Interview with Cassandra Carr

Books-n-Kisses is pleased to welcome Cassandra Carr to the blog today. We are going to be talking about her new books Head Games, Caught, and  Impact

BIO: Cassandra Carr is a multi-published erotic romance author who lives in Western New York with her husband, Inspiration, and her daughter, Too Cute for Words. When not writing she enjoys watching hockey and hanging out on Twitter. Her debut novel, Talk to Me, was released by Loose Id on March 22, 2011. Head Games, Buffalo Intimidators book 1, will release on November 2, 2011 from Siren Bookstrand, and Caught will release December 13, 2011 from Loose Id. For more information about Cassandra, check out her website at http://www.booksbycassandracarr.com, “like” her Facebook fan page athttp://www.facebook.com/AuthorCassandraCarr or follow her on Twitter athttp://www.twitter.com/Cassandra_Carr.
Cassandra: Thanks so much for having me here today! I’m really excited to talk to your readers about me and my life and my books!

Q1) Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Cassandra: I’m a mom to a toddler girl and a wife to my wonderful hubby, who brings home the bacon so I can stay home and raise our daughter and write. I’ve only been writing seriously since 2008 and I sold my first book, Talk to Me (March 22, 2011 release from Loose Id) in November 2010. I live in the Western New York area and absolutely love it here!

Q2) Have you always wanted to be an author?
Cassandra: Honestly, no. I went to school for psychology but figured out it wasn’t for me, so I switched to human resource management. Guess what? Not for me either. Luckily I was able to move into market research and then into a broader scope within marketing. I was laid off from a dot com position at the end of 2005 and did some contract work after that, but couldn’t find another full-time job in the recessionary economy. So I started thinking about the box and decided to try to make a living writing.

Q3) Who are some of your favorite writers? Who do you feel has influenced your writing?
Cassandra:  I have so, so many authors that I love and that inspire me! Two of my favorites are Maya Banks and Lisa Kleypas, but like I said, there are tons of others. I wouldn’t say they influence me as a writer, though I certainly admire their skill! I don’t think anyone in particular influences my writing. I’m just me.

Q4) Can you tell us what a typical writing day for you is like.
Cassandra: LOL I wish there was a typical writing day, but since I stay home with my toddler, there really isn’t. While she’s awake I do all the “other” stuff involved in writing – my blogs, guest blogs, promotion, etc. When she goes down for her nap or goes to bed at night I get my actual writing done. I do have some daycare and I try to write a lot during those times.

Let’s Talk Books:
Q5) Can you tell us a little about your book Head Games?
Cassandra:  Head Games is book 1 in the Buffalo Intimidators series, and follows two hockey goaltenders as they pursue bistro owner Kelly. Kelly wants both men, but it takes a while for her to reconcile that fact within herself. Leo is a hoot and Scott is sweet and sexy.

Q6) Can you tell us a little about your book Caught?
Cassandra:  Caught is a BDSM holiday-themed novella. Callie comes home for the holidays and meets up with her former Dom Jack. She agrees to rekindle their dominant/submissive relationship while she’s in town, but Jack is playing for keeps. He just has to convince her of that, which is no small feat.

Q7) Can you tell us a little about your book Impact?
Cassandra:  Impact is a bull rider story with BDSM elements. Connor is a Dom, but only in secret – not even his best friend Brady knows. One night at a BDSM club, Connor’s identity is revealed and someone from the bull riding tour sees him. She’s a submissive who’s looking for some experience with BDSM and wants Connor to teach her. Then she falls in love with him and tries to make him see he can have everything he wants – a career, love, and a lifestyle he craves.

Q8) What is up next for you?
Cassandra: Oh, gosh, what isn’t? I’m nearly finished with the first draft of book 2 of the Intimidators series, Cold As Ice. And Ellora’s Cave will be releasing my short story Take Me at the Ballgame to help launch their brand-new line, EC for Men. I’m writing an anthology with two friends of mine that we hope to submit by the end of the year. I have about a million other projects going too, but those are some of the highlights!

Q9) What is the next book on your To Read Pile that you are dying to jump into?
Cassandra: That’s so hard to say! I’ve got – no joke – probably 200 books in my to-be-read pile or on my Nook. There are so many I can’t wait to read. I need about 30 hours in every day to even come close to accomplishing what I’d like to!

Q10) Is there anything else you would like to add?
Cassandra:  Just to keep watching my website at http://www.booksbycassandracarr.com to find out what’s releasing next! I expect to have a very busy 2012! Oh, and I’ll be at RT this year, so if you’re there, come see me at one of the book signings. I’m scheduled to do both.

Books-n-Kisses: Cassandra, again thank you so very much for making Books-n-Kisses a stop on your book tour.  I have enjoyed learning more about you and your book.  I look forward to reading and see what you come up with next.
Cassandra:  Again, thanks for having me. This was fun!

Guest blog with Sallie Lundy-Frommer author of Yesterday’s Daughter

The Slut – vs. – The Virgin      *      Jezebel – vs.- Eve
With promiscuity being so popular with characters like Samantha Jones in Sex and the City and Ray Drecker of Hung, it’s a wonder that writers are still using virgin heroines.  Let me say right now at the outset, I’m not coming down on one side of this issue or another.  I’m just putting it out there for discussion.
Now, back to virgins.  Writers can use a virginal heroine for both literal and metaphoric discovery about the character and her past.  It can be the impetus to an emotional revelation for both parties.  When the loss of maidenhood is used to propel the emotional trajectory of a story, often the act takes on “mystical” properties.  The intensity of the feelings aroused by her innocence sometimes creates an emotional virginity for her partner.  In some ways, this can place the characters closer to an emotional equilibration because it’s a new experience for both, although for one it is physical and the other emotional.
On the other hand, some writers may believe that readers find the idea of a woman sharing her first time with the hero of the story to be particularly exciting.  The whole awakening, opening, entering thing might be a great turn on for men, but let’s face it; most romance novels are read by women.  So, there must be an audience for this type of character.
Again, this posting isn’t my soapbox for saying that one type of character, virgin or not, is better than another.  For me, I love books with all kinds of sexual characters.  Whether the protagonist is male or female, vampire or human, elf or dwarf, virgin or slut…You see where I’m going with this…..(smile)   I just need to be emotionally attracted to the characters and everything else will fall into place.
What do you think?  Do you prefer the virgin or the Jezebel, and why?

Yesterday’s Daughter Book Summary
Paperback
Price: $12.99
ISBN: 9781460925232
Pages: 250
Release: January 24, 2011

An emotionally laden paranormal vampire romance novel woven with layers of betrayal, love and loss.

Grace Stone, who later learns her true identity is Sapphira, is a loner who survives abuse in the foster care system after being abandoned as a child. A brilliant student, she escapes from her brutal foster parents as a teenager and creates a life for herself. But, her life is little more than existence; plagued with questions about what she really is, a family that she has never known and the never-ending need to keep her differences hidden.

She is alone and lonely, believing it will always remain so until Malachi appears in her life. Malachi, a Guardian of the vampire communities, has searched for his life mate, Sapphira, for decades. He refuses to cease searching for Sapphira even though she is believed dead by all. Conflict arises over the decades between Malachi and his family because of his refusals to accept another mate. But his very soul drives him on to continue his search, knowing that he could not exist if Sapphira were not in the world, somewhere.

Sallie Lundy-Frommer Bio:

I can’t remember a time when vampires have gotten more attention. With shows like True Blood, The Vampire Diaries and Being Human and popular books like the Twilight and Dark Series, it’s seems like they’re everywhere. Vampires have always been my favorite supernatural characters. But why? Why am I fascinated with these fantasy beings? Why are you? My interest drove me to write a book, Yesterday’s Daughter. But I could have written about anything, werewolves, cat people or some other paranormal beings, but I chose vampires. Why, I wrote about vampires? I’m not sure I can fully explain why. Maybe I chose vampires because they exude prowess and majesty. But, that would be an all too simple answer. And when I think about it, I know it’s not a complete answer. But it’s a start. What do you think? Why are so many people so interested in these mythical creatures.

As for me, I was born on a farm in the rural South to a family of migrant farm workers. At an early age,my family moved to the urban North-East. Now I live in the suburban North-East with my husband and a large assortment of plants. I hold bachelors and masters degrees in Human Resource Management and currently work in the health care industry.

Interview with Marissa Dobson

Books-n-Kisses is super excited to welcome our good friend Marissa Dobson to the blog today.  We are so excited to share Marissa’s new story Snowy Fate.

Books-n-Kisses:  Hi Marissa, Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down and talk with me about you and your new release Snowy Fate.
Marissa: Hi Kelly, glad to be here.
BnK: Can I get you anything before we get started?  Coffee, Soda, Gummy bears?
Marissa: I would say gummy bears, but no one would get that since it is somewhat of an inside joke. So I am going to go with coffee. Nothing gets you going in the morning like a strong cup of joe.
Q1) Can you please tell my followers a little more about yourself
Marissa: There isn’t a whole lot to tell.
Born and raised in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, I now reside about an hour from Washington, D.C.  I’m a lady who likes to keep busy, and am always busy doing something. With two different college degrees, I believe you are never done learning.
Being the first daughter to an avid reader, this gave me the advantage of learning to read at a young age. Since learning to read I have always had my nose in a book. It wasn’t until I was a teenager that I started writing down the stories I came up with.
I am blessed with a wonderful supportive husband, Thomas. He is my other half and allows me to stay home and pursue my writing. My writing buddies Max (a cocker spaniel) and Dawne (a beagle mix) are always around to listen to me bounce ideas off them. They might not be able to answer, but they are helpful in their own ways.
I am the owner of Sizzling PR and co-owner of Ruby Lioness Press.
I love to hear from readers, you can email me at marissa@marissadobson.com Or visit me at http://www.marissadobson.com/
Q2) Who do you feel has influenced your writing style?
Marissa: It’s hard to narrow it down to one or two people. I would honestly have to say that every author I have read and talked to influenced me in some way.
Q3) What is your most interesting writing quirk?
Marissa: Who’s been spreading rumors? I’m as normal as they come. Honestly I don’t know if I have anything that is interesting. I have to have a drink with me, even if half the time it isn’t touched. I like having my curtains open so I can look out and watch the world go by while I’m writing.
Q4) What would you say is the most challenging thing for you about writing?
Marissa: The first page. Seriously starting a new book is the hardest for me. Once I get started there isn’t a problem but the first page is also like pulling teeth. To make matters worse I normally change it a few times so I keep putting myself thought the torment.
Order HERE
Q5) Can you tell us what inspired you to write Snowy Fate?
Marissa: Honestly I’m not sure. Sometimes things just come to me. I was sitting in my office trying to work on another project, and instead of staring at the blinking cursor I was watching it snow out my office window. One thing led to another and I closed the project I had opened and jumped into Snowy Fate. I couldn’t tear myself away from it and the first draft was completed in less than a week.
Q6)  Please describe Snowy Fate for us in 140 characters or less
Marissa: Only fate knows when you’re ready for love. A snowstorm, and a secret with bring two destined mated together.
Q7) Can you tell us what is up next for you (current WIP)?
Marissa: My current work in progress is the third book in the Live series, Fighting to Live. It is the story of Chase, Jay’s second in command (you will meet Jay in Learning to Live). He finally gets his story and finds true love, but it might be too late. The woman he is meant to be with is dying.  Chase makes her want to fight to live; he refuses to allow her to give up. Can Chase save her? Or will he lose her to a battle he can’t win?
Q8)  What do you do when you are not writing?
Marissa: That’s easy…work. Owning Sizzling PR (a marketing and public relations company for authors) and co-owner at Ruby Lioness Press my days are pretty busy. If I can get some me time, then I am reading.
Q10) Marissa, Is there anything else you would like to add?
Marissa: I recently transferred my website and now have a blog please bookmark it and follow it. Lots of great things coming there soon. Feel free to email me, marissa@marissadobson.com I love hearing from readers

A matchmaking party was not Melodie’s idea of fun, and wearing vibrating panties was just plain weird. Or was it?
Should she go to the party? After all, she just might meet Mr. Right. and if he doesn’t show, she has the vibrating panties ot keep things interesting.
Melodie’s arms fell to her sides, her jaw dropping open. “What do you mean I’m dressed like your grandmother? I am not!”
“Oh really?” Trudy hopped off her stool, strode around the table, and grabbed Melodie gruffly by the hand; she pulled her through the house like a mother with a naughty child.
They entered the brightly lit master bath. Trudy placed her before the full-length mirror and stood behind her. “Meet Grandma.”
Melodie’s green eyes stared agog at her reflection. Slouching white socks and purple fuzzy slippers covered her feet. She wore dark green flannel pants that fell to mid-calf, no makeup, her dark auburn hair in rollers, and a floral housecoat.
She brought her fingers to her lips. “Oh dear god. You’re right. I’m my own grandmother.” From NUMBER 69 by Casey Sheridan available from Breathless Press
***
Melodie’s look does change through the course of the story. She transforms into a sexy, beautiful woman and dresses in a way that shows off her femininty.
Now, aside from the rollers, Melodie’s outfit above sounds damn comfy. Actually, I’m dressed pretty close to that when I’m writing – HA!
I have to dress decently for my day job, but once home, I’m at my best in a comfy T-shirt and a pair of jeans. My favorite T-shirt is a man’s shirt that’s three sizes too big and covered in paint stains. I’ve worn it so much the material is thinned out and starting to get holes.
I love being comfy.
Do you have a favorite comfy outfit or piece of clothing?
Help me thank Kelly for having me on her blog today by leaving a comment about your favorite comfy outfit or piece of clothing. I know Kelly loves comments as much as I do! (Thanks so much, Kelly, for having me. Xoxo)
Since I’m out having surgery, my friend, and talented author, Eden Baylee (http://www.edenbaylee.com) will be showing up to answer your questions and respond to your comments. She’s an absolute sweetie, like Kelly, and a lot of fun too!

Interview & Giveaway with Jessica Subject

Hi Jessica, Welcome to Books-n-Kisses.  I am very excited to have you here today to talk about your new book Beneath the Starry Sky.
Jessica: Thank you so much! It’s a pleasure to be here.
Q1) Tell us a little about yourself.
Jessica: I’m an author, and also a mother and wife. Most of my stories I write are science fiction romance, but Beneath the Starry Sky is a contemporary romance. I enjoy reading as well, most subgenres of romance, thrillers, and more.
Q2) Describe Beneath the Starry Sky in 140 characters or less.
Jessica: For both Tamara and Josh, letting go is the first step to love…with a little help from Madame Eve.
Q3) How did you come up with the idea for this story?
Jessica: The heroine, Tamara is the best friend of Carrie from Celestial Seduction. After CS was published, I had to write Tamara’s story. She wouldn’t leave me alone until I did. J
Q4) What did you find most challenging about writing this story?
Jessica: I always find it hard to evoke the same emotions to the readers that I feel with my characters, but with my editor, I think I managed to do so.
Q5) Have you always wanted to be an author?
Jessica: No, not always, but looking back, I should have seen this career path all along. I’ve been writing lesson plans when playing school, newsletters for my youth group and the pet supply store I used to work at for years. I even wrote my first romance story in grade seven. Just over three years ago, I sat down to pen a story for my daughter, and I haven’t stopped.
Q6) What do you do when you are not writing?
Jessica: Spending time with my family and reading, mostly.
Q7) Favorite book and why?
Jessica: Oh, I hate choosing just one, and my answer changes every month. LOL The most recent novel I added to my “favorite reads of 2011” was The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I’ve owned the trilogy for some time, but with the urging of a friend, finally read it. Plus, I like to read books before their movies come out. I loved this book as it is non-stop action from the very beginning, filled with intense emotions (which I love), and unforgettable characters.
Q8) Favorite inspirational quote and why?
Jessica:  Remain orderly in your life so you can remain free and chaotic in your work – Thom Yorke This is what I strive for everyday.
Q9) What is your current work in progress?
Jessica: I’m working on book two in my Mark of the Stars series. Plus, I have a couple other shorter things on the go.
Q10) Anything else you would like to share with us?
Jessica: I love to hear from my readers! You can find me on twitter @jsubject, facebook, Google +, and Goodreads.
Thanks again for having me today!
Books-n-Kisses: Jessica, Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down with me and share your story.  I look forward to reading more of your books in the future.
GIVEAWAY TIME:
Jessica E. Subject will be giving away $20 in All Romance Ebook Bucks (which can be used at All Romance Ebooks and OmniLit) as well as three ebook copies of Beneath the Starry Sky. Simply leave a comment (with your email address) on any of the posts during the tour for your chance to WIN! Paranormal private eye. Grim reaper extraordinaire. Whatever. Charley Davidson is back! And she’s drinking copious amounts of caffeine to stay awake because, every time she closes her eyes, she sees him: Reyes Farrow, the part human, part-supermodel son of Satan. Yes, she did imprison him for all eternity, but come on. How is she supposed to solve a missing persons case, deal with an ego-driven doctor, calm her curmudgeonly dad, and take on a motorcycle gang hell bent on murder when the devil’s son just won’t give up?
My Thoughts:
Oh Me, Oh My, Charley & Reyes WHY? WHY? WHY?
Darynda sucked me back into to the world of Charley Davidson.  In this third installment of Charley’s series, we find Charley try to solve yet another missing person case.  But not everything is as it seems.  Charley meets some new friends and says good bye to some old.
I am not sure anything will be the same in Charley’s world after Third Grave Dead Ahead.
For those of you that want to know.  YES!!!! There will be more books in the Grave series.  Darynda told me that she has signed on for book 4 (Fall 2012) & 5.  And THANK GOODNESS because by the time I was done with Third Grave I was screaming “NO!!!! NO!!!! NO!!!!!! Damn you Darynda for doing this to me!!!”
For those who loved First Grave & Second Grave, Third Grave gives you all the humor, sexual tension, emotional highs and lows you got in the first two books along with some surprisingly new developments and will leave you crying for MORE!!!!!

Review of Darker After Midnight by Lara Adrian

Darker After Midnight
by Lara Adrian
Hardcover: 384 pages
Publisher: Delacorte Press (January 24, 2012)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 034553087X
ISBN-13: 978-0345530875
In the dark of night, a blood war escalates within the hidden world of the Breed. After existing in secret for many long centuries, maintaining a fragile peace with the humans who walk beside them unaware, a single act of retaliation has put the entire vampire nation at risk of discovery. It falls to the Order–a cadre of Breed warriors pledged to protect their own and humankind alike–to stop Dragos, the power-mad vampire at the center of the conflict, before his push for domination can explode into catastrophe.
At the center of the Order’s quest is Sterling Chase, once a morally rigid enforcer of Breed law, now a warrior fallen from grace, whose biggest battle is the one he wages against his own savage nature. With addiction beckoning him toward eternal darkness, Chase’s path to redemption has never seemed more out of reach–until he finds himself drawn to a beautiful young woman who may be something much more than she seems . . .
My Thoughts:
I can’t even tell you how much I enjoyed this book.  Well I could, but I am going to keep this review spoiler free.  So here are my spoiler free thoughts.
There is so much happening in this book.  The Order and the Midnight Breed world as we know it will never be the same again.  In Darker After Midnight we do get to see all of our favorite Breed Warriors again.  We get to see how things are going for them and there are some huge surprises too!!
I will say that Chase does have an uphill battle in this book.  He and only he can change this path of destruction he is on.  If you have read through to Hunter’s book you will know what I am talking about.
We met Tavia very briefly at the end of Deeper Than Midnight (Hunter’s book, book 9 in the series) .  From the moment Chase sees Tavia there is something very different about her. Tavia may just be the one person that can help Chase realize just how important he really is to everyone.  But that is if Chase can stop long enough to see what is in front of him.
As I said before the world of the Midnight Breeds will never be the same after this book.  I am so excited to see what Lara has in store for us next.  There where so many twists and turns in Darker After Midnight and I personally loved every one of them.  Chases’ book is my new favorite of the series.
Oh and the next book in the series is going to knock your socks off… and of course you know I will not tell you who’s book is next.  But I am SO EXCITED for it!!!!!!
I have to say HUGE Thank you to Lara for the opportunity to read Darker After Midnight early and review for her.

After an irresistible night of passion with Reya, Aaron James longs to hold her close forever. Little does he know that the tall, sleek beauty has a carnal secret — and he’s the one who needs protection.
Reya Daines has dedicated her life to the conservation of jaguars. With the only bed-and-breakfast at the entrance to Cockscomb Jaguar Sanctuary, she can keep an eye on poachers and still indulge her guests in her first love-scuba diving. But something has invaded the preserve and the big cats are restless…and that something wants Reya.
Aaron James can take care of himself, but he finds he’s not quite up to the job after his plane goes down in the jungles of Belize. The woman who rescues him is a loner just like him. When he learns she’s in danger from the same menace she’s saved him from twice, what’s a determined man to do with an equally stubborn woman?
Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, graphic language, and violence.

TJ Michaels Bio
Born into a musically eclectic family, TJ’s first love is music. She enjoys singing, even outside of the shower. So, where does this writing stuff come in? It actually began with reading. TJ is an avid reader and you’ll find her with her head buried in a book every day of the week, whether it’s her own creation or something snagged at the bookstore.
What about ideas? Working for an interesting organization allows her to interact with even more interesting customers. With an imagination expanded beyond belief after the birth of her two (now teenaged) children, spinning life’s experiences into tales is a blast! And now that books have caught up to technology, TJ’s eBook reader is shown no mercy, forced to entertain her at all hours of the day or night. Even in the dark!
Writing like a madman, er, madwoman, TJ hasn’t lost steam. Her mind? Yep, that’s gone, but steam there is aplenty. A true Taurus, TJ isn’t slowing down and she’s definitely too stubborn to stop when she sees the fence!

“Well, our little patient was lucky tonight,” Dr. Matons drawled around his pipe.
Little patient?” Reya queried with amusement. She was sure she’d never met a man so long his feet practically hung off the edge of her bed, or a more muscularly perfect specimen as the one lying in her bedroom. She and Dr. Matons had spent the past several hours removing glass and plastic from various patches of skin. They’d stitched the deeper cuts across his back, wrapped his chest tightly and cleaned off all the blood. She’d seen every inch of his magnificent body and there was nothing, and she meant nothing, little about him.
“It’s a good thing you were out on patrol when his plane went down. I don’t know if he would have made it otherwise,” the doctor said, blowing out a ring of thick smoke. “He is certainly handsome, as men go.” His eyes crinkled at the sides as he watched her. The old matchmaker. Always looking for someone to pair her up with. Even an unconscious man in serious condition.
When she didn’t answer but stared out into the night, he continued. “I gave him a strong painkiller, but he’s not out of the woods. Do you mind if I sleep here so I can check on him during the night?”
“No, I don’t mind at all. Why don’t you take the office? The futon in there is pretty comfy. I’ll take the couch.” Her eyes hadn’t strayed from the tangle of ferns and vines leading into the dark canopy of jungle no more than a hundred yards from her back stairs.
“You’re not planning on going back out in this deluge, are you?”
“The storm is almost past. I’ll be fine. Besides, something weird happened out there tonight. If you’re still awake when I get back, I’ll tell you about it.”
The moon, pale and obscured by dark thunderheads, was the only light shining onto her second-story veranda. Reya unlaced her boots, toed them off and set them beside the screen door that led down the back stairs. Dr. Matons continued to puff on his pipe while she peeled off her tank top and blood-spattered pants, tossed them in a pile and loosely tied a small bundle around her neck.
“Be careful, my dear. Wake me when you return,” Dr. Matons called quietly. Extinguishing his pipe, he rose and slipped through the sliding glass door and into her living room.
Reya watched his retreating back until the subtle snap of the office door told her she was alone. Shirt, pants and shoes in a neat pile on the floor, she dropped to her knees. Muscles rippled and bunched as raw power surged through her limbs—heady, thunderous power as her body shortened then stretched. Her tall frame shuddered as thick fur burst through her pores, replacing smooth skin. The cooling breeze ruffled the sleek fur on the tufts of the ears of a black jaguar as she stalked down the stairs and loped into the surrounding jungle.

Interview with Rebecca Royce

Hi Rebecca, Welcome back to Books-n-Kisses.  Thank you for making Books-n-Kisses a stop on your tour again. Thank you for taking time to sit down and talk about Embraced
Rebecca: Thank you so much for having me. I am so thrilled to be here today!
Q1) Tell us about Embraced
Rebecca: Embraced is the second book in my Conditioned story.  It picks up about a year after Eye Contact ended.  Here is a blurb:
Benedicte Lavelle is a single father raising two small daughters. When his neighbors put him in charge of handling the haunting that plagues their neighborhood, he has no choice but to use disreputable means in order to bring in a Conditioned ghost hunter to help with their problem. He doesn’t expect to be drawn to the young woman who arrives at his house in chains. He doesn’t expect to have his entire life thrown into upheaval when she is snatched away.

Conditioned prisoner Seven-Two-Four has never had a name. She cannot read, and is scheduled to die as soon as she is returned to the Institution. The Conditioned are not considered human, but Seven can see ghost energy and she can love Ben like no one ever has before.

When fate takes Seven from Ben’s arms, can he move on and find a new purpose in life or will he be forever trapped by the need to rescue those like his lost love?

Q2) How did you come up with the idea for this story?
Rebecca: I’m not sure. I can never really answer this question. I’m not certain where my ideas come from. I’m just grateful they come.
Q3) Have you always wanted to be an author?
Rebecca: Since I was in fourth grade. I tried some other things but it’s really been what I’ve wanted for a long time.
Q4) What is your most interesting writing quirk?
Rebecca: Every one of my books starts out with 13 pages per chapter. This alters with editing but that’s how long each chapter is when I first write them.
Q5) Tell us 5 fun facts about yourself
Rebecca:  Well. I’m really boring but lets see what I can come up with.
 I love Broadway Shows.
I love red wine and cheese
I have three small boys who keep me running all the time
I’m terrible about checking my phone messages. I miss things. It’s really bad.
I love the nutcracker ballet.
Q6) What is your favorite part of writing?
Rebecca: That moment when the plot ‘clicks’ and suddenly I get it.
Q7) Worst piece of advice you ever received about becoming an author?
Rebecca:  People always know better than you do about your own writing. Or they think they do. Don’t listen. Write what you feel. A good story finds an audience.
Q8) If you had a super power what would it be and why?
Rebecca: I would love to be able to become invisible.
Q9) What is your current work in progress?
Rebecca: I am writing the next Young Adult book in my Warrior series.
Q10) Anything else you would like to add?
Rebecca:  I’m just so glad to have been here today and to have had a chance to tell you about my book!
Books-n-Kisses: Rebecca, again thank you so very much for stopping by Books-n-Kisses.  We always enjoy having you on the blog.

As a teenager, I would hide in my room to read my favorite romance novels when I was supposed to be doing my homework.  I hope, these days, that my parents think it was worth it.
I am the mother of three adorable boys and I am fortunate to be married to my best friend.  We live in northern New Jersey and try not to freeze too badly during the winter months.
I am in love with science fiction, fantasy, and the paranormal and try to use all of these elements in my writing.  I’ve been told I’m a little bloodthirsty so I hope that when you read my work you’ll enjoy the action packed ride that always ends in romance. I love to write series because I love to see characters develop over time and it always makes me happy to see my favorite characters make guest appearances in other books.
In my world anything is possible, anything can happen, and you should suspect that it will.
I’d love to hear from you!
Embraced Excerpt:
“Does it take this much out of you every time you do it?”
“No.” She raised a dainty hand to rub at her eyes. “I was already tired. I shouldn’t have attempted it. I wanted to give you the services you’re entitled to. I don’t want to fail at this job. Not right before my death.”
His stomach turned at the thought. She didn’t know how old she was, but in his mind she couldn’t be more than thirty, and maybe she was even younger.
“I don’t want you doing anything that might cause you pain. I’m responsible for your welfare.”
She nodded, her blue eyes sad as they looked at him. “Okay, sir.”
“Ben. Please call me Ben.”
“I can’t do that.”
He rubbed her hair out of her eyes. “You can. What can I get you? Water? Food?”
“I know it’s very early but I really need some sleep. I’d rather save my meal for tomorrow, if that’s okay?”
His heart broke every time she spoke about her expectations. “Seven, listen to me. While you’re here I’m going to feed you three meals a day. Maybe a snack too, if you want one. I’m in charge, right? You have to do what I tell you, and I’m informing you that despite what Madame says, you will eat a lot here.”
The smallest smile formed on her lips. “Really? I don’t want you to get into trouble.”
He helped her sit up, feeling sorry he had to let her go at all. She was a young woman—and he didn’t care who disagreed, she was, in fact a woman and not an it—and she was in his home. Ben was responsible for her well-being. God help anyone who told him how he was going to care for someone who lived within his walls. No one would abuse her here.
“I won’t get into trouble. I’m a lawyer. You can trust me to know what I can do within the law.” He stood up. “You’re welcome to go to bed. I’d also be glad to feed you.”
“Where should I sleep?” She looked down on the floor and he followed her gaze. Suddenly, he understood what she thought.
“Not on the floor. No way.” He extended his hand and was relieved when she took it. “We have beds in this house. You’ll use one.”
“Thank you.”
The simplicity of her gratefulness made him stop in his tracks. Who might this woman have been if she’d not been Conditioned?
