Interview & Giveaway with Donnelly Mackenzie

Books-n-Kisses is pleased to welcome Gayle Donnelly & Robyn Mackenzie to the blog today.

Gayle Donnelly and Robyn Mackenzie both hail from the Midwest.  Writing partners as well as friends (perhaps even sisters in another life), both are married and each has two wonderful children. The similarities don’t stop there. Both earned degrees in English education, both have a profound weakness for Starbucks coffee, and both are completely captivated by the ethereal beauty found in the Pacific Northwest. Their individual passions for writing and storytelling, led them to create Infinite Betrayal, the first book in their Infinity Series

Welcome ladies, I am so pleased to have you here today. I am very excited to talk about your new book Infinite Betrayal book 1 in your new Infinity Series
Gayle/Robyn: Thank you so much Kelly!  We’re so excited about having our story featured here!!
Kelly:  Can I get you ladies anything?  Coffee, Wine, Chocolate?
Gayle:   Sauza margarita on the rocks, no salt.  Wait, it’s after 12:00 right?
Robyn:  Wine works for me…Chardonnay please.
Kelly: Shall we get started?
Gayle/Robyn:   Sure Kelly!  Giddy up!
Q1) Can you each tell us a little something special about the other one?
Robyn: Probably one of the most special things about Gayle is she balances me and forces me out of my comfort zone when needed. She’s much more of an extrovert than I am and I’ve grown so much in that area because of her. She’s also the type of friend you can call at 2:00 in the morning and she’ll be at your house in 10 minutes, no questions asked.
Gayle:  There are several things I can think of but I think the most important is that she  – no matter what the situation – will always fill where I am lacking.  If I am depressed or stressed about something, she always ends up being my touchstone to bring me back to reality.  When I need something, she provides – no matter what.
Q2) What is it like co-writing a book together?
Gayle/Robyn: It has been such a fun and rewarding experience and it’s actually brought us even closer as friends. Our writing styles are very similar, which helps tremendously. We also do better when we get together to plot out the storyline and do character development. We seem to feed off each other’s creativity and imagination so the story quickly evolves. Most important, we take constructive feedback from each other extremely well because we have such a high level of trust in each other’s opinions.
Q3) Is Infinite Betrayal the first book you have co-written?
Gayle/Robyn:  Yes.  We were sitting out in my (Gayle’s) backyard by the pool watching the kids swim when Robyn looks over at me and says, “Ya know…we can do this…we can write a book.”  Of course, I looked at her like she was insane but the more we talked about it, the more we started believing we could write a story that readers would love.  Our process is ever-changing but we can adapt to each other with ease.  The key for us is that we don’t take offense to any constructive criticism that each other provides.  We accept each other’s opinion and actively listen to each other’s suggestions or critiques.   Our voice on paper is seamless and because of our personal relationship, we just work great together.
Let’s talk books:
Q4) Book one is Infinite Betrayal. Tell us a little about Mathias and Mina’s story
Gayle/Robyn:  Infinite Betrayal starts out with the death of Mina Roarke’s mother and the mystery surrounding the background of an absentee father.  She travels to Germany to try and get answers when she comes in contact with Mathias; who says he has been sent from this mysterious father of hers that she knows nothing about.  She soon finds out that her heritage is not what she ever thought it would be and is quickly thrust into a war between two species that have been in existence for thousands of years.  Mina becomes the target and well, you will have to read the story to get the rest!!
Q5) Tell us about Mathias & Mina…
Gayle/Robyn:
Mina is a complete smart ass but her best attribute is her loyalty to the people she loves.  She has major trust issues but once someone is in her fold, they stay there.  She has long, auburn hair, is about 5’6, lives outside of Seattle and works as an insurance adjuster.
Mathias is the youngest General of the Coteri.  His parents died when he was young so he was raised by Roderick, King of the Coteri Race.  He worked extremely hard to overcome the stigma of being raised by the king and proved to himself and everyone around him that he earned and deserved the rank of General of the German Coteri forces.
I do have an idea of how I saw Mathias but not Mina.  I really never tried to picture her as someone that already exists.  I can see her in my mind but there isn’t anyone out there that reminds me of her.
For me, Mathias is Taylor Kitsch:

Q6) Book two is Infinite Surrender.  This is your current work in progress.  Can you tell us a little more about it.
Gayle/Robyn: Infinite Surrender follows the story of Chloe and Talon, who are both introduced in Infinite Betrayal, and continues the storyline progression from the first book. It takes place in the Pacific Northwest but unfortunately, we can’t tell you too much about the story since we don’t want to give away too many secrets from the first book. We can tell you that Talon is all Alpha and he definitely meets his match in Chloe. Infinite Surrender is action-packed and introduces several new interesting secondary characters. And of course, the romance/heat level is hot, hot, hot!
Q7) Book three is Infinite Desire.  What can you tell us about this book?
Gayle/RobynInfinite Desire takes place in New Orleans and centers around the General of the South; Devereux.  I don’t want to get too much into the story but I love the outline we have come up with.
Q8) Who came up with the idea for the Infinite series?
Gayle/Robyn:   Not to sound too Stephenie Meyer but, I (Gayle) had a dream about an older, extremely handsome man standing at the top of a royal blue staircase.  He was a powerful king over a non-human race and when he came to the bottom of the stairs, there were incredibly hot, warrior-type men surrounding him.  Now, either this was an incredibly M/M/M dream or I could take it and run.  I woke up, wrote everything I saw in my head down and then went back to bed.  Later the next day, I told Robyn about the dream and the world of the Coteri was born.
Q9) How many books do you foresee in the future for the Infinite Series?
Gayle/Robyn:  Right now, we have a trilogy planned.  If readers want more, hopefully we can continue the story.
Q10) Can you share with us a typical writing day when you are co-writing a book?
Gayle/Robyn:   Since we both have day-jobs, our writing consists of late night writing and weekend binges. Lots of phone calls and face to face meetings to make sure we’re on the same page with the storyline and character development.
Q11) Do you have any writing rituals. Things you have to have while writing?
Gayle:  I need my iPod in my ears.  Depending on what type of scene I am writing, I need background music.  That’s why when you listen to the playlists on our website, they fit the story in my mind perfectly.  Music is key for me when writing.
Robyn: I actually do best when I close myself off from everyone and write in the peace and quiet of the night.  I usually get the family to bed and to sleep then get back up and get lost in my writing.
Q12) I have to say that I am in love with your slide show on the blog of your inspirations. I live close to Multnomah Falls and it is beautiful, the hot guys, and great landscapes but I have to say this picture is my favorite.  ————–>>>
Do you have a favorite in your gallery?
Gayle:  Mine would be the shot of Robyn and me in front of the fountain at Pat O’Brien’s in New Orleans.  This was Robyn’s first trip to the Big Easy and I so loved introducing her to the culture there.  We had such a wonderful time and fully plan on attending Authors After Dark next year in NOLA.
Robyn: Mine is definitely the picture of Multnomah Falls. I lived in Washington State for several years and even though the Falls are in Oregon, it just perfectly depicts the ethereal beauty of that part of the country.

Q13) What is hardest part of co-writing a book?
Gayle/Robyn:  We work with one person as primary on a story…meaning they own the characters.  They have the best idea of what each character looks like, acts like, would say or do, etc.  The primary is also responsible for the base storyline.   The other is a support person…helping with plot, placement, wording, grammar, and how the story flows.   For both of us, the hardest part is trying to manage time.  We both have day jobs, we both have two kids, husbands, houses to keep, and sometimes it all just comes crashing down at around 2:30 am.
Q14) What do you say we do a little rapid fire questions for you two?

Donna, Welcome to Books-n-Kisses.  I am so excited to have you here today.  Thank you for taking time out of your very busy schedule to sit down with me and talk about your books.
Donna: Thank you, Kelly!  It’s great to be here.

BK: First, I have to know how was your trip to Scotland?

Donna: It was spectacular.  I’ve been wanting to go for as long as I can remember, and to finally see the place that holds such a special place in my heart was amazing.  Words cannot express the untamed beauty of the land.  I will be going back the first chance I get. J

BK: Did you get some great inspiration for new books?

Donna: I did, actually.  How could I not driving amid the Highlands and visiting castles and lochs? lol

BK: Speaking of books tell us a little about your Dark Sword series:

{Bk1 Dangerous Highlander, Bk2 Forbidden Highlander, Bk3 Wicked Highlander, Bk4 Untamed Highlander, Bk5 Shadow Highlander & Bk6 Darkest Highlander}

Donna:  The Dark Sword series is a historical paranormal series set in Medieval Scotland.  I created my own mythology when I put together this series starting with one simple question: Why did Rome really leave Britain?

So, I took my own spin on things and used Druids.  Since no one really knows what the Druids were (evil or good or a mixture), I used them, both good and evil, to put the basis of my mythology.  IOW, I used the droughs, or evil Druids, who used their black magic to call up ancient gods long buried in Hell.

Those gods used the strongest man in each family as a host, and they won against the Romans.  But the gods wouldn’t leave the Warriors, so it took the droughs as well as the mies (good Druids) to bind the gods inside the men.

Yet the gods traveled through the bloodline through generations until a drough was able to unbind them, thereby giving us Warriors once more.

Some Warriors fought back against the villain, and together with other Druids fight to keep her from ruling the world.

BK:  I know the extremely talented Pickyme (aka Tricia Schmitt) did the cover art for Untamed Highlander, Shadow Highlander & Darkest Highlander, which I have to say that I love. How do you think they turned out?

Donna: I think they turned out brilliantly.  I’d been wanting the covers to show more paranormal, but my publisher was hesitant to do it.  I’m so pleased they went ahead and did it with these three books .
BK: Shadow Highlander release date is tomorrow (Aug 30th) and Darkest Highlander will be released January 2012.  Can you tell us what is next in the Dark Sword Series after Darkest Highlander?

Donna:  The series will spin off.  I hate to call it that because it is the same characters and a continuing storyline, but something huge happens at the end of DARKEST HIGHLANDER that there’s a massive change.  So they opted to call it a spin off.  The new series will be called Dark Warriors, and the titles will be different, but I’ll have two sets of back to back releases.
MIDNIGHT’S MASTER – June 2012
MIDNIGHT’S LOVER – July 2012
MIDNIGHT’S SEDUTION – Nov 2012
MIDNIGHT’S WARRIOR – Dec 2012
BK: Do you know how many books you are going to have in the Dark Swords series or is it open-ended at this time?
Donna:  Ah, I know how many, but I can’t say right now.  It would ruin some things in the coming books.  I just turned in book 10, so there will be more after that. J

BK:  Can you share with us a little about the Dark Warrior Series coming in 2012.
Donna:  Sure!  I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want any spoilers out there, but it’ll be a bit different.  I love where the books have taken me and where the characters are going, and I hope the readers do as well.

The stakes get raised with each book, and each Warrior has a lot more to lose – and gain.  Sometimes I even wonder how they’re going to get out of a situation. J
BK: Do you have any cover art for these books yet?  Is Pickyme (aka Tricia Schmitt) designing these for you?
Donna:  I’m supposed to see a cover soon, but unfortunately I have no idea if Tricia is doing the covers or not.
BK: Let’s learn a little more about your Donna.  Tell us 10 fun facts about yourself.
Donna: I love going to the movies.
I get motion sickness.
I hate spiders.
I love a good glass of wine.
My favorite color is burgundy with black running a close second.
I wear a size 3 in kids shoes.
I used to work in accounting.
I have an extensive movie and TV series collection
I’m not a fan of cold weather.
I believe in ghosts.
BK: Who is your all-time favorite author and why?
Donna: Oh, I don’t think I can narrow it down to one.  So many authors have influenced me over the years.  One of my earlier favorites was Johanna Lindsey.  I devoured everything she wrote.

I loved Julie Garwood’s historicals.  Shana Abe has such a unique flow to her writing that just sucks me right into the pages.  I love how Lara Adrian develops her characters and her series.

And I could go on and on. J

BK: Have you ever thought about co-writing a book? If yes, with who and why?

Donna:  I don’t ever say never to anything, but this is one thing I’m not sure I would pursue.  For one, I’m a panster, meaning I have no idea where my story is going when I sit down each day to write.

And to co-write a book, both authors have to have the same idea for the story.  That’s not easy to achieve.
BK: Are you a plotter or panster?
Donna: lol.  Panster
BK: Do you ever get writers block? If yes, what do you do to move past it?
Donna: Not really.  Some days are harder to write than others and paying bills, going to the mail box, or even answering emails will give my mind the break it needs so that I can get back into the story.
BK: How has your family been supportive of your writing?
Donna:  Definitely!  My husband was the one to push me to try writing.  I wrote my first book while pregnant with my oldest, so both my kids have grown up with me at the keyboard.
BK: Tell me about your Druids Glen Series?
Donna: My Druids Glen series was the first series published.  I love writing about Druids and Scotland, and I had such fun researching Druids.  The series centers around three sisters who hold magic to control elements.  It will take special Highlanders to hold their hearts and protect them as only a Highlander can.
BK: Do you foresee writing anymore books in this series?
Donna: No.  It was just supposed to be three books, but then I wrote Lugus’ story because he just wouldn’t leave me alone.  Then, I had so many requests for Frang to have his own story that I gave him one as well.

After that, I just couldn’t leave poor Aimery out there without his story.  J
BK: It looks like you are going to have a few re-releases coming up starting late summer.  Can you tell us a little about these books? Any one you are extremely excited to re-release?
Donna: I’ve been hesitant to re-release these older books.  For one, my writing has changed since they were first written.  I had intended to go back and revise them, but my schedule just wouldn’t permit it.

I was very excited about DRAGONFYRE, which was Aimery’s story.  I loved writing his book.  I’m also really excited to release the first contemporary paranormal I ever wrote – PRIMAL HEAT.  It’s a Halloween novella featuring werewolves.  It was fun to write, and has actually outsold many of my earlier books.

BK: Do you have a favorite character out of all your books?  Who & Why?

Donna:  Whatever character I happen to be writing at the time is my favorite.  I think because I’m so deep in their heads that they cannot help but become my favorite.

BK: Do you prefer writing series over stand-alone books. If yes, why?

Donna: I love writing series.  I love seeing characters from previous books and looking in on their lives once more.  Plus, as a reader, I get more invested in series than I do stand alone books.

BK: What is the best piece of advice you ever got about becoming an author that you would pass on to someone wanting to become an author?

Donna: Keep writing.  Stop revising and just finish the damned book.

It was invaluable advice.

Books-n-Kisses: Donna, Thank you so very much for taking the time to stop by my blog.  I have really enjoyed learning more about you and your books.

Just Gotta Say by Laura Kaye Video Release…… & giveaway

I am pleased to present the debut of Laura Kaye’s video for her upcoming release
Just Gotta Say (Release date Sept 30th)……. Enjoy

JUST GOTTA SAY By Laura Kaye                          BLURB:
Callie Davis stumbles upon two of her three male roommates in a surprising, molten-hot midnight tryst and discovers a side of herself she never knew existed. Desire to play with them grips her, and she can’t stop fantasizing about having multiple men, particularly her three long-time best friends.
Callie is thrilled when a guys’ night out gives her the perfect opportunity to recreate her fantasy, with the help of a threesome porn video and a bag of sex toys. That is, until Lucas, Jack and Noah return early and catch her in the act. More than anything, the guys want to make her fantasy come true. But Callie has a secret, and she can’t help wondering if being with all three men will risk the future she’s always wanted with one of them.
As three strong sets of hands caress and undress her, Callie surrenders to desire, because sometimes you just gotta say…yes.

EXCERPT:

Broad, muscular chests and hot, male flesh surrounded her. She swallowed as her gaze raked over each of the men. They were all hers for the taking. At least for tonight. And she was damn sure going to make the most of it.
Heaving a deep breath, she drew her stare from the men’s bodies and crossed her arms over her breasts. “Now,” she said. She winked at Lucas and nailed Jack with a stern gaze. “You said I could have whatever I wanted, right?”
He grinned and nodded.
She waggled her finger between Jack and Noah. “Then I expect to see you two enjoying one another, too.”
All three men went still.
She giggled at the flummoxed expression on Jack’s face. It was nearly impossible to embarrass him or catch him off guard. She grabbed Noah’s hand and pulled him closer.
“What do you think started all this anyway? I wasn’t so obsessed with this particular fantasy until I saw the two of you together last weekend.”
The boys traded glances, mouths gaping, eyes guarded.
“Next time, shut your door. Otherwise, I am so gonna watch that shit.”
At her words, Jack’s expression grew amused and his cheeks flushed.
Callie looked at Lucas. “Do you mind?”
He shook his head. “Whatever you want.” He met Jack’s gaze then Noah’s. “I don’t mind.”
She pecked Lucas’s cheek. She knew he’d be cool about them. “So, it’s settled.”
“Thank fuck,” Noah muttered. His curse surprised her almost as much as the desperation with which he clutched Jack and planted an aggressive kiss on his open mouth.
Holy mother of kissing men! Callie turned so she could see them better and leaned back against Lucas’s huge, hard chest. His warm fingers skimmed up her stomach and cupped her full breasts.
“Watching them turns you on?” he murmured against her ear.
The guys were so forceful with each other, and now that they didn’t have to hide themselves, their passion burst uncontrollably from them. Masculine hands tugged hair. Bare, muscled chests pressed and rubbed. Erections ground together through denim.
“Yeah,” she rasped.
“How about this?” Lucas asked and thrust himself against her bottom as his fingers plucked at her nipples.
She whimpered. “Yes.”
“What else?”
“I want to see them naked,” she whispered.
“Say it louder.”
Callie swallowed. God, his commanding tone was sexy as hell. “I want to see them naked.”

Guest blog with Stephanie Beck & Giveaway

Books-n-Kisses, is please to let Stephanie Beck take over the blog today and talk about a perfect night.

Take it away Stephanie,

A Perfect Night:

Picture it: Eight thirty at night, the sun has been set for an hour, letting the darkness of night trickle further in. Stars in the sky don’t illuminate much, but the huge white moon gives light to the darkness. A cool breeze blows through, rustling leaves and kicking up little bunches of vegetation seeing its final days before the snows cover and make it food for the next year’s growth.
Alone in front of a window, the outside happenings only a distant second to the scent of cinnamon wafting from warm apple cider cooling in a turquoise colored mug. A comfy chair, soft sweats and a fuzzy blanket within reach.
Add in a bowl of chocolate candy and the scene is set for me to read anything and everything.
I love fall. It’s my favorite time of year to do most things, including read. As a mom and writer, I read all the time, but when autumn hits full force and I can steal an evening just for indulgence, I do.
Set your reading scene. Where and when? What’s beside you? What’s the story?
by Stephanie Beck
Blurb:
Marc kills demons. While he doesn’t love it, he’s happy to do his job, keeping people safe and destroying the brethren of the demons who stole his human life.
Beth lives quietly, content to stitch her samplers and fancywork in an era she wasn’t born to but is magically destined to live through.
A late-night visit changes both Marc and Beth’s worlds, reuniting them after over a hundred years, long after their love affair ended tragically during the Civil War. Back together, the two must decide what their future holds as they battle the real threat—a demon with a bad case of rose envy.
Excerpt:
The cat hissed again, and Beth sighed. “Fine, I’ll let you out, you stinking beast,” she muttered, going to the side door that released to the wraparound porch she loved. “Go on now, and don’t you— Who’s there?”
The figure at her front door, only three feet away from her, froze. It was the middle of the night, so she’d long ago turned off the porch light. Terror welled. Her longevity was a given, but she was still as easily broken as any human woman under five feet tall and just as susceptible to villains of the night.
“Elisabeth?”
The figure turned with her name on his lips. That voice. It sounded familiar, but she couldn’t place it. She flipped on the light switch for the hall behind her, but it didn’t help much, not until he came into the light.
“Marcato? But…how…how?”
She ran for him, the three steps taking only a heartbeat before she launched into his arms. He felt just the same as when she’d given him one final embrace before he’d gone off to fight with his brothers so long ago. How she’d loved her soldier boy, though before the war he’d been sweet and gentle, a young man on his way to the seminary to be a preacher.
She ran her fingers down his face, the same face she remembered in her dreams. Not so often anymore, but there was no way she could have forgotten about him. Not him.

Guest blog with Lee Brazil

I have turned my blog over to the capable hands of Lee Brazil……

Why’d You Do That?

On August 5th my first m/f book was released by Breathless Press.  (pause)  Oh- And Happy Anniversary month to Breathless Press!  They’re embarking on their third year in the business, and since I’m seeing their titles all over the best seller lists at various e-vendors… it’s looking to be a great year.

Anyway—  rewind – Friday August 5th, my first m/f book, Giving Up, was released by BP.  It is the third book in a planned series of six. One day it’ll have middle child syndrome, but right now, it’s my youngest child, thrust out vulnerable and unprepared into the world.  And… it’s different.

Book 1
I’m a third child as well.  Two older siblings and a whole herd of younger ones.  And I, too, was different than my older siblings.  All my life I walked into classrooms where teachers held up the yardstick of my vivacious, active eldest sibling and said- “Hmmm… you’re a quiet one, aren’t you?”  Or they remembered my second sibling, and said, “You’re a bit of a dreamer, aren’t you? Not at all the helpful and eager student your sibling is.” They were good with numbers and science.  I was not.  I excelled in languages and history, anything that I could read and understand.  I cannot tell you how many practical and well meaning guidance counselors pointed out the value of taking calculus instead of French 4, Physics II instead of sociology.

Relatives noticed the differences.  Family friends pointed it out.  “Lee is so quiet.  Why doesn’t Lee do this, or that?”  They shook their heads, I buried my nose in another book and tried to block out the words.  They didn’t really mean I wasn’t good enough.  They just couldn’t believe I was happy enough with my music and my books and my few good friends.  Who needs baseball and football? I had band practice and Steinbeck, and a friend with a fake id.  What else does a high school kid with pretentions to literary greatness need?

Book 2
Well, twenty something years later, I have an answer to that. You need to understand your audience.  I didn’t consider the audience when I wrote Brandon’s story.  Truth or Dare has been more successful than I dreamed.  The first two books however, were m/m, and that unintentionally created an expectation among readers that the whole series would be m/m.  It’s not.  Primarily it will be, but I wanted the series to showcase family in a variety of non-traditional forms.  So the first book is m/m, with a wide age gap.  The second is m/m/m with twincest.  Both of those stories end with children being included in the family.  Then there’s the third book.

It’s m/f.

Can’t tell you how many emails and pm’s I’ve received wanting to know why I did that.  They want to know why Brandon’s life partner isn’t a man.

I knew some people wouldn’t buy book 1 because it was m/m and some people just don’t read that sort of thing.

That’s cool.

I knew some people wouldn’t buy book 2 because it’s twincest, and some people just don’t read that sort of thing.

That’s cool.

Before Giving Up released I started picking up vibes from all over the social media.
Is that a woman on the cover of your new book?
            Is that m/f?
            What the ?

I started getting worried about poor Brandon.  My baby was heading out into a hostile environment.

It seems some people won’t buy book 3 because its m/f, and some people just don’t read that sort of thing.

That’s cool.

Brandon’s story does him justice in my opinion.  It illustrates a concept of family that is unusual and nontraditional in some ways, if not in the gender pairing.

Take a look, and see what you think!

Truth or Dare #3

Can Dr. Arden Grey teach Brandon Blake that giving up control is worth while, with the right woman?

Brandon Blake has a problem.  His family is fed up with his controlling ways. They don’t need him managing their affairs any more.  Brandon doesn’t want to lose his connection with his brothers, but he doesn’t know any other way to live.   He’s been in charge for a long time. Now his brothers are leaving home and making families of their own, and Brandon’s interference has caused some serious rifts. Brandon’s’ stressful job as CEO of the family production studio and his concerns for his brothers have contributed to the ulcer his doctor recently diagnosed. Therapy is supposed to help Brandon learn how to let go and give up the need to control every thing.  Brandon finds the counselor he’s been sent to intriguing, if a bit intimidating, though she has absolutely nothing in common with the women he’s dated in the past.

Dr. Arden Gray knows about control.  A survivor of marriage to a dominant, abusive partner, she’s spent the last twenty years turning her life around.  She’s learned to take control and has made a career of teaching others to do the same.  Brandon Blake is a surprise.  When his doctor sends Brandon to her, Arden isn’t sure how she can help the man.  But after a few sessions, she sees something intriguing hidden inside Brandon Blake, something that tells her he just might be the man she’s been looking for.  If only she can convince him that giving up control to the right woman will solve all his problems!

Interview & Giveaway with Vicky Dreiling

Books-n-Kisses is pleased to Welcome Vicky Dreiling to the blog today.  Vicky is the author of the fan named “How to” Series, How to Marry a Duke, How to Seduce a Scoundrel and How to Ravish a Rake (Spring 2012)

Vicky Dreiling is a confirmed historical romance junkie and Anglophile. Frequent business trips to the UK allowed her to indulge her passion for all things Regency England. Bath, Stonehenge, and Spencer House are among her favorite places. She is, however, truly sorry for accidentally setting off a security alarm in Windsor Castle.  That unfortunate incident led her British colleagues to nickname her “Trouble.”

When she’s not writing, Vicky enjoys reading, films, concerts, and most of all, long lunches with friends. She holds degrees in English literature and marketing. A native Texan, she shares her home with her daughter and a spoiled mini-lop rabbit that lives in a slightly gnawed cardboard cottage.

Hi Vicky, Welcome to Books-n-Kisses.  Thank you so much for stopping by and taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down and answer a few questions.

Vicky: Thanks for inviting me to your blog!

Q1) First, how was RWA?  Did you have a blast?  Are you finally recovered?

Vicky: RWA seems like a distant memory now, but I had a wonderful time. Every year, I see old friends and make new ones. The highlight of the conference was my very first book signing at the RWA Readers for Life Literacy Autographing.

Q2) Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Vicky: I’m from Texas and have held several interesting jobs including aerobics instructor, stay-at-home mom, and a 10-year stint in corporate marketing. I am a historical romance junkie and bought my first romance by accident at a supermarket. I didn’t know it was a romance until I started reading it. That book was ALMOST HEAVEN by Judith McNaught. I couldn’t put it down and have been hooked on historical romance ever since.

Q3) When did you decide you wanted to be an author?

Vicky: I wrote in diaries as a kid, but like most authors, the urge to write romance came from reading the books. One day when my kids were in school, I decided to write a historical romance for fun. I confessed my hobby to a friend. In a twist of fate, she happened to have seen a notice for a class on how to write a romance at a local branch of a university. I signed up for the class, and that led me to join RWA.

At one RWA meeting, there was a workshop on writing contests. I got excited when I heard that some of the judges were published authors. I entered five of them with the hopes of getting ‘critiques’ from published authors. Something unexpected happened. I won four of those five contests. I even finaled in the Golden Heart contest with that first manuscript. Ultimately, I did massive revisions for an editor without promise of contract, but the book wasn’t strong enough for publication.

After a trip back to college and several years ramping up a marketing career, I decided it was time to write again. The second manuscript was HOW TO MARRY A DUKE. Shortly after I began writing, I also started traveling domestically and internationally for business. That partly accounts for why it took me three years to finish the book. During that time, however, I also wrote three drafts of the book. Obviously, I was very determined to do everything possible to sell. Then I met my agent at a regional conference, and in 2009, I sold HOW TO MARRY A DUKE to Grand Central/Forever in a 3-book contract.

Q4) Let’s talk about your books (which I must say I love) in your fan named “How To Series”
Tell us about How to Marry a Duke.

Vicky: Thanks for your kind words about my books.

I got the idea for HOW TO MARRY A DUKE after watching one episode of The Bachelor TV show. When the episode ended, a premise popped into my head: The Bachelor in Regency England minus the hot tub and camera crew. At first, I resisted the idea. I couldn’t have those Regency misses jumping in a hot tub or going on overnight dates. Then I thought: But what if you could write a Regency-era version? I figured I had nothing to lose. How hard could it be? Can you hear my hysterical laughter all the way from Texas?

HOW TO MARRY A DUKE is the story of Tristan Gatewick, the Duke of Shelbourne, who needs a wife in order to beget the requisite heir he needs. The papers have dubbed him The Most Eligible Bachelor in England. Every silly belle in the ton is dropping handkerchiefs and fans for him to retrieve. Tristan is weary of playing fetch, so when he meets a matchmaker, he decides to retain her. Tessa Mansfield is a bit leery of Tristan, because he’s a notorious rake. However, she sees a golden opportunity for her matchmaking career. If she can successfully make a love match for the duke, maybe other gentlemen will seek her services. Unfortunately, Tristan is the most unromantic man she’s ever met. Nonetheless, Tessa is undaunted and sets out to teach him lessons in love. There’s just one little problem: Tristan and Tessa are having trouble resisting their growing attraction. Because the ‘courtship’ is public knowledge, they dare not give into their desire. He is honor-bound to marry one of the ‘bridal candidates,’ and she has a secret that could destroy them both.

Tell us about How to Seduce a Scoundrel

HOW TO SEDUCE A SCOUNDREL is a Regency-era spoof of THE RULES. The book features Lady Julianne and Marc Darcett, Earl of Hawkfield (aka Hawk), two characters from HOW TO MARRY A DUKE. When Tristan who cannot stay in London asks his best friend Hawk to act as Julianne’s guardian, Hawk is reluctant, but he can’t say no to his best friend. Hawk figures it can’t be too difficult. But at the first ball, he waltzes with Julianne and is stunned by his desire for her. She’s his best friend’s sister and is off-limits. When starry-eyed Julianne realizes that Hawk has no romantic interest in her, she’s heartbroken at first, but she decides to get even. With the help of friends, Julianne writes a lady’s guide to snaring bachelors in the parson’s mousetrap. THE SECRETS OF SEDUCTION causes quite a scandal, and Julianne must keep her identity a secret. Meanwhile, Hawk is having the devil of a time resisting his gorgeous ward. He’s got his own baggage and doesn’t believe he’s worthy of her. As Julianne discovers that Hawk has dark secrets, she realizes that the man she’s always known needs her love and belief in him.

Tell us about the next book How to Ravish a Rake

HOW TO RAVISH A RAKE is a Regency version of What Not to Wear to the Ball. Miss Amy Hardwick has spent several years as a hopeless wallflower, but this year, she’s determined to shed her shy reputation. Amy yearns to be one of the pretty belles, but she knows that’s impossible. However, she’s determined to be elegant and creates her own daring designs for gowns. Soon, the ton declares her the Fashion Darling of the Ton. But Amy’s wonderful night takes a scandalous turn when the most notorious rake in London mistakes her for his hussy in a dark library. That rake is none other than William Darcett, the man the scandal sheets have named the devil. After a steamy encounter with him, Amy thinks she’s escaped with her scruples barely intact. But the devil has other ideas, and Amy is having trouble resisting forbidden temptation.

Q5) What is after How to Ravish a Rake?

Vicky: Sorry, I can’t tell you yet, but keep an eye on my website for upcoming news.

Q6) Which of your characters has been the toughest to write and who has been the easiest?

Vicky: Hawk was the most difficult to write, because he hides his dark past beneath a clown mask. If readers are interested, I have a Behind the Scenes feature on my website that discusses his characterization in more detail. This feature contains spoilers, so I recommend reading the book first. Here’s a link to the article: http://www.vickydreiling.com/funstuff.html

Tessa was the easiest character to write, because I knew her history early in the planning process of HOW TO MARRY A DUKE, and I had some idea of how her past would affect the choices she made as the book progressed.

Q7) How did you come up with the idea for your “How to” Series?

Vicky: Once I got an agent, I needed to create sketches for follow-up books to HOW TO MARRYA DUKE (HTMAD) that we could submit to publishers. I positioned the follow-up books to contain spoofs of modern dating practices similar to HTMAD.

Q8) If you could co-write a book with any other author. Who would it be and what genre?

Vicky: I wouldn’t attempt it, because I can’t imagine meshing two voices in a novel. Some authors talk about developing their voices, but that doesn’t resonate with me at all. I write the way I write. Granted, I pay attention to diction to give my novels a historical flavor, so to speak, but I don’t overly season the prose with Regency parlance.

If you want to get an idea of what I mean by voice, take two historical romances written by two different authors and read portions of them aloud. You’ll probably note a marked difference in the cadence, the diction, and the sentence structure. I think there is a je ne sais quoi element to voice as well.

Q9) What are your writing rituals? Anything you have to have?

Vicky: I wear Bose Noise Cancellation headphones (from my old flying days) and listen to music on my iPOD. I’m a very good customer of i-Tunes. J

Q10) How does your play lists help you?

Vicky: I choose music that reflects scenes through either the lyrics, melody or both. In addition, each book has a theme song. The theme song for HOW TO MARRY A DUKE is I Believe in You by Il Divo and Celine Dion. Better Man is the theme song for HOW TO SEDUCE A SCOUNDREL. Right now, Sympathy for the Devil is the theme song for HOW TO RAVISH A RAKE. J

Q11) If you were not an author what do you think you would be doing?

Vicky: I can’t imagine my life without writing now.

Books-n-Kisses: Thanks Vicky for sitting down with me.

A Vampire’s Kiss: Book One of the Manigault Vampires

~Chapter 16~
Laura Stamps (c)
On Friday morning Sara rolls the plant cart off the elevator and turns toward Dray’s office.  Eight pots of colorful tulips sit on top of the heavy cart, while a roll of paper towels, a large watering can, and several spray bottles of herbal plant cleaner are stored underneath.
Dray’s office is first on her rotation schedule today.  Sara’s plan is to exchange the small plants in his office and clean the larger ones.
Then she’ll deliver her surprise.
On the way back to the greenhouse she’ll stop by Val’s office and take care of his plants as well.
It’s always a treat to visit the fifteenth floor.  Most of the offices at Manigault Technologies are decorated with stylishly framed, inexpensive prints and posters.  But the fifteenth floor is home to the executive suites.  Oil paintings hang in the hallways and offices, while exquisite Oriental rugs cover black marble floors.
Dray’s office is located at the end of the main hallway.  As Sara passes the big glass doors to Val’s office, she waves at his Administrative Assistant.  A knowing smile lights the woman’s face.  Then she lifts her hand and forms a “thumbs up” sign.
Sara bursts out laughing.  Obviously, Lacey spread the word about Sara’s surprise for Dray today.  What fun!  She’ll have to kid Lacey about it as soon as she reaches Dray’s office.
But when she arrives the reception area is empty.
“Lacey must be out,” Sara muses, tugging the heavy cart through the ornate cherry doors to stop in front of her friend’s desk.  “Guess she decided to leave me alone with her boss this morning.”  A sly smile curls her lips.  “Smart woman.”
Sara lifts a pot of English ivy from the corner of the desk, its leaves a sickly shade of dull green.  “Poor baby,” she soothes.  “I’ll take you back to the greenhouse and give you a nice herbal bath this afternoon.  You’ll be feeling sparkly again in no time.”
She sets the pot of ivy on the cart and gently runs her fingers over its weary vines.  Each leaf she touches immediately darkens to a healthier color.  Pulling a tissue from the pocket of her garden apron, Sara cleans a few grains of potting soil from the desk and then selects a cheerful pot of pink tulips to replace the ivy.
“Much better,” she observes, wiping her hands on the apron.  “Lacey is gonna love these flowers.”
When Sara looks up she catches her reflection in the antique mirror behind the desk.  Lifting her arms, she twirls once, watching her long blonde braid swing behind her back.  When she stops, she giggles and takes a minute to approve of her image.
Today she’s dressed in faded, hip-hugging jeans.  A thin teal sweater barely covers her flat stomach and allows the silver faery dangling from her navel ring to dance unhindered.
She chose her outfit with Dray in mind, knowing how much he loves this particular piece of jewelry.  A hot pink garden apron hides the faery for now.
“But not for long,” she whispers, grinning mischievously.
Sara walks to a coffee table in the reception area and replaces a weary-looking snake plant with a pot of yellow tulips.  Afterwards she cleans and fertilizes two miniature palmetto trees.  Then she swings open the heavy wooden doors to Dray’s office and pushes the cart through.
“Don’t you believe in knocking, sugar?” Dray asks, his head bowed in concentration.  He finishes the note he’s scribbling in a manila folder, closes it, and tosses his pen on the desk.  When he looks up, his eyes twinkle like warm cinnamon and a teasing smile tugs at his lips.
“Dear Goddess,” Sara purrs.  She stops in front of his desk and rests her hands on her slim hips.  “You look good enough to eat, big boy.”
Leaning back in his chair, Dray clasps his hands behind his head and laughs.  “You always surprise me, sugar.  I forget how freely you speak your mind.”
Sara ignores his comment while she unties the garden apron.  Dropping it on the plant cart, she saunters toward him, grinning triumphantly when his gaze falls to the faery navel ring.  His eyes flash to black for just a moment before returning to their normal color.
Dray looks up and winks at her.  Pushing his chair away from the desk, he opens his legs, allowing her to move between his thighs.  When he hugs her legs for a moment with his knees, she giggles.  There’s something about coaxing the playful side out of this serious man that totally turns her on.
Then again, everything about Dray turns her on.  Especially when she pushes him over the edge sexually.  And she intends to do just that.
Next.
Sara leans over and places her hands on his slacks, curling her slim fingers into his thighs, inches from his crotch.  “I’m a spontaneous Witch, remember?”
Dray chuckles and inclines his head.  “That you are, darlin’.”
Looking at him now, Sara can’t believe it’s been five days since she kissed him in the greenhouse storage closet.  She’d forgotten how his black hair shimmers almost blue beneath the florescent lights of the office.  As usual, it’s tied neatly at the nape of his neck with a dark ribbon and flows elegantly down to his waist.  Her fingers ache to wade through its silky waves.
Today he’s wearing a black pinstripe suit, obviously Karl Lagerfeld.  The jacket is neatly folded and lying over the back of an antique loveseat next to the desk.  A pale lavender dress shirt and orchid tie complete his outfit.
Dray shifts in the chair, and she notices he’s wearing another pair of expensive Italian loafers.  Black, of course.  His designer socks are a soft cashmere blend in a tasteful black and lavender argyle pattern.
Sara can’t help smiling.  The man always looks like he just stepped off a fashion runway.
His subtle cologne teases her senses, and she wonders if she’ll have the strength to carry through with her plan.  Once again, she underestimated the fiery effect his presence has on her libido, which is making it hard to concentrate.  All she can think about is how much she wants to jump him and impale herself on his delicious cock.
Right now.
But she can’t.
Dray opens his legs wider and reaches toward Sara, pulling her to him.  His cool fingers slip beneath her sweater and caress her hips.
“I do love this,” he muses, flicking the silver faery dangling from the ring in her navel.
“You’re so easy,” Sara taunts.  She slides her hands up his arms, enjoying the solidity of his lean muscles beneath the expensive weave of the lavender dress shirt.
Dray takes a deep breath and then exhales slowly.  “What is that exotic fragrance you wear, sugar?”  He inhales deeply again and growls.  “It was clinging to my skin when I left you at the greenhouse.”  His eyes darken.  “I had meetings the rest of the day, but that fragrance haunted me.  It made me want to bend you over this desk and take you hard and fast.”
“Alrightyyyy!” Sara exclaims, wiggling against his thighs.  “I knew there was a reason I liked you, bat-boy.”
Dray winces and shakes his head.
Before he can protest she places her finger on his lips.  “It’s called Egyptian Musk.  I order it online from an incense shop in California.”
“Mmm,” Dray hums, and his tongue darts out to lick the tip of her finger.  “Val could smell it on me, too.  He kidded me about it the rest of the day.”
“Did that bother you?”
“Val delights in bothering me.”  Dray sighs, looking exasperated.  He shifts in his chair again, and Sara notices his cock straining against the fabric of his slacks.
Oh, yeah.  He definitely likes her signature scent.
The sight of his steely bulge makes her want to purr.  But she resists.  This surprise isn’t about her.  It’s about Dray, and how far she can push him today.
The last time she saw him was Monday morning.  Now it’s Friday.  Almost five days with no contact is not acceptable as far as she’s concerned.  In less than two months she’ll be moving to Atlanta.  She plans to be incredibly well-fucked by this gorgeous man before she leaves Columbia.
Dray needs to realize that.  And fast.
“So,” he begins, the silver faery tumbling between his long fingers, “what made you think you could barge into my office unannounced, Sara?  I am your boss, after all.”
Leaning down, she licks the shell of his ear, and he shivers.  “Why should I knock?” she whispers.
“Because I might be on a conference call or in a meeting.”
“But you weren’t.”
“Not this time.”  He reaches up and strokes the base of her throat, lingering for a moment over her rapidly beating pulse.  “Did you miss me, sugar?”  He pulls her closer, and she balances both hands on the arms of his chair.
Slowly he brushes his lips against hers before initiating a smoldering kiss.  Sara sighs with satisfaction and presses in to taste more of him.  He chuckles, and his tongue snakes forward to dance with hers.
A few minutes later he leans back and kisses the corner of her mouth.  “Why are you here, Sara?” he murmurs.
She licks his bottom lip playfully.  “Your plants are on my rotation schedule this morning.”  She cups his face with her hands, stroking his cheeks with her thumbs.  “Plus, I want kisses.”
Dray’s fingers slide beneath the waistband of her jeans to toy with the black lace of her panties.  “Is that all?” he asks roughly.
“Nah,” Sara replies, slanting her lips over his.  She flicks her tongue into his mouth and kisses him deeply, while her right hand drops to his crotch.  When she wraps her fingers around his throbbing dick and squeezes gently, Dray groans.  Pulling back from their hungry kiss, she waggles her eyebrows.  “I want this, too, big boy.”
Dray chuckles and clears his throat.  “Darlin’, we’re in my office in the middle of the day.  I can’t fuck you now.  Not here.”
“But you said you wanted to bend me over this desk and give it to me hard and fast.”
Dray arches his eyebrows and laughs.  “Fantasy and reality rarely ever meet, sugar.”
“Oh, really, Dracula?” she challenges.  Her left hand grips his zipper and slides it down.  Before he can move she lifts his swollen cock from the folds of expensive fabric.  “They do for me all the time.”
“Sara, don’t,” he warns, and then jerks when she slides her fingers over the satin skin of his thickening shaft.
“Hush, big-boy,” she scolds.  “It’s almost lunchtime.  Let me play.”  She releases his cock and backs up, motioning for him to slide his chair up to the desk.
“Sara, you didn’t lock the door.”
She laughs naughtily while she sits for a moment on the edge of his desk.  “And this is supposed to discourage an exhibitionist?”
“Oh, no.”  Dray closes his eyes and sighs.  “I forgot.”
“I didn’t,” she chimes, dropping to her knees and ducking her head to scoot beneath the desk.
“Sara, stop,” he commands, reaching for her arms to lift her up.
Quickly, she grasps his thighs and licks a drop of salty fluid from the engorged head of his cock.  Dray stiffens and inhales sharply.  His grip tightens on her arms.  Not to pull her up, but to hold on as she sucks the crest of sensitive skin beneath the head, tickling it with her tongue.
“Fuck,” he exhales.  “You can’t do this here.”
Sara looks up at him and licks her lips.  She wraps her fingers around his hardening shaft and begins to pump slowly.  “But I am, big-boy.”  She giggles and pumps faster.  “I’ve been wanting to eat you ever since you nailed me in the greenhouse.”  She gives him a Fey smile and bats her eyelashes.  “Really.”
“Damn,” he moans, his jaw rigid as he struggles for control.  “You’re destroying me, Sara.”
“Well, it’s about time somebody did.”  She looks down at his gorgeously stiff cock between her hands.  “I’d say you’re long overdue, wouldn’t you?”
Dray shivers when Sara dips her head and takes his entire shaft into the moist warmth of her mouth.  “You look like an angel, sugar.  But I swear, you’re as dangerous as sin.”  He exhales roughly.  “I never know what you’re going to do.”
“Or say,” she adds.  Then she licks his erection from the root to the head in one slow, sensuous stroke.
“That, too.”
“Good,” Sara replies.  She wraps her lips around his shaft and pulls back, sucking slow and hard until his cock pops out of her mouth.  “You have no idea how much I love this.”
“Oral sex?” he asks, gritting his teeth when she sucks the swollen head of his dick, kissing the tiny slit after she flicks her tongue across it.
“Cocks,” she corrects, letting his dick pop out of her mouth a second time.
Dray hisses, and his shaft jerks with need.  “You did it again.”
“I know.  I can’t help it, Dracula.  I love everything about cocks, especially yours.  The musky way you taste.  How wonderful my tongue feels gliding over your soft, silky skin.”  She kisses the tip again.  “I love this fat head, ya know?”  She hums as she licks the bulging vein running down his steely shaft.  “I could eat you for lunch,” she whispers.  “And I think I will.”
Dray frowns and lifts his hips toward her.  “In other words, I’m in serious trouble.”
Sara looks up at him and gives him a saucy grin.  “Definitely.”
At that moment a sharp knock on the door causes Dray to straighten.  Quickly, he helps Sara scoot all the way under his desk.  Then he slides his chair forward to hide her presence completely.
“Dray,” Val says, striding into the office.  “I have those marketing reports you asked for.”
Sara presses her cheek to Dray’s leg, smothering a giggle.  Then she nips his thigh through the fabric of his slacks.  When he jumps she hears papers rustling.
“Are you okay, little brother?” Val asks.  “You look flushed.”
Before Dray can reply, he inhales sharply as Sara swallows his cock, slowly pulling back in long, sucking strokes.  With her right hand she pumps the root of his shaft again.
“No, I’m fine, Val,” he replies huskily.
“Okay,” Val says, not sounding convinced.  “Lacey wasn’t at her desk, so I thought I’d check to see if you’re free to discuss this.”
“No problem.  What can I do for you?”  Dray grips Sara’s arm and shakes it.
She ignores his warning and sets a tight, suctioning rhythm, swirling her tongue over the head of Dray’s thick cock.  Rock-hard now, his shaft twitches in her mouth.  When she reaches out and fondles his balls, Dray jumps again.
“I see Sara has been here,” Val comments, sounding amused.
“Oh?”
“Her plant cart,” Val continues.  “But I didn’t pass her on the way in.  Where is she?”
“Miss Gadsden had something she wanted to take care of first,” Dray replies.  His thighs tremble against Sara, while she relentlessly works his needy shaft.
If she could, she’d laugh out loud.  Val’s timing is perfect.  She had hoped her surprise would push Dray beyond his comfort zone.  But Val’s presence takes it to the next level.  She’s so turned-on she can feel her juices flowing through the lace of her panties, soaking the seam of her jeans.
Sara hears Val chuckle when the desk creaks above her.  He must be sitting on the edge like he did the first time she met him.
“There is the most unusual fragrance in this room.”  Val hesitates, and she can hear him sniffing loudly.  The man obviously loves to torment his brother.  “It smells like a mix of Sara’s intriguing perfume and something else.  Something hot and wet.”
Dray clears his throat irritably.  “Val….,” he warns.
“Don’t worry, little brother,” Val replies, laughing.  “I think we can have this discussion another time.”
The desk creaks again, and Sara can hear Val walking toward the door.
“Would you like me to lock this for you when I leave?” Val asks.
“Please,” Dray growls.
After Sara hears the door close and the snick of the lock she bursts out laughing.  She can’t resist.  Val’s interruption was so timely it was as if she’d planned it herself.  But she didn’t.  And that made it even better.
“Enough!” Dray exclaims, thoroughly exasperated.
He digs his heels into the Oriental rug beneath the desk and pushes back, rolling the chair away while lifting Sara to her feet in one effortless motion.
“Vixen,” he exhales, leaning back in the chair and taking a ragged breath.  His engorged dick is so hard it presses against his stomach like a flagpole.
“Wasn’t that fun?” she asks, clapping her hands and laughing out loud again.  “I just loved it!”
“You would, sugar,” he grumbles.
Standing between his legs, Sara looks down at him and sighs.  There’s no other way to say it: the man is simply gorgeous.
At this moment Dray’s face is flushed with sexual tension.  His eyes shine like onyx beneath lids heavy with lust.  His hair is no longer neatly gathered at the nape of his neck.  Now a few loose strands frame his moist face.  He definitely has the look of a man who needs release, and she wants him badly.
How did she ever think she could push him like this and deny herself?  Suddenly, her brilliant plan doesn’t seem like such a good one.
As if sensing her inner struggle, Dray begins to stroke his rigid cock still slick with her saliva.  Gone is the conservative businessman.  In his place is a wild creature, who watches her with the intensity of a seasoned predator.
The planes of his face seem sharper now, and his expression radiates raw need.  Knowing him, she’s sure it’s the blood lust of the Sanguinarian.  Still, his piercing stare almost melts her.  It’s so blatantly sexual.
And hungry.
Her pussy gushes, and she craves him with a hunger of her own.  Every cell in her body urges her to jump into his lap and ride him until they’re both sweaty and exhausted.
“Dear Goddess, you’ve got to be sexiest man I’ve ever met,” she breathes.
Before she can change her mind and ditch her plan, Sara drops to her knees and takes his thick cock into her mouth.  Massaging his balls with her fingertips, she feels them draw up tight against his groin.  She starts to hum, vibrating his shaft as she drags her tongue around the bulbous head, fluttering it over the sweet spot underneath.
“Damn!”  Dray wraps her braid around his fist.  “Suck me,” he commands, pumping his hips while he fucks her mouth.
His cock hardens like an iron rod.  Sara’s cheeks hollow while she runs her tongue across the head and then down his shaft.  Back and forth.  Up and down. Taking him deeply into her throat, she swallows to give the tip a squeezing, erotic kiss.  At the same time she pumps him with her right hand, working him thoroughly to the root.
A few minutes later he swells even larger, and an intense climax roars through him.  Sara looks up and watches Dray tip back his head and howl with feral pleasure.
Immediately, he tries to pull back.  But Sara digs the short nails of her left hand into his thigh, holding onto him as she swallows and laps up the streams of hot cum his pulsing dick shoots down her throat.  When he finishes, she tenderly kisses his softening shaft before releasing it.
Sitting back on her heels, Sara grins up at him and licks her swollen lips.  “That was quite a yell, big-boy.  Think Lacey is gonna call 911?”
Dray collapses in the chair and chuckles wearily.  Reaching up, he tugs the ribbon from his hair.  As he finger-combs his long tresses he pushes them away from his moist face.  Then he pulls out a drawer in the desk and grabs a monogrammed handkerchief to blot the perspiration from his forehead.
Taking advantage of the moment, Sara leaps up and straddles his lap before he can protest.  “Here.  Let me help you with that.”  She takes the handkerchief from him and gently dabs his face and neck.  A bead of sweat rolls down his cheek, and she licks the salty fluid with the tip of her tongue.
“No,” Dray finally replies, loosely wrapping his arms around her.
“No, what?”
“No, Lacey isn’t going to call 911.”  He takes a ragged breath and exhales slowly.  “She had a doctor’s appointment this morning and won’t return until after lunch.”
“You’re a lucky guy,” Sara giggles, kissing the corner of his mouth.
“And you, sugar, are a dangerous woman.”  Dray turns until their lips meet, and his tongue enters at a leisurely pace.  But when Sara moans, his arms tighten around her.  His kiss becomes aggressive, and he takes possession of her mouth.
Sara leans into him, surrendering completely.  Lust fuels her libido, and heat pools low in her belly.  She presses her fingers into his arms to keep from ripping the expensive designer clothes from his body and ramming his gorgeous cock inside her.
Breathlessly, Sara pulls away from his mouth when she feels her resistance slipping.  “You, Mr. Manigault, are a dangerous kisser,” she whispers.
Dray tucks a stray wisp of blonde hair behind her ear, his touch lingering while his thumb strokes the pulse at her neck.  “That was an incredible blow job, sugar.”  He bends forward, his hot breath caressing her neck as he nips her shoulder.  “I think you’re the one with the dangerous lips.”
Sara laughs and wiggles her ass against his thighs.  Unfortunately, it brings her clit in direct contact with his crotch, reminding her of how much she wants him.
Once again, as if Dray can read her thoughts, his hand moves down to cup her mound.  His thumb presses against that sensitive bundle of nerves while he massages her pussy.
It feels so good her resistance crumbles.  Sara closes her eyes and mewls as she bucks against his talented fingers.
When he removes his hand, she whimpers in protest.
“Shh,” Dray soothes.  Staring at her intently, he brings his fingers to his nose and takes a deep breath.  His eyes flash as black as a summer night while he inhales the spicy scent of her arousal.  Slowly, he lowers his hand, his dark eyes never losing contact with hers.  “What about you, sugar?  What can I do for you?”
“Nothing,” she replies, swallowing hard to bolster her resolve.
“No?”  He strokes her thighs, stopping short of her aching cunt.
Sara shakes her head, unable to trust her voice.  Carefully, she tucks his semi-hard cock back into his slacks and zips him up with trembling fingers.  “I like the idea of you owing me, Dracula.”
He lifts his eyebrows with surprise.
“Don’t worry.”  She glances up at him through thick lashes.  “I’ve got something reallllllly kinky in mind.”
Dray just looks at her.  Speechless and horrified.
A saucy smile lights Sara’s face.  “Payback is a bitch, isn’t it?”
“Damnation, woman,” he grumbles.  “You’re not dangerous.  You’re lethal.”
“Just figuring that out, huh?”  Sara laughs, rocking back on his thighs.  “Hey, ever notice how I’m always sitting on your lap before or after sex, bat-boy?”
“Do tell,” he murmurs.  “Almost looks as thought you’ve conquered me, doesn’t it, darlin’?”
“Maybe I have,” she whispers, nuzzling his neck, suddenly not as anxious to leave Columbia in January as she’d planned.
“What a weird thought,” she muses.  Then she nips his earlobe.
Hard.
“You bit me!” Dray exclaims, jerking back from her.
“Fair is fair, Dracula.”  Sara laughs again, the sound as high and clear as the tinkling of tiny bells.
Dray rubs his ear and frowns.
“What?  You thought you were the only one who could play vamp?”  Sara winks at him.  “Think again, big-boy.”  She places her finger on his sexy lips. “Remember, I’m an expert on vampires.”
“I know, sugar.”  A wry grin curves one corner of Dray’s mouth.  He lifts her hand, turns it over, and slowly presses a kiss to the center of her palm.  “I haven’t forgotten.”

KLB Blog Tour—Decadent Dreams Review & giveaway

Published July 26th 2011

Lazyday Publishing
119 pages
Erotic Novella
Beth Mason seemingly has it all. A successful bakery/café called Decadent Dreams, good friends, and a nice home in Stamford, New York.
After her previous boyfriend dumped her six months before for not spending enough time with him, Beth decided that she had been through enough and wanted more in a relationship. Throwing herself back into the dating scene, Beth decided to go onto an online dating website called, ‘A Foreign Affair.’
Enjoying the different types of men from all over the world that ‘A Foreign Affair’ catered to, Beth became struck by a handsome man from Belarus named Yuri who was the former manager of the famed Rhapsody night club. After realizing that they had a lot in common, the two struck up a close, intense relationship.
Yuri, who’s been depressed since his nightclub burned to the ground and watching his best friend’s parents both die from a terminal illness, decided to take Beth up on an invite and join her for a fun-filled weekend in New York City.
With both of them full of emotions, will the weekend be just what they needed or more than they bargained for?

My thoughts:
This book almost makes me wish I was single so I could try my hand at online dating.  But I am pretty sure that my online date would end badly. Unlike Beth & Yuri’s weekend of sex, a little sight seeing, dance, more sex and trying to figure out where they go from here.  I would like to think in a perfect world that this could happen but like I said I am sure that my online date would turn out to be an Ax murder or something.

I like this short story. I didn’t love it.. I kinda felt a little ho-hum about it.  Not sure what was missing for me that I couldn’t love it. Maybe I never connected to the characters.  It was a little slow at the beginning, but then picked up at the end.   I really liked the idea behind the story, but a last the story it self didn’t grab me enough for me to love.
