As always Ms. Di Pasqua writes an amazing story that draws you in and make you fall in love with her stories while giving you a history lesson all at the same time. If you have not read any of the other Fiery Tales don’t worry Bewitching in Boots (while connected to Little Red Writing) can easily be read as a stand alone.

Tristan the ex-commander of the Musketeers and has sequestered himself off in his home and is broody about all he has lost. Elisabeth is a woman determined to get what she wants no matter what she has to do. What does she want you ask? She wants Tristan to be reinstated as commander of the Musketeers. Oh and she wants him in her bed.

Tristan and Elisabeth were really fun to read. It was great fun to watch these two dance around each other and try to avoid what they both want. Can’t wait for the next installment in this series.

Amanda Ronconi is an actress and narrator who divides her time between New York City and Upstate New York. She has a BFA from NYU, where she studied at the Stella Adler Conservatory. I decided to try my hand at writing a novel after I read a newspaper article about NaNoWriMo. Heck, I can do that. I sat down and wrote a contemporary romance but kept tripping over dead bodies in each chapter. I got the hint and my stories evolved into romantic suspense.

I joined my local Romance Writers of America chapter, the Rose City Romance Writers, and found a fabulous community dedicated to educating its members about writing and publishing. Book purchases are tax deductable?? I also belong to International Thriller Writers and the Kiss of Death Chapter of RWA.

In 2010, my manuscript, Stronger Than Bone (HIDDEN), was a finalist in RWA’s prestigious Golden Heart® contest. My third book, BURIED, won the Daphne Du Maurier award for romantic suspense and was nominated for the 2014 International Thriller Writers’s award for Best Paperback Original and Romantic Times Magazine’s best Romantic Suspense of 2013.

I grew up in the lush Pacific Northwest and still live there with my husband, three daughters, two cats, and a Pomeranian. I am fascinated with forensics, refuse to eat anything green, and love a good Mai Tai on the beach on Kauai.

Audio Book Lovin’ Presents: Angela Dawe’s Top 5!!!!

Viviana, Enchatress of Books and I are beyond excited to have one of my favorite narrators on the blog today. I fell in love with Ms. Dawe the moment I picked up Slave to Sensation, book one in Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series. I love that Ms. Dawe is able to do so many voice. Each with their own personal twists, turns and sounds. It is amazing to listen to a story and know who is talking before the narrator reads the words. Let me start by introducing you to the amazingly talented Angela Dawe.

Angela Dawe is an audiobook narrator and actress living and working in the Midwest. Audio Book Lovin’ Presents: Guest Blogger Skye Jordan + a giveaway

Viviana, Enchantress of Books & I are pleased to welcome author Skye Jordan to Audio Book Lovin’. We asked Skye to tell us what it is like to have her books come to life in the form of an audio book. But before I turn the blog over to Skye, let me introduce you to her.

Skye Jordan’s New York Times bestselling novels are all about enjoying that little wild streak we all have, but probably don’t let out often enough. About those fantasies we usually don’t get the opportunity to indulge. About stretching limits, checking out the dark side, playing naughty and maybe even acting a little wicked. Skye also writes romantic suspense as Joan Swan, weaving fast paced novels of passion, danger and suspense.

Skye is a California native recently transplanted to the East Coast and living in Alexandria, Virginia, just outside Washington DC with her husband of 25 years. She has two grown daughters in college in Colorado and Oregon. In her free time she’s always taking classes and attending seminars. She’s currently loving mosaics, forensic sculpting, pastry and cooking classes, knitting and rowing on the Potomac.

“How it feels to have your books come to life as an audiobook.”

When you have the right narrator – and the narrator is key to the audiobook universe – it’s freakin’ awesome.

Really freakin’ awesome. I can’t lie.

I searched and searched for the perfect voice for my Renegades novels, and it was worth all the time and angst, because Piper Goodeve is an amazing narrator.

Listening to her read Reckless for the first time blew me away—because she didn’t read Reckless, she performed Reckless. Piper is a member of SAG, the Screen Actors Guild, for good reason. She is an actress. She didn’t just read the words I’d written, she read the emotion I’d sculpted into the story. She interpreted the character behind the hero, heroine and secondary characters on the page and made them actual living, breathing people. I can’t explain how different the story felt to me as I listened to Piper perform it – and I wrote the darn thing! Edited it over and over and over. It was pretty crazy. And I felt like that every time she performed one of the Renegades stories.

So, for me, having my work translated into audio was absolutely amazing.

Now, I know some people—even avid readers—aren’t audiobook fans. Some say they get bored. Some say their minds wander. Some say they “see” so much more of the story when they read than when they hear it. And I get that, because I’m an audio and visual learner and I visualize and learn much better when I hear or see something. So, I understand that audiobooks aren’t for everyone. But I also believe there is a bit of an enjoyment curve to audiobooks, a little like there is to wine. Something you develop an appreciation and love for as you come to understand the depth of what audiobooks can offer that reading can’t.

I see my books as movies in my head. Writing those books is a tedious exercise of translating those clips into words that convey the mood and emotion I visualize onto a two dimensional black and white page of nothing but words. A lot can get lost in that translation. An excellent narrator is like a skilled painter, drawing out the highlights and shadows of a work to add depth.

So, yeah… Having my books come to life as audiobooks is freakin’ awesome.
