He realized Teagan was still talking. “. . . knew you were going to be in the office today, so I told her it would be okay.”
“Wait, what did you say?”
Looking down, she tapped her fingers against her bottom lip. He tensed. She was a terrible liar and an even worse poker player because she always tapped her lips when she was nervous or unsure.
He stood. “Tell me,” he demanded when she stayed silent a beat too long.
“I told Amelia Winger you would be available to meet her this morning.”
“Shit, Teagan! You know I hate it when you ambush me with things like this. . . .”
She stopped tapping her lips and started tapping her toe, never a good sign for innocent or not-so-innocent males nearby. “This is a priority, Quinn,” she shot back. “I’ve already worked out all the legal details with Amelia. All she wants is a meeting with you. So it’s not on your calendar. Deal with it.”
“When will she be here?”
“She’s already here.”
“Of course she is,” he said dryly. He ran a hand through his hair before smoothing the mess he had made. “Let’s go get her.”
With Teagan click-clacking alongside him, he made the trek down the hall. He wasn’t looking forward to this meeting, and not just because his sister had sprung it on him. The women’s division limped along like a three-legged dog, and he doubted some new belts and purses would make a difference.
“Are you sure Amelia Winger is the right person to design our accessories?” Quinn asked.
He’d reviewed the information Teagan had provided about the designer, but he still had his doubts, especially since Amelia Winger had no formal design training, and she’d never done any work for a company like Riley O’Brien.
“I’d never heard of her before you mentioned her,” he continued. “Just because her best friend is a country music star and wears her designs doesn’t mean Amelia has any real talent. It just means she’s smart enough to capitalize on Ava Grace Landy’s success.”
“Ava Grace doesn’t wear Amelia’s designs just because she’s her best friend. She wears them because they’re incredible.”
Pushing open the door to the reception area, he ushered his sister through it before following. Frank turned at the sound, winking at Teagan.
The security guard tilted his head toward the only person sitting in the reception area. “There’s your girl,” he said with a smile.
Teagan hurried toward the woman with her arms outstretched. “Amelia, it’s so nice to see you again!” she exclaimed.
The woman dropped the magazine she’d been reading and quickly rose from her orange chair. It clashed horribly with her long red hair, and his heart kicked in his chest as Teagan gestured toward him.
“Amelia Winger, this is my brother, Quinn O’Brien. Quinn, this is the fabulous designer we talked about.”
Amelia released Teagan’s hands and stepped forward to greet him. “It’s nice to meet you,” she said, offering her hand to him. Her voice had a slight twang to it, betraying her Texas roots.
Clasping her hand, he gazed down at her. She couldn’t have been more than an inch or two above five feet tall because the top of her curly head didn’t even reach his shoulders. Her brown eyes crinkled as she smiled, and he noticed a slight gap between her top front teeth.
Her smile wobbled a bit as he stood there silently, staring into a face sprinkled with freckles that reminded him of brown sugar. Finally, he spoke, but when he did, it wasn’t exactly what he had intended.
“Nice ass,” he said.
Damn. Did I really say that out loud?

Jennifer’s Review of All The Right Places

Review (4 Stars): I absolutely loved Amelia from the very beginning of All The Right Places.  She was a tough, independent and very smart woman who wanted nothing more than to be a successful designer when she gets the opportunity to work for Riley O’Brien & Co.  Quinn O’Brien is looking to increase his company’s profits when he decides to add Amelia’s designs to his women’s division and is shocked to find that he is attracted to this beautiful young woman. Amelia has other ideas about changing the women’s division but is afraid that she will lose everything once Quinn learns what she has planned.
I loved the chemistry between these two characters and I was amazed at how quickly the story flew by.  All The Right Places was a sexy and entertaining romance that is the perfect start to a delightful new series.  I enjoyed Amelia’s and Quinn’s relationship and how these two characters danced around each other, trying desperately not to get involved with one another.  Their interactions were hilarious at times and I couldn’t imagine two people better suited for each other.  Looking forward to reading book two in the series.

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
If you love the Dark Protectors, these wicked hot Realm Enforcers are for you!

Alexandra Monzelle is a hard-fighting, heat-packing Seattle vice cop, and she’s not much interested in being protected. Her short skirt and sex-kitten heels are tools to lure her suspects into talking about the deadly new drug hitting the streets. She can take care of herself and then some. Unfortunately, she can’t seem to get that through to Kellach Dunne.

Kellach is a fresh import from Dublin, and he’s landed at the heart of a vicious motorcycle club that deals in guns, narcotics, and mayhem. He’s all male, all rough power—and all interference in her damn investigation. Maybe he’s one of the good guys. Maybe not. Lex knows an affair with an immortal like him would risk everything. No matter how delicious he looks

REVIEW:
4.5 Hearts When Ms. Zanetti wrote the last book in her Dark Protectors series I was super sad. Than a little birdy told me that while the Dark Protector series maybe over we were not done with the Realm world just yet. Just imagine me doing the Snoopy Dance when I got that little tid bit. Which brings us to Wicked Ride.
Wicked Ride picks up after the end of the War from Dark Protectors (so if you have not read the series you should start there :), but you could read Wicked Ride without reading Dark Protectors series).
Kellach Dunne, one of the Realm’s Enforcers, has been sent to Seattle along with his brothers looking into a new drug that could be used against witches. In order to find the source of the new drug they have to join the local Biker gang (aka motorcycle club). This make them public enemy number one in the eyes of the local cops. But Kellach will stop at nothing to get this drug off the street. The only thing standing in his way is a feisty female cop that wants to bring down the drug dealers herself.
Alexandra Monzelle (aka Lex) lives and breaths being a cop. She has known what it is like to grow up around drugs and dealers, now it is her job to rid the street of them. The newest drug and its origins may be the toughest case she has ever worked on. It sure would be easier if she didn’t have to deal with the very sexy irish bad boy biker.
Loved this book!!! Loved Kellach and Lex. I can’t wait to see who and what is next!!!

My favorite line from this book
“With the bite and the burn? I’ve mated you, baby. Welcome to Immortality”

If you enjoyed Rebecca’s Dark Protector series you will love this book. Plus a few surprise cameos were really really fun 😀

REVIEW:
As I talk about this story always keep in mind that I am giving it 4 stars. I enjoyed this story and can’t wait to read the next in the series. This is a great start to the new direction of the Dark Protectors. You do not need to have read the DP series to read this one.

Lex is a human cop and Kellach is a witch enforcer. There is a drug that is hitting the streets that they are both trying to bring down but when they get together they become an addiction to each other. (I should have mentioned that tag line to Rebecca Zanetti.) They have a connection immediately but Lex has issues from her past that make it hard to love and trust. Kellach knows he can’t fall for a mortal but brain and heart are too different things.

Now remember I enjoyed this book as I say there were a lot of things I had issues with. First, while I know she has trust issues, Lex too quickly believes the worst in Kellach. Even after falling for him she still believes he is a killer and drug dealer. She never gets over that really. Also I believe there are 3 kinds of women in books. 1) The one you hate and really never start to like (usually end up hating the book), 2) The woman you want to be friends with and 3) The woman you wish you could be if you jumped into the book. The problem is Lex didn’t fall into any of these. Lex is more like the older sister of a friend who you like and want on your side but don’t really hang out with (or want to be). And Kellach never really did it for me. He’s sweet and protective but just never do I fall for him. And finally, there were a few things that were brought up but didn’t happy (ex: at one point Kellach says he will punish Lex by not letting her orgasm if she does something again but when the opportunity is there he doesn’t follow through, etc). Why bring things up if then they are not done?

Once again I will say I really enjoyed this book. I didn’t have the suspense part figured out. The background characters are great and I can’t wait to read their stories especially Simone and Nick… Or Tori and Adam? And who will Daide end up with? I really need to know!!!

REVIEW:
3.75 Hearts Wow it has been 30 years since the third in the series came out in 1985. Yes 30 years. I remember reading this story as an older teenager. I was 16 when I bought the first one at a garage sale and then went to get the other two as quick as I could. It was my first foray into the genre of erotica and boy did it have an impact and I have enjoyed the genre ever since. And this book was really good but there was a problem. As much as I loved the series it was 30 years ago and I didn’t remember a lot of the details. And while some were addressed not all were. I wish I had read the trilogy from the 80’s before reading this one.

I am glad that A.N. Roquelaure/Anne Rice followed up her series. It did leave us wanting more and if it had come out in the 90’s I might have given it more stars or if I had read the series again I am sure the stars would have gone up. So take my advice and pick up the other three books or reread them, if you kept them like I did, before reading this book and you will enjoy this book a lot more.

And when old enemies align with new ones, it’s more than just his own life at risk. And more than just his homeworld that will end should he fail.

REVIEW:
4.5 Hearts I have been a fan of the League series forever! I love science fiction, and I love the incredibly gripping universe that Kenyon has created. However, that said, this series is starting to become a struggle for me. The cast of characters is becoming so large it’s extremely difficult to remember anyone, let alone what all has happened in the universe. To make it even more difficult – the books jump around to different points in time in the story, which makes it even more difficult to keep everyone straight. I love this series, I just wished it was a little more linear to make it easier to follow. As with all of Kenyon’s books, this poor hero is extremely tortured. Talyn has some of the worst luck of any character I’ve ever read. Thank goodness Felicia shows up. The two of them together are great and the story really worked well with the two of them as main characters. I loved it.

But when their mission takes an unexpected turn, he finds himself faced with an impossible choice: either put aside his need for revenge, or save the woman who’s reawakened his soul

REVIEW:
After the death of Levi’s wife this life spiraled down into a deep dark hole of despair. His only thought for the past two years was for revenge. Revenge at any cost, even his life.

As always Ms. Reus writes a story that keeps the pages turning and leaves you wanting to know what will happen next. I really enjoyed Levi & Selene’s story. They worked well together, even with the emotional baggage the Levi is carrying. I can say I was not expecting the ending. I had to reach for the tissues.

I can’t wait for the next book in the Deadly Ops series.

REVIEW:
4.25 Hearts My goodness I loved this book. I have read most of the series. I some how missed My Curvy Valentine but I plan on reading that as soon as I can. But I have read the rest of the series and have loved every book.

This was a bit slow to get started but later I realized why. We needed a bit of backstory from both Daisy and Clayton to understand their relationship. Daisy has lost so much in her life and when her sister dies she is given custody of Aubrey, her niece. Her husband wants nothing to do with her niece and makes it hard but then he is killed and Daisy is on her own raising a little girl. Clayton has seen war and is finally home and lost in the world where he should feel secure. But Daisy is his solise in a crazy world. And then they are faking an engagement and things really heat up. And the story really blossoms.

I loved Daisy. She is sweet and real and so down to earth you want to be her friend. You know she is the kind of person who once she allows you in her life you are there to stay. Clayton is hard but once he opens up he really becomes soft and sweet. He never fails to take Daisy’s hand or tell her how much she means to him (even if he doesn’t say love). And then there is Aubrey. She is an 40 year old woman in a 7 year old body. She is written with an old soul and is a big part of the story.

You do not need to have read the series but I would recommend you do. The series wraps around curvy girls. These aren’t all big girls but they are “hard to fit” into the mold of the perfect woman. And sometimes reading a book without the perfect people is exactly what a girl needs.

She was taller than he’d initially thought when she’d been in the car. Somewhere around five-nine, maybe five-ten. He didn’t know what kind of heels she had on, but, regardless, she wasn’t much shorter than he was, and he came in at six-one. Lithe and lean, not much in the curves department, either. That much he’d accurately ascertained from his blouse assessment earlier.

She paused as she noted the sign on the side of his truck.

“Blue Harbor Farm.” She looked back at him. “I thought you said you were a contractor.”

“I am. Family business. Fourth generation.”

“And the farm?”

“First generation,” he said with a smile.

“You?”

He nodded.

“Sounds like a lot to juggle.”

“If you ask my father, it’s a waste of time and money. If you ask my brothers, a hobby that got a little out of control.”

“And if I asked you?”

He kept his smile in place, but his answer was serious and heartfelt. “The thing that kept me sane through a hellacious divorce.” His smile grew slightly. “Continues to keep me sane working with family.”

“I’m sorry,” she said. “About the . . . hellacious part.”

She waved a hand briefly, but said no more. She held his gaze, then looked at the sign again, more, he thought, for somewhere else to look. Other than at him. He wasn’t sure what she’d seen in his expression, but banged up or not, she seemed a pretty sharp sort. So probably . . . too much.

He saw her eyebrows lift. “Calais?” she said. “You’re a long way from home.”

“Not that far. Hour and fifteen to the company office, hour-forty-five to the farm.”

“Unique town, Calais. Sort of umbilically attached to Saint Stephen across the border in New Brunswick, right? Interesting blend of cultures.”

“Mais oui, bien sur.”

She smiled a little at that. “I guess you grew up speaking French and English, living so close.”

“It’s predominantly English on both sides of the border. I speak French because my mother is French Canadian. I grew up with both languages.” He opened the passenger door to his truck.

“You didn’t have to do this,” she said, as he helped her up to the passenger seat.

She levered herself into the truck with a natural, graceful ease, making him wonder if she was a dancer, or some other thing that elegant women did with elegant bodies like the one she had. She required only a little assistance from him, which was just as well, he thought. Putting his hands on any more of that elegant body wouldn’t be wise. She was the kind of distraction he never needed in general, and definitely didn’t need right now.

She pulled on her own seat belt, wincing a little as she did, then immediately leaned her head back and closed her eyes. “But I’m very grateful you did.”

“Not a problem,” he said, palming the door, intending to close it.

“Hannah,” she said, quietly now, so he knew she was in more pain than she’d been showing, making him pause.

“I’m Hannah. McCrae.”

“Calder Blue,” he responded.

“Ah. Blue Harbor Farm,” she added, as if recalling the sign on his door. “Any relation to Jonah Blue?” she asked through barely moving bruised lips, eyes still closed.

“Great-nephew.”

“I thought I’d met all the Blues.”

“Different branch of the family.”

She opened her eyes then, and turned all that dark blue on him. Despite whatever pain she was in, and whatever worries she might have, her eyes were still surprisingly sharp, and quickly assessing. “You mean—as in Jedediah Blue’s branch?”

“The very same.”

“Your branches don’t talk to each other. For like . . . a hundred years.”

“A little longer, but that is true, yes.”

“How long have you been in Blueberry?”

“Just heading in, actually

She leaned her head back and closed her eyes again, but her lips curved upward just a hair and stayed that way, even when she winced at the pain.

“Something amusing about that?”

“Not at all. It’s . . . I just realized that your bombshell is going to be a lot bigger than mine.”

Jennifer’s Review of Sea Glass Sunrise

Review (4 Stars): Hannah and Calder were a great couple together and you could see the instant chemistry between the two characters even when they tried to pretend that they didn’t.  They seemed as though they would be exact opposites and would have nothing in common but sometimes exact opposites make the best couples.  Sea Glass Sunrise is a smart, charming, small-town romance that will keep readers coming back for more in this delightful new series.  I enjoyed every moment of Hannah and Calder’s love story and I can’t wait to see what couple finds love next in the second book of the series.

Author note: This is a stand-alone novel.

REVIEW:
Declan is an awesome mix of total badass ex agent turned security expert and totally softy romantic dream boat. Declan always knows that the job comes first but when he meets Nika everything that he knows goes out the window.
Nika and her sister have been set on a path of revenge. With one more mark to go they are so close to the finish line. There is a reason this one is the last, for he is the hardest to get to. But when Declanan and his men get involved the ladies may have finally met their match. But the question is how far and how much are they willing to risk?

Retribution was a great read, Katie outdid herself again. I loved the world that Katie built in this story. There are so many different things happening, yet they all merge together perfectly. I want to tell you so much about the story. But I don’t want to spoil it. So, let’s go with if you have loved any of Katie’s romantic suspense books in the past and love a paranormal twist, with a villain who is a real asshat then I think you will enjoy this book. I do hope that this is not the last that we have seen of Delcan and he crew.

As with all of Ms. Reus’ Moon Shifter series we have pain in the butt males, being well pain in the butt, drama, attempted murder and very nice sexy time. I love this series. Love this world. And loved finally learning more about Teresa and Ryan. This was a novella so it was a really quick read. If you are a Moon Shifter series fan you will love this novella. Nine Reasons Why Chocolate is Better than Romance…
By Penny Pike AKA Penny Warner

Darcy Burnett, the amateur sleuth in my new mystery, DEATH OF A CHOCOLATE CHEATER, has had her share of unhappy romances. After breaking up with her cheating boyfriend.losing her position as a restaurant critic at the San Francisco Chronicle, and taking a job working in a food truck for her Aunt Abby, Darcy thinks life is pretty much doomed.
So when she meets Jake Miller, the dream puff from the nearby cream puff food truck, she’s reluctant to get involved too quickly, not wanting to get burned, chewed up, and spit out again. And like many women, she’s finding chocolate almost as satisfying as relationship.
Here are nine reasons Darcy claims chocolate is better than romance—that is, until Jake Miller melts her heart and turns her insides into liquid chocolate.

You don’t have to wait for chocolate to call. It’s always there for you.

Chocolate doesn’t care if you haven’t washed your hair or shaved your legs – it will still melt in your mouth.
You don’t have to be exclusive with chocolate. Feel free to shop around.

You don’t have to brush your teeth before you eat chocolate. (But you probably should afterward to avoid cavities.)
You can eat two pieces of chocolate at the same time and not worry about your reputation.

No matter how many wrinkles you have or gray hair you’re hiding, you never age-out of chocolate.
With chocolate, size doesn’t matter (although most agree, more is better.)

Chocolate doesn’t make you pregnant. (You can diet those extra pounds away, if absolutely necessary.)

Even if you’re allergic to chocolate, you can read a good mystery novel like DEATH OF A CHOCOLATE CHEATER and get almost the same effects.
So take heart, if your heart has been broken, and get yourself a box of Sees dark chocolates, a bag of Ghirardelli chocolate squares or a pillowcase full of leftover Halloween chocolate, then curl up with a cat, a book, and a glass of red wine. As Darcy will tell you, chocolate fixes just about everything. Until a dream puff like Jake Miller enters your life….

Jennifer’s Review of Death of A Chocolate Cheater

Review (4 Stars): What a yummy mystery!  Death of a Chocolate Cheater has it all with a spunky heroine, delicious chocolate treats and a delightfully fun mystery that is sure to entertain.  Darcy is just so adorable and you can instantly connect with this wonderful character as she navigates her way through another mystery.  I love Aunt Abby’s comfort food recipes and I want so desperately to visit her food truck and sample some of these amazing culinary delights.  This mystery was fast-paced and entertaining and I found myself lost in this story until the very end.  Looking forward to reading the next book in the series to see what trouble Darcy finds herself into next.

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
A man who gave up on love

Mitch Bradford is an intimidating man. In his professional life, he has a reputation for demolishing his opponents in the courtroom. At the exclusive BDSM club Sanctum, he prefers disciplining pretty submissives with no strings attached. In his line of work, there’s no time for a healthy relationship. After a few failed attempts, he knows he’s not good for any woman—especially not his best friend’s sister.

A woman who always gets what she wants

Laurel Daley knows what she wants, and her sights are set on Mitch. He’s smart and sexy, and it doesn’t matter that he’s a few years older and has a couple of bitter ex-wives. Watching him in action at work and at play, she knows he just needs a little polish to make some woman the perfect lover. She intends to be that woman, but first she has to show him how good it could be.

A killer lurking in the shadows

When an unexpected turn of events throws the two together, Mitch and Laurel are confronted with the perfect opportunity to explore their mutual desire. Night after night of being close breaks down Mitch’s defenses. The more he sees of Laurel, the more he knows he wants her. Unfortunately, someone else has their eyes on Laurel and they have murder in mind.

REVIEW:
3.75 Hearts Laurel Daley has her heart set on the one man she can never have. So she has decided it is time for her to move on. But that doesn’t go over very well with Mitch.
Mitch is shocked that Laurel would go to such extremes to get his attention. But she has definitely success. But neither of them are prepared for the reality of the relationship they are about to start.

One thing I love about the 1001 Dark Night series is that we are able to sample stories from authors that we have never read before. This was my first Lexi Blake story. I now know why so many people have great things to say about Ms. Blake. I am going to have to go back and start this series from book 1. I really enjoyed Mitch and Laurel’s story. It was fun and heartbreaking all at the same time, with a dash of suspense added in.

I am looking forward to my next 1001 Dark Night adventure.
