’s crunching numbers in a dusty cubicle. Which explains why she just took a job in Wishful, California, working for Wilder Adventures and Expeditions. Waking up to find a magnificently built stranger towering over her bed; that part defies explanation…

After wandering the planet for months following a life-changing accident, Cameron Wilder has come back to the only home he knows. Under other circumstances, he might be thrilled to find a gorgeous woman sleeping in his cabin, but now, while he’ll risk his body taking clients on adrenaline-drenched excursions, his heart is off limits. Still, Katie’s killer smile triggers something deep in his gut…among other places. Showing her how exhilarating it can be to stop balancing her life as if it was a checkbook is the biggest rush he’s ever felt, and an adventure Katie’s wishing would never end..

Instant Gratification

Wilder #2

In Instant Attraction, Jill Shalvis introduced Cameron, Stone, and T.J.; the sexy, daredevil brothers who run Wilder Adventures. And for Stone Wilder, the thrill of a lifetime is about to arrive in a surprising package. . .

The Doctor Is In Deep

Wishful, California, is 3000 miles from Dr. Emma Sinclair’s last job in a New York City ER. It may as well be another galaxy. Here, running her father’s clinic for a summer, Emma treats bee stings, stomach flu, and the occasional pet cat. Plus, she has to contend with patients like Stone Wilder: gorgeous, laid-back, and irritating beyond belief. The man laughs at her. A lot. And Emma loathes him. All except that tiny part of her that wants to throw him on her examining table and break every doctor-patient rule in the book. . .

When Stone tries to help Emma learn to loosen up a bit, he pictures white-water rafting or scenic mountain hikes. Not a mind-blowing affair that shakes them both to the core. Emma’s sure she has no place in a town like Wishful, but Stone knows different. Emma belongs here – in this town, in his life. And convincing this strong-minded, stubborn, sexy woman of that fact will be a challenge no Wilder man could resist.

*****

Instant Temptation

Wilder #3

T.J. Wilder is the perfect package of breathtaking adventure and raw sex appeal. Even better, he’s about to reconnect with the one woman he’s never been able to forget…

Get Your Pulse Racing

To Harley, the landscape around Wishful, California, is exhilarating, untamed, and more than a little dangerous. The same could be said for T.J. Wilder, who’s invited himself along on her trek to study a rare coyote. Harley’s career is riding on this trip, and she doesn’t need a stubborn, incredibly sexy distraction. But T.J. is a professional guide who knows when to stay back and when to provide invaluable expertise-just like he’s done since they were in high school. And Harley, as usual, is torn between throttling him and giving in to the raw attraction that’s been smoldering all these years.

T.J. knows how proud and capable Harley is, but he’s damned sure not letting her put herself at risk when there are illegal hunters in the area. She needs him, with the same soul-stirring urgency that he’s always craved her. And here, in this beautiful place days from civilization, he’ll finally have a chance to prove it-over and over again.

Jennifer’s Review of Dead Silence

SERIES #: Body Finder #4

CHARACTERS: Violet Ambrose

AUTHOR:  Kimberly Derting

PUBLICATION DATE:  04/16/13

ORDER LINKS:  Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS: Violet thought she’d made peace with her unique ability to sense the echoes of the dead and the imprints that cling to their killers…that is, until she acquired an imprint of her own. Now she’s more determined than ever to lead a normal life.  However, the people who run the special investigative team Violet works for have no intention of letting her go.

When someone close to her becomes a suspect in a horrific murder, Violet finds herself pulled into a hunt for a vicious madman with an army of devoted followers–and quickly discovers that protecting those closest to her is far more difficult than protecting herself.

REVIEW PROVIDED BY: Jennifer             NUMBER OF STARS: Four Stars

REVIEW: Kimberly Derting has written a pulse-pounding story full of suspense with Dead Silence and the stakes are much higher for Violet and her special investigative team. In this installment, Violet is dealing with the recent events that have left her with an imprint of her own. I just want to say that Violet has come so far in her journey from the first novel in the series and finally seems to be coming to terms with her unusual gift.  She seems stronger, more grown-up and I was impressed by how well she was handling everything in her life. She is still in limbo in regards to her feelings toward Rafe while having a romantic relationship with her longtime boyfriend, Jay.  All this changes when she accidentally finds the bodies of a family and is thrown into a murder investigation where someone she knows becomes the prime suspect.

I really enjoyed this story and I liked how Violet was able to understand more about her gift by finding journals that belonged to her grandmother, who also had Violet’s ability. It helped to provide some answers that she had always wondered about, yet provided more questions as to what her future holds with her fellow team members of the special investigative unit.  I was also impressed by her boyfriend, Jay, because all through this series, he has been a great guy that has stood beside her and would do anything to protect her.  He doesn’t particularly care for Rafe and knows that Rafe has feelings for Violet but is able to put those emotions aside because they ultimately have to work together.  I felt sorry for Rafe throughout this book because of his unrequited romantic feelings toward Violet but I was also glad to see there could possibly be a new love entering his life soon.

The killer in this book was absolutely creepy and I had a hard time with some of the scenes just because of the gore content.  Makes you want to double check your locks and get home before it gets dark after reading this.

Kimberly Derting is such a talented writer and I have enjoyed every one of her books in the Body Finder series.  I have loved Violet’s transition from being just this young girl with a bizarre talent to a young woman who now wants to help people with her “gift.”  I’m hoping that there will be more books in this series because Kimberly has done a wonderful job creating these characters and I can’t wait to see what is next for Violet and her friends.

Kelly reviews Shades Of Gray by Maya Banks

TITLE: Shades of Gray
SERIES: KGI #6
AUTHOR: Maya Banks
Characters: PJ Rutherford & David Coletrane
PUBLICATION DATE: 12/31/12
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
P.J. and Cole were sharpshooting rivals on the same KGI team and enjoyed a spirited, uncomplicated camaraderie. Until the night they gave in to their desires and suddenly took their relationship one step further. In the aftermath of their one night stand, they’re called up on a mission that goes terribly wrong, and P.J. walks away from KGI, determined not to drag her teammates into the murky shadows she’s poised to delve into.

Six months later, Cole hasn’t given up his search for P.J., and he’s determined to bring her back home where she belongs. Bent on vengeance, P.J. is on a mission that will plunge her into a serpentine game of payback and make her question everything she’s ever believed in. Cole—and the rest of their team—refuse to let her go it alone. Even if it means sacrificing their loyalty to KGI and their very lives

REVIEW:
I am really on the fence about this book. I really hate what happened, I mean REALLY hate what happened to the heroine. I just plain hate this type of storyline, not matter how good the rest of the book is. But it didn’t stop me from loving the characters.

PJ is strong despite everything that has happened to her and I am happy that she made it out on the other side okay. And with Cole’s help I believe she will fully heal (but again, really hate when what happened to her is in a story) I really loved Cole. He is so sweet, patient and perfect for PJ.

I enjoyed this story even if I disliked part of the storyline. This was also my first book in Maya Banks KGI series. And from what I have gathered the story line that I disliked might be in other books. So I am not sure if I will be back tracking and reading the other books. But if you are a fan of the KGI series I am sure you will enjoy PJ & Cole’s story.

Interview & tour wide giveaway with `Caridad Pinerio

Books-n-Kisses is pleased to welcome Caridad Pinerio back to the blog today.  We are excited to share and talk about her two upcoming releases.

Caridad, can you please share with us a little about yourself:  I am a mom, wife and writer and I also still have my full time job.  I started writing in the fifth grade when my English teacher assigned a project – to write a book for a class lending library. I currently write paranormal romance and romantic suspense, but will also be going back to writing some contemporary romances shortly.

Have you always wanted to be an author?  I have wanted to be an author since the fifth grade when I wrote my first book for that class project.  I knew then that I wanted to write more books and get them published.

Can you share with us your typical writing day.  Is there anything you have to have while writing?  I still work so I usually write on the train on the way in and out of New York City.  On weekends I do most of my writing since I will be spend anywhere from four to six hours writing.  When I write on the weekends, I will either watch a television show or movie that matches my mood or I will write out on my balcony when the weather is nicer.

Most challenging or rewarding part of writing? The most challenging part is dealing with revisions since sometimes your vision differs from that of the editor.  The most rewarding part is meeting readers and talking to them about what they like in their stories.

Can you please tell us about your latest book?  I have two new releases!  THE SHIFTER’S KISS is erotic paranormal romance about a shark shifting goddess who is the last of her kind.  Nali, the heroine, cannot resist the scarred firefighter who saves her life and challenges her to leave the sea for his love.  GHOST OF A CHANCE is a paranormal romance mystery set on the Jersey Shore.  It’s about a group of people who are joined together to try and solve an eighty-year old mystery and discover a ghostly presence that may provide them the clues they need.

How did you come with the idea for this story?  Both were inspired by my time by the shore.  I live right near the Shark River where rum runners used to bring in alcohol during Prohibition and this inspired GHOST OF A CHANCE.  There are also sharks in the Shark River and I thought it would be interesting to have scenes that were done under the sea.

Can you share with us your current work in progress?  I just finished the sequel to THE PRINCE’S GAMBLE (tentative title TO CATCH A PRINCESS) and it was a lot of fun.  It’s a romantic suspense set in Monaco where a jewel thief is trying steal some very rare and priceless jewels.  Right now I’m finishing the third book in the relaunched THE CALLING/REBORN vampire novel series.  This book will give readers another view into Diana and Ryder’s life (they’ve had some massive changes!) and also the story of Michaela, a dhampir vampire Slayer, and FBI Assistant Director in Charge Jesus Hernandez.  This story is sexy, exciting and action-packed!

Who are some of your favorite authors?  J.D. Robb, Larissa Ione, Jeaniene Frost, and so many others.  I love to read!

Do you feel that any of your favorite authors have inspired your writing style? I don’t think so.  I’ve tried to create my own style and voice, but I do read other writers to see how the execute their story arcs, etc.

Open your book to a random page and tell us what’s happening.

On this page, Victor has just realized that Nali is trapped by some spear fisherman because of his actions and he’s deciding what to do in order to help her.  He realizes he as only one choice:  Put himself in the line of fire so she can escape.

What is in your To Read Pile that you are dying to start or upcoming release you can’t wait for?  I can’t wait to read the latest IN DEATH release.  I had gotten all caught up, but now I’ve fallen behind again.

Is there anything else you would like to add?   I love to hear from readers and spend time with them, so please take the time to visit with me online or at signings and conferences.
