BOOK SYNOPSIS:
He’ll do anything to protect her….

Former Marine and newest Red Stone Security employee Alexander Blue is still adjusting to the civilian world after a decade spent at war, but when he sees someone in danger, nothing can take away that intrinsic need to protect. After stopping a would-be mugger, Blue finds himself being bandaged up by a sensual local artist in her Key West condo. He never expected to stay the night, even if it is on her couch. The mysterious Mina gets under his skin in a way he never thought possible. When it becomes clear that her mugging wasn’t random and she’s being targeted by deadly men, Blue has no problem stepping into the role of protector.

But she doesn’t want to be saved

Tired of being coddled and treated like a child, Mina has tried to distance herself from her family. When danger finds her, she’s forced to turn to the sexy stranger who she feels a strong, unexpected connection with. In him she sees glimmers of herself; a little broken, withdrawn and wary of the world. Soon she learns that the biggest threat might not be from the men trying to kidnap her, but from the quiet warrior who poses an immediate risk to her heart.

Sinful Seduction appears in Sinful Seduction anthology

REVIEW:
4.5 Hearts This was my second time reading this book. Well I read the first time and then listened on audio. Here was my original thoughts after my first read.
I would say breaking up an attempted mugging is not the best way to meet a woman, but leave it up to Alexander Blue to do just that. Being in the right place at the right time not only let him save Mina from being mugged, kidnapped or worse, but also gave Blue a chance met a woman that just possible could be it for him. That is if she will let him get close.
Another great Red Stone Security story. My only issue is that I read this story so fast. I wanted more of Blue!! I just loved him and Mina! I hope to get a glimpse of them in a future Red Stone Security story.
If you are a fan of this series you will want to make sure to add this book to your must read list. If you are new to this series not worries this book can easily be read as a stand alone.

My opinion has not changed. I loved this book. I loved Blue even more. And Mina that girl has guts and a wicked right arm. Loved it!! I was very honored to get an audio copy of this book to review. Sophie Eastlake does a great job again in this series. I just love it when a narrator brings the characters to life.

Winter Romance Wednesday! Jennifer reviews Christmas At Twilight by Lori Wilde

christmas at twilightTITLE: Christmas at Twilight
SERIES #: Twilight, Texas #10
CHARACTERS: Brian Hutchinson, Meredith Sommers
AUTHOR: Lori Wilde
PUBLICATION DATE: 10/28/14
ORDER LINKS:Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS: It’s Christmas in Twilight, Texas. The Cookie Club is baking, the town is decorated, and Delta Force Operator “Hutch” Hutchinson has finally, reluctantly, returned home . . .

. . . only to get pepper sprayed by the delicious- looking stranger who’s taken over his house. She says her name is Jane, and she immediately sets down ground rules. Top priority: no touching. For Hutch that isn’t easy—he was wounded in action, but one part is still working very well.

Then Hutch learns the truth. Jane harbors a frightening secret—she’s really Meredith Sommers, on the run from a dangerous ex-husband and desperately in need of the safety Hutch can provide. In that moment, he vows he’d do anything in his power to protect her. And as Christmas approaches, they discover that their love can conquer the past and overcome any obstacle—but what price will they pay?

REVIEW:
4.5 Hearts I love Christmas romances and Lori Wilde definitely delivers with her new book, Christmas at Twilight. Brian “Hutch” Hutchinson has just returned to Twilight after a traumatic experience where he is physically and emotionally scarred and has temporarily lost the ability to speak. He is shocked to find that a young woman and her son are living in his home with his sister but before he has a chance to find answers, Meredith sprays him with pepper spray. Meredith is on the run from an abusive ex-husband and she mistakenly believes that Hutch is him when they first met. Once Meredith learns the truth, she and Hutch make an arraignment where she will continue living in the house and help with the care of Hutch’s niece until her mother returns from her spur of the moment getaway. Together they learn that love can help heal all wounds but Meredith’s past is coming back to haunt her and now they are all in jeopardy.

Hutch and Meredith’s story is one of my favorites in the Twilight series. They were two kindred spirits that both had a traumatic past, but still held on to hope. For Hutch, he went through unspeakable horrors during his time in the military and his experience over there almost brought him to the breaking point. By meeting Meredith, who was the one person who knew what it was like to battle demons of her own, it finally gave him a chance for a real future. Together, they could build the loving relationship that they needed and be the support system for one another during their dark times. I was impressed with Meredith considering everything that she had been through and she still was a wonderful, caring, human being. She stayed strong and resilient through it all and I loved her character just as much as I did Hutch’s.

Hutch and Meredith also just had this connection where after a while, they didn’t need words to communicate with another. You see this with couples that have been together a long time but Hutch and Meredith just seemed as though they always belonged with one another. To me, all their roads let them to each other and brought them into each other’s lives when they needed them the most.

Christmas at Twilight was a wonderful holiday romance that will pull at your heart strings and having you believing that love truly can conquer all. Lori Wilde is an amazingly talented writer and Christmas at Twilight is the perfect romance for this holiday season.

Love and Kitty.
Sounds like the beginning of a bad joke. But this is no joke just another day in the life of Kitty Katt-Martini saving the world.

I think if I could be one heroine I would choose to be Kitty. Not only is her husband smoking, her daughter beyond cute and she gets to hang out with my love Christopher, Kitty is a total kick ass person. And as always Ms. Koch gives us an amazing fun story filled with humor, sarcasm, action and Kitty and crew in kick ass mode.

In Alien vs Alien Kitty has to fight to clear her name while protecting her family and friends. I love reading about Jeff and Kitty’s love for each other. It reminded me so much of why I loved this series to begin with.

Oh and lest us not forget Chuckie!! Oh now we can’t forget something so important as Chuckie find love. YAY!!!! I am so glad that he is happy now and not pining after Kitty anymore.

I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Kimberly reviews Tears Of The Rose by Jeffe Kennedy

Tears Of The RoseTITLE: The Twelve Kingdoms: Tears Of The Rose
SERIES #: Twelve Kingdoms #2
CHARACTERS: Amelia & ???
AUTHOR: Jeffe Kennedy
PUBLICATION DATE: 11/25/14
ORDER LINKS:Amazon| B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Three sisters. Motherless daughters of the high king. The eldest is the warrior-woman heir; the middle child is shy and full of witchy intuition; and the youngest, Princess Amelia, she is as beautiful as the sun and just as generous.
Ami met her Prince Charming and went away to his castle on the stormy sea-cliffs—and that should have been her happily ever after. Instead, her husband lies dead and a war rages. Her middle sister has been taken into a demon land, turned into a stranger. The priests and her father are revealing secrets and telling lies. And a power is rising in Ami, too, a power she hardly recognizes, to wield her beauty as a weapon, and her charm as a tool to deceive…
Amelia has never had to be anything but good and sweet and kind and lovely. But the chess game for the Twelve Kingdoms has swept her up in it, and she must make a gambit of her own. Can the prettiest princess become a pawn—or a queen?

REVIEW:
So I had a hard time with this story. First I never warmed up to Amelia. When we met her in the first in the series she was superficial and spoiled and that did not change in this book. And while she does seem to change toward the end of the book a bit and she grows up for lack of a better word by then it was too late and I just didn’t care. I liked Hugh and maybe if he had been involved instead of dying in the first book then we could have enjoyed Amelia more but this way I just didn’t.

This story doesn’t have the feel of the first book which felt like a trip to Narnia, Hogwarts and other places rolled into one. This just felt lacking.

Now that being said I usually find I do not enjoy the second book in a trilogy. The first gives us the beginning with information into understanding what is happening and the third closes up the story so it is interesting in its own way but the second just seems less than and it is the same with this. I will most likely read the next in the series and hope that it is better.

REVIEW:
4.5 Hearts Wow! I was not expecting this book! You know how sometimes you’re just chugging along like any other day and then BAM! you get smacked in the face by the unexpected and you just can’t look away? Yep, that was this book! The very first page has you scratching your head and wondering what on earth is going on… You get the answers…oh do you get the answers – but the way it plays out is amazing! This book is about Zach finding out that he isn’t exactly human and that his existence threatens the entire planet and everyone on it. Zach meets Sam and Grigory who begin to unravel the crazy history leading up to Zach’s existence and all the while Zach’s best friend Kim is undergoing an extreme transformation and no one knows what’s going on or what’s going to happen! Whew, it was so intense! I’ll admit, I cried more than once. I really felt connected to these characters, I was learning right along with Zach. This book is not for the light of heart, it’s a dark story that definitely can highlight the very bad things in our universe; but its still a very good read and I’m very happy I had to the opportunity to find this author.

Kelly reviews Talking After Midnight by Dakota Cassidy

talking after midnightTITLE: Talking After Midnight

CHARACTERS: Taggart Hawthorn & Marybell Lyman
AUTHOR: Dakota Cassidy
NARRATOR: Scarlet Chase
RUN TIME: 8 hours & 20 minutes
PUBLICATION DATE: June 24, 2014
ORDER LINKS:Amazon| B&N | Audible

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Shields up, sugar—things in Plum Orchard are about to get real.

Marybell Lyman is notorious for two things:

Her look. The wicked hairstyle, multiple piercings and practiced sneer that say: “Stay back—I bite.”

Her voice. The syrupy lilt that’s her bread and butter at Call Girls, the prim little town’s flourishing phone-sex company.

Hunky handyman Taggart Hawthorn is mesmerized by the contradiction: such sweet tones inside such a spiky shell! He wants to know more about mysterious Marybell, to hear more of her sexy talk—all for himself.

But Tag’s attentions, delicious as they are, have Marybell panicked. She’s been hiding a long time. She’s finally got a home, a job and friends she adores. She won’t have it all snatched away by another stupid mistake—like falling in love. So when Marybell’s past comes calling, she and the Call Girls will prove no one handles scandals like a Southern girl!

REVIEW:
Another amazing story from Ms. Cassidy. With each Plum Orchard series I have falling more and more in love with these characters. I hope to all the Plum Wine Gods that there will be more stories in this series. There are a few more people I want to see matched up and a few I want to see wrestled into a huge pile of mud. So Ms. Cassidy PLEASE write more stories in this series. But back to Talking After Midnight.

OH my gosh. I am not sure if I was just an over sensitive wreck today but this book made me cry at least 3 times. Full on tears cry I tell you (thank goodness I was alone could you image if I was in public?) But Marybell & Tag are just perfect. I loved every part of their story. Even the parts where they are being stupid. Just loved it all.

Normally in a series you have a favorite and a least favorite couple. Not for me. I have love all three couple equally. I am not sure I could pick one over the other if I had to.

Ms. Chase as she has done so perfectly over this whole series brings the characters of Plum Orchard to life for me. I am so very glad that I started this series on audio. I will most definitely be looking for more books narrated by Ms. Chase in the future.

If you have not started the Plum Orchard series I would highly recommend you grab the novella Talk this Way. You really do have to start from the beginning!!! Now go get you a copy of this series and start reading and find out why Plum Orchard is so awesome.

Kelly reviews Something To Talk About by Dakota Cassidy

something to talk aboutTITLE: Something to Talk About
SERIES #: Plum Orchard #2
CHARACTERS: Jacks Hawthorne & Emmeline Amos
AUTHOR: Dakota Cassidy
NARRATOR: Scarlet Chase
RUN TIME: 9 Hours & 24 Minutes
AUDIO PUBLICATION DATE: October 21, 2014
ORDER LINKS:Amazon| B&N | Audible

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Sexy is as sexy does. And in Plum Orchard, sugar, it does!

Emmeline Amos is sick of her ex saying she’s boring and prissy. After all, she works for a phone-sex company! (As general manager, but still.) On a rare girls’ night out, fueled by blender drinks and bravado, Em accepts a shocking dare—to handle a call herself. But it’s tipsy Em who gets an earful from an irate single father on the other end of the line. Awkward.

But not as awkward as discovering that same mad dad is Call Girls’ gorgeous new programmer. Jax Hawthorne is still upset that his daughter called the “girlfriend store” on his behalf, but he can’t deny he’d choose a hot-librarian type like Em if he were looking for love. Which he’s not.

Em wants to do more than just talk the talk. So she makes a bawdy bargain with Jax. They’ve both been burned before—this time, they’ll keep it strictly physical. Except as soon as they settle on no strings attached, things start to get tangled.

REVIEW:
Oh my!!!!! To say that I love Emmeline Amos would be an understatement. When we first Emmeline in Talk Dirty to Me, she was shy, unsure, hating Dixie and not happy with her life. But even with that Em holds her head up high and tries to be the best person and mom as she can possible be. But in Something to Talk About Emmeline Amos finally finds out who she is and how far she is willing to go to protect those she loves. Oh and Em finds out a few little secrets that could possible turn her world upside down again.

Let’s talk Jacks. Mr. Jacks Hawthorne is beyond yummy. Jacks not only is an amazing dad to his beyond sweet little girl. He is fiercely protective of those around him. But Jacks has secrets too. And one of those secrets is back and stalking around Plum Orchard.
I loved this story. Love Emmeline and Jacks. Love Dixie and the ladies at Call-Girls. Loved! Loved! Loved! I will say that there was a few *gasp* moments and a few tears while reading this book. I can’t wait for the next book “Talking After Midnight”

Scarlet Chase does another AMAZING job of narrating this book. I just love love love her. She really brings the characters to life for me. I can’t wait for her to read Talking After Midnight to me. Great job again Ms. Chase.

Kimberly reviews Operation Family by Marissa Dobson

Operation FamilyTITLE: Operation Family
SERIES #: SEALed For You #3
CHARACTERS: Nicole & Mac
AUTHOR: Marissa Dobson
PUBLICATION DATE: November 18, 2014
ORDER LINKS:Amazon| B&N (coming soon)

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Navy SEAL Lieutenant Commander Mac García spent twenty years in the military but had no plans to retire. He didn’t know what his life would be like without the SEALs, and through the years he saw the worst in the world. He’d be damned if he’d see another attack on American soil. Arriving home, he’s faced with a whole different obstacle—twin toddlers. As the only family left to these little girls, he has to figure out what the next step in his life will be and how he’ll manage raising two children.

A knock at Nicole Ryan’s door delivers the news of a friend’s death, and now she’s alone to care for the twins until their guardian arrives. As their nanny since they were born, she can’t picture being separated from them, let alone seeing them head to the other side of the United States. She’ll fight for the right to keep the girls, because she doesn’t know how else to deal with the loss of their father, and she can’t bear losing them too.

Can two people from different walks of life come together to build a strong family for the twins? Or will destiny make them lose everything they hold dear?

REVIEW:
4..25 Hearts A SEAL with a heart of gold and the three females who claim it. That should be the tagline for this story. When we first meet Mac he melts your heart when he picks up the little runaway boy in the airport and you just know that he will end up being a great dad to the twins that he has yet to learn about. Mac is a caregiver. He has been put on this Earth to take care of the people he loves and soon that includes two little girls that he didn’t even know existed. Nicole has raised the twins since they were born even though she is the nanny and not blood. They have known no other “mom” than her and she is going to fight to keep “her” babies and I love her strength. When these two meet it is immediate and intense and meant to be.

Every woman should have a man in her life like Mac. He shows his love with every look and every touch. It’s hard not to fall for a SEAL like Mac. I read this book in 4 straight hours because I couldn’t put it down. I wanted to see what happened. I loved the mental picture of the girls sleeping on Mac’s hard chest. I loved Uncle Sam and Uncle Angelo too. I hope they get their own stories even though they are not SEALS.

This family was meant to be and I’m glad fate, no matter how tragic, brought them together. There are so many cute scenes that make the reader smile and some that make you wish for your own Navy SEAL.

Kimberly reviews Where There’s A Will by Stacy Gail

Where theres a WillTITLE: Where There’s A Will
CHARACTERS: Miranda and Coe
AUTHOR: Stacy Gail
PUBLICATION DATE: 11/17/14
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Miranda Brookhaven returned to Bitterthorn, Texas to fix the past. Years ago, her father used her teenage romance with Coe Rodas to steal the prototype for a groundbreaking new automotive invention. Now her father’s dead, and thanks to the convoluted will he left behind, she’s stuck in town until she rights the wrong that lost her the man she loved.
Coe learned early on that life never goes according to plan. His dreams of hitting it big vanished when Miranda all but invited her father to take the only thing of value he ever had. But now the once-pampered princess is holed up in a condemned trailer on the edge of town…and everything he thought he knew about her and about what happened between them back then seems completely wrong.
Miranda’s determined to give back to Coe all that he lost. If she can do that, maybe she can move on from the past. But Coe seems to be more interested in their rekindled passion than claiming what she thinks he deserves. She’s got sixty days to convince him to cough up evidence that he’s the original inventor after that, the only way to transfer the patent rights over to him would be to make him part of the family, and she’s not sure her heart can take another hit.

REVIEW:
3.75 Hearts I enjoyed this book but it did get wordy at some times. The relationship between Coe and Miranda is interesting and seemed to take a long time to work out but then I realized it didn’t really. It was more that there were a lot of words to get them there. I know that sounds weird but it is true.

So Miranda and Coe both have different stories about how their past went and while neither is really wrong neither is really right either. But this story is not about their past as much as about how they deal with their futures and how they need to learn to live beyond what the past handed them. And I think the author did a good job of getting that across. Sometimes the scenes were so real and true that you can feel the hurt. When Miranda explains about Coe getting rid of the tattoo of her name it is so sad and you can imagine the feelings she has.

So while I enjoyed this story and it is only about 150 pages it is not a quick read. But that being said it is worth the read.

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
One sip of passion leaves them thirsty for more…Tastes of Seduction, Book 3. Declan Muirfield never planned to return to the hotel where he broke a woman’s heart and destroyed his prospects for a happy ever after. Until he finds himself strapped in Noah Martin’s passenger seat, being driven—against his better judgment—back to the scene of his crime. Noah’s spent too many years watching while Declan’s lived the life he’s expected to lead rather than following his heart and living the life he wants. Now Noah’s had enough. It’s time for Declan to confront his past so he can embrace his future—with Noah, as it was meant to be. And if that future should include a beguiling woman with honey-gold hair, all the better. Under the guise of a working weekend, Noah has invited Violet Harper to join them at the luxury vineyard hotel. Perhaps now the unspoken connection between Violet, Declan and himself can finally develop into something tangible. Almost immediately, sparks flare out of control, and clothes come flying off in a hot whirlwind of desire. But convincing Declan and Violet that the three of them belong together may prove to be the hardest task Noah has ever undertaken. Warning: A bottle of white? A bottle of red? Perhaps a bottle of bubbly instead? Ah, hell, just bring’em all. We all know good things come in threes.

REVIEW:
This is a great story that involves a three person committed relationship. I really loved Declan and Noah. Their friendship is strong, even though Declan can be extremely hard headed. However, you understand why Declan is the way he is. He feels deeply and really takes into account his impact on others. Noah is waaaay too patient for Declan, but the perfect partner for him. Then comes Violet – the perfect third party to this relationship. They all mesh extremely well from the get go and completely allow you to believe that their love for one another is all encompassing and necessary. I loved this story and the intimate interactions between the characters. The story was believable and heartfelt. Though this book is a part of a series it can definitely be read as a stand-alone. Jess Dee found a new fan in me.

Nothing But TroubleTITLE: Nothing But Trouble
CHARACTERS: Frankie & Wes
AUTHOR: JL Hammer
PUBLICATION DATE: 11/17/14
ORDER LINKS: Amazon| B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
She’s the kind of trouble he can’t resist …
With an angry loan shark hot on her heels, Frankie Delenski flees a Vegas gentlemen’s club with one thought in mind: hide before she’s nothing more than a chalk outline. Now on the run…she finds herself stranded in a sleepy Colorado town during a storm. Her only salvation becomes the suspicious and gorgeous deputy sheriff determined to arrest her…

From the get-go, Wes Malone must restrain his lust for this stunning, unpredictable woman in a sequined bra and rely on his instincts as a cop. As he sifts through the haze of lies, the truth about her predicament is like a sucker punch to the gut. She’s in serious danger and getting involved with her means nothing but sweet, irresistible trouble…

REVIEW:
3.5 Hearts Ever have one of those days? Well Frankie is having one of those months. She got herself into a little trouble and somehow the whole thing snowballed from there. But the good part? She met Wes.

They are an interesting set of people and while I enjoyed them the characters seemed to change during the story. Wes was kind of short tempered and not mean exactly but rough around the edges but by the end of the story he had a great sense of humor and a lot of protectiveness around Frankie. Frankie is snide and quick witted and someone you want to be friends with as long as you are not around her when all hell is breaking loose.

This is an interesting story with a lot of action. It does get a bit wordy at some points but still keeps your attention. The background characters are interesting as well. Would I recommend it? Sure why not. Probably won’t be your favorite book in the world but you will still enjoy the adventure.
