When he’s reunited with Layla and his memories are restored, a man he thought to be dead makes his appearance. When he threatens Belia and Layla’s life, Nikalye must choose between the two women he loves.
Who will he choose?

REVIEW:
Honestly I am just confused. This is a very short read of about 40 pages and it just was not enough for the reader to understand everything the author was trying to convey. There is too much information thrown in and it just gets confusing. I believe if given another 20 pages to explain some things properly this would have been a good short story. As it is it is just ok.

Kelly’s review of Edge Of Dawn by Lara Adrian

TITLE: Edge of Dawn – Midnight Breed #11
Characters: Mira & Kellen
AUTHOR:Lara Adrian
PUBLICATION DATE: 02/26/2013
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Twenty years after the terror of First Dawn—when mankind learned that vampires lived secretly among them—the threat of violence reigns as the two species struggle to coexist. The only group preserving the fragile harmony is the Order, an elite cadre of Breed warriors dedicated to protecting humans and vampires alike. And in this precarious world of torn loyalties and shattered trust, Mira, a fiery squad captain, finds that every fight bears an intensely personal cost.

Raised among the Order, Mira has always believed in the warrior’s code of swift—and even lethal—justice. But the one thing she desires more than the Order’s hard-won acceptance is Kellan Archer, a sexy but troubled Breed fighter. In love with him since childhood, Mira once broke through his tough exterior during an unexpected night of rapture, but the next day he mysteriously disappeared, never to return.

Kellan didn’t think he would ever see Mira again—or have to confront the truth of why he left. After abandoning the Order years ago, he now leads a band of human rebels intent on carrying out their own vigilante rule of law. Yet a high-profile kidnapping assignment brings him face-to-face with the past he sought to avoid, and the striking woman he has tried desperately to forget. And as tensions mount and the risk of bloodshed grows, Kellan and Mira must take sides—between the competing missions that dominate their lives, and the electrifying passion that claims their hearts

REVIEW:
It was great to be back in the world of the Midnight Breed. 20 years in the future from the last book (#10 Darker After Midnight) the world has changed and all the kids are grown up. I will admit it was a little strange to go from seeing Mira a little rambunctious girl in Darker too this strong warrior woman in Edge of Dawn. But once you get over the time lapse you will be totally fine.

The world is not much better then when we left it at the end of Darker. The Breed has been out in the open and humans still fear them. Wars have raged. People both Breed and human have been lost. The Breed & human are trying to find a way to live peacefully. But not all is what it seems and soon a new enemy emerges that will threaten everything that the Breed has been trying to do for the last 20 years.

Edge of Dawn brings most of the original Breed members back to this story to fight against this new enemy. And since I really don’t like to give spoilers…..

Edge of Dawn is Mira & Kellan’s story And it is a great story of love, loss, betrayal and learning to trust again. I really, really, really, loved this story and loved the new elements that Lara brings to this new world of the Midnight Breed.

I will tell you that I did need a tissue a time or two. I loved to see some of my favorite’s back (even if my favorite was only mentioned) and I have a few new favorites among the younger Breed members now too.

I am very much looking forward to where Lara is going to take us with this new Breed of characters and what she has in store for us with this new enemy.

REVIEW:
I was going to review each short story separately but honestly they are so much alike it how I would review them that I changed my mind. These stories are all a little weird. All a little odd. All a bit stupid and all a bit interesting. Honestly I am not sure if I liked these stories but something kept me wanting to read all four stories. The problem was some seem part of an ongoing series so that was a bit confusing since I have not read these authors before. But honestly I think it was just not enough time with the characters and the storylines. As with most books with more than one story/author I enjoyed some stories and didn’t some others.

If you are looking for a true vampire story than these are not it but if you are looking for a quick paranormal read that just happen to be called vampires than pick this book up.

Kimberly’s review of Misty by M. Garnett

TITLE: Misty
SERIES #: Blood Sisters #1
CHARACTERS: Misty & Rad
AUTHOR: M. Garnett
PUBLICATION DATE: 01/15/13
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N (no link)

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
I don’t have a sister—I was an orphan. I don’t believe in Vampires. They are myths that make interesting movies.

Say this three times, and three women find out that what they have believed in all their lives is wrong. They do have sisters, and there are Vampires.

Among the Vampires are those who just want their blood, because it is better than normal mortal blood. But there is also a special connection for each sister with three male Vampires who want more than just blood.

REVIEW:
3.5 Stars Ummm… Well I think I liked this book. I am not really sure but since I want to read the second in the three book series I am thinking I did. It is an interesting story. A few things are different than the normal vampire book but then again so many authors put their own spin on the breed.

I really liked Rad. He is really the hot vampire we all enjoy reading about. And Misty is written as a very strong woman who doesn’t just crumple into her vampire to be protected. I was impressed with the independence of this character.

The running away/hunt pages went on too long. While I enjoyed the clever writing of how Misty stayed on the run I was bored with the chase after one chapter. Unfortunately it went on a lot longer than that.

The other problem was I expected the other two sisters to show up but they never did. As a matter of fact they were not even mentioned until the last page. Which is why I do want to know what happens to the sisters. And on a personal note I really dislike that the cover has triplets (the sisters are not) and that they look nothing like the character described but that is just my opinion.

Kimberly’s review of Dream Keeper by Storm Savage

TITLE: Dream Keeper
SERIES #: Blood Bites #2
CHARACTERS: Savaant & Angel
AUTHOR: Storm Savage
PUBLICATION DATE: 01/22/13
ORDER LINKS: Amazon

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Angel’s arrival on Dunalino creates quite a stir. As Savaant’s chosen one, her blood is highly sought after for the high it delivers. Her scent has become irresistible to all men. The threat escalates when other males seek to steal a taste of her sensual blood. They long to experience the intense orgasm said to accompany a stolen blood-bite from the woman in the legend.

Let the games being. Can Angel wriggle her way out of a game of blood-bites? Will trust in her new found love be enough to save her? Or will a cunning male seal her fate before Savaant is able to find her?

REVIEW:
3.5 Stars This is the second part and I would recommend you read the first book or you will most certainly not understand this book at all. It is a short read (at 80 pages it is even shorter than book1 Dream Seeker) so it will not take long to read. The connection of the characters are palpable and they make you want to read what is going to happen.

This book had more erotic sex than book 1. And more intrigue. This series is good even though I can not explain why. The writing is not very good but I really enjoyed the books. I don’t know why it is good but I really think for a short read it will be something a fan of the paranormal would enjoy.

Kelly’s review of Immortal Craving by Kendra Leigh Castle

TITLE: Immortal Craving – Dark Dynasties #4
AUTHOR: Kendra Leigh Castle
Main Characters: Tasmin Singh & Bailey Harper
PUBLICATION DATE: 1/29/13
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
The last-and most lethal-of his kind . . .

Wild, uncontrollable, and powerful, the lion-shifting Rakshasa were hunted down by vicious rival vampires who feared their dark, magical abilities. Somehow one survived, and now, after centuries of hiding, Tasmin Singh reemerges as fierce and fearless as ever at the door of the Lilim queen, seeking answers . . . and sanctuary.

The human best friend to a vampire queen, Bay Harper traded her quiet, comfortable life for a world filled with immortal assassins, warring werewolves . . . and this hauntingly sexy shifter. Only Bay’s gentle touch can subdue Tasmin’s inner demons, even as he brings out a passion and sensuality she never imagined she could feel. But when a bloody struggle threatens to tear them apart, can Bay risk everything on her faith in him-or will his dark side be stronger than even their all-consuming desire?

REVIEW:
I really like the Dark Dynasty world. I love the twists and turns that Kendra has put into this book and her vampires. They are not your typical vamps which I really like. I have not been able to get back to book 1 or 2, but I have read book 3 and now book 4. I can say that you can read these books easily as stand alones, but I am going to go back and read the first two.

I loved Tasmin. I love that he has been asleep for the last 4 hundred years and doesn’t know anything about the new world, except for the fact that he is draw for some reason to a human woman who is best friends with the Queen of the Lilim’s. And Bay, she is one tough cookie. She finds herself in an impossible situation and instead of curling up in a ball or running with her tail between her legs she grabs the bull by the horns or the lion by the mane and shows everyone who is in charge here.

I really did like this book. But I would have loved for the battle scene to be a little more, uuummm of a battle. It was over just a little too fast for me. But other than the battle being a bit short I enjoyed Tasmin & Bay’s story. I am looking forward to what Kendra has in store for the Dark Dynasty world.

Kimberly’s review of Kissed By A Vampire by Caridad Pineiro

TITLE: Kissed By A Vampire
AUTHOR: Caridad Pineiro
PUBLICATION DATE: 10/16/12
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
For two thousand years, vampire elder Stacia has roamed on her own, haunted by the betrayal that turned her into a creature of the night. Her nights looming empty and eternal, Stacia longs for love, but settles for quick bites and sinful pleasures in South Beach. Until she comes face-to-face with the unforgettable DEA agent she once brought back from the brink of death. Alex Garcia knows that demons exist—the real kind, the kind that are kidnapping women and selling them into slavery. Finding those victims is his focus—not a beautiful seductress whose otherworldly abilities can’t possibly be real. But when Stacia summons all her powers to prove what she really is, Alex will summon all his to believe in the vampire’s kiss….

REVIEW:
The story is good. The connection of the characters is not. I have never read a book by Pineiro before and while most of the writing was good I was tired of her using the same words over and over. How many times does the vampire need to tell us she is an elder? While we apparently meet this characters in “Death Calls” the meeting is explained and does not matter if you have not read the first one (as I had not).

I really just did not feel a chemistry between these two characters. And Stacia (Who is an elder. Did we mention that already?) seems to be a bit of a wuss of a woman. Ok maybe not a wuss but certainly not the powerful vampire she is supposed to be. And Alex just has no depth to him. He is not the alpha you would think a vampire would fall for and his sweet moments are just blah.

Ok now that has been said the storyline is interesting and keeps you wanting to read more. Maybe it was just these characters but this book just didn’t do it for me much.

Cord’s quest to break the curse leads him on a journey of carnal self-discovery and deep into the bayous. Here, where magic reigns unchecked, Cord must tap into his dark, unpredictable abilities and all his seductive powers. And if he fails, he’ll have all eternity to regret it…

REVIEW:
3.5 Stars I have to say that the synopsis did not explain everything this book is about. Honestly it is gay erotica with a touch of a vampire story. There is a lot of sexual scenes and while it is very well written and even though it is nothing that I expected it to be I really enjoyed the storyline but I was a bit surprised by all the gay erotica

As I said it is well written and a very interesting story but there is a bit too much of the same thoughts over and over. The story would have worked better as a short story. Not because there is not enough storyline, there is, it is just things are repeated too often and take up too many pages.

I liked Cord but there were so many sex partners that it was distracting. Cord just falls into bed with anyone and after thinks “maybe I shouldn’t have done this” which makes the reader feel that the book was really a chance to write a gay erotica and the author figured vampires were popular now.

That being said if you enjoy vampire stories AND gay erotica than this is the book for you. This is just a story that you need to know the details going in before reading.

Kelly’s review of Angel Of Darkness by Cynthia Eden

TITLE: Angel of Darkness – The Fallen #1
AUTHOR: Cythina Eden
PUBLICATION DATE: 11/29/11
ORDER LINKS: Amazon| B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
As an angel of death, Keenan’s job is to collect the souls on his list. He’s carried out his duty for two thousand years and never faltered once. Until he meets Nicole St. James. When the moment of death comes, Keenan hesitates, and instead of taking Nicole, Keenan touches the vampire who’s attacking her.

Cast out of heaven for disobedience, Keenan plummets to earth. Six months later, he finally manages to track Nicole to a bar in Mexico. He’s stunned to discover that the woman he remembers has undergone a dramatic change—she’s become a vampire. And when he realizes that she’s the target of all manner of enemies—other vampires, demons, even shifters—he’ll do whatever it takes to protect her, even if all hell breaks loose

REVIEW:
Keenan is an angel of death.  All Keenan has ever knew is to follow his orders.  But all that changed when Keenan saves Nicole from the vampire that was just trying to kill her.   But with that one choice Keenan changed both his life and Nicole’s life forever. You see because he disobeys his orders Keenan is forced to become a Fallen Angel.  Nicole well, she may have survived the attack but she has been changed too.

I enjoyed this book.  Keenan is a pretty bad-ass hero.  He know what he wants and doesn’t stop until he gets it.  Nicole is a tough cookie, who wants nothing more than to be left alone.   These two make a really good team.  They need to be a good team because they don’t know who around them is a true friend or foe.

If you have not started Cynthia’s The Fallen Series yet and you love angels you should go pick up a copy.

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Nearly one hundred years after their last dance together Eva’s long lost love, Edward, makes contact again. Eva—lonely and a vampire now—can’t resist falling into his arm and under his erotic spell. She’ll do anything he asks of her now.

Then the spell is rudely interrupted by human demon hunter Ryan Jefferson, who is on the trail of an incubus. He sets out to seduce Eva properly in a searing night of dance and passion.

This dance counts in more ways than one…

REVIEW:
This is a short story of vampire erotica. It is a very short with only about 40 reading pages but a very interesting story. The characters are well defined and even though we are only given a few pages to get to know them enough is written to give us insight into why they are together. The ending has a twist which was unexpected but enjoyable. If you enjoy the genre of vampires or erotica you will enjoy this book. It is a short enough that you can read it in an hour and enjoy yourself.

Kelly’s review of The Last Girl by Kitty Thomas

TITLE: The Last Girl
AUTHOR: Kitty Thomas
PUBLICATION DATE: 02/04/12
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Six years ago strangers broke into Juliette’s house; she was home alone and only thirteen. She kept her eyes closed, praying that if she didn’t see anything, she wouldn’t be killed. No one harmed her. In fact, one of the thieves protected her. Now Juliette’s dreams are haunted by him.

Christian has waited to take her, resisting the urge each night. It always ends badly with human pets. They’re too fragile. The longer he can wait, the better, because the moment he takes her, the clock on her life starts ticking down.

Then she’ll be gone forever.

Warning: This book is dark erotica meant for a mature audience only.

REVIEW:
Kitty warns you at the beginning of this book of the things you will find in this book.  This is not a book for everyone. Bondage ~ Knife Play ~ Girl on Girl ~ Anal Play and many other taboo topics.
This is not your typical love story.  So be warned it you choose to read.  I really hate it when people read the warning, read the book then complain about the content of the book.

Christian is a very old, very cruel vampire (no nice vamps in this story) who takes what he wants and doesn’t care who gets hurt.  Christian has waited 6 long years for Juliette to come of age and that he has her he will own her until her last breath.  Because the only way she is ever going to leave him is with death and death will only come by Christian’s hand.

If you have any triggers from any of these taboo topics I would not recommend Kitty’s book for you.  But if you don’t mind pushing the boundaries you should pick up a copy of The Last Girl.

But I enjoyed this book.  It was a pretty quick read and I really had high hopes for both Christian and Juliette.  But like I said there are no nice vampires in this book and this is not your typical love story.  But there is love even if it is a little twisted.

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
A TIME FOR WAR…
A casualty of the war between the demons and the vampires, Jase Kayrs has been missing for six long years. His older brothers want answers—but they’re going to have to get them from an unlikely source. For when Kane Kayrs tracks down Amber Freebird, what he finds is a blonde, vegan pacifist who has no intention of using her skills in his war…

A TIME FOR LOVE…

Amber enjoys her life of chaotic freedom and has no intention of falling in line just because a sexy-as-sin vampire insists on order. Unfortunately, he discovers she may be the only hope they have of finding his brother, and there’s no way he’s going to let her go—even if it means mating her to gain her cooperation. The two are as different as can be, yet when the dominant Kane and the untamed Amber finally unite to rescue Jase, they just may find that opposites really do attract…

“Hot and fast from beginning to end.”

REVIEW:
AAAhhhhh Kane Kayrs.  The smart brother, the brother with all the answers.  The know it all brother.   Well Kane just met his match in the form of a very feisty female.   Amber knows nothing of the world that Kane lives in.  And when she does find out all she wants to do is get away from this crazy, uber hot man who has a few screws loose.  But Kane is not going to let Amber escape that easily.  He needs her.  She is the key to saving his brother and Kane will do anything to save Jase.

But with Amber, Kane is finally going to realize that he doesn’t know everything.  Not everything can be learned in a book or in a manual or on the internet.  Sometimes your heart knows more then your heart ever will.

I really enjoyed Kane & Amber’s story.  There is so much going on. Not only do we see Kane & Amber’s story. But we learn a little about what has happened to Jase, and I am not sure if or how he will ever get better.   We also get a glimpse into some kind of love triangle between Janie, Zane and Kalin.  And we can only guess as to what Janie is cooking up.  I am very much looking forward to what Rebecca has in store for us next in the Dark Protector’s series
