AUTHOR: Christine Feehan
PUBLICATION DATE: 07/07/20
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Take the ride of your life with the Torpedo Ink motorcycle club in this thrilling romance novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan.

Torpedo Ink is Aleksei “Absinthe” Solokov’s whole life. They’re his brothers, his family—his everything. But that doesn’t stop him from wanting something that only belongs to him. That’s why the tough biker has spent the last six weeks at the library, reading every book he can get his hands on and watching the prim and proper librarian who makes his blood rush.

For the past six weeks, Scarlet Foley has been fantasizing about the handsome, tattooed man whose eyes follow her every move. She senses he’s dangerous. She wants him to get close enough to touch. She wishes she could let him know the real woman, not the one she pretends to be. But Scarlet has a plan to carry out, and she can’t afford any distractions.

Absinthe is well aware that Scarlet is hiding something. She’s a puzzle he intends to solve, piece by intoxicating piece….

REVIEW:
Christine Feehan is honestly one of the best. And I truly enjoyed this story. This one was about Absinthe and Scarlet. Absinthe has Scarlet on his mind and he can’t seem to get her off. When Scarlet becomes “his” the whole team takes her as their own.

Scarlet has issues that Absinthe and the team are slowly finding out about and they will do anything to protect her.

Another great story by Feehan. This is the fourth in the series and I love this series and everything Feehan writes and this one doesn’t disappoint.

Kimberly reviews Catch Me If You Can by Donna Kauffman

TITLE: Catch Me If You Can
SERIES #: Men Of Rogue’s Hollow #3
CHARACTERS: Tag & Maura
AUTHOR: Donna Kauffman
PUBLICATION DATE: 12/31/19
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Oh, those Morgan Brothers. In Bad Boys Next Exit and Jingle Bell Rock, USA Today bestselling author Donna Kauffman’s bad boys, Austin and Jace Morgan, couldn’t seem to stop themselves from getting into the most delicious kinds of trouble. Now, it’s brother Tag Morgan’s turn. The brainy anthropologist is in for the biggest discovery of his life – and his greatest treasure – in a woman who blows the dust off his libido…and unearths his secret desires…

IF IT’S TUESDAY, THIS MUST BE SCOTLAND

All Tag Morgan wants to do is help settle his father’s estate so he can get back to properly cataloguing his Mayan ruins. So he’s caught quite off guard to discover that A) his father had holdings in Scotland, and B) the property now belongs to Tag. Leafing through his father’s correspondence with the property’s overseer, one Maura Sinclair, yields even more surprises. His father’s letters reveal a warmer, kinder man – nothing like the harsh, cold disciplinarian Tag remembers. Surely it has to do with Maura, whose writing is filled with a dry wit, and infectious charm that keeps Tag reading all night. By the time the sun rises, Tag knows he’s going to Scotland to find this woman who has so thoroughly captivated him.

Traveling alone through the Scottish highlands with an old car and an even older map, the man who dissects other cultures for a living is completely out of his element in this one. Eccentric locals. Bone-chilling weather. Lethal-strength ale. Scary sheep. It’s a lot to take in. More unsettling is Maura Sinclair, the woman with the sparkling blue eyes and the even sparkier temperament…a woman who’ll fight to keep the land for her tenants…and who ignites passions Tag didn’t even know he had. Once he gets a taste, Tag only wants more. And if he does, he’ll have to let go of the past and embrace the future with everything he’s got…especially his heart.

REVIEW:
This is a reprint from 2005 that I had never read. And I will be honest and say having read most of Donna Kauffman’s books and especially the newer ones and I can see how she has grown as an author. But that being said it was still a great book.

I loved some of the scenes that are in the book, especially the first meeting of Tag and Maura. The story is sweet and humorous. It is a light read but enjoyable.

I love that this story was set in Scotland in a castle the boys father bought years ago and now Tag is responsible for. And he meets Maura who has been caring for the castle for years. And the romance begins.

Such a great story to sit back and enjoy. It isn’t a mindless read but it is a simple read.

I will have to go back and see if I missed this whole series and pick them up.

Kimberly reviews Deep Freeze by Vicki Hinze

TITLE: Deep Freeze
SERIES #: Stormwatch #2
CHARACTERS: Emma & Gregory
AUTHOR: Vicki Hinze
PUBLICATION DATE: 12/12/19
ORDER LINKS: Amazon

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
The storm sweeps in like a thief in the night…

Winter storm Holly is the worst in eighty years bringing high winds, subzero temperatures and snowfall better measured in feet than in inches. The weather paralyzes everything in its path, but, in this storm, weather isn’t the only threat.

Emma Miller, a probationary security consultant posing as a reporter, is stranded at Portal International Airport in the worst storm in eighty years. She’s reassigned to protect a top-secret High Containment Lab in the international airport that houses the deadliest bio-contaminate diseases on the planet. A lab under attack by international terrorists who want those pathogens to sell on the black-market.

Dr. Gregory Mason Martin is a bio-containment specialist who runs the top-secret lab, and he knows Emma well. They grew up together, went to school together, and she’s always fascinated him, but she has a long-standing habit of going through men like water, so he’s kept his distance. He doesn’t dare to trust her or her abilities.

Now, all these years later, they must work together to protect the lab and stop the terrorists from obtaining the pathogens. And they must protect the pathogens from Holly, the deadly storm barreling mercilessly toward them. If those pathogens are stolen, the world will be held hostage, and worse, if mishandled, the country could be facing the worst pandemic in history. A pandemic that in short order could wipe out not just cities and states, but the entire nation.

Both are willing to risk their lives. Both are reluctant to risk their hearts. Yet events prove neither of them is who they were thought to be. And a fierce battle against terrorists and the storm proves challenging but no match for the challenges chambered in their human hearts.

REVIEW:
I became a fan of Hinze with the Seascape Trilogy (OH HOW I LOVE THAT SERIES!!!) but this is far from that series.

In this story there is a secret lab under an airport which is bogged in by a snowstorm. Having thousands of people stranded is bad enough but let’s add terrorists and a lab filled with bio-chemicals putting them all in danger.

The writing is great which is not unexpected with Vicki Hinze but, of course, the storyline is completely unrealistic. I mean a major lab under a major airport??? Nope! But then we don’t always read a book for reality do we?

If you are looking for a take you out of your own head suspense this is the one for you.

Too bad, he has no idea what he’s in for.

The Best Man Plan is the first full novel in Jaci Burton’s new Boots and Bouquets series. This was a great story and a wonderful start to a new series by Mrs. Burton.

Kelly reviews A Touch Of Stone And Snow by Milla Vane

TITLE: A Touch of Stone and Snow
SERIES #: A Gathering of Dragons #2
CHARACTERS: Aerax & Lizzan
AUTHOR: Milla Vane
PUBLICATION DATE: July 7, 2020
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Milla Vane returns to a world of kings, magic, and passion in her exhilarating A Gathering of Dragons series, as a great alliance forms to stand against an evil warlord intent on their destruction.
Danger lurks in the western realms. The Destroyer’s imminent return has sent the realms into turmoil as desperate citizens seek refuge—but there’s no safety to be found when demons and wraiths crawl out from the shadows. Even Koth, a northern island kingdom left untouched by the Destroyer a generation past, is besieged by terrors spawned from corrupt magics.
When Lizzan leads the Kothan army against these terrors, only to see her soldiers massacred and to emerge as the only survivor, she is called a coward and a deserter. Shunned from her home, Lizzan now wanders in solitude as a mercenary for hire, until she encounters a group of warriors seeking new alliances with the northern kingdoms—a group that includes Aerax, the bastard prince of Koth, and the man who sent her into exile.
Though they were childhood friends, Aerax cannot allow himself to be close to the only woman who might thwart his treacherous plan to save their island realm. But when a goddess’s demand binds them together, Lizzan and Aerax must find a way to overcome their painful pasts. Or there will be no future for the western realms…

REVIEW:
Another exciting installment in Milla Vane’s A Gathering of Dragon’s series. In A Touch of Stone and Snow we are introduced to a new set of characters. There are a couple of familiar names from A Heart of Blood and Ashes that we do get to see. But in this story we follow Aerax & Lizzan both who are from Koth but have been separated for a number of years.
Aerax & Lizzan both have a very tangled history that will come full circle in this story. We also will learn a lot more about the world past, present and future.
I would highly recommend reading this series in order that you can better follow the story arc of what is happening in this world.
I am extremely excited for the third installment in this series!!!

Kimberly reviews Daddy’s Girls by Danielle Steel

TITLE: Daddy’s Girls
CHARACTERS: Caroline, Gemma & Kate
AUTHOR: Danielle Steel
PUBLICATION DATE: 06/09/20
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
IN DANIELLE STEEL’S RIVETING NOVEL, THREE WOMEN RAISED BY THEIR FATHER ON A SPRAWLING CALIFORNIA RANCH NOW CONFRONT DIFFICULT TRUTHS ABOUT THEIR PAST.

Decades ago, after the death of his wife, Texas ranch hand JT Tucker took his three small daughters to California to start a new life. With almost no money, a will of iron, and hard work, he eventually built the biggest ranch in California. but when he dies suddenly at the age of 64, the ranch is inherited by his three daughters – each of them finding it impossible to believe this larger-than-life figure is gone from their lives.

JT’s relationship with each daughter was entirely different. Caroline, the youngest and most reserved, was overlooked by her father for her entire life and fled to become a wife, mother, and writer in Marin County. Gemma, his declared favorite, sought out Hollywood glamour and success and became a major television star. Kate, the eldest, stayed at home with her father to do his bidding as a ranch hand, without thanks or praise, forsaking marriage and a family of her own for the love of him.

Now, upon JT’s death, the paper trail he leaves behind begins to reveal much more than the three sisters ever guessed about who he really was. It will turn their world upside down, and each of them must grapple with a new reality, strengthening their relationships with one another and discovering who they are now as grown women, in spite of him.

Set against the magnificent backdrop of the West and the drams of a family in turmoil, ‘DADDY’S GIRLS’ is the story of three remarkable women and their unique bond to each other – the daughters of a complex, many-faceted, domineering father who left his mark on each of them.

REVIEW:
4.25 Hearts So it’s Danielle Steel, if you are a fan of the genre of course you know the story is great.

This story is about family and the relationship dynamics between sisters and the different relationship they have with their father. How can three girls grow up with the same dad and have completely different feelings towards him and about him?

As with every Danielle Steel book there is real life thrown into her stories. You will definitely connect with at least one of the girls and maybe all of them in some form or another.

Steel is the queen of her genre and any fan grabs her stories as soon as they come on the market and this is one you will love adding to your collection.

TITLE: The Summer Deal
SERIES #: Wildstone #5
CHARACTERS: Brynn, Kinsey & Eli
AUTHOR: Jill Shalvis
PUBLICATION DATE: 06/02/20
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Brynn Turner desperately wishes she had it together, but her personal life is like a ping-pong match that’s left her scared and hurt after so many attempts to get it right. In search of a place to lick her wounds and get a fresh start, she heads back home to Wildstone.

And then there’s Kinsey Davis, who after battling serious health issues her entire twenty-nine years of life, is tired of hoping for . . . well, anything. She’s fierce, tough, and pretty much the opposite of Brynn except for one thing: they’re half-sisters. Kinsey is keeping this bombshell, and a few others as well. Long time frenemies from summer camp, there’s no way she’s going to tell Brynn they’re related.

But then Brynn runs into Kinsey’s lifelong best friend, Eli, renewing a childhood crush. He’s still easy-going and funny and sexy as hell. When he gets her to agree to a summer-time deal to trust him to do right by her, no matter what, she never dreams it’ll result in finding a piece of herself she didn’t even know was missing. She could have a sister, love, and a future―if she can only learn to let go of the past.

As the long days of summer wind down, the three of them must discover if forgiveness is enough to grasp the unconditional love that’s right in front of them.

REVIEW:
Oh how I love Jill Shalvis! I have never been disappointed in what she has written and this is another story I just enjoyed. There were characters that drove me nuts but somehow that just made them family. There is a bit of weird dynamics here so let me see if I can help a reader out. Brynn and Kinsey are frenemies for childhood but actually they are half siblings. Brynn had a crush on Eli who is now Kinsey’s boyfriend and more like bro/sis with Brynn. Brynn has a sorta boyfriend in Deck. Brynn knows she is half siblings but keeps it and so much more from Kinsey but tells Eli and makes him promise not to tell his girlfriend because she has been through health issues.

Caught up? Yeah it can be confusing but Jill Shalvis writes it so perfectly that you just fall into her writing and enjoy.

Grab this book and bring it along this summer to where ever you are going…. Ok you can read it at home since we are mostly stuck here… but no matter where you are it will be a read you will enjoy every word of.

Kimberly reviews Always The Last To Know by Kristan Higgins

TITLE: Always The Last To Know
CHARACTERS: Barb, John & Sadie
AUTHOR: Kristan Higgins
PUBLICATION DATE: 06/09/20
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Sometimes you have to break a family to fix it.

From New York Times bestselling author Kristan Higgins, a new novel examining a family at the breaking point in all its messy, difficult, wonderful complexity.

The Frosts are a typical American family. Barb and John, married almost fifty years, are testy and bored with each other…who could blame them after all this time? At least they have their daughters– Barb’s favorite, the perfect, brilliant Juliet; and John’s darling, the free-spirited Sadie. The girls themselves couldn’t be more different, but at least they got along, more or less. It was fine. It was enough.

Until the day John had a stroke, and their house of cards came tumbling down.

Now Sadie has to put her career as a teacher and struggling artist in New York on hold to come back and care for her beloved dad–and face the love of her life, whose heart she broke, and who broke hers. Now Juliet has to wonder if people will notice that despite her perfect career as a successful architect, her perfect marriage to a charming Brit, and her two perfect daughters, she’s spending an increasing amount of time in the closet having panic attacks.

And now Barb and John will finally have to face what’s been going on in their marriage all along.

From the author of Good Luck with That and Life and Other Inconveniences comes a new novel of heartbreaking truths and hilarious honesty about what family really means.

REVIEW:
This might be one of my favorite Kristan Higgins books ever. The reason why is that it is so real. I kept seeing myself in a number of characters at different times. And I love that kind of story.

I want to tell you that I connected more with one character but I didn’t. I connected with all of them. I guess because the family dynamic can be really anyone’s family. We all have ups and downs in our life and this story shows that we are not alone.

Higgins has really grown as an author since I have been reading her books. And I can’t wait until her next book and every one after that.

This is a great beach read. Just fall into the story and relax.

Dianna Duvall’s Top 5 Reasons to Love Nick from Broken Dawn

Dianne Duvall is here today to tell us her Top 5 reasons to love Nick Belanger. Her newest hero from Broken Dawn (book 10 in the Immortal Guardian’s series).  I know I am super excited to learn more about Nick. So, for now I will turn the blog over to Dianne! Dianne the blog is yours.   Hello! Thanks so much for joining us in celebrating the release of BROKEN DAWN, an exciting new stand-alone novel in my Immortal Guardians series. If you like strong heroines, powerful preternatural heroes, action that will keep you flipping pages well past your bedtime, and romance that is alternately sweet and steamy and laced with humor, then I think you’ll like Nick and Kayla’s story. If you’re new to my Immortal Guardians series, don’t worry. You won’t be lost at all if you dive into it with this one. To give you a taste of what you’ll find in BROKEN DAWN, I thought I would introduce you to Nick by listing 5 Reasons I think you’re going to love him: 1 He’s tall, dark, and handsome. Kayla froze and looked at her neighbor’s fence. A low masculine chuckle floated on the night, doing funny things to her insides. Grass crunched as footsteps approached the five-foot fence. When a handsome face appeared above it, butterflies filled her belly. Nick Belanger smiled at her, his brown eyes glinting with amusement in the ambient illumination cast by the floodlights. “Everything okay?” Straightening, she returned his smile and held up the snail. “Yes. Just stopping this little bugger. He and his buddies keep devouring my pepper plants.” He grinned. Damn, he was handsome. Not in a pretty-boy way, but in a ruggedly masculine way. His short black hair was slicked back from his face, still wet from a recent shower. His strong jaw bore a five-o’clock shadow. His straight white teeth provided sharp contrast to the dark stubble that coated his cheeks. She’d been attracted to him ever since she had moved next door to him six years ago. 2 He loves strong women. “Oh sure. You can laugh,” Eliana grumbled as she took it. “You have Kayla.” He winced. “Not yet, I don’t. There’s a goodly chance I’m going to bungle things with her. Badly.” He gestured to the vampires on the ground around them. “She doesn’t even know about this aspect of my life. And I don’t know how to tell her. What woman wouldn’t flee from a man who claims he hunts and kills vampires for a living?” “A strong one,” she retorted, the words a little muffled as she wiped her face clean. “And Kayla is ballsy. I knew it as soon as I met her.” He smiled. “She is. Strong women are so hot.” 3 He’s passionate. Every muscle in his body went rigid. Then he rolled toward her, not stopping until she was on her back and he loomed over her. He shoved a muscled thigh between hers, parting them and making room for himself. Then, his eyes as bright as the damned sun, he ducked his head and claimed her lips, devouring her and stoking the flames until she moaned and arched up against him.  YES. This was what she wanted, what she needed. It had been soooooo long since any man had touched her. And Nick wasn’t just any man. He was the one who frequented all of her illicit sexual fantasies. She moaned a protest when his lips left hers and trailed kisses across her cheek to her ear. His warm breath sent more sensual shivers through her before he raised his head and stared down at her. 4 He has a very appealing sense of humor. Smiling, Kayla leaned back and gave his shoulder a shove. “You are SO bad!” “It’s your fault. You bring it out in me.” “Uh-huh. Sure I do. How red is my face right now?” He grinned. “You’ve passed raspberry and are rapidly approaching full-blown strawberry. It’s adorable.” She laughed. 5 He’s honest. Dragging his lips from hers, he buried his face in her neck. His arms tightened around her almost to the point of pain. Frowning, wanting those lips on hers again, she hugged him back. “Nick?” “You scared the hell out of me today,” he murmured, his deep voice hoarse. Her heart turned over. He would only have such a reaction if he cared about her. How had she not realized that before? “I’m sorry.” He shook his head. “Just let me hold you a minute.” Smiling, she snuggled against him. I hope you’ll enjoy Nick and Kayla’s story!

ABOUT THE BOOK

Broken Dawn
Book #10 Immortal Guardians By Dianne Duvall June 16, 2020 Delve into an exciting new stand-alone novel in New York Times bestselling author Dianne Duvall’s “fast-paced and humorous” (Publishers Weekly), “utterly addictive” (RT Book Reviews) Immortal Guardians series. Nick Belanger can’t stop thinking about the single mother who lives next door. She’s smart. She’s funny. She’s so beautiful he can’t stare at her too long for fear his eyes will start to glow. But Kayla thinks he’s just an ordinary guy who works in security. Finding out he instead is a powerful immortal warrior who hunts and slays psychotic vampires for a living may not go over well, particularly since she has a daughter she doesn’t want to endanger. Kayla Dorman can keep neither her gaze nor her thoughts from straying to the man next door. Who can blame her really? He is the epitome of tall, dark, and handsome with smart, charming, and honorable thrown in. He’s also a few years younger than her and surely would not be interested in a single mom who hasn’t dated since her divorce. At least that’s what she thinks until an accident nearly takes her life and Nick risks all to save her. The dynamics of their relationship swiftly change. The friendship they’ve developed over the years deepens into love as the two spend every minute they can together, laughing and teasing, never suspecting a threat may lurk in the shadows. But that threat soon strikes, making it clear that Nick is the target and his enemy doesn’t care if Kayla gets caught in the cross fire. Though Kayla bravely rises to the occasion and is determined to do whatever it takes to help Nick defeat his enemy, Nick is terrified of losing her. Can he identify and eliminate his new nemesis before the man takes everything from him?

Kimberly reviews Close Up by Amanda Quick

TITLE: Close Up
SERIES #: Burning Cove #4
CHARACTERS: Vivian & Nick
AUTHOR: Amanda Quick
PUBLICATION DATE: 05/05/20
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Welcome to Burning Cove, California where 1930s Hollywood glamour conceals a ruthless killer…

Vivian Brazier never thought life as an art photographer would include nightly wake-up calls to snap photos of grisly crime scenes or headshots for aspiring male actors. Although she is set on a career of transforming photography into a new art form, she knows her current work is what’s paying the bills.

After shooting crime scene photos of a famous actress, the latest victim of the murderer the press has dubbed the “Dagger Killer,” Vivian notices eerie similarities to the crime scenes of previous victims—details that only another photographer would have noticed—details that put Vivian at the top of the killer’s target list.

Nick Sundridge has always been able to “see” things that others don’t, coping with disturbing dreams and visions. His talent, or as he puts it—his curse—along with his dark past makes him a recluse, but a brilliant investigator. As the only one with the ability to help, Nick is sent to protect Vivian. Together, they discover the Dagger Killer has ties to the glitz and glamour of Hollywood royalty and high society. It is a cutthroat world of allure and deception that Vivian and Nick must traverse—all in order to uncover the killer who will stop at nothing to add them to their gallery of murders.

REVIEW:
Oh how I love Jayne Ann Krentz/Amanda Quick. And I really am enjoying this series. This is the 4th in the series but can be read as a stand alone. In this story Vivian is a photographer who was born with a silver spoon in her mouth but wanted to be her own person so she went into the photography field. And she also photographs crime scenes and something about her latest one has her looking into the crime a bit more than she should. But then all of JAK/AQ women are independent and strong so we couldn’t expect anything different.

Nick is brought in to protect Vivian as a bodyguard since she has been put into the crosshairs of the Dagger Killer.

Another great story by JAK/AQ. She always goes above and beyond.

TITLE: Shadow Flight
SERIES #: Shadow Riders #5
CHARACTERS: Nicoletta & Taviano
AUTHOR: Christine Feehan
PUBLICATION DATE: 05/05/20
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Chicago’s Ferraro crime family will do anything to protect one of their own in this thrilling entry in the Shadow Riders series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan.

Nicoletta Gomez was a terrified teenager when Taviano Ferraro and his brother saved her life. Ever since, she’s been trying to rise above what was done to her, molding herself into a survivor under the protective eyes of the Ferraro family. All the while, she’s been falling hopelessly in love with the man who knows her darkest secrets.…

With one look, Taviano knew that Nicoletta was his, just as he felt their shadows connect. But no matter how much he wanted to claim her, he knew she needed time to become her own woman. When Nicoletta once again finds herself in the sights of dangerous men, a split-second decision has Taviano breaking all of the Ferraro family’s rules to keep her safe. And as far as he’s concerned, the reward is more than worth the risk.

REVIEW:
4.5 Hearts Another incredible book from Christine Feehan. Ms Feehan has a way of writing that makes you want to climb into the story and meet the characters in person. In this case Nicoletta needed a hug and I just wanted to jump in and do it. Don’t get me wrong Nicoletta is STRONG! She has been through hell and every woman’s worst nightmare but not only has she come out of it but she has come out of it with strength that I found palpable.

Taviano is just so sweet. Ok maybe not sweet but you just got to love a guy who is a diamond in the rough and realizes that Nicoletta needs time. And is willing to give her all the time she needs. That is until time is up and she is in danger again.

I adore Christine Feehan. I have never been disappointed in a book and this is no exception. This is the 5th in the book and while it can be a stand alone I am not sure why anyone wouldn’t want to devour any book Feehan writes.
