When the chemistry is this combustible, lines tend to get crossed. And when Barrett and Harmony’s secret gets out, it just might be game over

REVIEW:
Another great Play by Play story from Ms. Burton!! We have got to know Barrett Cassidy over the last few book in this series. The whole Cassidy clan is great. But I will say that I always had a soft spot for Barrett. I was so happy that he got his story. Barrett is a tough talking, no nonsense defensive football player who is willing to do what it takes on the field for a win and willing to do anything family and friends. But in Unexpected Rush Barrett is going to realize that sometime the simplest thing you can to is speak the truth.
Harmony Evans is wonderful!!! I love her. She is the perfect match for a football player who doesn’t know that he is ready for a future. I loved the she put Barrett through the paces in this story.
I always love visiting this series. I love that Ms. Burton can take two things that I love romance & sports and write a story that always brings me to tears and laughter. I can’t wait to see what is next in this series, because Flynn and Drake both need stories. I am really looking forward to Drake’s story!!!!!

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
An exclusive new series from New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant!

I’m a warrior. My unbreakable determination, my backbone of steel define me. As a Reaper who does Death’s bidding, weakness is a word I don’t understand. Until a stunning librarian stirs emotions deep within me I’ve never felt before. Her soft curves blunt the sharp edges of my soul, crushing my defenses – yet make me stronger. But underneath those wide eyes and fierce femininity, she has a weapon, one she won’t hesitate to use. And when the Dark begin their deadly descent, we’ll need each other’s love and protection…or risk fracturing apart.

REVIEW:
Dark Alpha’s Embrace picks up where we left off in Dark Alpha’s Claim. With the Reapers fighting an old enemy and learning how to cope with changes that they never thought would happen.
I enjoyed this second installment in the Reaper’s series. I love all the Reapers. They are so serious, loyal and fun!! I really enjoyed the addition of River to this series. It should be interesting to see how she copes with all the changes coming her way.
The end of this story reinforce my hate of a certain Light Fae. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series. But I if I know Ms. Grant there will be much anxiety before the series is over.

AUTHOR: Nicholas Sparks
PUBLICATION DATE: October 13, 2015
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
See me just as I see you . . .

Colin Hancock is giving his second chance his best shot. With a history of violence and bad decisions behind him and the threat of prison dogging his every step, he’s determined to walk a straight line. To Colin, that means applying himself single-mindedly toward his teaching degree and avoiding everything that proved destructive in his earlier life. Reminding himself daily of his hard-earned lessons, the last thing he is looking for is a serious relationship.

Maria Sanchez, the hardworking daughter of Mexican immigrants, is the picture of conventional success. With a degree from Duke Law School and a job at a prestigious firm in Wilmington, she is a dark-haired beauty with a seemingly flawless professional track record. And yet Maria has a traumatic history of her own, one that compelled her to return to her hometown and left her questioning so much of what she once believed.

A chance encounter on a rain-swept road will alter the course of both Colin and Maria’s lives, challenging deeply held assumptions about each other and ultimately, themselves. As love unexpectedly takes hold between them, they dare to envision what a future together could possibly look like . . . until menacing reminders of events in Maria’s past begin to surface.

As a series of threatening incidents wreaks chaos in Maria’s life, Maria and Colin will be tested in increasingly terrifying ways. Will demons from their past destroy the tenuous relationship they’ve begun to build, or will their love protect them, even in the darkest hour?

Rich in emotion and fueled with suspense, SEE ME reminds us that love is sometimes forged in the crises that threaten to shatter us . . . and that those who see us for who we truly are may not always be the ones easiest to recognize.

REVIEW:
I enjoyed this book a lot. I almost always love a Nicholas Sparks book, and frequently find myself sobbing hysterically at the end. I will say, this book did not make me cry, nor did it pull particularly hard on my emotions. It was however intriguing. I enjoyed the suspense aspect and the mixed race couple – I am happy that Sparks is at least attempting to bring diversity into his characters. All supporting characters were fun and made the book hard to put down. If you’re a Sparks fan give it a go!

AUTHOR: Alexandra Ivy & Laura Wright
PUBLICATION DATE: August 11, 2015

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Get Wild in the Wildlands

From New York Times Bestsellers, Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright, the heat of the bayou is back with Rage/Killian in an all-new dual ‘tail’. Enter the Wildlands, where a new, volatile danger threatens the sizzling hot Pantera.

RAGE
Rage might be an aggressive Hunter by nature, but the gorgeous male has never had a problem charming the females. All except Lucie Gaudet. Of course, the lovely Geek is a born troublemaker, and it was no surprise to Rage when she was kicked out of the Wildlands.

But now the Pantera need a first-class hacker to stop the potential destruction of their people. And it’s up to Rage to convince Lucie to help. Can the two forget the past—and their sizzling attraction—to save the Pantera?

KILLIAN
Gorgeous, brutal, aggressive, and human, Killian O’Roarke wants only two things: to get rid of the Pantera DNA he’s been infected with, and get back to the field. But the decorated Army Ranger never bargained on meeting the woman—the female—of his dreams on his mission to the Wildlands.

Rosalie lost her mate to a human, and now the Hunter despises them all. In fact, she thinks they’re good for only one thing: barbeque. But this one she’s guarding is testing her beliefs. He is proud and kind, and also knows the pain of loss. But in a time of war between their species, isn’t any chance of love destined for destruction?

REVIEW:
3.5 Hearts I am not catch up on this series, but Rage & Killian’s story can easily be read as a stand alone novella. Yes, it might be a tad bit spoilery for some. I didn’t have an issue, but just a warning.
Both Rage & Killian’s stories are very fast paced novellas. A lot happens very quickly in each story. I really enjoyed Rage & Lucie and would love to know more about these two. I have a funny feeling Rage is going to have his hands full with her ;). Killian & Rosalie have both suffered so much in the past it is great to see two lost souls find happiness.
I really need to get on the horse and get catch up on this series.

But we finally get to see what makes him tick. And of course we have seen Julianna before too. After finishing Want Me I was wondering what would happen to her and if she was indeed a murderer.
I enjoyed this book and I am very much looking forward to reading Ethan’s story.

witches of cambridgeTITLE: The Witches Of Cambridge
CHARACTERS: Amandine, Noa and Others
AUTHOR: Menna van Praag
PUBLICATION DATE: 02/09/16
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
For fans of Alice Hoffman, Sarah Addison Allen, and Adriana Trigiani, “The Witches of Cambridge” reveals an astonishing world where the heart’s deepest secrets give way to the magic of life-changing love.
“Be careful what you wish for. If you’re a witch, you might just get it.”
Amandine Bisset has always had the power to feel the emotions of those around her. It s a secret she can share only with her friends all professors, all witches when they gather for the Cambridge University Society of Literature and Witchcraft. Amandine treasures these meetings but lately senses the ties among her colleagues beginning to unravel. If only she had her student Noa s power to hear the innermost thoughts of others, she might know how to patch things up. Unfortunately, Noa regards her gift as a curse. So when a seductive artist claims he can cure her, Noa jumps at the chance, no matter the cost.
Noa’s not the only witch in over her head. Mathematics professor Kat has a serious case of unrequited love but refuses to cast spells to win anyone s heart. Her sister, Cosima, is not above using magic to get what she wants, sprinkling pastries in her bakery with equal parts sugar and enchantment. But when Cosima sets her sights on Kat’s crush, she conjures up a dangerous love triangle.
As romance and longing swirl through every picturesque side street, the witches of Cambridge find their lives unexpectedly upended and changed in ways sometimes extraordinary, sometimes heartbreaking, but always enchanting.

REVIEW:
This is the first story by this author and I found it really hard to follow. She has an odd way of writing. It felt more like I was reading from a script. Yes I know it was third person, which I have read before even though it is not one of my favorite ways, but the sentences were clipped so it felt like direction instead of conversation.

The witches are normal for lack of a better term. They are everyday women who happen to have an extra sensory power but the problem was I never connected with any of them. I really just didn’t care. Maybe it was because of the writing style. Maybe I wanted some “bubble, bubble, toil and trouble” which I really didn’t get but I just found I wanted to get done with the book.

I can see how someone would enjoy this story. I really can. I am just not one of them. This is a great book that you can pick up when you have time and put down for a while and come back to and not feel like you have missed anything but that is not the kind of book I enjoy.

Review:
5!!!
Quickie: Epic!!!! Tears!!! Laughter!!! Always pay the trolls and what where you punch them….. oh and loved the Mulder reference!!!

Full Review:
It was so good to get back into the Iron Druid world!! I have been in love with this series since the very beginning. The combination of Kevin’s story telling and Luke Daniel’s talent and voice makes for some epic adventures. STAKED was another epic journey for Atticus, Granuaile and Owen.
**spoiler if you haven’t finished SHATTERED**
STAKED picks up where we left off in SHATTERED with Atticus trying to figure out a way to rid the world of vampires, Granuaile trying to find away to free herself and Owen well, just being Owen…
There was a lot that happened in this book. And I don’t want to get anything away with spoilers. So let’s just say that I will never be able to look or think of Trolls in the same way, not sure Owen will either. Granuaile comes into her own and kicks some serious butt. Atticus learns that sometimes you have to trust the wrong people to get the right answer. Oberon and Orlaith are fun as always!!

There is heartbreak in this story. Which I will tell you is really bad when you are driving and listening to the audio book and start crying.. So just be warned.

As always the wickedly talented Luke blows me away with his ability to bring Kevin’s characters to life.

I can’t wait to see what is next in this series and where Kevin will take Attiucs, Granuaile and Owen next. Oh and the hounds too!!!

She almost feels sorry for him. The devil in blue jeans. The disarming fry cook who lies with every breath he takes. She will get to the bottom of what he knows if it kills her. Or him. Either way.

REVIEW:
3.5 Hearts Oh man… You know when you pick up a book (or in this case listen to) you have the highest of expectations? Well that was me when I picked up The Dirt on Ninth Grave. I will let you know that I really love Charley!! I mean I really love her. But I was really torn on my love/non love of this book. At first I really enjoyed Charley’s memory lapse but as the story went on I got more and more flustered by this.
I truly loved listening to Charley seeing Reyes through new eyes. I also enjoyed Reyes being so patient and showing a totally different side of his love and devotion to Charley.
I will let you know that I felt the story was a little slow. But the last few chapters had me bawling like a baby (which made driving tough). But the ending. OMG!!!!! The ending of this story is everything you hope and dream for a Charley Davidson story.
I can’t wait to see what is next and how Ms. Jones is going to write herself out of the corner she just painted herself into.
As always Ms. King does an amazing job of bring Ms. Jones words to life. And making Reyes so very very yummy to listen too. 🙂 I am very happy that Ms. King has lent her voice and awesome talent to this series. Until next time Ms. King. Until next time!!

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
From the New York Times bestselling author of the Gabriel trilogy comes the hotly anticipated follow-up to The Raven, a sensual novel set in Florence featuring the dangerously intoxicating coupling of Raven and William…

But there is far more at stake than Raven’s heart…

A shadow has fallen over the city of Florence. Ispettor Batelli will not rest until he uncovers Raven’s connection to the theft of the priceless art from the Uffizi Gallery. And while the Prince hunts a traitor who sabotages him at every turn, he finds himself the target of the vampyres’ mortal enemy.

As he wages a war on two fronts, he will need to keep his love for Raven secret, or risk exposing his greatest weakness

REVIEW:
3.75 Hearts In this second installment of The Florentine series we get to see William and Raven’s relationship grow. When we left William and Raven at the end of The Raven it was unclear as to what the future would hold. In The Shadow we learn more about The Prince’s enemies. We also finally find out who the traitor is. And we get to see William become very vulnerable when it comes to the women he loves.
There is a lot that happens in this book, both good and bad. It was great to be back in the Prince’s world. I really enjoy the world the Mr. Reynard has created for us in Florence. I can’t wait to see what is next for William and Raven.

Favorite line: “On the contrary, I was rewarded with both. Now I must save her.”

SERIES #: Heart of the Wolf #18
CHARACTERS: Allan Rappaport & Debbie Renaud
AUTHOR: Terry Spears
PUBLICATION DATE: February 2, 2016
ORDER LINKS: Amazon  | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Debbie Renaud is a police diver working on criminal cases with SEAL Allan Rappaport. She admires him greatly for his missions in the Navy, plus he’s just plain HOT. Allan seems to share her attraction, but what she doesn’t know is that her partner is wolf shifter.

Allan is really hung up on his smart, beautiful dive partner, but he can’t get involved with a human outside dive duty. Yet when she gets between a werewolf hunter and his intended victim, one of the members of Allan’s pack, they run into real trouble, and their lives are altered forever.

KELLY’S REVIEW:
3 Hearts Another good story in Ms. Spears Heart of the Wolf series. While this was not my favorite in the series that I have read so far I did really enjoy it.
I really liked Allan and Debbie’s story. It was fun to watch them circle each other. While I liked Allan and Debbie I think my favorite part of this whole story was Rowdy. I love the homicide detective and hope that he will get a story soon. I am thinking he would be perfect for Tara.

KIMBERLY’S REVIEW:
3.5 Hearts While enjoyable this story just wasn’t one of my favorite wolf shifter stories. First it was a bit too wordy. So many things repeated, I never really felt the connection between Allan and Debbie, the suspense part was really obvious and it just didn’t have much on the romance side to me.

Allan is ok. He just doesn’t seem like the alpha (2nd alpha really) that he should have been. He is sweet. He deals with Debbie well really but just nothing screams “ALPHA WOLF” to me about him. Debbie is just blah. Honestly I never really found myself liking her. I mean I didn’t hate her but she was just there, if you know what I mean.

The story is interesting in the whole “who is killing werewolves” but nothing really much happens. I guess that is it. It was just a bit too boring for me. No heat, no real suspense, no nothing. Again it was an ok read and if you have read the series you should continue with this one. Maybe the next in the series will be better…. Could Rowdy be the lead? Now that would be an interesting idea.

SERIES #: Alex Delaware #31
CHARACTERS: Alex Delaware
AUTHOR: Jonathan Kellerman
PUBLICATION DATE: 02/02/16
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
In #1 New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Kellerman’s thrilling new blockbuster Alex Delaware and Milo Sturgis investigate the murder of a Hollywood actress pushed to the limits of sanity.

Psychologist sleuth Alex Delaware is surprised to get the call when well-known TV actress Zelda Chase turns up half-naked, half-mad in the LA’s rural Westside. He has little connection to the starlet, save a psychiatric evaluation he performed on her adopted daughter several years ago, a child who has since vanished without a trace and whom Zelda refuses to talk about. When the actress turns up dead a few weeks later without a scratch on her, Delaware calls in police lieutenant Milo Sturgis to help him crack the case—or at least the wall of silence surrounding it. When the body of a second actress turns up with the same mysterious cause of death, Delaware and Sturgis start to wonder—is this a copycat case or a coincidence? When they uncover the death of another actress, a star from another era who vanished decades ago, never to be found, they realize they’re facing one of the their most baffling, mind-bending cases yet.

REVIEW:
This is the latest in the Alex Delaware series. Actually number 31 to be exact. Delaware is a character that a reader will never tire of. He is a child psychologist and this time he is asked by a friend to look at a child of one of his friends clients. All seems fine until five years later when the child goes missing and the mother is murdered. Alex and his friend team up to find the missing child. As they move along in their search they find more deaths and more mystery.

I have always found this series to be very interesting. Alex is a compelling character that no matter how many times I read about him I find I enjoy him. The mystery is always well written as well. I usually have an idea of what happened but I am not always right which makes me enjoy it even more.

The one thing is the books are not action packed but more of a methodical mystery. And don’t worry about it being #31. You can start right in and still understand it just fine.
