Audio Book Lovin’ Presents: Kelly’s interview with Molly Harper & Amanda Ronconi + a giveaway

Audio Book Lovin BannerViviana, from Enchantress of Books and I am Soooo excited to have Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi on our Audio Book Lovin’ Series. 10995278_932587120114581_4172926344250320788_n

Can I just start by saying how much I love love love these two.  Love them!!!! I had the great pleasure of meeting Molly at RT in Dallas this past May.  Molly may regret it, but I had a bit of a fan girl moment and might have gone into stalker mod for a bit…. But that is another story for another time..  But here is my proof that I did indeed met Molly—>>>>

But enough about me.  Let me introduce you to the ladies.

When Molly Harper was eight years old, she set up a “writing office” in her parents’ living room, complete with an old manual typewriter and a toy phone. And she (very slowly) pecked out the story of her third-grade class taking a trip around the world and losing a kid in each city. She had a dark sense of humor even then.

When Molly was considerably older, she headed for Western Kentucky University, where she majored in print journalism. After graduation, she landed a job with The Paducah Sun and married her high school sweetheart, David, a local police officer. After six years at the newspaper, Molly took a more family-friendly secretarial position at a local church office.

Her husband worked nights and Molly was alone with their small child in the “The Apartment of Lost Souls.” A big fan of vampire movies and TV shows, she decided to write a vampire romance novel. Molly created Jane Jameson, a bit of an accidental loser. Jane is single, almost 30, and a librarian working in Half-Moon Hollow, Ky. She has become a permanent fixture on her Mama’s prayer list. And despite the fact that she’s pretty good at her job, she just got canned so her boss could replace her with someone who occasionally starts workplace fires. Jane drowns her sorrows at the local faux nostalgia-themed sports bar. On her way home, she’s mistaken for a deer and shot by a drunk hunter. And then she wakes up as a vampire. The three-book Jane Jameson series–which includes Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs,Nice Girls Don’t Date Dead Men and Nice Girls Don’t Live Forever—was released in 2009.  A fourth and final installment, Nice Girls Don’t Bite Their Neighbors, was released in 2012.

Molly continues stories in the Jane Jameson universe through her Half-Moon Hollow series,Driving Mr. Dead, The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires, Undead Sublet, and The Dangers of Dating a Rebound Vampire. The next title, The Single Undead Mom’s Club will be released in October 2015. Molly updated her popular Naked Werewolf romance series in 2013. How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf, was released in February 2011, quickly followed by The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf. A third installment, How to Run With a Naked Werewolf, was released in December 2013. Her first-ever “haunted house story,” Better Homes and Hauntings, was released in June 2014.

Molly’s books are published by Pocket Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. They are available in print, as e-books and audio books at major book stores and on Amazon. Molly is a native of Kentucky. She lives in Paducah with her husband and children.

Kelly: So now that we know a little about the ladies let’s get to the business at hand.

Kelly: Molly, how did the author/narrator relationship begin?

Molly: I was super excited about the prospect of audio books when NICE GIRLS DON’T HAVE FANGS came out. I only received one audio sample to audition voice actresses, but Amanda was so good, I was totally comfortable with her. But I believe she’d done all four NICE GIRLS books before I asked for her email so we could do a Q&A for my blog. I felt really intrusive doing that, for some reason. But once that communication was established, we felt pretty comfortable contacting each other. Amanda really gets my voice and my humor, so it stands to reason that we would get along well “in real life.”

Of course, now that I know her, I do feel a little guilty, picturing her in a recording booth, reading the sex scenes aloud to some hapless engineer. The words I put in her mouth are somewhat filthy. And yet, I do it anyway. So clearly, I have no conscience.

Let’s listen to a sample from NICE GIRLS DON’T HAVE FANGS.

Kelly: Molly, what sort of information do you provide Amanda with prior to her starting the narrating process of a your book(s)?

Molly: Accents are important. We talk about region or country and how pronounced the accent might be. (OH MY GOD, Amanda can do an amazing Russian accent. I am tempted to include a hot Russian guy in every book from now on, just for the listeners’ benefit.) And we talk about certain words or colloquialisms and their pronunciations. Last names and town names can be a little tricky in the south, so she’s always good about double-checking those.

Kelly: Amanda, how do you go about selecting how each of the character are going to sound like?

Amanda:  Well I guess I don’t have to worry about that anymore because all characters will now be done with a Russian accent.  No, really, I entirely take my cue from what Molly has written.  Her characters are very specific.  I remember when I got the first Nice Girls script, it was so clear to me what Jane Jamison’s voice should sound like because Molly had written it so distinctly.  I worked for a while to make sure I was capturing her comedic tone.  I was super excited to narrate it.

Kelly:  Amanda, along the lines of the previous question, how do you manage or what is your process of remember what the character from a previous book sounds like when they reappear in a new book?

Amanda:  If it’s been a long time since I’ve done a character I might go back and listen to snippets of the audiobook I last did with them in it.  In general, I try to have a specific person associated with each character (the character, Zeb Lavelle, I decided talks like my brother) that way it’s easy to remember.

Kelly: Amanda, tell us about the narrating process (i.e. do you read the book before narrating it? How long are the recording sessions per day? How long does it take for you to narrator a book?  If you make a mistake while recording, what happens?)

Amanda:  I find reading the book two to three times (one of those times out loud) before recording works best.  Mainly because I need to know what the book IS that I’ll be narrating, who the characters are, where the story is going to go so I can lead the listener through it.  On the most basic level, If I didn’t read a book before I narrated it I would have no idea what parts to take my time with, what parts should be faster, slower, etc.  It would also take much longer to record if I didn’t have any familiarity with the script before I sat down in front of the microphone because I would mess up way more.  Because of the wonders of digital recording messing up is no big deal, you just stop and put the cursor back to before the mistake and hit record.  But you want the recording process to be as effortless as possible.  Some days, despite being prepared, you mess up more than others and the stopping and starting can get frustrating.  You just have to stay very Zen and not let the choppiness bother you.  Other days can be so smooth and you really feel like the words are coming straight from your own brain, not just the author’s, and into the microphone.  Those recording days are my favorite, obviously.

I usually have a six-hour recording day.  Sometimes a little longer.  I take breaks for sure.  Usually by the end of the day I feel pretty brain-dead.  I try not to operate heavy machinery after a full recording day.

Kelly: Amanda, authors have writer’s cave, do narrators have something similar?

Amanda: Well the recording studio is actually quite a bit like a cave, a soundproof cave.  Removed from the world. Just a script with a light focused on it and a microphone hanging in front of you.  You even don’t know what the weather is outside.

Kelly: Here’s a fun question for Amanda name that both Viviana and I have been wondering… as a narrator, do you get “oh say it in ‘the voice’” question often?

Amanda: Ha!  No, not one person has ever asked me that.

Kelly: Molly, once the audiobook has been recorded, do you then listen to it or have final approval or is it automatically done when it’s done recording?

Molly: I don’t hear it until it’s available to the public, but again, Amanda’s so good, that I have total faith in her handling of the narration. I know my work is in good hands.

Kelly: Molly, what do you love about having your books in audiobook format?

It’s a great experience for me, as an author, because I get to the experience the book all over again in a new way. When you write and rewrite and go through multiple edits, you lose a sense of the story. Hearing it aloud gives me a whole new perspective.

Kelly: Amanda, of all of Molly’s books, which one has been your favorite to narrate and why?

Amanda:  Wow!  That is a really tough question.  I have absolutely enjoyed them all.  Molly’s dialogue very much captures the nature of conversation, which makes it so fun to deliver.  The main characters don’t take themselves too seriously, sure they have big problems, but they have a sense of humor about themselves, which I appreciate.  Even the sex scenes and filthy words she makes me say often have a moment or two of humor which makes it less embarrassing if I am recording across from a hapless engineer in a night session at Audible.

Kelly:  Ladies, if someone has not listened to any audio book before what would you tell them?

Molly: Do not listen to my books on a treadmill, I’ve been told that is dangerous.

Amanda: But if you do, get the gym membership with the insurance policy.

How about a few more samples of Molly and Amanda’s work.  Enjoy!!!

Natasha reviews Born Of Defiance by Sherrilyn Kenyon

born of defianceTITLE: Born of Defiance
SERIES #: The League #9
CHARACTERS: Talyn & Felicia
AUTHOR: Sherrilyn Kenyon
PUBLICATION DATE: May 12, 2015
ORDER LINKS:Amazon| BN

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Born an Outcast, Talyn Batur has spent the whole of his life fighting against the prejudice of his people. An Andarion without a father is not something anyone wants to be.

But when his companion’s brother draws him into a plot against the Andarion crown, he finds himself torn between the loyalty to their planetary government that his mother has beaten into him and his own beliefs of justice and right.

Now, he must decide for himself to remain a pawn of their government or to defy everything and everyone he’s ever known to stand up to tyranny. It’s a gamble that will either save his life or end it. And when old enemies align with new ones, it’s more than just his own life at risk. And more than just his homeworld that will end should he fail.

REVIEW:
4.5 Hearts I have been a fan of the League series forever! I love science fiction, and I love the incredibly gripping universe that Kenyon has created. However, that said, this series is starting to become a struggle for me. The cast of characters is becoming so large it’s extremely difficult to remember anyone, let alone what all has happened in the universe. To make it even more difficult – the books jump around to different points in time in the story, which makes it even more difficult to keep everyone straight. I love this series, I just wished it was a little more linear to make it easier to follow. As with all of Kenyon’s books, this poor hero is extremely tortured. Talyn has some of the worst luck of any character I’ve ever read. Thank goodness Felicia shows up. The two of them together are great and the story really worked well with the two of them as main characters. I loved it.

I purchased a copy of this book. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.

Emma is an avid reader. Before her children were born she was known to consume whole books in a single day. Writing has also always been a passion and with the 2013 release of her debut romantic comedy, Tangled, the ability to now call herself an author is nothing less than a dream come true.

*****
Now that we have learned a little about Emma.  I am turning the blog over to her to talk about why Audiobooks are so awesome.

Audiobooks are a wonderful thing – but of course you’re here, checking out the Audio Book Lovin’ Series so I’m not really telling you anything you don’t already know. What you don’t know is why I think they’re wonderful, so here we go:

The very first audiobook I listened to was The Lord of the Rings – Fellowship of the Ring. I picked a nice long one, because I had a one hour commute – each way – to work in my car, and if I had to listen to one more morning radio DJ pull a phone scam, I was going to drive my car straight into a freaking telephone poll (not literally, but you get the point).

So, I started listening to The Lord of the Rings…and something amazing happened. I began hoping for traffic. Closed lanes, toll congestion, rubbernecking delays – I wanted it all. I started leaving early for work, not so I could actually go in to work early, but so I could sit in the parking lot and listen a little bit longer. I even started spending my lunch breaks in my car – listening – because I had to know what happened next, had to hear how it all ended. I was thoroughly, fantastically addicted.

I loved how the characters came alive on the audiobook – I could actually hear their voices which made them all the more real. I loved that I could multitask while listening – drive, eat, cook dinner, clean, run on the treadmill. Most of all I loved the captivating performance of the narrator – I didn’t miss a word and caught details I probably would’ve missed had I been reading.

Now, when it comes to listening to my own audiobooks, like The Tangled Series and Overruled and my upcoming release, Sustained: yes, this author listens. I’ve been blessed to work with talented narrators with sexy, fabulous voices and outstanding comedic timing.

And the love scenes – whew – they sound SO MUCH dirtier outside my head (and my scenes are pretty damn dirty inside my head, so that’s saying something)! Most of the time, as I listen, I’m red like a tomato and thinking – did I really write that??

My appreciation for audiobooks has only grown since my Lord of the Rings days. It’s a joy to listen to my favorite books and a thrilling honor to hear my own stories. It’s a whole different literary experience – and like I said – a wonderful, wonderful thing.

Let’s take a listen to a couple clips from Emma’s books.

Here is a clip from Emma Chase’s Tangled series book one Tangled

Kelly reviews Shard Of Hope by Nalini Singh

shards of hopeTITLE: Shards of Hope
SERIES #: PSy-Changeling #14
CHARACTERS: Aden Kai & Zaira Neve
AUTHOR: Nalini Singh
PUBLICATION DATE: June 2, 2015
ORDER LINKS:Amazon | B&N | Audible

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
The “smoldering heat, epic romance, and awesome action” of Nalini Singh’s New York Times bestselling series continues as two Arrows find themselves caught in a chilling conspiracy that spans all three races…

Awakening wounded in a darkened cell, their psychic abilities blocked, Aden and Zaira know they must escape. But when the lethal soldiers break free from their mysterious prison, they find themselves in a harsh, inhospitable landscape far from civilization. Their only hope for survival is to make it to the hidden home of a predatory changeling pack that doesn’t welcome outsiders.

And they must survive. A shadowy enemy has put a target on the back of the Arrow squad, an enemy that cannot be permitted to succeed in its deadly campaign. Aden will cross any line to keep his people safe for this new future, where even an assassin might have hope of a life beyond blood and death and pain. Zaira has no such hope. She knows she’s too damaged to return from the abyss. Her driving goal is to protect Aden, protect the only person who has ever come back for her no matter what.

This time, even Aden’s passionate determination may not be enough—because the emotionless chill of Silence existed for a reason. For the violent, and the insane, and the irreparably broken…like Zaira.

REVIEW:
As the world tries to right itself after the fall of Silence, Aden Kai is trying to keep the Arrows safe in this strange new world of emotion.

Zaira Neve may be small but she is lethal. And Aden is the only one who can keep Zaira from falling farther into the darkness.

Shards of Hope begins 4 months after the fall of Silence and a few months after the end of Vasic’s book (Shield of Winter).

I really really loved this story. Not just because I am an uber fan of all things Nalini Singh, but because we get to see more about the Arrows. The Arrows have forever been portrayed as the bogeymen of the Psy-net. Over the last two books we have come to see that the Arrow care deeply about their squad mates and the people around them. Even if they didn’t know or acknowledge that they cared, they did (well most of them). It was a lot of fun to watch Aden learn to think like an Alpha. I loved that he works so well with the other races.
I don’t think there are many people in the Psy-Changeling world that don’t like Aden. After the events in Shards of Hope I would say that there are even more people that like him. I loved learning about Aden. While his parents were not great (okay they sucked) Aden grow up knowing the importance of his position in the squad. But I think only Vasic, Zaira and the rest of the Arrows knew how important he was from very early on.
Aden is a force unto himself. I was so happy to see what he can do. And Zaira! Oh man is Zaira a ball of fiery, wrapped in dynamite, with a lite fuse. You never want to be on her bad side. To say when Zaira snaps you should hit the deck would be an understatement. But watching her with Aden, JoJo, Pip and even Vasic we come to see just who Zaira really is.

I honestly can’t find fault in this book at all. I loved every minute of listening and every page of reading. I can not wait to see what is in store for the new Psy-Changeling world.

Audio Book Lovin’ Presents: Kelly’s interview with Yasmine Galenorn + a giveaway

Audio Book Lovin BannerViviana, from Enchantress of Books and I am so excited to have Ms. Yasmine Galenorn on our Audio Book Lovin’ Series.

Yasmine GNew York Times, Publishers Weekly, and USA Today bestselling author Yasmine Galenorn writes paranormal romance and urban fantasy for Berkley: the Otherworld Series, and the upcoming Fly By Night Series and Whisper Hollow Series.  She’s also known for her Indigo Court Series, her paranormal mysteries, and her nonfiction metaphysical books. She is the 2011 Career Achievement Award Winner in Urban Fantasy, given by RT Magazine. She lives in Kirkland WA with her husband Samwise and their cats.  Learn more about Ms. Galenorn and her books here:  WebsiteFacebookFacebook Discussion GroupTwitterGoodreads

Kelly: Ms. Galenorn, what do you love/like about audio books?

A: My favorite thing about audiobooks is that it offers my readers who are sight impaired the chance to read my books. I wish every book I had could be in audio, but I don’t have any control over that in anything published by a traditional publisher.

Kelly: Can you tell us what involvement do you have in getting your novels turned into audiobooks?

A: I’m sorry to say, but none. Not with a traditional publisher. Unless I was able to withhold audio rights—and that’s very hard to do in some situations—I have no say about it, other than to say YES when I’m notified an audio publisher wants to license the rights from my publisher.

Kelly: How is your narrator selected for your novels?

A: Again, I have no clue. J That’s up to the audiobook publisher. But I do know that Cassandra Campbell, who has been the narrator for all of my audio books, has done a wonderful job.

Kelly : What information/guidance do you provide to the narrator?

A: We actually talk now and then about how to pronounce certain names/words. That started when I realized that some of the names weren’t quite spot-on. But now, every time she has a question, she comes to me and I am happy to help her.

Kelly: Do you listen to your audiobooks after they are finished?  Why or why not.

A: No, though I have heard excerpts. I simply don’t have the time to sit and listen to them, and I tend to turn whatever I’m listening to into white noise when I’m busy working. But my husband started reading a lot more again once he discovered audio books, because it’s just easier for him to do while he’s busy with other things.

Kelly: If you have one book in your backlist that is not already on audio, which novel would you want to be turned into an audio book.

A: That’s easy! Night Vision and Night’s End. I really felt bad that the last two Indigo Court books weren’t picked up by the audio publisher, but there wasn’t anything I could do. And I cannot get audio rights back on those book at this point to try to find a producer/publisher on my own.

Kelly: If you could pick one person (male or female) to narrator your life who would it be and why?

A: Interesting question! Hmmm…I’ve thought about this one and…well, if it were a woman narrating my life, I’d say Pepi Gilpin (she played Roz Doyle, on Frasier). I love her voice—it’s throaty and sultry. If it were a man…either Gary Numan (my favorite singer) because I love his voice. And David Bowie would be the other choice—I could listen to him all day long. I find it interesting they both have an accent. *grins*

Kelly: For anyone who has not listened to an audiobook before.  What would you tell them to try to convince them to listen?

A: If there’s any reason why you have trouble holding a book, or reading, or if you are looking for a way to relax before going to sleep—an audio book might be just for you.

Let’s take a listen to a clip from Ms. Galenorn’s Witchling, book one of the Otherworld/Sisters of the Moon series

Books-n-Kisses is pleased to welcome one of the nicest people on the planet Ms. Donna Grant.  I had the amazing opportunity to meet Donna at RT this year.  And of course we talked Dragons.  Because how can you meet Donna and not talk about her Smexy as hell Dragon Kings.

But for those of you who don’t know Donna yet, please let me introduce you to the one and only Ms. Donna Grant.

donna_grant_newDonna Grant is the New York Timesand USA Today bestselling author of the sizzling Dark King series featuring dragons, immortal Highlanders, and the Fae.

She was born and raised in Texas but loves to travel. Her adventures have taken her throughout the United States as well as to Jamaica, Mexico, and Scotland. Growing up on the Texas/Louisiana border, Donna’s Cajun side of the family taught her the “spicy” side of life while her Texas roots gave her two-steppin’ and bareback riding.

Despite deadlines and voracious reading, Donna still manages to keep up with her two children, four cats, and one long haired Chihuahua.

So now let’s get to the good stuff….Welcome Donna, Thank you so much for stopping by Books-n-Kisses to talk a little about your upcoming release Soul Scorched.

Donna: My pleasure! I love being here.

BnK: Can you tell us who Rhi ends up with?

Donna: lol No, I’m afraid not. That is one spoiler I won’t leak.

BnK: Fine…. Let’s talk about Soul Scorched then. Tell me a little about Warrick

Donna: There have been Dragon Kings who hated humans, so I wanted one who found them interesting. Warrick can’t get enough about humans. He follows all the gossip regarding actors, and he follows Rhi’s Facebook page.

His affinity for all things human he’s tried – unsuccessfully – to hide from the other Dragon Kings because he knows how many of them despise the mortals.

Warrick also has a hard time being around others. He finds it difficult to get his thoughts into words. As a result, it’s known that he always works alone. Until now.

BnK: Tell us a little about Darcy, Warrick’s love interest.

Donna: I knew it was only a matter of time before another Druid entered the picture. When it happened, I knew it was going to have to be something big. So in walks Darcy. She’s intelligent, savvy, and very powerful. She’s making her own way in the world away from the Isle of Skye and the elders who want her to return.

She’s happy and content even though by helping Ulrik and touching dragon magic she now knows about the Dragon Kings. She figures that’s all that is going to happen until Warrick arrives one night and saves her from the Dark Fae.

BnK: Who is Rhi’s Dragon King?

Donna: lol. Nice try!

BnK: Hey I had to try…..

Donna: I completely understand. 😉

BnK: Okay back to Warrick. What would you say was the hardest part about writing Warrick’s story?

Donna: Having a heroine who can do magic. Lol.

BnK: I don’t want to spoil anything before the public gets to read Soul Scorched, but how many more Dragon Kings will be waking up.

Donna: All of them!

BnK:  Do you think that there is hope for Balladyn?

Donna: I think it could go either way for Balladyn. I think a lot depends on Rhi.

BnK: Everyone is really worried about Rhi and the rest of her journey. You had told me that I needed to buckle up and hang on. Can you give us a morsel of the future for Rhi and the Dragon Kings?

Donna: Rhi will do things others don’t expect. She’ll follow her own wants for a bit, and there will be fallout from that.

BnK: I love getting a glimpse into your books. So Donna, can you open Soul Scorched to a random page and read a few lines to us.

Donna:

Darcy rolled her eyes and once more took her seat. “He didn’t tell me much. He gave me details of the Dragon Kings because I wished to know.”

Con’s condemning look was fierce. “You sided with him.”

“There are two sides to every story. Warrick told me his. Ulrik shouldn’t have attacked the humans, but what did you expect him to do? He was angry at them, and at his friends. He didn’t want to hurt any of you, so he did the only thing he could do.”

BnK: And one more time…. Rhi’s King????

Donna: Love ya, girl, but I’m not telling.

BnK: I knew you would not answer. I think we all have an idea of who we think it is. But I have come to figure out that authors are sneaky evil creatures and will keep us guessing until the end.   Donna, thank you so very much for being on the blog today.   I wish you tons of luck with Soul Scorched and I am already dying!! DYING I tell you for Thorn’s book.

Let’s take a look at Warrick’s book

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
When his wife was murdered two years ago, Special Agent Levi Lazaro turned his back on everything he cared about. Ever since, he has thought of nothing but vengeance. Now he’s finally uncovered the identities of those who killed his wife—and he’s ready to destroy them at any cost. Special Agent Selene Wolfe prides herself on being the best. Her fearlessness and quick-thinking make her the perfect person to take down a deadly terrorist cell. But she needs Levi’s help, and the moment he shows up, Selene knows her objectivity—and her heart—are in trouble.

As the two strike an uneasy alliance, Levi finds himself tormented by his desire for Selene—a feeling he thought long dead. But when their mission takes an unexpected turn, he finds himself faced with an impossible choice: either put aside his need for revenge, or save the woman who’s reawakened his soul

REVIEW:
After the death of Levi’s wife this life spiraled down into a deep dark hole of despair. His only thought for the past two years was for revenge. Revenge at any cost, even his life.

As always Ms. Reus writes a story that keeps the pages turning and leaves you wanting to know what will happen next. I really enjoyed Levi & Selene’s story. They worked well together, even with the emotional baggage the Levi is carrying. I can say I was not expecting the ending. I had to reach for the tissues.

I can’t wait for the next book in the Deadly Ops series.

Audio Book Lovin’ Presents: Our video interview with Luke Daniels

Audio Book Lovin BannerViviana, from Enchantress of Books and I am so excited to have Luke Daniels on our Audio Book Lovin’ Series.  I fell in love with Luke while listening to Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid Chronicles.   He does an amazing job of telling a story to his listeners.    I have to tell you that I had a little bit of a fan girl moment when Luke agreed to do an video interview.  EEEEKkkk.

Please let me introduce you to Luke:

10271204_475811939229571_8260284276691451939_oLuke Daniels was born into a family of actors. Both his father and mother have been performing and teaching for almost five decades. It is because of their influence that, from a very young age, Luke and his two brothers often found themselves in rehearsal halls at repertory theatres all over the country; watching innumerable productions of Much Ado, Julius Caesar, and Midsummer’s.

Luke’s first theatrical role came at the age of 5 as Fleance in a production of Macbeth. He immediately loved the creativity and camaraderie of the theatre. (It also didn’t hurt that he was allowed to miss school for certain performances.)

Over the years Luke has performed at many repertory theatres across the country, including the Utah Shakespearean Festival, Connecticut Rep., and Hope Summer Rep. in Holland, Michigan. Luke has his Bachelor’s from Western Michigan University and his MFA in performance from the University of Connecticut.

Luke has worked professionally as a director, teacher, audiobook narrator, voice-over, commercial, and industrial actor.

But he maintains that the greatest role he has ever played is that of a Father to his kids.

Will this just be a summer fling, or can the two overcome their pasts and find a future together?

REVIEW:
4.25 Hearts My goodness I loved this book. I have read most of the series. I some how missed My Curvy Valentine but I plan on reading that as soon as I can. But I have read the rest of the series and have loved every book.

This was a bit slow to get started but later I realized why. We needed a bit of backstory from both Daisy and Clayton to understand their relationship. Daisy has lost so much in her life and when her sister dies she is given custody of Aubrey, her niece. Her husband wants nothing to do with her niece and makes it hard but then he is killed and Daisy is on her own raising a little girl. Clayton has seen war and is finally home and lost in the world where he should feel secure. But Daisy is his solise in a crazy world. And then they are faking an engagement and things really heat up. And the story really blossoms.

I loved Daisy. She is sweet and real and so down to earth you want to be her friend. You know she is the kind of person who once she allows you in her life you are there to stay. Clayton is hard but once he opens up he really becomes soft and sweet. He never fails to take Daisy’s hand or tell her how much she means to him (even if he doesn’t say love). And then there is Aubrey. She is an 40 year old woman in a 7 year old body. She is written with an old soul and is a big part of the story.

You do not need to have read the series but I would recommend you do. The series wraps around curvy girls. These aren’t all big girls but they are “hard to fit” into the mold of the perfect woman. And sometimes reading a book without the perfect people is exactly what a girl needs.
