In a blink of an eye, I can be anywhere. Or that’s what people tend to think, when they think of me, Death. I’m not exactly what people expect. Then again, neither are a lot of things. As of late, certain things have me thinking of where I’d go if I could just go to relax… escape, if you will. Though it would be nice to share the adventure with someone. Although I’m loath to admit it, I’m a tad sentimental with it being February and Valentine’s Day just around the corner. Everywhere I turn there are hearts, flowers, chocolate and “romance”. Its enough to make singles want to gag. If Death did that sort of thing.
Which I do not.
With my escape in mind, I began to put together a list of a few of the most romantic locations around the world. I might not be able to “get away”, but you mortals can. Get ready to be wowed!
JUKKASJÄRVI, SWEDEN
Constructed afresh each winter, the IceHotel is just as much an art project as it is somewhere to spend the night. Situated in Swedish Lapland, 200km north of the Arctic Circle, this is more than just an unusual place to stay (and snuggle up); it’s also an amazing spot from which to see one of the most astounding natural phenomena – the Northern Lights.

VENICE, ITALY

Swimming in balmy seas at dusk, chatting over great local food and drinking under the stars – it’s the simplest pleasures that are the best here.
PATAGONIA, ARGENTINA
The romance of adventure is evident in travelling through Patagonia; this immense area is both legendary and extreme, from the breathtaking natural wonder of the craggy Glacier Perito Moreno, to the savagely beautiful peaks of the Fitz Roy massif. Marvel at whales, penguins and elephant seals, and feel as though you’re travelling to the edge of the world.
