AUTHOR: Molly Harper
NARRATORS: Amanda Ronconi & Jonathan Davis
RUN TIME: 6 hours & 33 minutes
PUBLICATION DATE: January 23, 2018

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Anthropologist Jillian Ramsay’s career has taken a turn south.

Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they’re preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations. Mermaids and gator shifters swim in the bayou. Spirit bottles light the front porches after twilight. Dragons light the fires under crayfish pots.
Jillian’s first assignment for the League could be her last. Mystic Bayou is wary of outsiders, and she has difficulty getting locals to talk to her. And she can’t get the gruff town sheriff, Bael Boone, off of her back or out of her mind. Bael is the finest male specimen she’s seen in a long time, even though he might not be human. Soon their flirtation is hotter than a dragon’s breath, which Bael just might turn out to be….

REVIEW:
How to Date your Dragon is the first book in a new series by Molly Harper. They Mystic Bayou takes us to a small town in Louisiana. A small town that has huge secrets and not fond of outsiders.

I really enjoyed Jillian and Bael’s romance. It was great fun to watch the uppity sheriff try and fail to not fall for the beautiful outsider that could ruin everything in there tiny little town. It was fun to watch Jillian learn all about Mystic Bayou and its secrets.
I really enjoyed this story. Molly does a wonderful job (as always) building us a world of magic and paranormals. And of course this book had classic Molly Harper snark that will make you laugh out loud when you are alone in the car (so be prepared to get some funny looks)

I had the pleasure of listening to it on audio. I am not a huge fan of double narrators in my audio books. Mostly because I don’t like the the crossover of when the male and female have to do the same voices and they are off. I understand that some people really love it. But I am not one of them. It won’t stop me from listening to this series in the future, but it won’t be my favorite.

I am very excited for the next installment in this series!! Bring on the very cuddly and sweet Mayor of Mystic Bayou!!!!

Kelly reviews Ain’t She A Peach by Molly Harper

peachTITLE: Ain’t She a Peach
SERIES #: Southern Eclectic #2
CHARACTERS: Frankie McCready & Eric Linden
AUTHOR: Molly Harper
NARRATOR: Amanda Ronconi
RUN TIME: 6 Hours & 51 Mintues
PUBLICATION DATE: June 12, 2018
ORDER LINKS: Audible | Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
An Atlanta ex-cop comes to sleepy Lake Sackett, Georgia, seeking peace and quiet—but he hasn’t bargained on falling for Frankie, the cutest coroner he’s ever met.
Frankie McCready talks to dead people. Not like a ghost whisperer or anything—but it seems rude to embalm them and not at least say hello.
Fortunately, at the McCready Family Funeral Home & Bait Shop, Frankie’s eccentricities fit right in. Lake Sackett’s embalmer and county coroner, Frankie’s goth styling and passion for nerd culture mean she’s not your typical Southern girl, but the McCreadys are hardly your typical Southern family. Led by Great-Aunt Tootie, the gambling, boozing, dog-collecting matriarch of the family, everyone looks out for one another—which usually means getting up in everyone else’s business.
Maybe that’s why Frankie is so fascinated by new sheriff Eric Linden…a recent transplant from Atlanta, he sees a homicide in every hunting accident or boat crash, which seems a little paranoid for this sleepy tourist town. What’s he so worried about? And what kind of cop can get a job with the Atlanta PD but can’t stand to look at a dead body?
Frankie has other questions that need answering first—namely, who’s behind the recent break-in attempts at the funeral home, and how can she stop them? This one really does seem like a job for the sheriff—and as Frankie and Eric do their best Scooby-Doo impressions to catch their man, they get closer to spilling some secrets they thought were buried forever.

REVIEW:
4.5 Hearts Let the games begin!!
Frankie McCready is determined to win this battle of wits against her nemesis Lake Sackett’s resident teenage creep Jared! Yes, I said it Frankie is going to war against a teenager. With the help of the smexy, surly sheriff Frankie will get her man and prove that Jared is guilty all at the same time!!!!

Eric Linden had hoped coming to a small town would be the perfect place for him to lay low and enjoy the quiet life. Neither of those thing will happen if the super adorable coroner keeps asking him for help.

But what is a guy suppose to do when the girl he is crushing on asks for his help?

I loved this book. It was a lot of fun to watch Frankie run around like a crazy person trying to catch Jared in his tricks while trying to not fall for Sheriff Linden. As always Molly insuses her story with wit, snark and a little creative laugh! I love reading/listening to Molly’s books they always make me laugh out loud (I should remember that next time I am in the airport).

Again the amazing Amanda Ronconi lends her talented voice to bring Molly’s characters and world to life. You just can’t go wrong with this pairing!!!

Can’t wait to see what is next for the McCready family!!! I am hoping that Duffy will finally get a HEA and dump his crazy ex for good!!!

CHARACTERS: Frankie McCready & Eric Linden
AUTHOR: Molly Harper
NARRATOR: Amanda Ronconi
RUN TIME: 2 Hours & 19 Minutes
PUBLICATION DATE: April 9, 2018
ORDER LINKS: Audible | Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
A prank war erupts in Lake Sackett, Georgia and coroner Frankie McCready has to turn to the gorgeous but surly new sheriff for help in Molly Harper’s newest Southern Eclectic novella, perfect for fans of Kristan Higgins and Amy E. Reichert.
The McCready Family Funeral Home and Bait Shop has crickets running rampant in the store and hot sauce in the Snack Shack’s ketchup bottles. But as the county coroner, Frankie has enough on her plate without worrying about the increasingly mean pranks being played at her family’s business. And the arrival of Sheriff Eric Linden, both devastatingly attractive and painfully taciturn, is enough to push her over the edge.
Linden, who didn’t seem to get the memo about men in uniform and Southern charm, is condescending and cold, revealing absolutely nothing about his past as an Atlanta police officer, while also making Frankie’s job as coroner as difficult as possible. And with the town’s Fourth of July celebration coming up, it’s essential for McCready’s to be cricket-free and in good working order. Strangling the sheriff will make her job even harder. Can Frankie hold off the threats to preserve her own sanity?
With her trademark “clever humor, snark, silliness, and endearing protagonists” (Booklist), Molly Harper invites fans to return to the family they first met in Sweet Tea and Sympathy. Y’all sit down and stay a while, won’t you?

REVIEW:
Peachy Flippin’ Keen is a quick read that gives us a small glimpse into the life of Frankie McCready. Lake Sackett’s resident coroner and the McCready’s resident weird kid.

This was a fun quick read narrated by the wonderful Amanda Ronconi.

I love how well these two (Molly & Amanda) work together to bring together such great story!! I can’t wait to see what is next not only for Frankie but for the whole McCready family!

Kelly reviews Sweet Tea And Sympathy by Molly Harper

sweet tea and sympathyTITLE: Sweet Tea & Sympathy
SERIES #: Southern Electric #1
CHARACTERS: Margot Cary & Kyle Archer
AUTHOR: Molly Harper
NARRATOR: Amanda Ronconi
RUN TIME: 9 Hours & 27 Minutes
PUBLICATION DATE: November 21, 2017
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Beloved author Molly Harper launches a brand-new contemporary romance series, Southern Eclectic, with this story of a big-city party planner who finds true love in a small Georgia town.

Nestled on the shore of Lake Sackett, Georgia is the McCready Family Funeral Home and Bait Shop. (What, you have a problem with one-stop shopping?) Two McCready brothers started two separate businesses in the same building back in 1928, and now it’s become one big family affair. And true to form in small Southern towns, family business becomes everybody’s business.

Margot Cary has spent her life immersed in everything Lake Sackett is not. As an elite event planner, Margot’s rubbed elbows with the cream of Chicago society, and made elegance and glamour her business. She’s riding high until one event goes tragically, spectacularly wrong. Now she’s blackballed by the gala set and in dire need of a fresh start—and apparently the McCreadys are in need of an event planner with a tarnished reputation.

As Margot finds her footing in a town where everybody knows not only your name, but what you had for dinner last Saturday night and what you’ll wear to church on Sunday morning, she grudgingly has to admit that there are some things Lake Sackett does better than Chicago—including the dating prospects. Elementary school principal Kyle Archer is a fellow fish-out-of-water who volunteers to show Margot the picture-postcard side of Southern living. The two of them hit it off, but not everybody is happy to see an outsider snapping up one of the town’s most eligible gentleman. Will Margot reel in her handsome fish, or will she have to release her latest catch?

REVIEW:
Sweet Tea & Sympathy is the first book in Molly Harper’s new Southern Eclectic series (check out Save a Truck, Ride a Redneck prequel novella). In Sweet Tea & Sympathy we get to meet the long lost McCready family member after an unfortunate event involving some flamingos, shrimps and they death of Margot’s career. Just when Margot thinks she is at her lowest point Aunt Tootie finds her and convinces her to move to Lake Sackett and work for the family.

Another wonderful story from Molly Harper.

The amazing Amanda Ronconi lent her talent and voice to another of Mrs. Harper’s novels. Amanda does a great job of bringing the McCready family alive. I always love having Amanda read me one of Molly’s stories! I am already looking forward to the next installment in this series.

REVIEW:
4.25 There is so much to this story that it is hard to figure out where to begin. Margot goes through a humiliating experience and decides to move to work in the family business but small town living is not easy to do.

This is women’s fiction at it’s best. The characters are beautifully developed and makes you wish you could get to know them in real life. The town is delightful as well. Some place you wish you could go to spend a long weekend.

This story is a journey of self discovery and understanding. I can’t imagine any woman would not enjoy this novel. What a great read!

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Molly Harper brings her signature “clever humor, snark, silliness, and endearing protagonists” (Booklist) to the charming small town of Lake Sackett, Georgia with the new Southern Eclectic series.
Carl and Marianne were highschool sweethearts, loving the way only teenagers can—with no thought to logic or pride, just a bone-headed, optimistic frenzy of unicorns and hormones. That was all they needed. Or so Carl thought.
Scared of being stuck in Lake Sackett, Georgia, like so many of her friends—without a real shot at a future or achieving her own dreams—Marianne panicked and bolted to college after stomping Carl’s heart into the high grass. But when she returns to Lake Sackett for the summer with her family after years away, she and Carl are drawn together like moths to a flame. As they rekindle their old romance and remember what it was like to be in love, they have to wonder: is this, finally, their real chance at happiness?
Perfect for fans of Kristan Higgins and Amy E. Reichert, this warm hearted and witty love story introduces Molly Harper’s new Southern Eclectic series set in the small town of Lake Sackett, Georgia. This story about second chances proves that “Molly Harper never lets the reader down with her delightfully entertaining stories. Humor, emotions, and romance are cleverly matched, and her likable characters are most appealing” (SingleTitles).

REVIEW:
4.75 Hearts Below is my review of Save a Truck, Ride a Redneck. So this is my review of the audio book version.
If you follow my blog (or reviews) at all you will know that I am a huge fan of Amanda Ronconi and she doesn’t disappoint in this story! Even though I already read the novella having Amanda read it to me felt like I was reading it again for the first time. It is amazing how a talented narrator can bring a story to life more than I can in my own mind!!!

Save a Truck, Ride a Redneck is the pre-quel to Molly Harper’s new series and I couldn’t be more excited!! I mean a family that has a bait shop/funeral home (yes, you read that right!!!) has to be fun right?? The McCready family has been in the Bait/Funeral business (oh that sounds bad!! They don’t use the bodies as bait I promise) for generations!! I am super excited to see what is in store for this family.
Save a Truck, Ride a Redneck is a second chance love story for Marianne & Carl. I won’t give to much away (because you need to read) but I will say that I enjoyed the journey that Marianne & Carl’s story! Carl is very sweet and forgiving (although I do hope that he gives Marianne a hard time every now and a gain 😉 ).
I am loving Marianne’s family and can’t wait to see who a story. I can’t wait for the next installment Sweet Tea & Sympathy (November 2017)!! Also can’t wait to get the audio version of this story! The amazingly talented Amanda Ronconi is lending her voice to this series also!!! Watch for audio review to come soon.

SERIES #: Half-Moon Hollow #6
CHARACTERS: Ben & Megan
AUTHOR: Molly Harper
NARRATOR: Amanda Ronconi
PUBLICATION DATE: July 24, 2017
ORDER LINKS: Audible | Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
In Molly Harper’s newest paranormal romantic comedy, Ben, Gigi’s old boyfriend, must find a way to save his new love after a freak Ultimate Frisbee accident. But will she want to live after she finds out how Ben had to save her?

In this exciting addition to Molly Harper’s beloved Half-Moon Hollow series, the focus is on Gigi’s ex-boyfriend Ben. When his new girlfriend is killed in a freak Ultimate Frisbee accident, he’s determined to save her, no matter the cost, even if it means bringing her into the darkness of vampire life!

REVIEW:
Take one part Molly Harper novel and one part Amanda Ronconi narration and you get perfection!!!

Accidental Sire picks up shortly after the big party on campus (from the Big Vamp on Campus novella). Sweet Ben who we gotten to know and love over the course of the series is falling for one of Ophelia’s human friend Megan (shocking I know!! Ophelia has friends). But a freak Ultimate Frisbee accident leaves Megan making a tough choice of either dying or becoming a vampire.
Fast forward 24 hours and we have Vampire Megan. But something is not quite right! Megan should not be awake yet which is why one very human Ben was visiting her when she woke up. Ben’s visit is going swell until Megan accidently bites Ben.
There is something very different about Megan & Ben. The adventure that these two are on is one filled with lots of ups and downs!! It was great to see all the gang again!!
Of course Ms. Ronconi’s narration is a thing of beauty!! I love that she can take Molly’s words and bring them to life! These two mesh together so well it makes me often wonder if Molly is in the recording studio with Amanda giving her thumbs up and eye rolls!!

Always love Molly’s stories and have had Amanda narrate each and every one them! I can’t wait for the next adventure!

Audiobook Lovin’ Presnets: Viviana’s interview with Molly Harper & Amanda Ronconi

2017 Audio Book Lovin Banner UPDATED

Books-n-Kisses is please to share with you Viviana, Enchantress of Books interview with author Molly Harper and narrator Amanda Ronconi.

When Molly Harper was eight years old, she set up a “writing office” in her parents’ living room, complete with an old manual typewriter and a toy phone. And she (very slowly) pecked out the story of her third-grade class taking a trip around the world and losing a kid in each city. She had a dark sense of humor even then.

When Molly was considerably older, she headed for Western Kentucky University, where she majored in print journalism. After graduation, she landed a job with The Paducah Sun and married her high school sweetheart, David, a local police officer. After six years at the newspaper, Molly took a more family-friendly secretarial position at a local church office.

Her husband worked nights and Molly was alone with their small child in the “The Apartment of Lost Souls.” A big fan of vampire movies and TV shows, she decided to write a vampire romance novel. Molly created Jane Jameson, a bit of an accidental loser. Jane is single, almost 30, and a librarian working in Half-Moon Hollow, Ky. She has become a permanent fixture on her Mama’s prayer list. And despite the fact that she’s pretty good at her job, she just got canned so her boss could replace her with someone who occasionally starts workplace fires. Jane drowns her sorrows at the local faux nostalgia-themed sports bar. On her way home, she’s mistaken for a deer and shot by a drunk hunter. And then she wakes up as a vampire. The three-book Jane Jameson series–which includes Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs,Nice Girls Don’t Date Dead Men and Nice Girls Don’t Live Forever—was released in 2009.  A fourth and final installment, Nice Girls Don’t Bite Their Neighbors, was released in 2012.

Molly continues stories in the Jane Jameson universe through her Half-Moon Hollow series,Driving Mr. Dead, The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires, Undead Sublet, and A Witch’s Handbook of Kisses and Curses.  Undead Sublet is a short story in The Undead in My Bed anthology.  A Witch’s Handbook of Kisses and Curses will be released in June 2013.  A special free audio holiday novella, I’m Dreaming of an Undead Christmas, was released in December 2013.

Molly will update her popular Naked Werewolf romance series in 2013. How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf, was released in February 2011, quickly followed by The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf. A third installment, How to Run With a Naked Werewolf, will be released in December 2013.  Her first-ever “haunted house story,” Better Homes and Hauntings, will be released in June 2014.

Molly will launch her first-ever contemporary romance series with My Bluegrass Baby in December 2012.  Rhythm and Bluegrass was released in October 2013.

Molly’s books are published by Pocket Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. They are available in print, as e-books and audio books at major book stores and on Amazon. Molly is a native of Kentucky. She lives in Paducah with her husband and children.

AUTHOR: Molly Harper
NARRATOR: Amanda Ronconi
RUN TIME: 7 Hours & 14 Minutes
PUBLICATION DATE: July 26, 2016
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | Audible | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Delivering a rare book to a valued customer is definitely part of mild-mannered archivist Anna Winthrop’s job description. You know what isn’t? Protecting her precious cargo from mid-flight theft by the very pilot who is flying her to Half-Moon Hollow…while trying to appear as unappetizing as possible to the only other passenger, a vampire. Undead bookstore owner Jane Jameson could be waiting a very long time for her book. Possibly forever.

Fortunately, Anna’s dashing fanged companion Finn Palmeroy helps her fend off the attack, but not before their plane crash lands in the forest hundreds of miles from civilization. Great, now she’s stranded with a priceless tome and a rakish vampire whose bedtime is fast approaching. Why does everyone want this book so badly, anyway? Anna just wants to get it to Jane before Finn decides to turn her into dinner-or sweep her off her feet. Okay, the second option is really tempting. But they’re not out of the woods yet.

REVIEW:
4.5 Hearts As always I am blown away by Ms. Harper’s ability to write a story that makes me fall in love with her writing, her characters and the world she has created all over again.
Where The Wild Things Bite we get to meet up Finn Palmeroy again. If you may have recalled in The Single Undead Moms Club I wanted badly to stab Finn with a fork. I disliked him greatly. But in WTWTB Finn redeems himself….. Kinda. I mean I guess he does. Or does he? Anna is great. I love her knowledge of so many random facts about surviving in the wilderness. She is one tough cookie and she puts up with Finn. I hope that we will see more of Anna & Finn in future stories. I can’t wait to see what/who is next in Half-Moon Hollow.
As always I let the amazingly talented Amanda Ronconi read this story to me. I absolutely love Amanda ability to bringing Molly’s characters to life for me. And it is always fun when you are in the car and you are laughing so hard that the people next to you look at you like your are crazy. I look forward to our next audio meeting Ms. Ronconi!!!

YAY!!!!!! Finally we get to see what makes Ophelia tick. And let me tell you it is very scary and involves duct tape.
I don’t want to give you too much. But this short Half-Moon Hollow story follows the on and only Ophelia and Jamie to college. There is a lot of growing up, human interaction, parties, tears and yes duct tape.
It just amazes me that everytime I pick up one of Molly’s books I fall more in love with her writing, the worlds she creates and her characters. I am always left wanting more. MORE, I tell you!!!
And of course I had to have the uber talented Amanda Ronconi read this book to me (just as she has all the other books). I love that Amanda has lent her amazing talent to Molly’s books. Again, Amanda did an amazing job narrating.

I so can’t wait for the next installment in this series.
