“Don’t you like it?” she asked, smoothing her palms over her hips. Let the games begin.
“I—I—”
Like it, she finished for him. With the amount of truth that always layered his voice, he probably couldn’t utter a single lie.

“Amazing.” She twirled, her see-through gown dancing at her ankles. “I know.”
“You know?” His tongue traced his teeth as the anger she’d first suspected glazed his features. “Cover her,” he barked.
A moment later, a white robe draped her from shoulders to feet.
She scowled. “Return my teddy.” The robe disappeared, leaving her in the white lace. “Try that again,” she told him, “and I’ll just walk around naked. You know, like I am in the portraits.”
“Portraits?” Brow furrowing, he gazed about the room.
When he spotted one of the pictures of her, sans clothing, reclining against a giant silver boulder, he hissed in a breath. Exactly the reaction she’d been hoping for. “I hope you don’t mind, but I turned this quaint little cloud into a love
nest so I’d feel more at home. And again, if you remove anything, my redesign will be a thousand times worse.”
“What are you trying to do to me?” he growled, facing her.

DAMON STORMED THROUGH the kitchen, shoving his way into the restaurant. The smells of simmering white wine and melted cheeses invaded his nose. Shouts echoed behind him. An angry cook yelled as he passed, “You can’t come in here!”

Caius’s body jolted before he spun to face Damon. Tiffany fell to the floor, gasping for air. A small trickle of blood ran down her neck from where Caius’s fingernails had dug into her skin as he choked her. Rage coursed through Damon at the sight. A loud snarl ripped from his throat. Caius would die.

He fired another shot straight into the ancient bloodsucker’s chest, blowing a massive hole in Caius’s body, but at Caius’s age, the skin and organs knitted together again in seconds. Damon tucked his gun away, and ripped a silver dagger and his wooden stake from his jacket.

Fangs already down, Caius hissed, and the two of them charged each other. They collided at full speed, meeting each other blow for blow. A normal man stood no chance against a vampire as old as Caius, but gifted with the speed and strength of his Execution Underground training, Damon held his own. Anger and rage fueled his every move.

No vampire hurt Tiffany and lived. None.

I was never one of those people who knew they wanted to be an author at the age of six. I didn’t have imaginary friends. I didn’t write stories in my journal or entertain my relatives by firelight after Thanksgiving dinner. For the most part, I was just a normal, everyday kid. I liked to read, but I wasn’t exceptional at it. And when my teachers complimented me on my writing abilities, I brushed them off. I did, however, always have a penchant for the unique and absurd. And as my mother told me all throughout my childhood, I should have been an actress—I was a drama queen before my time.

Years ago, my husband bought me Scarlett: The Sequel to Gone With The Wind. If you ever saw the book, you know it’s a long one. I sat and read that thing from cover to cover, and dreamed of one day being a writer. But I didn’t actually try my hand at writing until years later when I quit my teaching job to stay home with my kids. And my husband? After that week of reading where I neglected him and everything else until I finished Scarlett, he vowed never to buy me another book again. Little did he know I’d one day end up sitting at a keyboard all day drafting my own stories.

My writing journey has not been easy. I didn’t just sit down one day, decide I was going to write a book and voila! sell my very first attempt. As most authors will probably agree, the path to publication is filled with hours of work, pulling all-nighters I thought I’d given up in college, sacrifices, rejections, but a love I discovered along the way I just can’t live without. Instead of a big, thick book to read by lamplight (I do read much smaller ones when I get the chance), I’ve traded in my reading obsession for a laptop. And I’ve never been happier.

I’m one of the lucky ones. I have a wonderful family and fabulous husband who put up with my writing—and obsessive personality—even when life is chaotic. More than once my kids have been late to swimming or baseball because I needed just five more minutes to finish a scene. Their support and encouragement mean the world to me. I also have amazing friends and a support network I couldn’t survive without. So to all of you out there who have encouraged me along the way, sent me emails and fan letters, phone calls and congratulations, I just want to say, thank you. You make this whole writing gig that much more enjoyable. I truly wouldn’t be here without you.

Interview & giveaway with Tammy Falkner

Tammy, can you please share with us a little about yourself?

I am a mom of two boys – 18 and 9. And yes, they still fight even though there’s such a large spread between them. I have been married for more than twenty years (and I just turned 39)

Have you always wanted to be an author?

I have always written, but didn’t know I truly wanted to be an author until someone at work looked at a short story I wrote and told me I was in the wrong profession.

Are you a plotter or a punster or combo of both? And you explain the difference?

Both! I have a general idea of where my story is going when I start it, but I don’t know the particulars. I know the major events that will happen, but not how they will tie into every scene.

What is your most interesting writing quirk?

I procrastinate. A lot. To the point where I end up writing a book in a month, rather than the six that I planned to spend on it.

Can you please tell us about your latest book(s)?

My new series revolves around a family of faeries – Sophia, Claire and Marcus. Their mother fell in love with a human, and her wings were clipped, so when she delivered three fae children, they were stolen from her, along with the memories of them, and taken back to the fae world. My faeries are mission faeries, and they’re taxed with helping humans where problems arise. So, they must live and interact with humans but never fall in love with them.

How did you come with the idea for this story?

I had already written vampyres and Lycans in Regency England, and I wanted to expand and see what else might live and interact with the ton.

Can you share with us your current work(s) in progress?

I just finished the third book in the series, THE MAGIC BETWEEN US. THE MAGIC OF ‘I DO’ launches June 4^th, and I have a new adult book coming out at the end of June called TALL, TATTED AND TEMPTING.

What is the best piece of advice you would give to someone that wants to get into writing?

Join RWA or your local chapter of RWA. The resources they offer are invaluable, and I wouldn’t be published today if not for them.

Can you share with us something off your bucket list?

I want to learn to water ski. I used to do it when I was REALLY young, and I tried it last year and just wasn’t able to pull it off!

What is one book everyone should read before they die?

Colleen Hoover’s SLAMMED series is one of my new favorites

What is your favorite time of year & why?

Definitely the fall. It’s cooler, and there’s no pollen like in the spring.

Who is your Celebrity crush? And what would you do if you ever meet them?

I just asked my husband this, and he got this little gleam in his eyes and said, “Ellen Degeneris.” He’s right. I would have to go all fan girl if I ever got to meet her.
