Husband ask me this weekend……

So the husband and I went to the Portland boat show.  Yeah I know going to a boat show in the middle of winter… Crazy… I know, I know and sadly they didn’t have anything that I wanted either.  Okay, back to the real reason I am posting… So a few weeks ago I posted that I had 86 books in my TBR pile.. (Amy, hush.  I don’t want to hear about your 250++ books)

Okay so the husband ask
“So, Honey the books in the closet those are you books you need to read right?”
Me: “yes” *trying not to make eye contact*
Husband: “and how many books would that be?”
Me: “as of right now or counting the ones I have won and are waiting on?”
Husband: “All of them”
Me: “ummmm about 100”
Husband: “Wait, WHAT?  You have over a 100 books to read”
Me: “Yep”  *batting my eyelashes”
Husband: “I guess you don’t need to buy any books for awhile then, and can save some money?”
Me: “WELLLLLLL, I don’t have to buy any more NO, BUT you see there is this one book coming out in February I have to have, OH and I have to buy JR Wards next book… HAVE TOO!!! and there is this one in April, oh and May and June… Aaaahhh Hell……”
Husband just looks at me and shakes his head: “I think you need to read what you have first”
Me: “I will get to them… Oh and I have to do re-reads too before I buy the next book”
Husband: just gives me a weird look and walks away….

So glad he only asked about the paper books.. He might have flipped if I told him I have over 50 on my kindle too….. hehehehehe….

I will admit I am a total book whore…….

it was a Grimm weekend for me…

As you can see from my updated reading list I read 4 books… YES four… granted they were short… but still tons of fun to read…
I will have a review up so for you soon……

Review of Salve to Sensation by Nalini Singh

Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh
Book 1
Psy-Changeling Series
The Psy are known to be icily controlled, inhumanly practical and impossible to push to violence.  Psy’s feel nothing.  Not rage, not jealous, not envy, not happiness and certainly not love.
The Changelings are shape shifters, completely and utterly devoted to their family and clan. They will protect and love their clan above all else.
Sascha Duncan as always known that she was different than the others.  Broken.   Flawed.  As Psy Sascha has always been taught not too feel any emotions.  EVER!  So she has hidden her flaws all her life.  If anyone in the Psy community finds out what is wrong with her they will surely put her to death.  Sascha is starting to wonder if she can hide much longer.
Lucas Hunter is the Alpha leader of the DarkRiver Clan.  As the leader his job is to protect everyone in his clan, but he has failed yet again to protect the ones he loves.  One of Lucas’s young female pack mates has been kidnapped and murdered.  But before Lucas can find the murderer another young girl has been kidnapped from the neighboring clan.  The DarkRiver Clan has vowed to find the girl before she meets the same fate as their own pack mate did.  But will they get there in time or will this start a war?
The Psy’s and the DarkRiver Changeling Clan have never worked together before.  But with a housing shortage they changelings approach the Psy’s with a business opportunity that they can’t pass up.  Working together is not going to be easy for Sascha or Lucas.  Sascha had never been around changelings let alone work closely with one, but she has been chosen to oversee the project.  Lucas knows that he must get close to the Psy to try to get what he wants, but how can he trust the Psy?
Will Lucas and Sascha be able to put aside their differences and work on this project or will the secrets that both are carrying destroy everything?
My thoughts:
I was in love with Sascha and Lucas from the very beginning. I loved the way that Lucas pushes Sascha’s and he sees that little crack in her armor.  Once this happens Lucas won’t stop until he sees what is beyond the cold, unfeeling allure that Sascha tries to portray.  I enjoyed the struggle that Sascha has to go through to understand the new world around her and to come to grips with her feelings.
Lucas is the rough, tough, and the epitome of an alpha, but is so patient and loving with Sascha, it almost breaks your heart.
Both Lucas and Sascha come to grip with the fact that things are not always as they seem.
And I will admit I did get a little tear in this book.
So the only bad thing I can say about the book was that I figured out who the bad guys was pretty early on in the book.
I am truly looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series. There are so many back characters, that I need to know what happens to them too.  Plus I want to learn more about what happens Lucas and Sascha.

Review of Highlander Untamed by Monica McCarty

Highlander Untamed by Monica McCarty
The MacLeods of Skye Trilogy
Book 1
Rory & Isabel’s story
What is a Highlander?
When I was first given this book all I could think of was the Highlander movies. Where the Highlander’s are immune to disease and stop aging after becoming immortal. The song “Who wants to live forever” kept playing in my head.  That was until I picked up Monica McCarty’s and got sucked in the world of the Scottish Highlanders.
Rory MacLeod is the Highland Chief of the MacLeod clan.  He is strong, brave, a fierce warrior, has an undying love for his family and is willing to do anything to protect his clan. Anything, including bedding the enemy he has vowed to destroy. But can Rory’s tough exterior and honor for his clan defeat the enemy that he had welcomed into his home?
Isabel MacDonald is the only daughter of Glengarry MacDonald, she is beyond beautiful and used to men falling at her feet.  But being the only girl in her family she has always craved the attention of her father and older brothers, who have always been too busy for her. To protect her family’s land, pride and love she is willing to proceed with her Uncle’s crazy plan and handfast the enemy. To get her family’s love she would be willing to walk thru fire, but what she doesn’t realize is that when you play with fire you always get burned.
What I loved most about this story was to find out that it was based on true Scottish History.  Monica McCarty not only writes romance novels, she uses history as her inspiration.  I love how Monica took history which can be boring.  Monica told a wonderful story about two star-crossed lovers who would sacrifice everything to save their families, including their own happiness.
Over all I really truly enjoyed this book. I would have to say that if you love Highlanders, then you will love this story.  If you have never read a Highlander book you need to give them a shot.

*last note:  this was my first book review.  Please tell me if it sucks, what I can do to make it better, or if I should just hang up my book review.  Be truthful I can handle it.*
