Jennifer’s Review of Hot Rock

Review (3.5 Stars): One of the things that I liked about this unique time travel story was its main character, Megan. She has come all the way to England to attend the Glastonbury music festival to fulfill a dream and finish her thesis about rock music. Even though her professional career is in turmoil due to the actions of previous boyfriend, she is determined to fight and enjoy what little time she has at the festival. I liked her strength and determination in this book and she wasn’t going to let anything get her down.

When she meets David, the next door neighbor, it is like a dream come true because he looks exactly like her rock idol from the seventies. The more time she spends with him, she can’t shake the feeling that everything isn’t what it seems and David sounds too much like her favorite singer. What Megan doesn’t know is that “David” is from the past and has found an interesting way to visit the future on the property where she is staying for the festival. I had a hard time connecting to Davy because he was a jerk to Megan for a good half of the book. He may have been a rock god but I just couldn’t see them as a great couple. I liked this well-written story even though I didn’t fall in love with Davy like Megan did and I’m interested in reading more stories from this author.

REVIEW:
4.75 Hearts Just when I think that Vaughn is my favorite Judd Lauren walks into my life. All tall, dark, cool and oh my goodness yummy!!!! I totally loved everything about Judd and Brenna’s story. These two are so beyond perfect together. I am so glad that Brenna never gave up on Judd. 🙂
This story had a lot of ups and downs that at times I wondered how Nalini was going to pull it all off. But being the amazing story teller that she is Nalini made everything perfect.
Again another amazing story from Nalini and another amazing reading by Angela! These two are an amazing pair. I am already on to the next audio book in this series and as long as Nalini keeps turn out amazing stories and Angela narrates them I will keep going on audio in this series.

3.5 Hearts This is the first in a four part “series” by different authors. The series is really about the little doggy matchmaker. It is a short story of only 60 or so pages. It is sweet and simple. Old love rekindled. Good little story to read between novels.

“I don’t feel right leaving you here alone.” His voice had
an edge to it.

I paused, trying to think of the right words. “I’m not
your problem.”

He smiled, his brows going up. “You’re nobody’s problem.”

“My parents would argue with that, but that’s not what I
meant and you know—”

He stood up suddenly. “You’re not my problem.”
He crossed to me. “But…Allie, I want you to be.”

I really like the
sound of that. Which hurt. I’m the
last thing you need.

As hard as it was to
breathe, I managed to argue. “No, you really don’t.” I sidestepped him, needing
distance to keep fighting. “I’m one of those damaged goods on the quick-sale
table at the grocery store. Pretty packaging makes you curious, interested, but
then you get it home and open it up and realize you wasted your time and money
on trash.” I walked out of the kitchen as I spoke. More distance.

His hand caught my arm. “Jesus, Allie, that’s harsh.”

I very carefully pulled my arm out of his hold. “Sometimes the truth is.
My best friend taught me that.”

Sasha is part gypsy. Her passions have always been storytelling, Hollywood, history, and travel. It’s no surprise that her books include a little of each. Her first play, ‘Greek Gods and Goddesses’ was written for her Girl Scout troupe. She’s been writing ever since. 4.75 Hearts

Loved this book!! Love Vaughn!! Loved Faith!! Just plain loved! I have yet to pick up a Nalini Singh story and not totally be in love. Nalini is such an amazing storyteller and Angela Dawe brings the characters to life. This girl has a knack for voices!! It is amazing. And as always I love when I feel like I am in the story not just being read to. Angela does that. I never feel that she is just reading the works. I feel like I am right there with the characters.

If you are thinking about a book to read or listen too I would HIGHLY suggest picking up a copy of Vision of Heat, but if you have not read book 1 Slave to Sensation I would start there

REVIEW:
2.5 Hearts This story was just ok for me. First it was so odd that it was set over the couple fighting for a funeral home. I mean it actually seemed at times like they were happy someone died so they got the business. Just weird.

I don’t really think the couple had much chemistry either. Something was just off about this book and the characters. The writing was good and the background characters were good but the main couple just didn’t seem to mesh. I liked some of the storyline and had a couple of good chuckles at some of the lines but most seemed like forced humor.

“Maybe you
shouldn’t kiss strangers…” His words came out as a growl. “That’s a real bad
habit, princess.”

REVIEW:
This was my second read/listen to this book. But I decided that I really wanted to tackle Nalini’s Psy-Changeling series. This first book was really good. Lots of world building, history and foundation that needs to be laid for us to understand this world. But the story between Lucas & Sascha really heats up the pages. Anyone that can have those types of dreams is okay in my book 🙂
I really loved Lucas’ character. As Alpha of his pack he has to be strong. But Lucas was strong even before he was alpha. Although he was a little broken too. I hope that we get to see glimpses of these two in future books.
I loved Sascha, even if at times I wanted to shake the Psy out of her. But if she was not Psy and struggling with her emotions the story would not be as good.

The narrator Angela Dawe did a really good job with the reading of this book. This was my first book I have listened to narrated by Angela. My only complaint was that the splicing between chapters was way too fast. But I do plan on listening to the second book in this series on audible too.
