8- S.G. Redling – THE TRUE LOVE OF SHERRY PAPERS

REVIEW: 3 1/2 Over all Hearts
As these are all short stories my review of each are going to be short and sweet too 😉 Okay so over all these stories were okay for me. 2 of them I really like, one of them I is didn’t like at all and the other were kinda in the middle for me.

HEARTLESS: What a way to start off this story collection!!! I have never read any of Tiffinie’s books yet. But I fell in love with Cam & Roxie!! And really nothing says true love like a couple murders right?

TANTRABOBUS: This story was just okay for me. I didn’t really feel much of a connection with any of the characters. But the ghost story was interesting

JUST A LIE: This was not a bad little story. Murder, betrayal and a confession note. But it left me looking for the next page. I hope that there will be a continuation of this story.

UNFORGIVEN: This story was just okay for me. I was a little confused about the world and what was going on.

SWEEPERS: A KISS TO DIE FOR: I didn’t like this story. 🙁

SALT AND WATER: Again another story that was just okay for me. I again was confused about the world.

FURY OF FATE: My first thought was Ivar really Ivar? After all the crap he has put the Nightfury’s through? But once I started to read I realized Ivar might not be as bad as we thought. Loved this story and hope that Coreene will continue these two’s story.

THE TRUE LOVE OF SHERRY PAPERS: This was a strange story for me. I liked it but was a little confused.

REVIEW:
In Scream for Me, we catch up with Kyle McKenzie & Cadence Hollow who are called in to help track a killer, but this case is a little too close to home. Another young woman has vanished in the dead of the night. In the same town and the same way that Kyle’s little sister vanished 15 years ago. As the agents get closer the killer gets more bold. But the question is how many are still alive and is Maria, Kyle’s sister, one of them?

I am honestly not sure what is more scary the mind of a killer or the mind of a suspense author. Both are very very scary places to be. This book had me guessing who the killer was the whole time. I thought it was one person and then realized no it can’t be it has to be this other person. In the end…… Well I won’t tell you that. You need to pick up your own copy of Scream for Me and find out for yourself.

REVIEW:
Sam is such an awesome guy who is tortured by his past. But when Sam’s best friend Mac show up and asks him for a favor Sam can’t say no. Not to this mission. Not if it means he gets to get close to Mac’s super hot sister.

Poor Sheri has had a bit of a rough year: twin boys, a cheating husband, a divorce, being a single mom. And now she has to deal with her brother’s idea of a nanny. Who just happens to come in the form of a very very handsome man.

This was a fun book to read. I totally fell in love with Sam from page one. And Sheri is very stubborn yet she worries so much about being a bad mom. These two were really fun to read about the sexual tension between these two was great.

As always Tawna’s story mixes romance, sexy and make you laugh out loud. If you are looking for a fun read I would suggest picking up a copy of Marine For Hire.

REVIEW:
I liked this story, but didn’t love. I am not sure if it is this genre or what. But I have yet to find a New Adult book that has blown me away. Maybe it is because I don’t connect with the characters on that level. Maybe I am just too old. I am not really sure. I liked Riley. For me he made the story worth reading. I liked that he was worried about his younger brothers so much. I am just really on the fence about this how New Adult genre.

REVIEW:
4.5 Hearts Another great story from Kendra. It was fun to see Jack & Lacey again even if it is not under the best of circumstances. Because really nothing can ruin a vacation like finding a dead body and be through head first in a murder investigation.

I am not going to give you more than that. This is a novella and I don’t want to give too much away. This novella can easily be read as a stand alone, although if you have not read book 1 you might want to read it. Jack & Lacey are from book 1 Hidden.

REVIEW:
The death of five girls in a remote part of the Portland wilderness leaves the police & the forensic teams scratching there heads. There is no signs of trauma, no signs of them being forced, but there has to be fail play involved. How do six girls all dressed in white end up out in the woods dead or near death. As investigators converge on the sight one realized something very disturbing. He has seen this before, along time ago a very similar crime happened. And three of those deaths never were solved. Are these two crimes related? Is it the same killer? Is it a copycat? And will trying to find the link be too little too late to save the killer’s late

Is there anything scarier than the mind of a suspense author? I think not. Kendra Elliot’s Alone is a twisted mess of past, present and a possible uncertain future. While reading Alone you have a good idea of who the killer might be but Kendra throws some twists and turns in there to make you question whether you are right or wrong. I did enjoy this book, but I would liked the confrontation to be a little more involved. It was over a little too quick for me. But other than that I enjoyed this book. And I am looking forward to what Kendra has for us next.

REVIEW:
Mitch, Mitch, Mitch. I think it is safe to say that we have all come to love Alyssa’s smart ass brother Mitch. He has definitely keep things fun and exciting over the course of the Phoenix Rising series. In Shatter Mitch finally meets his match. Well re-meets. Halina is a woman from the past, a past that Mitch wished that he could forget but never will. While Halina may hold the answers to helping the team with their future, she also is the only one that can help Mitch let go of the past. But working together not only makes Mitch realize that he is not over this woman. He realized that he never will be. And that makes the choices that need to be made just that much more difficult.

I love the Phoenix Rising series. And Mitch’s book is just great. I love that Mitch is such a smart a$$. I loved that Halina gets the best of him a time or two. I mean really nothing says I love you like a gun in your face or getting your butt kicked by the girl you love right???
If you have enjoyed the first 4 books in the Phoenix Rising story you will love Mitch’s book!! If you have not started the series you really need to start with book one. This series follows a timeline and while you might be able to read Shatter. You would be a little lost with the references from the past.

Research for the Night Stalkers series

There are stories inside an author’s comfort zone and outside. There are stories that we could tell from the world we know. And then there are the stories we need to tell even though we don’t know the world. When that happens, when the author doesn’t have that direct knowledge, I think there are three real options open to them:

To “wave their hands.” I’ve read authors who can do this magnificently. Many of these writers land in the fantasy world. “I’m telling you a military story, but I’m setting it in an elfen realm so that I can work with the emotions, not the hard facts of reality.” These can be future set, alternate reality, or a myriad of other paths as well.
Down the middle. These authors will do sufficient research to make it sound real, but again, there is a certain amount of distraction of the reader with other events rather than going down into the details. This allows them to come at the story and worry less about the details of the world.
I always choose the third path, maximum realism. I do everything I can to make the background information as real and accurate as possible. In Take Over at Midnight there is a scene where they crash land on an oil rig. I spent days studying the different models located in the Gulf of Mexico, how their helipads were positioned, how high were they out of the water while actually working a site, and so on.

Setting out to write a story in this third style has more challenges than finding out the information; the Internet has solved many of those issues. Reading many books and doing the occasional personal interview plugs the holes. Granted, there is the challenge for a writer to not get lost in the research and forget that their job is actually to do the writing. I admit, I have occasionally looked up and realized I’ve lost a day or more, but that doesn’t happen very often, for it is the storytelling I love and not the research.

The real challenge of research for me? Figuring out when not to use it. I have ten times the detail that I put in the books. I’ve read Black Hawk service manuals that have allowed me to add a dozen paragraphs over four novels. I have also read a single article and watched two three-minute videos in order to install the pivotal ADAS camera technology in my earlier book, Wait Until Dark, the third Night Stalkers novel that alters the very course of the love story.

So, perhaps the oddest bit of research I do is studying just how much research I can do without and still make the story feel real.

REVIEW:
I liked this story but was not in love with it. This was an extremely intense story with a lot of sorrow and hurt. Maybe that is way I did not feel connected with the story. I thinking that if you are a fan of Pamela’s you will enjoy Javier & Laura’s story. This being my first Pamela Clare story I think it was just a little to intense for my mind frame at the time I read.
I do plan on giving Pamela’s I-Team series another shot.

KELLY’S REVIEW:
4.5 Hearts Matt Dean has always protected those he love. He stood up for his brothers when he was little. He fight to keep them safe from everything and everyone. But failing his youngest brother has been the hardest then he has ever had to go through. But he still has two brothers left that need him. The need him to complete his latest mission in order to save them all. But oh the wicked twists of fate are about to bring dear old Mattie to his knees.

Laney is a woman who knows that it is just a matter of time before he past catches up with her. A past that she doesn’t ever want to relive. But when a tall, dark and very dangerous man finds his way into her life, for just one moment she let’s her guard down. In that moment everything changes, and not all of the changes are for the better.

Loved this books. Loved Mattie & Laney. Loved that Emery…. well you will just have to read and find that out. This was a great second book in Rebecca’s Sins Brothers series. I am so looking forward to Nate’s book and uncovering all the dark secrets that this brother holds.
If you have not read book 1 Forgotten Sins, I would highly suggest that you do. While I think you could read Sweet Revenge and be okay. I really think that you need to know the Gray Brother’s history and to do that you need to read Forgotten Sins.

KIMBERLY’S REVIEW:
4.5 HEARTS So loved this book. I have read every Rebecca Zanetti and I fall in love with her heroes in each book and Matt was no different. There is something about this man. He has a sweetness that he doesn’t know he has and is the type that would die to protect his loved ones. Laney is different but for some reason I liked her. She is tough but so broken that you feel for her. They actually make a great couple.

You can never go wrong with a book from Zanetti. She pulls you into her world in a matter of moments whether it is her paranormal, cowboy romance or romantic suspense. She is a powerhouse that has come on the scene and I know she has a bunch of great books left to write. I can’t wait for her next book!
