*This novella was originally published in the New York Times bestselling anthology, Unraveled, and now contains 50% new content*
REVIEW:
OK so this book was just ok for me. I am not big on MMA but sometimes enjoy the stories and since I have liked this author I thought I would try it but now I realize not only am I not much into MMA but I really am not a fan when the fighter is the woman.
Apparently this was part of a anthology which was added to and released last year. Maybe it is having the next part come out so they re-released it with more content. The story is only about 90 pages and some seemed to go on way too long with the same lines about “we shouldn’t do this but I can’t help it” and then the ending rushed through the last chapter.
Just not my cup of tea.

TITLE: When Darkness Ends
SERIES #: Guardians Of Eternity #12
CHARACTERS: Cyn & Fallon
AUTHOR: Alexandra Ivy
PUBLICATION DATE: 05/26/15
ORDER LINKS:Amazon | B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
The Guardians of Eternity are facing a final battle to save their world—but battles of the heart may be the most difficult to fight…
Cyn, the vampire clan chief of Ireland, is an unabashed hedonist whose beauty is surpassed only by his insatiable appetite for pleasure. It’s no wonder he’s furious when he’s transported from the magical land of the pureblooded feys to his desolate private lair—only to have his very existence thrown into a chaos that even he cannot charm his way out of…
Most women may be all but powerless against Cyn, but Fallon, a sharp-witted fairy princess, is less than beguiled by the silver-tongued vampire. She’s a serious soul with no time for the sort of games he plays—especially when they learn that someone is trying to close the veil that separates the dimensions. But seduction may prove the most powerful force of all, as attraction ignites between the unlikely pair even as worlds are colliding around them…
REVIEW:
My understanding is this is the last in the Guardians of Eternity series and I am sorry to see the series end. And yet it is a nice ending to a great series. Cyn and Fallon have a connection that is enjoyable and fun to read. Every book has the world in jeopardy and this one is no different… that part I won’t miss. But the world that Ivy has created I will miss greatly.
Cyn and Fallon are just really enjoyable. I loved the connection they had right away. They are forced together but there is no a lot of bickering, clashing, etc. They just connect and work together really well.
If you enjoy paranormal they you will enjoy this book and the series. In all honesty if you enjoy paranormal you should have known this series for the last few years and like me couldn’t wait to see how the series ends. Now that being said if you are new to the series you can read this as a stand alone but I don’t know why you would want to. There is a lot of backstory from book one to this book so I suggest reading them all. You will not be disappointed.
Looking forward to the new series Ivy has planned.

TITLE: Just One Taste
SERIES #: Pine Mountain #4.5
CHARACTERS: Jesse & Kat
AUTHOR: Kimberly Kincaid
PUBLICATION DATE: 01/01/15
ORDER LINKS: Amazon| B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
A little home improvement can go a long way…
Jesse Oliver was a medic in Afghanistan, but back home in Pine Mountain he’s happy to switch gears as the Double Shot bar’s new sous chef. When his apartment floods and his old Army buddy offers the family’s dilapidated lake house as temporary quarters, Jesse thinks a little remodeling on the creaky duplex sounds like a fair return favor. That’s before he sets eyes on the gorgeous woman moving into the other side of the cabin—and discovers she’s his buddy’s kid sister, a.k.a totally off limits.
Kat McMarrin has fought hard for her space, and she’s not too interested in sharing it. Of course, her job as a physical therapist means she won’t see much of Jesse, even if he’s a few thin floorboards away—unless she seeks him out. And with his sculpted body and slow-burn gaze, she might be tempted. Maybe the fixer-upper projects she has planned for the cabin will keep her mind off him. Or maybe her instincts to strip the place down will get out of hand…
REVIEW:
3.75 Hearts This is a sweet novella of about 100 pages. It is part of the Pine Mountain series but can easily be read as a stand alone. Kat is a loner. She has never had a real home being an Army brat so having her space is important to her. Jesse never felt worthy of anyone’s love and when he sees Kat as much as he wants her doesn’t feel he measures up.
They have a very sweet connection. Something draws them to each other and while it is a quick read the story is fully formed. We understand the connection as a reader and do not feel rushed into the romance. I enjoyed the story a lot. I am glad they did not have a full story. To be honest these pages were the perfect fit for them. Sometimes I wish novellas would have been longer and sometimes I wonder how a novella could have gone on so dang long. But this one was a perfect quick read. And I look forward to the next in the series.

TITLE: Sea Glass Sunrise
SERIES #: The Brides Of Blueberry Cove #1
CHARACTERS: Hannah & Calder
AUTHOR: Donna Kauffman
PUBLICATION DATE: 05/26/15
ORDER LINKS:Amazon| B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
In seaside Blueberry Cove, Maine, friends are just another word for family, and big-city politics take a backseat to local pride. But the real treasure on these shores is always love…
When D.C. lawyer Hannah McCrae heads home for her brother’s wedding, she’s dragging a lot of baggage along with her—and she doesn’t mean suitcases. Betrayed personally, and humiliated professionally, the last thing she wants is a new man. That’s fine with square-jawed, rugged contractor Calder Blue. He and Hannah may be wildly attracted to one another, but all he wants is to build the town’s hotly contested new yacht club and mend a centuries-old family feud. Yet thanks to resentments old and new, day after day the pair wind up tangled in each other’s business—and maybe soon in each other’s arms.
Every bride needs something “blue”…
Includes a delicious wedding cake recipe!
REVIEW:
I loved reading the new trilogy of Blueberry Cove. We met the Bachelors in the last trilogy and now we meet the Brides. Hannah is from the cove and home for her brothers wedding who we met in the last series. And Calder comes for work and family. And together they light up the cove with fireworks.
I enjoyed Hannah a lot. She is funny and quick witted. She has a lot going on in her life or should I say is running from a lot in her life hoping to start fresh at home. But while she has a lot going on she still manages to have a smile on her face and be there for her sisters. Speaking of sisters… hers are a hoot that I can’t wait to read their stories. Hannah is tough though and you can tell she would be a fierce lawyer.
Calder is sweet. That is really the word for him. He doesn’t have that alpha feel. Yes he can take control of the situation and isn’t afraid to step where others fear to tread but he doesn’t have that alpha-ness about him that so many are writing about now. He is just a guy who wants to figure out what is going on and why he was brought to the cove.
There is some suspense in it but that is not what the story is about. And the love they find is fun and fast and yet feels like they have known each other forever. A very enjoyable beach read.

TITLE: The Forgotten Room
SERIES #: Jeremy Logan #3
CHARACTERS: Jeremy Logan
AUTHOR: Lincoln Child
PUBLICATION DATE: 05/12/15
ORDER LINKS:Amazon| B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
New York Times bestseller Lincoln Child returns with a riveting new thriller featuring the charismatic and quirky Professor Jeremy Logan (The Third Gate, Deep Storm), renowned investigator of the strange and the inexplicable, as he uncovers a long-lost secret experiment only rumored to have existed.
Jeremy Logan is an “enigmalogist”—an investigator who specializes in analyzing phenomena that have no obvious explanation. In this newest novel Logan finds himself on the storied coastline of Newport, Rhode Island, where he has been retained by Lux, one of the oldest and most respected think tanks in America. Just days earlier, a series of frightening events took place in the sprawling seaside mansion that houses the organization. One of its most distinguished doctors began acting erratically—violently attacking an assistant in the mansion’s opulent library and, moments later, killing himself in a truly shocking fashion. Terrified by the incident and the bizarre evidence left behind, the group hires Logan to investigate—discreetly—what drove this erudite man to madness.
His work leads him to an unexpected find. In a long-dormant wing of the estate, Logan uncovers an ingeniously hidden secret room, concealed and apparently untouched for decades. The room is a time capsule, filled with eerie and obscure scientific equipment that points to a top secret project long thought destroyed, known only as “Project S.” Ultimately, the truth of what Project S was . . . and what has happened in that room . . . will put Logan in the path of a completely unexpected danger.
One of his most thrilling novels to date, The Forgotten Room is replete with veiled, fascinating history, and all the exhilarating action and science that are the hallmarks of a Lincoln Child blockbuster.
REVIEW:
I am a big fan of Lincoln Child both his solo work and his collaborations with Douglas Preston so I looked really forward to reading this book in the Jeremy Logan series and I was not disappointed. This story has an old time feel. It is set in an old mansion with darkness and mystery surrounding it.
This book has a little bit of everything. Mystery, creepy old house, villians and the women they villainize and even a hurricane. You do not need to read the rest of the books in the series but I highly recommend Child’s books so why not start and the beginning and end with this great read.
This is a very fast read that has you wanting to turn the page all night long.

AUTHOR: Stacey Kennedy
PUBLICATION DATE: May 19, 2015
ORDER LINKS:Amazon | B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
In Stacey Kennedy’s steamy paranormal romance novel, a rookie guardian sworn to combat the undead risks life and love in a world of violence, witchcraft, and seduction.
Nexi Jones has lost her family, she’s been stripped of her guardian duties, and she’s still learning the ins and outs of white magic. At least she has Kyden, the smoldering hot elite guardian who’s been there for her every step of the way. But just as Nexi completes her training, tragedy strikes the Otherworld when a fellow guardian is murdered by a group of rogue vampires. Ready or not, she and Kyden trek into the Earthworld to hunt down a killer—and Nexi alone will be put to the ultimate test.
Although Kyden knows that Nexi must fight her own battles, his guardian instincts are raging as he struggles to keep her close. The ruthlessness of these vampires is like nothing he’s ever seen. And at their helm is the Black Witch Astoria, a demon with one burning desire: to shed Nexi’s blood in the name of vengeance. What troubles Kyden even more, though, is the warlock who covets Nexi’s heart. Let the devil do his worst . . . all Kyden can do is love and protect Nexi until his last breath.
NATASHA’S REVIEW:
4.5 Hearts I accidentally started reading this book before realizing it was book 2 in the series. However, the author planned for idiots like me and offered a GREAT prologue that gave you a nice understanding of how things went down in the first book Werewolves Be Damned. I gotta say, I fell in love with Nexi and Kyden right away. I was a huge fan of the Cat & Bones series that recently ended. I think Stacey Kennedy wrote this series at the perfect time for those of us who were desperately searching for another kick ass couple who constantly kept each other on their toes and had each other’s back. Not to mention, this series has an awesome cast of supporting characters that I’m hoping could turn into novellas or spin-off series. All in all this is a strong fantasy novel with so many different levels of complexity. This author has created a self-sustaining world that can hold whatever her mind imagines. I love the series and am looking forward to much more from Kennedy.
KIMBERLY’S REVIEW:
3 Hearts OK I gave this 3 stars (right down the middle) because it was a DNF for me but by no fault of the book. I picked up the book because I like Stacey Kennedy and didn’t realize this was a second in the series. So I started to read it and realized I was missing a VERY big part of the story. This is an ongoing story and since I have not read book 1 I just couldn’t understand what was going on. Luckily I was not too far into it before I realized and went to GoodReads to look at the first in the series. When I saw that they were the same characters I just stopped right then and there. I intend to pick up the first and read it but I have no many books in my TBR pile that I just can’t pick it up right now. When I do read it I will add more about the story to this review.

TITLE: A Highlander’s Passion
SERIES #: Highlander’s Beloved #2
CHARACTERS: Kenzie & Bryce
AUTHOR: Vonnie Davis
PUBLICATION DATE: 04/07/15

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
As a bear-shifter in a pack roaming the Scottish countryside, Bryce Matheson embodies brute force and untamed abandon. As a widower, he’s running scared. When Bryce attempted to open his scarred heart to another, she grew tired of waiting for him to state his intentions, and the unearthly beauty spurned him for someone who wasn’t worthy. But now that fate has conspired to set Kenzie Denune free once again, Bryce vows to finally win her love.
Kenzie is a witch who summons her powers to protect those too weak to care for themselves. After surviving an abusive husband, she swears off men—even men like Bryce, whose iron muscles make her knees weak, and whose piercing eyes fill her with longing. Her life’s purpose is to help others. However, dark forces have different plans for her gifts. To save herself, Kenzie must team up with the shifter who has always stirred her soul—and trust in a passion powerful enough to set her blood aflame.
REVIEW:
4.25 Hearts I so enjoyed this book and love this series. The first in the series was one of my favorite books so I didn’t expect this one to meet up and well it didn’t but it was dang close. There was a bit more humor in the first one but plenty in this one too. Bryce and Kenzie had a relationship in the first one that we knew would end up putting them together. There was really no denying the couple would be the focus of book 2 and rightfully so.
Again Effie is the best. She is a hoot as the saying goes. She makes me smile when I read the words written for her. Colleen is a sweetie too. Her language was a bit too grown up in this story but that was ok too. She is vivacious and adorable. Kenzie well she has been through so much and yet is a strong woman. She still has a sense of humor and still stands up for herself. My heart broke for her sometimes and yet was proud of her at other times. And finally Bryce. Well again he was not as great as Creighton from book 1 but still he has something about him that draws you in.
I can not wait until the next in the series. The only problem? I am not sure if I want the story to be about Ronan or Kendric. Kendric needs his own story even though he is only a cousin and while Ronan is next on the list of brothers for some reason I want his story so badly that I also hope I have to wait so I can enjoy the rest of the series. Nuts huh?

TITLE: Memory Man
SERIES #: Amos Decker #1
CHARACTERS: Amos Decker
AUTHOR: David Baldacci
PUBLICATION DATE: 04/21/15
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Amos Decker’s life changed forever–twice.
The first time was on the gridiron. A big, towering athlete, he was the only person from his hometown of Burlington ever to go pro. But his career ended before it had a chance to begin. On his very first play, a violent helmet-to-helmet collision knocked him off the field for good, and left him with an improbable side effect–he can never forget anything.
The second time was at home nearly two decades later. Now a police detective, Decker returned from a stakeout one evening and entered a nightmare–his wife, young daughter, and brother-in-law had been murdered.
His family destroyed, their killer’s identity as mysterious as the motive behind the crime, and unable to forget a single detail from that horrible night, Decker finds his world collapsing around him. He leaves the police force, loses his home, and winds up on the street, taking piecemeal jobs as a private investigator when he can.
But over a year later, a man turns himself in to the police and confesses to the murders. At the same time a horrific event nearly brings Burlington to its knees, and Decker is called back in to help with this investigation. Decker also seizes his chance to learn what really happened to his family that night. To uncover the stunning truth, he must use his remarkable gifts and confront the burdens that go along with them. He must endure the memories he would much rather forget. And he may have to make the ultimate sacrifice.
MEMORY MAN will stay with you long after the turn of the final page.
REVIEW:
In the last few years we have heard about the condition that Decker has a lot. I am sure you heard of the people like Marilu Henner who can remember everything that has ever happened to them. There was even a tv show called Unforgettable that wrapped around the same idea of a cop who can walk into a crime scene and remember every moment and every scene. Well this is on the same concept.
Decker is an interesting character. He is not perfect. Really actually far from it. His gift is really a hard thing for him to live with since his family and friend were murdered. But he is a likeable (sorta) guy. If nothing he is interesting and you want to know more about him.
Baldacci has always had an different way of writing. He pulls you in from page one and this story is no different. I have heard that this story is a stand alone but then I also heard it is the first in the series so to be honest I am not sure but I know that if Baldacci decides to bring Decker back I will be picking up the book.

TITLE: Vampires Never Cry Wolf
SERIES #: Dead In The City #3
CHARACTERS: Sadie & Killian
AUTHOR: Sara Humphreys
PUBLICATION DATE: 03/03/15
ORDER LINKS:Amazon| B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Sadie Pemberton is the DJ at the hottest vampire club in New York City, and she loves her freedom almost as much as she hates werewolves. She has no desire to tie herself to anyone for eternity—even the deliciously sexy Killian Bane—werewolf prince and heir apparent who has been sent to patrol the city.
But Sadie bears the mark of the moon—the mark that Killian has been looking for, the mark that’s meant to reveal his perfect mate. How can the fates be so cruel? Even more importantly, how is he ever going to change her mind?
REVIEW:
3.25 Hearts Ok So I am not sure why I keep reading this series since to me each book is just ok to good. Not great. Not terrible but just ok. And this is no different BUT something keeps bringing me back to these books and I request them again.
Sadie is just trying to run her club for the vampires and humans in the area and really has a dislike for werewolves but Killian keeps coming to the club and she doesn’t know why but soon finds out his is going to be opening his own club. Sadie is of course ticked and while the vampire/wolf treaty may be important to their kind her own livelihood is important to Sadie and she is not going to take this lying down.
Killian is alpha for sure but in a polite kind of way. He is not out to rule the world. I enjoyed him very much and found I was rooting for him to get his way.
If you enjoy the paranormal genre of vampire/shifters you will enjoy this. There is more in the romance than the paranormal really but still an ok read. Ok a good read.

TITLE: Hold Me
SERIES #: Fool’s Gold #16
CHARACTERS: Kipling Gilmore & Destiny Mills
AUTHOR: Susan Mallery
PUBLICATION DATE: 04/28/15
ORDER LINKS: Amazon| B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery’s classic blend of lighthearted humor and intense emotional conflict works its magic on two newcomers to the California town of Fool’s Gold, which Library Journal calls “a setting so real and appealing readers will want to start scoping out real estate.”
Destiny Mills believes passion has its place—like in the lyrics of the country songs that made her parents famous. After a childhood full of drama and heartache, she wants a life that’s calm. Safe. Everything that Kipling Gilmore isn’t. Her temporary assignment with the Fool’s Gold search and rescue team puts her in delicious proximity to the former world-class skier every day. Part of her aches to let go for once…the rest is terrified what’ll happen if she does.
Though an accident ended his career, Kipling still lives for thrills—and a hot fling with a gorgeous redhead like Destiny would be a welcome diversion. Yet beneath his new co-worker’s cool facade is a woman who needs more than he’s ever given. With her, he’s ready to take the risk. But love, like skiing, is all about trust—and before you soar, you have to be willing to fall.
KELLY’S REVIEW:
4 Hearts As always my trip to Fool’s Gold is meet with a roller coaster of emotions. Highs, lows , happy, sad, unsure and really wanting to throw some plates. But Ms. Mallery has a way of bring together all those emotions into a great story that will leave you wanting to keep turning the page when you reach the end.
In Hold Me we get to learn a lot more about the man behind G-Force. Kipling is way more than just Shelby’s brother. Way more than just an Olympic Skier who had a terrible accident. Kipling is pretty much everything you are looking for in a man, partner or friend. His only flaw? He likes to fix things. Mostly people’s problems, and unfortunately this can lead to people thinking that he sees them only as a project.
Destiny Mills is new in town. She is only here to get the new search and rescue program up and running then she is out. But fate has a much much much different plan for Destiny. Not only is she now the guardian of a half sister she knew nothing about. But the man that will change everything in her life just walked into her office.
Again, this was a great book. I have loved every visit I have made to Fool’s Gold. I can’t wait to go back.
KIMBERLY’S REVIEW:
4 Hearts Another wonderful visit to Fool’s Gold. The town that Susan Mallery has made up and yet so many of her readers want to live.
I will say that as much as I enjoyed this visit back to my favorite fictional vacation spot this was not one of my favorite books in the series. But considering it is the 16th in the series and I still gave it 4 stars I think that is saying something. It is a wonderful book. But sadly after reading all 16 of the books this was just not the greatest. Again that being said it is well worth the read.
It might have been that neither Kipling nor Destiny is from the town. Off hand I can not remember if there has been another outsider couple that have come to town to fall in love. Seems to be someone is always an insider but not this time. There was a lot of the same sentences to help us understand the backstories of both characters so that might have been it too. I enjoyed the cameos of the past couples (which I always appreciate) as well. This couple just did not do it for me like the couples of Fool’s Gold usually do.
Now all that being said I LOVE the Fool’s Gold series and REALLY LIKED this story. If I had read it as a stand alone it might be one of my favorite but comparing it (fairly or unfairly) to the rest of the series it just doesn’t stand the test. I will be picking up the next in the series and can’t wait for my next visit to the town of my (and many readers) dreams.

SERIES #: Thunder Point #7
CHARACTERS: Grace & Troy
AUTHOR: Robyn Carr
PUBLICATION DATE: 01/01/15

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Grace Dillon was a champion figure skater until she moved to Thunder Point to escape the ruthless world of fame and competition. And though she’s proud of the quiet, self-sufficient life she’s created running a successful flower shop, she knows something is missing. Her life could use a little excitement.
In a community where there are few eligible singles, high school teacher Troy Headly appoints himself Grace’s fun coach. When he suggests a little companionship with no strings attached, Grace is eager to take him up on his offer, and the two enjoy…getting to know each other.
But things get complicated when Grace’s past catches up with her, and she knows that’s not what Troy signed up for. Faced with losing her, Troy realizes Grace is more than just a friend with benefits. He’s determined to help her fight for the life she always wished for but never believed she could have—and maybe they can find real love along the way.
REVIEW:
Thunder Point is one of my favorite (book) vacation spots. I love the visits to the coastal town and I really enjoyed this visit. Grace and Troy are a great combination. I enjoyed catching up with couples from book past as well.
Grace is a quiet character and for me was a little hard to like in the beginning but eventually I did and I was glad about that because Grace is a joy. Troy is the exact opposite of Grace but that is why they connect. And connect they do
OK now there are some things that were a little difficult to read. Parts were not an easy read as they say. Some were just sad and some aggravating but that being said it was a good read. I don’t want to have any spoilers but you need to be ready for some things that can be a touchy subject.
Carr is one of the best contemporary romance writers in my opinion so pick up this series. You will not be disappointed.

TITLE: Say My Name
SERIES #: Stark International Trilogy #1
CHARACTERS: Sylvia & Jackson
AUTHOR: J. Kenner
PUBLICATION DATE: 04/07/15
ORDER LINKS:Amazon| B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
New York Times bestselling author J. Kenner kicks off a smoking hot, emotionally compelling new trilogy that returns to the world of her beloved Stark novels: Release Me, Claim Me, and Complete Me. Say My Name features Jackson Steele, a strong-willed man who goes after what he wants, and Sylvia Brooks, a disciplined woman who’s hard to get—and exactly who Jackson needs.
I never let anyone get too close—but he’s the only man who’s ever made me feel alive.
Meeting Jackson Steele was a shock to my senses. Confident and commanding, he could take charge of any room . . . or any woman. And Jackson wanted me. The mere sight of him took my breath away, and his touch made me break all my rules.
Our bond was immediate, our passion untamed. I wanted to surrender completely to his kiss, but I couldn’t risk his knowing the truth about my past. Yet Jackson carried secrets too, and in our desire we found our escape, pushing our boundaries as far as they could go.
Learning to trust is never easy. In my mind, I knew I should run. But in my heart, I never felt a fire this strong—and it could either save me or scorch me forever.
Say My Name is intended for mature audiences.
REVIEW:
First let me say that I enjoy the books by J. Kenner… mostly. For some reason I just never seemed to enjoy the Stark books and when I requested this I didn’t even notice it was a spin off of the Stark books so when I started to read it I was a little hesitant. But I am so glad that I did read it. I enjoyed it very much.
Jackson is sexy and Sylvia can’t seem to resist him even though she really kind of wants to. They share a history together as sorted as it is it is still a history that they both want to repeat and yet are unsure if it is the right thing to do.
This is another great read from J. Kenner. If you enjoy the genre then you will enjoy any works by Kenner so give this a try. While you do not need to have read the Stark books to read this I can see how it would be helpful.
