Purrs and Lace by D. McEntire

Angel has lead a very hard life.   She has growing up in foster home after foster home only to end up living on the streets, with hookers, drug dealers, and Devin, the controller of her world.   Angel knows that if she doesn’t get away from this life of the drug and Devin it will someday killer her.  Just when she is almost out of hope, a spray of bullets hits the house she know this is her last chance.  Grabbing some of Devin’s money and drugs she runs.
Jonah is just your average man.  He lives with his uncle and little sister after losing his parent.    When hunters start invading their land something needs to be done to protect the younger ones.  Being every vigil about his little sister safety he never lets her go out on her own.  So when he takes Abby out for their nightly run, nothing seems out of place until her stumbles upon the body of a young woman.
Jonah doesn’t understand why but he is driven to save this stranger, for she could have been sent her to set traps too, except she is not dresses like a hunter.  Taking her back to his home, Johan know he needs to find a way to help her.  When Angel wakes up in a warm bed and safe she is beyond confused.  Surly she should be dead, but she is not.  Trying to figure out where she is, she starts to panic until he walks into the room.
Angel has had to fight all her life for nothing and when she finally finds that one good thing it is ripped from her.  She knows that this time there is truly no hope for her and finally gives up.  But Jonah’s undying love for her will never let her go not matter what has happened to her in her past.
Sometimes true love is easy and other times true love must battle every step to have any hope of surviving.  Will Jonah and Angel find love easy or is this battle too much for both of them to handle.
My thoughts:
Jonah is immediately drawn to Angel and is not sure why.  It has never been easy for Angel to trust, but there is something about Jonah that makes her trust right way. Angel could not have been found by a better guy.  Jonah is so caring, understanding and patient with her.  There is nothing that she can do that will make him care less for her.  But that doesn’t mean that it is an easy road for these two. They have many battles to face, demons to slay and emotions to struggle with.   But if love can survive this battle it should be able to stand the test of time.
This story has some very dark issues that have to be dealt with.  Angel is a drug addict, abused physical and emotional.  But even with all of this I did enough this story. But I was left wanting more, OH so much more but in a good way.  I wanted to know more about Jonah and Angel’s relationship.  I want to know how they both fair in the future.  I want to know more about Abby and Jonah’s Uncle.
