Welcome back Darynda. I am so excited to have you back on the blog. Thank you for taking time out of your very busy schedule to stop by and answer a few questions.
#1 So, *looks longingly at D* what’s new? Anything exciting happening in your world these days?
Well, I’m currently working on rewrites for the second in the Darklight Trilogy, Death,
Doom and Detention. Then it’s on to Fifth Grave Past the Light, the fifth in the Charley
Davidson series. I also have three other series started, but I’m trying to focus. Not easy
when you really do have ADD. 🙂
#2 Oh Yeah!!! You have a couple new books coming out… Can you tell us about your latest book in Charley’s series?
Absolutely! In Fourth Grave, we learn a lot more about Charley and her powers as well as about Reyes. Many questions are answered. And, naturally, we have a fun mystery to look forward to. But I think the heart of this book is the development of the relationship between Charley and Reyes. Let’s just say LOTS happens and leave it at that. *evil grin*
#3 How long do you foresee Charley’s series to go on? And what is next for Charley?
My editor wants it to be ongoing, so there’s just no telling. I would love
it to continue for quite a while longer. I adore writing about Charley and her
antics. As for the next installment, I am hoping Fifth Grave will be quite a bit creepier. I want it to be a tad scary. I AM writing about the grim reaper, after all. I think she should have some creepy moments in her life. As an added bonus, I’m hoping to cause a few nightmares, but I doubt I can write that scary. Charley is always cracking jokes and ruining it for me.

Well, as you’ve probably guessed, the series is about a female PI who was born the
grim reaper. She solves mysteries for both the living and the dead. She has a best
friend-slash-receptionist who is the coolest sidekick a grim reaper could ever hope for, a
dark and mysterious lover who gives her more trouble than he’s probably worth, and an
associate in the form of a skip tracer who once tried to have her committed. Along with
the rest of her circle—some alive, some not so much—she attracts trouble like a spill on aisle 8 attracts a lawsuit. But she does it with style.
#4 What is the one book everyone should read before they die?
Just one? Wow. Okay, I think I am going to have to stick with one of my favorite classics and say To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. That book touches on so many sensitive issues that are still relevant today. And it does it beautifully.
#5 Who is your celebrity crush? And what would you do if you ever meet them?
Okay, I have to admit, this changes about every six months. Right now, it’s Jeremy Renner. He is an amazing actor. Skill is sexy. And his eyes are so expressive. He is just such a hottie. If I just happened to meet him, I would probably stare. He would get really uncomfortable. I would continue to stare. He would ask me to stop. I would nod and continue to stare. He would call security. It would be a mess. I think I’ll stay in my writer’s cave where I belong. I can’t be trusted.
#6 Is there anything else you would like to add?
Besides my undying love and gratitude??? Nope. I’m good.

I love this series!!! So witty and funny. From the witty chapter headings, the banter with Charley and well, everyone, to the hot scenes with Reyes – the entire series is perfection.
I absolutely love Charley’s constant chatter. She’s always saying something so funny. I love her wit! I also love the way she interacts with the other characters. Please keep these books coming, Darynda! This is one of my favorite series.
I LOVE the Charley series and of course the amazing Darynda Jones 🙂 I truly hope she does keep the Charley series ongoing, but if not I’ll cherish the books she does release. Darynda is so talented and yet seems to be so down to earth and fun. She is just awesome and I adore her books.

I have never read this author, so it would be new to me. The stories sound like a lot of fun though.
I love Charley’s wit..I love how she draws me into her world and makes me crave more. These books are not a casual read. The moment I open the books – I’m done…nothing will get me out til the last page is read. Of course, I am then jonesing for the next book….lol

Charley Davidson is one of my favorite series! LOVE IT! Charley, Reyes, the LOL humor, the secondary characters, the bumper sticker/t-shirts quotes…love it all. Can’t wait to read this!! Darynda herself rocks! I met her in person at RWA in July which was such a great experience. So glad you get to meet her too 🙂

Darynda’s books, the Charley Davidson series, are some of the best I have read in years. I cannot wait for Fourth Grave. I am so freaking excited to get more of Charley and REYES!

Just started First Grave last night for the third time through! This time I’m reading it to my sister. It will be the first time for her. I just the first chapter last night and she was giggling and laughing out loud… I love to read to her and share the books I’m most excited about – and she gets the benefit of an audiobook without the cost! I work for chocolate… cheap, but not easy – that’s me!

Haha! Even the interview answers had me smiling. I think her written ‘voice’ is just captivating which is what I like about the Charley Davidson series. I enjoyed it so much that my laughs got the curiosity of my elderly mother who insisted that I begin reading the first book out loud to her and she enjoyed it too. We agreed that the contrast of a wise-cracking grim reaper was the best part of the stories.

The fun that the books give me when I read them, the laughs and also the relationships…I love them all!
The first time book I read, I was quivering with excitement, trying to figure out the characters. They were so real and the sexual tension between them was breathless. Awesomely, well-written books!
I love the unique characters. Due to the vivid descriptions, I am able to picture these characters in my mind and get caught up in all that happens! Can’t wait for this book!!!!
