Wings of silver. Wings of blue. Mortal heart. Broken dreams. Shatter. Shatter. Shatter. A sundering. A grave. I see the end. I see. . .

The world is in chaos as the power surge of the Cascade rises to a devastating crescendo. In furiously resisting its attempts to turn Elena into a vessel for Raphael’s power, Elena and her archangel are irrevocably changed. . .far beyond the prophecy of a cursed Ancient.

At the same time, violent and eerie events around the world threaten to wipe out entire populations. And in the Archangel Lijuan’s former territory, an unnatural fog weaves through the land, leaving only a bone-chilling silence in its wake. Soon it becomes clear that even the archangels are not immune to this deadly evil. This time, even the combined power of the Cadre may not be enough. . .

This war could end them all.

Advance Excerpt From Archangel’s War by Nalini Singh

“We watch,” the Primary said. “We protect.”

But things were altering in front of them, a faint glow emanating from where the aeclari had been before the filaments obscured both Raphael’s body and Elena’s chrysalis.

Beyond the balcony doors now partially covered with the snow silk of the filaments, the Bluebell turned. His eyes widened at seeing the ocean of filaments, the glow. But before he could open the closed doors, a familiar voice entered all their minds.

Leave now. It was an order from an archangel. Clear the skies above. Empty the land around. GO.

The Legion were moving even as the last word echoed in their minds. They were Raphael’s Legion, Elena’s Legion, and they had been given an order. The Bluebell wasn’t Legion. He was one of the Seven. Unique. With his own mind.

Torment wrenched his features, but he inclined his head, and the Primary saw him form the word, “Sire.”

All of them moved.

The Bluebell dropped to the grass, then ran inside the house.

The Legion broke into four parts and swept the area. Winged beings were already flying toward the river at high speed, their faces stark and their jaws determined. The Legion dropped down in front of cars moving on the nearest road. The cars were not so close to the aeclari’s home, but the archangel hadn’t said how far to clear.

When the first two cars halted with a screech that caused a burning scent to rise to their nostrils, the Legion wrenched the doors open and hauled the startled vampires out. A group of the Legion rose into the air, two to a vampire. Another group found four humans in a third car, a vampire’s cattle heading home. The scared cattle whimpered at being taken by the Legion but didn’t struggle. Neither did the vampires after they saw the angels racing from the Enclave to the water.

Golden light poured out from the windows of the aeclari’s home.

Many of the angels streaming over the water held vampires or humans in their arms, getting their households out of danger. The Bluebell was one of the last to fly out of the Enclave, and though the Legion did not speak to many outside of the aeclari, they spoke to him: Are the aeclari’s people safe? This was important. The Legion knew. The aeclari had bonds to those who lived in the house.

Yes, I got them out. The Bluebell, who could fly faster than the Primary and sometimes raced with the cars of the Blade and the Viper, fell off the cliff with his wings licked by a golden light so bright that it was difficult to face. In one hand, he held a large rectangular thing, in his other items they recognized.

Several of the Legion flew to him, and took the things. They did not understand things, but these were linked to the aeclari in their mind. We will fly them to the Tower.

Most of the angels kept on flying toward Manhattan, and those of the Legion that carried vampires or mortals kept on going, too. But the Primary turned once he was over the center of the river, as did those of his brethren who flew only their own bodies.

The Bluebell halted in front of them, the silvery blue of his wings spread and his face awash in the burning golden light that had turned the river to gold.

And the light, it grew, and grew, and grew.

Until at last, the light was so bright that it became fire and even the Primary couldn’t bear it and threw up his arm in front of his eyes. The last thing he saw was an intense white brightness.

NUMBER OF STARS: 5+ Stars

REVIEW:
Thanantos, aka Death, is not a very happy camper.  He has been a prisoner for the last 8 months, thanks to the his loving big brother and sister. So it is no wonder when feeling starts to return to his body the first thing on Than’s mind is revenge.   Revenge for the woman that betrayed him. Revenged towards his brother and sister, for imprisoning him.  Revenge for Pestilence, for not being Reseph anymore.  So Than comes up with a plan: step one get to the woman that betrayed him and make her pay.  Step two….. Well Than is not ready for step two because this involves something he never planned on.  Becoming a father.

Regan knows that she must protect the baby by any means necessary, but she keeps having nightmares of Thanantos killing her, taking the baby and not being able to stop the Apocalypse.  All because she betrayed him.  Betrayed him in such a horrible way, that no amount of sorry can explain away the hurt.   But there is one thing that Regan never counted on.  Than’s protectiveness over her and the baby.

What can you say about an author and a book that just totally blows you out of the water.  I am totally convinced that Larissa can’t write a bad book.   Lethal Rider gives us everything: love and lust, laughter and tears, betrayal, revenge, sacrifice, trust, redemption and forgiveness.   We get to see many characters for Larissa’s other wickedly good Demonica series.  And it is so nice to see the Horseman and the Demon kind working so well together.  🙂    I am SO in love with this series and am on pins and needle for Rogue Rider, Reseph’s book and the last of the Lords of Deliverance series.  But never fear!!!!!!!!!!!!   Reaver’s will be getting a book…..  SO can’t wait to see what Larissa has in store for the angel.  How she is going to redeem Reseph and where she is going to take us next…

BOOK SYNOPSIS:

But now he’s free of the goblin curse, and some would say he knows too much—he can make nature bend to his will, influence the minds of others, and command magic. Yet love eludes him. Then he meets Amanda, a single mother with a sick daughter whom he feels compelled to protect. But could she possibly place her trust in the kiss of a goblin prince?

REVIEWED BY: Kelly
NUMBER OF STARS: 3 1/2 Stars

REVIEW:
I do have to start by saying that I should have read Kiss of the Goblin King first, just so that I had a better understanding of the Shadowland world that Dai & Roan have lived in for so long.

That being said. I really enjoyed this book. Dai is a man that may be freed of a long held curse, but he is not free.  Dai has to learn to function in the Fixed Realm and deal with the magic that is calling to him.  On top of all of that Dai finds that he is drawn to Amanda in a way he doesn’t totally understand.

Amanda feels an instant connection to Dai when she sees him at the wedding of one of her dear friend. But Amanda is confused by her feelings.  I has been a long 8 years since her husband passed away and Dai is the first man to stir those feelings in her again.

I enjoyed reading the struggle that Dai & Amanda have to come to the realization that they can’t fight the attraction to each other.  But first they have to learn to trust blindly.

I liked the world that Shona created with the Shadowlands and the Fixed Realms.  There are so many threads weaved together to make up these worlds. I never really thought of Goblins as appealing but Dai & Roan make the idea very appealing.  I look forward to the next book in the Shadowland series For the Love a Goblin Warrior.

REVIEWED BY: Kelly

NUMBER OF STARS: 4 Stars

REVIEW:
This was my first Karen Hawkins book.  I have to say I really enjoyed this book.  The Taming of a Scottish Princess started out a little slow and Michael came off as a pompous ass, but as the story goes on I grew to love Michael’s character.  Michael may still be single minded but by the end of the book what he has his mind set on has changed.  He finally learns what is truly important to him.
Jane.

While you might think she a mouse type of character you would be very wrong.  Jane is a very strong, determined and can put her boss in his place any time kind of girl.  But when their latest adventure takes them back to Jane’s birth place, her future will forever be changed.

Michael & Jane were a fun, witty and determined couple to read about.  I loved their batter.  The sassy mouths that both have. The name calling, oh the name calling.  But their adventure to a small island in Scotland will make them realize that the ultimate treasure has been in front of them the whole time.

If you are a fan of Karen Hawkins’ books you will enjoy The Taming of a Scottish Princess.  If you are new to Karen, I believe you will enjoy the adventure and trouble the Michael and Jane get them self into.

Kelly’s review of Alexander Outland: Space Pirate by GJ Koch

Alexander Outland: Space Pirate
AUTHOR: GJ Koch
PUBLICATION DATE:   6/5/12
ORDER LINKS:  Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:

Captain Alexander Outland of the Sixty-Nine (short for Space Vessel 3369, of course) is the best pilot in the galaxy. He’s also a pirate, a smuggler, and loved and loathed by women in umpteen solar systems. His crew of strays and misfits includes an engineer of dubious sanity, a deposed planetary governor, an annoyingly unflappable Sexbot copilot, and a slinky weapons chief who stubbornly refuses to give the captain a tumble.

Outland just wants to make a decent living skirting the law, but when an invisible space armada starts cutting into his business, he soon finds himself in hot water with the military, the mob, mad bombers, and an extended family of would-be conquerors. And that’s not counting an occasionally telepathic spy . . . .

Like any sensible scoundrel, he hates heroics. They’re risky and they don’t pay well. But to keep his ship and crew in one piece, and make time with a certain hard-to-get weapons chief, he might just have to make an exception–and save the galaxy in spite of himself!

REVIEW:

OMG!!! I loved this story!!!  I am so in love with Alexander Napoleon Outland aka Nap, or as he likes to call himself ‘The Outland’.  Nap is to die for funny, witty, sexy and an all around good guy.  There is no other captain I would want driving my pirate ship.

Alexander Outland: Space Pirate takes us on a wild journey.  Nap is the leader of a pirate ship, well pirate spaceship that is, that finds themself in the middle of a plot to take over the universe.
And for some reason everyone is aiming for them.  Just when they think they know what and who their enemy is after they learn that they are wrong.  It will take every trick in Nap’s book and a little luck for Nap to keep his crew safe, save the universe and hope to win the hand of his lady love.
Along the way Nap finds himself new crew members, new allies, a few new enemies and in more then one very stinky situation .

Huge thank you to GJ Koch, for letting me read Nap’s book.  I am totally in love with him.  I am really excited to see what is next for Nap and the Sixty-Nine team.

If you are a fan of sci-fi you really need to order a copy of Alexander Outland: Space Pirate.  If you are new to sci-fi you should check out Nap’s book.  It is a fun, witty, twisty and turny read.

REVIEW:
hhhmmm, where to start with this review.  I have very mixed feelings about this book.   I didn’t love this book, I didn’t hate this book, I am not sure if I like or not.  I really really really wanted to like this book.  I like the idea behind this book.  But didn’t really connect with the characters.

I really wanted to like Arturo (our hero? I am not sure I would call him that), but is he is a rat, a snake, a really dirt bag, I could go ON and ON about his dirt bagness, but I won’t.  I kept hoping through the whole book he would change, but no he was a dirt bag right up to the end.

Quinn, oh what can I say about Quinn our heroine in this book.  Her loyalty to her brother is great.  She can take a punch like no one’s business, but damn that girl for trusting such a self serving vampire.

There were moments in this book that made me like these two, but for the most part I struggled with them.

I am hoping that as this series goes on the books get better.  A Blood Seduction was a little rough for me.  And let me tell you there truly is no such thing as a good vampire in Vamp City.
So if you are looking for a happily ever after story this is not for you.  If you are looking for a vampire story were ALL the vamp’s are bad then you need to get a copy of A Blood Seduction.

Kelly’s (ARC) review of Grimm Tiding by Shiloh Walker

TITLE: Grimm Tidings
Book #6 in the Grimm Circle Series
AUTHOR: Shiloh Walker

BOOK SYNOPSIS:

Never fear the pain. Fear what lies behind it…

Grimm’s Circle, Book 6

In his mortal life, the only thing Jacob liked better than money was a good brawl—until he stuck his fist into the wrong fight, and a demon sent him spinning into a new life as a Grimm.

Now, a hundred years later, he’s been called to protect someone too much like himself. A woman who could let the chains of her past drag her down unless she learns to let go. A woman who fights like there’s no tomorrow, because she clearly doesn’t want a tomorrow.

Celeste thought her second chance at life would be an opportunity to fix some of her worst mistakes, to set things straight. She couldn’t have been more wrong. She’s trapped by the past and her regrets, and nothing—not even her darkly sexy new trainer, Jacob—has a blade sharp enough to cut her loose.

Chains are Jacob’s specialty, but his help comes with a price. To her, the cost is her heart. To Jacob…something much more.

REVIEW PROVIDED BY: Kelly

NUMBER OF STARS: 4 Stars

Jacob knows a thing or two about the chains of the past.  How that harder you hang on to them the worst your future will be.  It has taken him over 200 years to learn to deal with his past mistakes.  While not perfect he now has to help the newest baby Grimm deal with hers.

Celine can not let go over her past.  She has regretted the choices she has made for the last 4 years.  But it will take almost losing everything in her life for a second time to make her open her eyes and realize that past is the past.

Jacob & Celine are two peas in a pod.  Both have pasts that they have fought to get over.  Both are fiercely independent, strong, loyal, and totally lost without each other.

I have be dying for this Grimm book since I finished Locked in Silence book 5 in the Grimm Circle series.  I love Shiloh’s Grimms.  I love trying to figure which fairy tale the character are based off.  Let me tell you I was WAY off on who I thought Grimm Tiding was about.   While this was not my favorite Grimm story of the series.  I still really really enjoyed the story and SO can’t wait for the next Grimm Circle.

If you have not read any of Shiloh’s Grimm’s. You really need to pick up one. You have never read a fairy tale like this.

*Huge thank you to Shiloh for allowing me to read her story*

Darkness Seduced
#2 The Order of the Blade Series
AUTHOR: Stephanie Rowe
PUBLICATION DATE:   04/15/12
ORDER LINKS:  Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Immortal warrior Gideon Roarke made an oath five hundred years ago to the woman who died for him. The ancient Calydon is ruthless in his quest to honor that promise, even if it means risking everything by teaming up with the one woman who will either destroy him, or finally bring redemption to his blackened, hardened soul.

After escaping from a two-year imprisonment at the hands of a madman, the only thing Lily Davenport wants is to go home and reclaim her life. Unfortunately for Lily, standing between her and that goal is a sensual, demanding protector whose dangerous seduction threatens to claim her life…and her soul.

REVIEW PROVIDED BY: Kelly

4 1/2 Stars

Stephanie sucked me back into the world of The Order of the Blade.  Amazingly enough I enjoyed book 1 just a little better then book 2.  Although I still really enjoyed Darkness Seduced.

Gideon is the tough as nails, has no feelings, totally impossible to kill warrior that everyone fears and all the other warriors look up too.  So when Gideon is asked to go save Lily from her prison, he treats this like any other mission.  Get in, save the innocent, kill some rogues, and get out. Gideon has the best plans that is until he see Lily being attached by a rogue Calydon.  In that moment everything about this mission changed.

Lily has been held captive for the last two years by a monster.  He has abused her in everyway possible.  But now days have passed and he has not returned from his latest battle.  Lily hopes that he is dead, but that also means death for her as she is locked in the basement of his house.
All Lily knows is that she needs to find a way out.  She has not survived this long to die now. Plus she know if she stays a greater evil will be coming for her.  What Lily doesn’t know yet is that her savior is waiting for her on the other side of the door to freedom, she just has to get to that door.

I enjoyed Gideon & Lily’s story, they are a great couple.  Both never back down from a challenge. Both are fiercely protective and determined to save the people around them.  But both will have to learn to trust, love and forgive before they can move forward

Darkness Seduced has a great set up for the next installment in The Order of the Blade series Darkness Surrendered coming out May 15.

Huge thank you to Stephanie Rowe for letting me read Darkness Seduced.

REVIEW:
What do you do when the one person who can save you, runs from you?  But the one person you want, the one that is always there, the one willing to do anything and everything for you just might be the only one to really save you?

This is the very problem the Ram finds himself in, in Forbidden Magic.  His soul mirror witch, has deserted him, left him to deal with the curse and his demons on his own.  Ram feels the pull to the one witch that can save him and his soul, but his heart has other plans. Ram’s heart belongs to someone he can never have.

Ginny knows that it is just a matter of time before she gives in to her father’s demands.  But she is not in any hurry.  Although being around Ram is very tempting for her to break her own rules.  When Ginny’s father blackmails her and gives her no choice, by threatening the two men she cares about the most on this earth, her brother Eli and the man she is head over heels in love with Ram, Ginny finally realizes that her father has won.

Fate always seems to have a way of knowing what and who is best for you.  But what happens when Fate is wrong?  What happens when your heart won’t let fate win?  What happens when you love the wrong person so much,  it makes it is so very right?

If you want the answers to these questions you need to pick up a copy of Forbidden Magic.  And see who wins, Love or Fate….

Huge thank you to Jennifer Lyon for allowing me to read Forbidden Magic early.  And for totally sucking me back into the world of the Wing Slayer Hunters and reminding me of how very much I love this series.   This novella took me on a wild, tortuous journey with Ram & Ginny and left me dying for more..

Book 3 in the ‘How to’ Series
By Vicky Dreiling
March 27, 2012
SCANDALOUS DESIRES . . .
Amy Hardwick has one last Season to shake off her wallflower image and make a love match. If she can’t, she’ll set aside her dreams of romance and return home to a suitor who can provide security—if little else. What she doesn’t count on is the inappropriate—and irresistible—attention lavished on her in a darkened library by rake extraordinaire Will “The Devil” Darcett . . .
DEVILISH DELIGHT
When Will is caught in a tryst with the ton’s shyest miss, he knows he must offer for her hand. Yet Amy is not the shrinking violet she seems to be. Passion lies beneath her prim exterior and Will is eager to release it. But winning Amy isn’t simply a matter of seduction; first, Will must convince her that he’s mended his wicked ways . . .

My Thoughts:
This was a great book.  I loved that Amy got her own book.  In the past two books Amy was the wallflower of the group.  But in How to Ravish a Rake Amy knows that this may be her last season, so she tries to transform herself.  Amy learns so much about herself in this book.  It was great fun to watch her grow.
Will is the bad boy of the ton.   The one all the women swoon over.  But when Will finds himself trapped with the beautiful red head he loves to tease, he doesn’t know the full extent of the consequent of his actions.
I really enjoyed How to Ravish a Rake.  Amy & Will are a great, fun, feisty couple to read about.  While their wedding may not have come from love, they learn how to make the best of their situation.
If you have enjoyed Vicky’s first two books you will love book 3 How to Ravish a Rake.

(ARC) Review of Crystalfire by Kate Douglas

4th and final book in the Demonslayer Series
by Kate Douglas
Paperback: 352 pages
Publisher: Zebra (April 3, 2012)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 1420110020
ISBN-13: 978-1420110029
The Demon King still lives, stronger than ever, devouring souls in search of immortality. Against him stands the scholar Taron, a newly-minted warrior of Lemuria, and Willow, a woman of unearthly loveliness, born of mist. . .
Spellbound
Taron must pass through the waterfall of molten gold that shields the secret portal to his beloved land. His brilliant mind and the speaking sword called CrystalFire are his weapons against evil. But nothing can protect him from the power of love. Willow, whom he once knew as a sprite who could dance in his hand, has been changed by a master stroke of magic into the form of a beautiful, highly sensual woman, desiring a thousand pleasures that she insists he alone can give her.
Innocent and eager, Willow arouses his deepest needs and sexual hunger–and his love. He will risk all to save her, even if it means a battle to the death with the ultimate foe. . .
My thoughts:
Two of the most unlikely heroes, but well-loved characters hold the future of the world in their hands.  If they fail the world as they know it will end.  If they succeeded they will live to fight yet another day.
Taron is a scholar who has never thought he was missing anything in life.  That was until he learned that he was really not living and his life was turned upside down.  Taron has been sent out on a mission to help with a battle against evil.  The last thing he expects to find is that this is the final battle of good vs. evil and he is the one that determines that fate of the world.  But even more surprising is who will be the one fighting next to him.
When Willow wakes up to find she is no longer trapped in the mind of Bumper. But in the arms of the man she has longed for since she first laid eyes on him, she is overwhelmed by all the feeling and changes in her short life.  But when Taron tells her of his mission, Willow knows she must help Taron whether he likes it or not.
What happens along the way will change Taron & Willows life forever.
What a great way to end this series.  Although I am hoping that Kate will maybe write some more about our favorite Demonslayers.  If you have read the first three Demonslayer books you will love Crystalfire.  If you haven’t started this series I would highly suggest you get started and read the first three books before Crystalfire is released in April. Amazon has a 3 book bundle just for you to get started on the Demonslayer books click HERE

To Kate:  HUGE THANK YOU for sending me Crystalfire to read and review.  XOXO
