REVIEW:
4.25 Hearts Can I just say “It is Alexandra Ivy” and you will know it is a great book? Well you should. This is the 18th in the Darkness series. And as great as ever.
This time around we get Locke and Kyi’s story. Locke lost his mate a century ago when he believed his mate was killed but he learns what you know isn’t always fact. Xuria is still alive and Kyi is determined she will kill her this time around no matter what.
I really enjoyed Locke and Kyi and loved the suspense part of everything. I felt bad for both of them and hated Xuria but knowing I felt that connection makes the book even better for me.
You can never go wrong with Alexandra Ivy. She is really one of the best out there in Paranormal romance. Heck in any kind of romance since she does have other non-paranormal series.
All the books in the series can be read as a stand alone but I have no idea why the reader wouldn’t want the binge the whole Darkness series.

Pushed to her limits but unwilling to abandon her home, Leigh struggles to find answers. But each step forces her towards something more terrifying than she ever imagined.
A poisonous shadow seeps from the locked door beneath the stairs. The handle rattles through the night and fingernails scratch at the wood. Her home harbours dangerous secrets, and now that Leigh is trapped within its walls, she fears she may never escape.
Do you think you’re safe?
You’re wrong.
REVIEW:
Ummm, what? As a fan of paranormal shows (Travel channel fan) I was excited about this book. I thought “Ok. Cool. An old fashioned ghost story.” But I was wrong.
First the “ghost” does nothing of any major excitement in this book. So it would be scary to see doorknobs turning, things moving and even hearing “Hello” from a non-physical being but come on. I found no real scare to this book.
I had it figured out from pretty much the start.

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Sandu Berdardi continues to exist only to protect his people. An ancient Carpathian, his entire long life has been dedicated to honor above all else. He knows his time has passed, especially since he has not been able to find his lifemate — the anchor to keep him sane in a world he no longer understands. But just as he truly starts to give up hope, a voice reaches out to him in the night and his world explodes into color.
Adalasia enters Sandu’s mind seamlessly, as if she has been a part of him forever. While she can see the shape of things to come in her deck of cards, her gift is both a blessing and a curse. The true course of Sandu’s quest remains unclear, with danger waiting at every turn. She cannot see everything the future holds, but she does know it is a journey they will take together.
REVIEW:
4.75 Hearts This is the 31st… YES! 31st! In the Dark series (part of the Carpathian series) and how this author keeps the books fresh and entertaining and wanting to read the next one as soon as the reader is done with this one is a mystery.
This story is filled with action, romance, sacrifice and travel. The story takes place in countless states in America and many countries around the world. Sandu has been in a few recent novels and I am so glad that we finally got his story. And Adalasia is perfect for him.
Feehan delivers the best in the series in a while and that is saying something. Feehan never disappoints.
While I would say that yes you can read this story as a stand alone (sorta) but I really recommend that you read the entire series so you understand the Carpathian dynamic.

A gripping and addictive debut with a shocking twist that will send shivers down your spine!
REVIEW:
The good thing about this story is it is short. The story is one we have all heard a million times. Any fan of mystery/suspense has read this. Heck, there are at least a dozen scary movies I can think of off the top of my head with the same idea… give or take.
Because it was short and a quick read I continued to read the story. It’s a good simple book to get you into the Halloween spirit.

TITLE: The Book Of Magic
SERIES #: Practical Magic #2
CHARACTERS: The Owens Family
AUTHOR: Alice Hoffman
PUBLICATION DATE: 01/01/21
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Master storyteller Alice Hoffman brings us the conclusion of the Practical Magic series in a spellbinding and enchanting final Owens novel brimming with lyric beauty and vivid characters.
The Owens family has been cursed in matters of love for over three-hundred years but all of that is about to change. The novel begins in a library, the best place for a story to be conjured, when beloved aunt Jet Owens hears the deathwatch beetle and knows she has only seven days to live. Jet is not the only one in danger—the curse is already at work.
A frantic attempt to save a young man’s life spurs three generations of the Owens women, and one long-lost brother, to use their unusual gifts to break the curse as they travel from Paris to London to the English countryside where their ancestor Maria Owens first practiced the Unnamed Art. The younger generation discovers secrets that have been hidden from them in matters of both magic and love by Sally, their fiercely protective mother. As Kylie Owens uncovers the truth about who she is and what her own dark powers are, her aunt Franny comes to understand that she is ready to sacrifice everything for her family, and Sally Owens realizes that she is willing to give up everything for love.
The Book of Magic is a breathtaking conclusion that celebrates mothers and daughters, sisters and brothers, and anyone who has ever been in love.
REVIEW:
This is the second in the series but this is actually book #4.
Magic Lessons 0.1
The Rules Of Magic 0.2
Practical Magic 1.0
The Book Of Magic 2.0
The book starts with a recap of the Owens family history. There is more than the movie can portray.
Sally hasn’t told her daughters about the family history of witches. But she needs to tell them now since Kylie has fallen in love AND has heard the beetle’s omen. Kylie travels around the world to figure out how to break the curse that Maria Owen placed.
I really hope we get a follow up movie to the original with Bullock and Kidman. The movie is a staple for me in October and I can imagine the actresses reprising their roles to bring the next book by Alice Hoffman to life.

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
All her life, Annie has played it nice and safe. After being unceremoniously dumped by her longtime boyfriend, Annie seeks a fresh start. She accepts a teaching position that moves her from Manhattan to a small village upstate. She’s stunned by how perfect and picturesque the town is. The people are all friendly and warm. Her new apartment is dreamy too, minus the oddly persistent spider infestation.
Then Annie meets Sophie. Beautiful, charming, magnetic Sophie, who takes a special interest in Annie, who wants to be her friend. More importantly, she wants Annie to stop apologizing and start living for herself. That’s how Sophie lives. Annie can’t help but gravitate toward the self-possessed Sophie, wanting to spend more and more time with her, despite the fact that the rest of the townsfolk seem…a little afraid of her. And like, okay. There are some things. Sophie’s appearance is uncanny and ageless, her mansion in the middle of the woods feels a little unearthly, and she does seem to wield a certain power…but she couldn’t be…could she?
REVIEW:
3.75 Hearts I am not sure exactly what genre this fits into. Sometimes I thought it was YA and others more women’s lit. But either way it was an adorable story.
It was hard for me not to imagine “Beauty and The Beast” as I read this story. Not because there was a beast but more that the place Annie comes to is magical. But what is also magical is the way that Annie blooms once she gets to know Sophie.
I found this book just adorable. And a joy to read.

REVIEW:
Review featured at www.books-n-kisses.com
3.75 Hearts I have no idea what genre this is. It is not exactly paranormal, women’s fiction or suspense. But it is really interesting.
Red Valley is ruled by The King and The Liar. When Sadie becomes The Liar she has many secrets she must learn and keep. There are actually three main characters, The King, The Liar and The River.
I will be honest, this book is so WEIRD! And yet it is interesting. I am really not sure how I felt about it. Everytime I thought “This is getting too odd to finish” something happened that kept me reading. The world that Walter Goodwater has written of is a world of dreams and nightmares.
I do believe there is a genre to this book but I have no idea what it is. But if you are already a fan of this unknown genre you will love this book! And that sentence makes as much sense as the book itself.

TITLE: The Orphan Witch
CHARACTERS: Persephone May
AUTHOR: Paige Crutcher
PUBLICATION DATE: 09/28/21
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
A deeper magic. A stronger curse. A family lost…and found.
Persephone May has been alone her entire life. Abandoned as an infant and dragged through the foster care system, she wants nothing more than to belong somewhere. To someone. However, Persephone is as strange as she is lonely. Unexplainable things happen when she’s around—changes in weather, inanimate objects taking flight—and those who seek to bring her into their family quickly cast her out. To cope, she never gets attached, never makes friends. And she certainly never dates. Working odd jobs and always keeping her suitcases half-packed, Persephone is used to moving around, leaving one town for another when curiosity over her eccentric behavior inevitably draws unwanted attention.
After an accidental and very public display of power, Persephone knows it’s time to move on once again. It’s lucky, then, when she receives an email from the one friend she’s managed to keep, inviting her to the elusive Wile Isle. The timing couldn’t be more perfect. However, upon arrival, Persephone quickly discovers that Wile is no ordinary island. In fact, it just might hold the very things she’s been searching for her entire life.
Answers. Family. Home.
And some things she did not want. Like 100-year-old curses and an even older family feud. With the clock running out, love might be the magic that saves them all.
REVIEW:
3.75 Hearts I really enjoyed this book. Persephone is so easy to like and care for. She has always been the odd ball out. Nothing seemed like where she should be. Foster homes and group homes seem like a stop over because soon she will need to leave once the weird stuff starts happening again. When Persephone moves to NC she learns much about herself and her history.
There is so much in this book. Curses, feuds, different dimensions, and the Library Of The Lost. Paige Crutcher did a great job with what I believe is her first novel. I enjoyed the background characters and Wile Isle. I imagine Persephone is the type of witch every little girl believes she is when she dresses up for Halloween and thinks “What if I were really a witch?”.
I really hope there is more to this novel and it becomes a series.

TITLE: Rogue Wolf
SERIES #: SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team #12
CHARACTERS: Samantha & Trey
AUTHOR: Paige Tyler
PUBLICATION DATE: 08/31/21
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
There’s been a wicked attraction between SWAT werewolf Trey Duncan and medical examiner Samantha Mills since the two met, but Trey’s never worked up the nerve to ask her out. So when Samantha says she wants to cash in the favor Trey owes her for a date, it seems like the perfect time to confess his true feelings. But the trouble with wolves is that they’re never far from danger, and this time Trey is going up against a monster the likes of which his Dallas SWAT team has never seen… This time it’s going to take everything Trey and Samantha have to crack the case and protect each other.
REVIEW:
It seems that Tyler has found the groove again. This is the 12th in the series and with all the books Tyler has written in the genre I felt it was getting a bit stale but Tyler has really gotten back into the swing of her writing.
Trey and Samantha have had feelings for each other for a while and finally get the chance to admit their feelings but man does this book go at high speeds stopping everything but the twist and turns. I am not sure there isn’t a little bit of everything in this book. It is a great book to get your head out of real life.
I enjoyed Trey and Samantha together. I enjoyed seeing the past characters and look forward to reading more in the series.

TITLE: Dawn Unearthed
SERIES #: Ravenwood Coven #1
CHARACTERS: Sage & Rome
AUTHOR: Carrie Ann Ryan
PUBLICATION DATE: 08/19/21
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
NYT Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan begins a new witchy paranormal series where a magical town keeps its secrets, but those in it must find a way to keep themselves safe.
The moment Sage Reed makes her way to Ravenwood, she knows the small town lives up to its mystical lore—even if she doesn’t believe that she’s a witch. After losing her husband, she’s ready for change, and her aunt’s bookstore affords the perfect opportunity.
Rome Baker has secrets of his own—even some that he’s kept from the town he calls home. But when a striking and intriguing stranger saves his life the moment she steps into his path, his inner bear knows that she’s the one for him. However, with the town under fire, he worries he might run out of time before he can show her what they can have together.
A new enemy is on the horizon, one who hides in the shadows, whose history is steeped in lies. And if Sage and Rome aren’t careful, Sage’s new powers won’t be the only thing that spirals into flame.
REVIEW:
I agree with everyone who started out their reviews with “Finally! Carrie Ann has written a paranormal again” because it’s about time. I became a fan of Carrie Ann early in her writing and I have watched her grow into the writer that brought this story to life.
Sage is an incredible character. Sometimes I wanted to hug her, sometimes I wanted to talk to her and sometimes I wanted to be her. As she learned her history and became the witch she was meant to be I cheered for her. Rome is the perfect mate for her. But I felt every feeling she had as she discovered what fans of paranormal only wish they could actually experience.
I am so excited to read more of this series.

Every mortal who works at network headquarters knows that vampires reside below them. They were the first to surrender to the powerful Immortal Guardians who hunt them. And they did so, hoping they can be saved, that the doctors and scientists the Immortal Guardians employ can halt the progressive brain damage that robs all vampires of their sanity. Though curious, Emma never thought she would meet any of the vampires who remain under heavy guard several stories beneath her office. Then mercenaries strike, bombarding the building with heavy artillery. The vampires are freed to join the fray… and Cliff saves her life.
From that moment on, she can’t stop thinking about him regardless of the restrictions placed on interactions with vampires. When Emma discovers a way to speak to Cliff at network headquarters, she becomes even more fascinated by him. He’s smart, charming, and honorable to his core despite the darkness that lies ahead. And he seems to crave her company as much as she does his. Aware of the eyes that watch them, they keep their encounters innocent, limiting them to those of mere acquaintances. Nevertheless, their attraction grows and she soon falls in love with him even as the madness begins to claim him. Cliff realizes his future is dark.
As one vampire friend after another succumbs to insanity, hope that network doctors will be able to find a cure in time to keep him from meeting the same fate begins to dwindle, leaving him little to look forward to… until he meets Emma. Just speaking to her brings him a happiness and contentment he hasn’t experienced since before his transformation. And when they finally find a way to be alone together, everything changes. Emma burrows her way right into his heart and quiets the voices. She sparks dreams of a future with her that strengthen his determination to beat back the madness. But as time passes, the voices grow louder and insanity begins to chip away at him until he fears it will eradicate every part of him she fell in love with.
Will the two of them find a way to defy the odds and find their happily-ever-after? Or will Cliff’s descent consume him?
