ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
An exciting new series featuring Mike “Primetown” Brown, a character from her popular “Black Ops, Inc.” series.

For the seven years after Operation Slam Dunk went south, Mike Brown got drunk on each anniversary. The eighth year was no different–until he was drugged by a woman and woke up to her questions about what had happened eight years ago in Afghanistan. CIA attorney Eva Salinas has her own theory behind what happened to Mike’s team–which included her husband–in Afghanistan eight years ago, and she’s determined to prove foul play. Though she doesn’t trust him, Mike is the only person she can turn to for help. Under an assumed name, Eva convinces Mike to assemble a new team and go after the traitor who screwed up both their lives. As they track down the rogue who started it all, Eva and Mike discover they can’t live without each other. But can they stay alive while an enemy is still on the loose?

REVIEW:
Killing Time is Cindy Gerard’s first book in her new One-Eyed Jacks series, which is a spin off of her Black Ops Series. While I have not read any of the Black Ops books, I didn’t feel lost at all when some of the Black Ops characters popped into this book. If anything it makes me want to go buy the whole Black Ops series and read them. But back to Killing Time.

Mike & Eva don’t really get off on the right foot in this book. I love that Eva was able to get a jump on him, seeing he was thinking with the wrong brain and all. But they make a great team and you always need some you trust at your six.

There is a lot of history in this book, but Cindy does a great job of laying it out for us, so we don’t feel lost. I had a hard time putting this book down. I kept wanting to know who…. Who did this to Mike & Eva….. Who, Why and Oh please don’t let it be…… (you know I don’t give spoiler’s silly)

Over all I really enjoyed this book and so look forward to what Cindy has in store for Coppe & Taggart, Mike’s fellow One-Eyed Jack Team members

REVIEW:
Shay Morgan has had anything but a storybook life. Her childhood is something made of nightmares and her adult life is not going much better. Recovering from a car accident, breaking up with her boyfriend, her best friend is starting to act really strange and to top it all off someone is impersonating her.

Shay will soon learn that she has to step out of her comfort zone in order to protect herself from this most recent threat. But can Shay let the past go long enough to truly trust the only person in her life that is worth her trust?

This was a great story. Messed up, but a great story. Even when I learn the who, the what and the why I was still dying for more. I didn’t want to put this book down until the last page was read.

Really Good!! If you love a good romantic suspense you really should pick up a copy of Stolen.

Kelly’s review of One Night With A Hero by Laura Kaye

TITLE: One Night with a Hero
AUTHOR: Laura Kaye
PUBLICATION DATE: 10/20/2012
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
He wants just one night…

After growing up with an abusive, alcoholic father, Army Special Forces Sgt. Brady Scott vowed never to marry or have kids. Sent stateside to get his head on straight—and his anger in check—Brady’s looking for a distraction. He finds it in his beautiful new neighbor’s one-night-only offer for hot sex, but her ability to make him forget is addictive. Suddenly, Brady’s not so sure he can stay away.

…what they need is each other.

Orphaned as a child, community center director Joss Daniels swore she’d never put herself in a position to be left behind again, but she can’t deny herself one sizzling night with the sexy soldier who makes her laugh and kisses her senseless. When Joss discovers she’s pregnant, Brady’s rejection leaves her feeling abandoned. Now, they must overcome their fears before they lose the love and security they’ve found in each other, but can they let go of the past to create a future together?

REVIEW:
Brady, Brady, Brady……
One Night with a Hero is Laura Kaye’s follow up to her Forbidden Hero story. Brady is Alyssa’s big brother and this boy has some major demons of his own.

In One Night with a Hero Brady tried to drowned his self-imposed sorrows in that of a very feisty and super cute Joss. But when Brady finds that his one night stand is living next door he can’t help but go back for seconds, then instantly regrets his actions.

But will seconds be enough?

There is just something about Joss that draws Brady, but he is too darn stubborn to take a chance. And therefore does everything he can to distance himself from her.

Brady is a beyond stubborn and a bit of an a$$. Yes, he has some issues from his past. The way he treats Joss at times made me want to slap him upside the head. Joss is a big girl and really does know how to take care of herself. But protecting your heart is a totally different situation. There are some thing a girl should not have to deal with on her own. But when push comes to shove Joss knows how to shove back.

Over all I really liked this story and very glad that Laura gave us Brady’s story

Kimberly’s review of Dark Knight by Donna Kauffman

TITLE: Dark Knight
AUTHOR: Donna Kauffman
PUBLICATION DATE: 09/10/12
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
As the head of a secret government task force, commonly referred to as the “dirty dozen,” Scottie Giardi is as tough as she is professional. But this skilled operative has her hands full keeping Logan Blackstone in check while his brother completes a dangerous mission. Logan is big, strong, sexy, and determined to find the twin brother he’s never met. More amused than intimidated by Scottie’s undercover games, he’s ready to play, offering a taste of sweet temptation in the bargain.

An ex-cop on a deeply personal mission, Logan isn’t about to tolerate interference, even if Scottie is gorgeous and could easily make him forget his business. She may have the upper hand while they’re locked up in his mountain cabin, but the fire in her eyes tells him the desire she feels is real. Their mutual attraction is about to take them into the dangerous, vulnerable places of the heart, where there’s no turning back.

REVIEW:
I so enjoyed this book. I had just finished the other three in the series (Santerra’s Sin #1, Silent Warrior #2, Light My Fire #3) and was thinking I would take a break and come back to this book later but something made me start reading it and I think it is the best of the series.

To be honest though there is no suspense in this romantic suspense but there is a lot of romance. The character of Logan is so intense and mesmerizing that it is hard not to fall for him right away. Scottie is a tough woman but the author has been able to match her up to someone equal to her and yet complimentary to her. Not any man would have been good for Scottie but Logan is perfect.

This is a great short story and one that any romance fan will enjoy. You do not need to read the others in the series but I think as a fan you will enjoy them. Pick up the first one and you will not be able to put any of them down.

Yet as Rae tends to Jarrett’s battered body she realizes that the air between them is still sizzling with a slow-burning need. But this time there are more than just hearts at stake. The mission that almost got Jarrett killed threatens to put Rae back in harm’s way. And if they surrender to their desires, it may cost them their lives.

REVIEW:
This is a reprint of an earlier work from Donna Kauffman. As with all her books I enjoyed this one. The characters are interesting. The women in Kauffman’s Loveswept novels always prove to be independent and capable, yet, willing to find love. The men are dangerous and a diamond in the rough. This book was no different. This is the first in the Three Musketeers series. It is a good short read. Perfect for cuddling up in front of the fire or on a beach.

REVIEW:
She Can Tell takes us on a wild ride of who done it. Even when you think you know you don’t know.

Whenever I read a suspense book I try so hard to figure out who it the bad guy. In She Can Tell I thought I know who did it, then Melinda throughs something in that makes me questions and rethink myself. Then when I think I have it again she switches the focus on to someone else again. And still I think I know, but oh NO…. that can’t be right.

That being said I really loved She Can Tell. I loved the world Melinda created, the characters she developed and the suspense that she infuses in this story. I can’t wait to see what Melinda has in store for us next.

If you love a good romance suspense and have not tried Melinda Leigh yet, I would highly recommend you go pick up a copy of She Can Tell.

Kimberly’s review of Acts of Honor by Vicki Hinze

TITLE: Acts Of Honor
AUTHOR: Vicki Hinze
PUBLICATION DATE: 08/30/12
ORDER LINKS: Amazon|B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
He survived a mysterious mission more horrible than the mind can imagine; only she can break through the trauma and get him to talk. But if she succeeds, they both may not survive.

Dr. Sara West knows only that her high-security military patient goes by the name “Joe,” that he’s in a catatonic state and can only repeat the code words, “I wept,” and that his post-traumatic stress disorder is a result of his last mission as a Shadow Watcher—a spy who spies on other spies. Her brother-in-law was also a Shadow Watcher. He committed suicide in the same sinister military facility where Joe, and other military men like him, are now in treatment. Sara wants to learn what caused her sister’s unshakable husband to kill himself and, in the process, to heal Joe, a compelling man who wins her love. But the secrets inside him reveal a shocking truth. One she isn’t sure they can overcome.

Vicki Hinze is the award-winning author of 30 novels, 4 nonfiction books and hundreds of articles, published in as many as sixty-three countries. She is recognized by Who’s Who in the World as an author and as an educator.

REVIEW:
What an interesting story. I am not sure I have read anything like it before. Yes there are stories of military men being used as lab rats and the woman who is a doctor that saves them but this has something just a bit more to it. And that bit more is what makes this book so intriguing.

The characters are written very well and the story really pulls you in from the first few pages. I spent a couple of nights falling asleep as I wondered why/who/how? I really had no idea why they were doing what they were doing and who was the one that was doing it and how in the world was anyone going to figure it out.

Hinze is a brilliant writer who I first enjoyed with her Seascape Trilogy, which I would recommend any lover of romance have in their collection, but this is a romantic suspense and the suspense just keeps piling on. If you enjoy a book that you will not be able to figure out the ending and has a touch (but only a touch) of romance than I recommend this book. You will not be able to put it down.

Kimberly’s review of Silent Warrior by Donna Kauffman

TITLE: Silent Warrior
AUTHOR: Donna Kauffman
PUBLICATION DATE: 09/10/12
ORDER LINKS: Amazon| B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
The note is simple but chilling: “I’m in trouble. Please help me. You’re the only one I trust.” Sensing the desperation in the plea for help, John McShane drops everything to find the person who wrote the note: Cali Ellis, a woman who’s been simmering in his heart for ten years. As a highly trained member of an elite tactical squad, McShane knows instantly that the people tracking Cali are well-connected . . . and cold-blooded. As he sets out to help Cali escape from these criminals, he begins to wonder if he can keep his feelings for her under control, at least long enough to save her.

Ten years ago, Cali Ellis lost too much: both her new husband and her unborn child. Now the suspicious men her late husband worked for have tracked her down, and apparently want her dead. Fearing for her life, Cali flees to the Caribbean island of Martinique and reaches out to the only person she knows will help her: John McShane. Despite all that they’ve been through in the past, Cali just might risk her heart again—if they both manage to stay alive.

REVIEW:
This is the second in the Delgado’s Dirty Dozen series. As a recent fan of Donna Kauffman’s I am going back to find her older books which are being re-released and I had picked up this book not realizing it was part of the series. Luckily I had read Santerra’s Sin first but even if I hadn’t this book can stand alone and in my opinion is better than the first in the series. The characters have an instant connection and a past so I did not feel like they went from “hello” to “I love you” in a matter of moments. John is a wonderful alpha male who any fan of romance will fall for. And what I enjoyed most about Cali is she is a strong independent woman who understood herself and the situation enough to know she needs help and isn’t afraid to ask for it but after getting it didn’t turn into the helpless heroine. The romance is very strong in this book and while there is suspense I would not say there is a lot but there is enough to keep the readers attention. I didn’t want to put it down.

Kelly’s review of Ice Cold by Cherry Adair

PUBLICATION DATE: 10/11/12
ORDER LINKS: Amazon| B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
T-FLAC operative Rafael Navarro will never allow another woman to suffer the consequences of his dangerous life. But in a world where a terrorist can do more damage with a keyboard than a bomb, he needs the expert help of a cyber-geek. And fast. Fellow operative, and cybercrimes specialist Honey Winston prefers computers to people. But when a serial bomber threatens the world’s financial infrastructure, she’s forced to work closely with Navarro, whose notorious skill in the bedroom is as legendary as his dexterity defusing bombs. Honey and Rafael must fight sparks hot enough to melt their resolve, and push beyond fear itself, as they join forces in a bid to race the clock before a sinister and lethal bomber proves just how much they both have to lose. T-FLAC is back, and the timer is counting down in the most pulse-pounding explosive op yet.

REVIEW:
Ice Cold is Cherry Adair’s 17th book in the T-Flac series. But can easily stand alone. As this was the first book in this series that I have read. So never fear if you are not catch up on this series

I enjoyed this book, glad that I read it and would suggest it to my fellow book readers. But I didn’t love this book. At times I found myself a little board and would skim parts. But I did like the relationship between Honey & Rafael. I did enjoy even if I was left with a few unanswered questions. At the end I felt like there were questions about Rafael’s past that were never answered. Questions that I think Honey would have wanted answered. But all and all it was a good story.

If you are a fan of Cherry Adair I believe you will like this story.

Kimberly’s review of Red by Kate Kinsey

TITLE: Red
AUTHOR: Kate Kinsey
PUBLICATION DATE: 09/06/12
ORDER LINKS: Amazon| B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Truly, madly…deadly
A BDSM thriller
Detective Tom Hanson has a string of grotesquely mutilated bodies on his hands and no answers—aside from the fact that the victims were members of an underground sex club catering to singular erotic tastes. Tastes the long, lean detective has sampled himself in the arms of his former lover, a fiery redhead who offered the most erotic, irresistible sex he’d ever encountered. Until the night she’d begged for the one thing he couldn’t give, and he lost her forever.

Gina Larsen is the only one who can guide Hanson through the fringe world of dark fantasy and desire that lies hidden deep beneath the Bible Belt. Lured into her lair by a quest for justice, Hanson discovers his hunger for Gina has only grown stronger and deeper…beyond the edge of control. Soon he’s shedding his last inhibitions in the search for answers, but the more she draws him into her erotic web, the less he can distinguish between passion and duty, pleasure and pain…good and evil.

REVIEW:
I guess the best way to describe this book erotic suspense. It is a who-dun-it in the BDSM world. While I did want to know what happened and who the killer was there is just something off about this book.

There are too many characters introduced too quickly for the reader to remember who is who which is distracting. The language in the book is crude and I am not talking about the sexual words but the use of vulgarities like fag, etc which just takes away from the story. The feel of the book, at least to me, is the author does not live the BDSM lifestyle but has read a lot about it. It does not seem to be a familiar area for the author. However at the end of the book the author notes say she is a member of the community.

The characters of Hansen and Gina never seem to have any chemistry and Hansen seems to betray his own preferences in the book which does not seem to mesh. Gina seems stone cold and never seems to warm up. Hansen’s partner is rude and honestly written as not only a jerk but stupid too. His character is being used as an excuse for the author to answer questions about what things in the lifestyle mean which is fine but when a cop doesn’t know what “endorphins” are it makes him written as an idiot.

If you want to read a erotic suspense than I guess this is a good enough book but the erotica is not very erotic and while the suspense is suspenseful I am not sure it makes up for having to read the whole story.

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Some call her a killer.
Others call her a hero.

Lexie Olympia calls herself neither. She’s getting the job done because she can. A beloved philanthropist by day who’s nicknamed Melville’s Sweetheart, Lexie has the city wrapped around her little finger. Having been a victim in the past, left behind with the killer still on the loose, Lexie knows what it’s like to live with that fear. Instead of biting her nails over it, she takes action. Drug lords, gang leaders, con artists, kidnappers, serial killers, anyone who leaves behind innocent victims are marked on Lexie’s list.

When a neighbor leaves a stolen ancient dagger on her doorstep and skips town, Lexie’s left picking up the pieces. The police, a local private investigator, and a gang are all after this artifact and Lexie uses her nighttime persona, Artemis, to get to the bottom of things. Everything is going smoothly until she gets caught.

REVIEW:
I love that Keri stepped out of her comfort zone of the Apple Trail series and try her hand at Mystery Romance. I loved her new book “In Her Sights” book 1 in the Lexie Olympia Series. Written under the pen name Charley Colins.

I love that Lexie Olympia is not what she seems. She is not the spoiled princess most people think she is. What she really is, well a secret that if it gets out could get her killed and those who know what she does

But Lexie’s perfectly planned life is about to flipped upside down by the man who just broke into her house. Lexie is going to quickly learn that this stranger is going to become a very important person to her and her cause.

If you enjoy a good mystery romance I would suggest picking up a copy of IN HER SIGHTS and learn a little about Lexie Olympia and her secrets.

REVIEW:

This is the first Harlequin Intrigue book I have read in a long time. Now I remember why I loved them so much!  This book was explosive from the beginning and was a non-stop ride for the whole book. I really enjoy my romances with a healthy dose of mystery, suspense and intrigue. This book had a super heaping helping of it. Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down. I admit to being fooled by some of the false paths laid to the true bad guy. I love when a book can do that to me. Sometimes they are just too darn predictable, but not this book. There was also a really cool twin twist and the secondary romance between the other brother was interesting too. The twist at the end of the book was a great trick that I am not going to tell you about because I don’t want to ruin the book. For goodness sake, go out and buy this book. It was that freaking good! This was my very first book by Ms. Dimon. I am now looking for more of her awesome books to read!
