TITLE: The Trouble With Honor
SERIES #: The Cabot Sisters #1
CHARACTERS: Honor & George
AUTHOR: Julia London
PUBLICATION DATE: 02/25/14
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Desperate times call for daring measures as Honor Cabot, the eldest stepdaughter of the wealthy Earl of Beckington, awaits her family’s ruin. Upon the earl’s death she and her sisters stand to lose the luxury of their grand home – and their place on the pedestal of society – to their stepbrother and his social-climbing fiancée. Forced to act quickly, Honor makes a devil’s bargain with the only rogue in London who can seduce her stepbrother’s fiancée out of the Cabots’ lives for good.
An illegitimate son of a duke, George Easton was born of scandal and grows his fortune through dangerous risks. But now he and Honor are dabbling in a perilous dance of seduction that puts her reputation and his jaded heart on the line. And as unexpected desire threatens to change the rules of their secret game, the stakes may become too high even for a notorious gambler and a determined, free-spirited debutante to handle.
REVIEW:
Named after a virtue, as all the Cabot Sisters are, Honor’s name is apropo to her character. She honors those she loves but also herself. She is not afraid to go after what she wants no matter if it is right in the eyes of the ton.
It has been a while since I read a historical romance and I am glad I started back up with this one. It was a wonderful read filled with adventure and love. I enjoyed the character of Honor. She is so strong and independent but at the same time takes on so much responsibility to others. George in interesting too. While there is something about him he doesn’t really seem to be on the winning side of life but some how he is written in a way the reader wants him to succeed.
If you are a fan of historical romance then you will not want to miss the start of this new series.

TITLE: Forever This Time
SERIES #: Echo Lake #1
CHARACTERS: Josie & Ethan
AUTHOR: Maggie McGinnis
PUBLICATION DATE: 11/03/15
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Forever This Time is the story of Josie Kendrew, who returns to her tiny Vermont hometown after ten years’ absence when her father has a stroke, and Ethan Miller, her jilted high school sweetheart, who’s taken her place as the CFO of the Kendrew family business: running Snowflake Village—a “Santa’s Village”—style amusement park.
Josie, now a successful therapist with a Boston practice, isn’t sure how she feels about being back in Echo Lake. In some ways, things have changed a lot; Ethan’s got an MBA, seems to have something going with Molly, her childhood best friend, and he even owns the beautiful Victorian they’d always talked about buying together. But in other ways, the place is exactly the same, with reminders of the heartbreak that drove Josie away lurking around every corner. When Josie’s “Little Sister” Avery died of cancer at the age of ten, the grief nearly destroyed her, and ultimately inspired her choice of career. It also caused a hurt so deep she knew she couldn’t stay in Echo Lake, surrounded by memories. And she’s not going to stay now; as soon as her dad’s health improves, she’s headed right back to Boston, to her therapy practice and her quiet apartment. To her lonely, safe life.
As for Ethan, he’s not all that pleased to see the woman he once loved. It took a long time to pick up the pieces Josie left behind, he’s proud of the work he’s done to bring Snowflake Village into the 21st century, and he’s worried that if Josie finds out about his project to honor Avery’s memory, she’ll get the wrong idea. He’s not planning to make it easy for Josie to come back, and he’s not going to pretend that all is forgiven. They can’t just pick up where they left off… right?
REVIEW:
This is a story of going home and is that still the same home you left behind.
Josie comes back to town when her father has a stroke feeling no choice but to return. But Josie’s life as a teen was difficult and after a few things happen she leaves town. Ethan has grown into a very caring man who knows he lost the love of his life and isn’t looking forward to seeing her again.
But be warned this is not a sweet romance. I can’t even count the amount of times my eyes teared up. The flashbacks of Josie are hard to read but the story is one that should be consumed and will pull you in the moment that the sweetness of the first few chapters ends. Don’t get me wrong. The first few chapters are great and I wondered if the story had a mind of it’s own and wasn’t at all where the author expected to have it go.
I truly believe a fan of the romance genre that has a little more bite will love this book.

REVIEW:
And the Queen of Paranormal Romance does it again! If you have never read an Larissa Ione book then I have no idea what you are waiting for. She is the best at what she does. Her books are intense, intriguing and sexy.
This is the first book of the Lord of Deliverance/Four Horsemen books but if does have some of the characters from her Demonica series. You can however read this book without reading the other series but I would never understand why someone did not want to read ALL of her books in order. The men of Ione’s books are perfect and viral while the women are strong and far from helpless. She does not make the women into hopelessly weak women needing a man to save them. Her female characters are tough and effective on their own. The books of Ione’s are for women and men to read. Yes there is a romance wrapped in her books but there is intense scenes of aggression and battles as well.
How Ione comes up with these characters is beyond me because they are so interesting and foreign to our way of thinking but you become attached to this demons, both good (yes there are some) and bad. Ione brings you into a world that you want to visit and yet fear at the same time. I have enjoyed every book of hers and this one is no exception. She gets better and better with each book and considering I fell in love with her work with book #1 that is saying a lot.
TITLE: Kentucky Christmas
CHARACTERS: Billie & Andrew
AUTHOR: Sarah Title
PUBLICATION DATE: 12/05/13
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Welcome back to Hollow Bend, Kentucky, where love (and laughter) are just around the corner.
When Andrew Bateman rolls into town in the midst of a snow storm, his first thought is that the place is hardly big enough for a dog crate, let alone the vet practice he’s looking for. Next thing he knows, his life is flashing in front of him—a depressingly short flash—as he skids right into the side of the local bar.
Things start looking up when the vision he wakes to is not the Angel of Death, but a doctor. Well, actually a vet. Make that a vet tech, wearing red mittens. Who invites him home, where every inch is covered in holiday sparkles, cookies to be decorated, and an odd assortment of stray dogs, cats and puppies…
There’s nothing merrier than a white Christmas in Kentucky!
REVIEW:
2.5 Hearts This was a very short story. Only about 40 pages so I will keep this short. This is just an ok story. First there is way too many people named in this story and it gets confusing. Second the characters just really didn’t connect and finally it is written as if the characters are only teenagers and don’t have a mature bone in their body. Just not as good as I hoped.

TITLE: Bound by Night
SERIES #: MoonBound Clan Vampires #1
CHARACTERS: Riker & Nicole Martin
AUTHOR: Larissa Ione
PUBLICATION DATE: Sept. 24, 2013
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
The first installment in a sexy new paranormal romance series by Larissa Ione, author of the bestselling Demonica series!
A WOMAN OUT FOR BLOOD
Nicole Martin was only eight years old when the vampire slaves rose up in rebellion and killed her family. Now she devotes her life to finding a vaccine against vampirism, hoping to wipe out her memories—along with every bloodsucker on the planet. But there’s one thing she cannot destroy: her searing, undeniable attraction for the one man she should hate and fear the most . . .
A VAMPIRE OUT FOR REVENGE
A member of the renegade vampire MoonBound Clan, Riker is haunted by demons of his own. When he recognizes Nicole and remembers how her family enslaved his loved ones, his heart burns for vengeance. But when he kidnaps Nicole and holds her in a secret lair, his mortal enemy becomes his soul obsession, his greatest temptation, and, perhaps, his only salvation—a hot-blooded lover who could heal him with her touch . . . or bury him forever
KELLY’S REVIEW:
4 Stars Riker & Nicole are from two very different worlds. But one event 20 years ago will forever link them together. But this very same even could be too damaging for them to get over, because Riker & Nicole are going to have to learn to trust each other in order to survive the upcoming battle they are about to face.
Great new series from Larissa. So far I have loved all of Larissa’s books. I can now add Bound by Night to this list.
Bound by Night puts a new twist on the world of vampires. Not only do we have born vampires, but made vampires, demons and all with a native american history twist. I thought this was a great idea. I loved how Larissa incorporated the native american legends.
I will say that this book was not as hot and steamy as Larissa Demonica or Horseman series. I can’t wait to see what Larissa has in store for us next in this series.
KIMBERLY’S REVIEW:
4.5 Stars I devoured this book. This is the first in a new series by Larissa Ione. I love her Demonica series so I couldn’t wait to read this one and I was not disappointed. The characters of Nicole and Riker are mesmerizing. They have such an interesting relationship with so many ups and downs. There was so much emotion between them that you just want to never stop reading.
There are some interesting things though about this series. One it seems to be almost set in the future even though that is never really said. Everyone in this book knows of the existence of vampires and they have become the slaves of the future (I guess). Two Ione took a lot of liberties with what the vampire can do and can’t do which made the book interesting if not a little different.
I think if you have read a Ione story before you will not be disappointed in this story. The writing is different from her normal works and yet it is so Ione that you will consume it like I did. If you have not read her works before I do think you will love this book (if you like the vampire romance genre) but do not miss her Demonica/Horsemen series. Ione never disappoints!
JENNIFER’S REVIEW:
4 Stars I love Larissa’s books but the first thing that attracted me to Bound by Night was its cover. The cover model is the very handsome Colby Lefebrve and so that’s the image that I had of Riker in my head throughout the entire book. Nicole Martin had suffered a horrible childhood trauma at the hands of vampires which left most of her family dead. Still feeling the effects of that attack twenty years later, Nicole is on a mission to study vampires and use that knowledge to develop a vaccine against them. The thing I loved about Nicole was her determination and inner strength in this book. She lost so much at the hands of vampires but was willing to do anything to help find a cure for her illness. Even when Riker kidnapped her to help negotiate the release of another vampire, she overcame her fears to help him when she learned the true nature of her family’s company.
Riker was haunted by his own demons and spent twenty years blaming Nicole’s family for the loss of his mate. Being with Nicole was his opportunity to exact revenge on the very people that he hated but he learned that Nicole was a victim in all this as well. I liked their chemistry together and I liked how Nicole seemed to be the perfect person that Riker needed to help heal his anger.
I really enjoyed Bound By Night and I liked how Larissa created such a fascinating paranormal world. This book was an action-packed thrill ride and I can’t wait to read the next book and learn more about some of the secondary characters who appeared in Bound By Night.

As Shane struggles to unravel his past, dangerous new truths come to light. Can he protect the only woman he’s ever loved? And can Josie trust a man she thought she knew—one who carries such a deadly secret?
KELLY’S REVIEW:
4 1/2 Stars Shane & Josie had a whirlwind romance and for two amazing month they had a great marriage. But that was two years ago. Two years of no communication. Two years of nothing. Now out of the blue Shane is back, but he can’t remember anything. But he does know that he likes the idea that the feisty female that just walked through his hospital door is his wife. Josie is shocked that Shane is back. But she is not sure what to do. Does she trust Shane again? Not only with her safety but with her heart? Or does she walk away and never look back.
Awesome start to a new series for Rebecca Zanetti. Forgotten Sins book 1 in the Sins Brothers Series is great. Rebecca creates a world of secrets, lies, science, and super soldiers. I will admit as I was reading Forgotten Sins and the characters talk about all their special talents I was thinking along the lines of normal paranormal story lines, you know weres, shifters, vamps. But I was pleasantly surprised by the twists and turns in this book. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
KIMBERLY’S REVIEW:
Rebecca Zanetti is one of my favorite authors. I have loved every book she has written but this book just didn’t have the same feel that the other books had. I say that having given the book 4 stars so please know this is still a really good book. I am just used to 5 star books from Zanetti. I love her Dark Predators series and have fallen madly in love with the cowboys from her Maverick Montana series so I was surprised that Shane just didn’t have the same feel that her other guys normally do.
The story is interesting and has a bit of a twist that I can see would be unexpected to some. However as a fan of Christine Feehan’s it was not a big surprise to me. The story is good, the writing is good and the characters are good. I just can’t say they are GREAT like I usually do with her books. If you like the romantic suspense genre then certainly read this book. But just don’t base all of Zanetti’s books on this one because while 4 stars means it is good any other series you pick up from Zanetti will be all 5 stars.

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
New York Times bestselling author RaeAnne Thayne welcomes you to a small town full of big surprises that are both merry and bright…
Nothing short of a miracle can restore Eliza Hayward’s Christmas cheer. The job she pinned her dreams on has gone up in smoke—literally—and now she’s stuck in an unfamiliar, if breathtaking, small town. Rescuing Eliza is pure instinct for tech genius Aidan Caine. At first, putting the renovation of his lakeside guest lodge in Eliza’s hands assuages his guilt—until he sees how quickly he could fall for her. Having focused solely on his business for years, he never knew that what his life was missing was Eliza and her little girl. But is he willing to risk hoping for a yuletide romance that could lead to forever?
REVIEW:
4.5 Hearts Perfect Holiday story filled with the Christmas spirit, love, family and romance. Right from the beginning you want to take Eliza in your arms and hug her. Sheesh I mean the woman moves to a new town to find the B&B she is going to run burned down and is still smoking and then as she walks to a restaurant to think about her next steps she is hit by a car. I mean come on the woman needs a hug. And then there is Aidan who has been going through a hell of his own and is learning there is more to life than work and then he goes and runs into a woman with a child. How much can one man deal with? Well that accident changes both of their lives forever. And let me tell you Maddie just adds to the sweetness of the story.
This is a great book to put you in the holiday spirit. It is wrapped around decorating the house for Christmas, snow is falling, lights are up, family is coming in and food is cooking. I mean all you need is a warm fire to curl in front of and this book has that too.
Why not 5 stars when I enjoyed it so much? Well it gets a bit wordy in some places and some ideas are repeated just enough times you make you think “ok enough” but then it passes and the joy of the book comes back. Honestly, just pick up the book, tell the family to go Christmas shopping, curl up and get yourself into the Christmas spirit because that is what will happen when you read this story.

TITLE: Turn Up The Heat
SERIES #: Pine Mountain #1
CHARACTERS: Bellamy & Shane
AUTHOR: Kimberly Kincaid
PUBLICATION DATE: 03/04/14
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
“It’s not you.”
There are only so many times a girl can hear those words before she believes that it is, in fact, very much her. Unexpectedly jilted by her locally famous boyfriend and haunted by a boss who makes Attila the Hun look like a lap dog, Bellamy Blake does what any self-respecting girl in her shoes would do. She rounds up her two best girlfriends and makes plans to get the hell out of Dodge.
But Bellamy’s escape plan takes a nose dive on the side of rural route 164 when her transmission self-destructs, leaving her in the middle of a cell phone dead zone with nothing but her wits. Oh, and Shane Griffin, the hottest mechanic who’s ever checked under her hood.
Yet this small-town man isn’t all he seems. Can Shane and Bellamy prove that sometimes the most unlikely ingredients make the most deliciously sexy mix?
KELLY’S REVIEW:
4 Hearts This was my first Kimberly Kincaid book and I enjoyed it a lot. There was a good mix of humor, drama and love in this book. I just loved Shane and the more I learned about him the more I was rooting for him. Bellamy at first seems like the typical little rich girl, but she is so much more than that and a few bad days aren’t going to hold her down.
If you like a good, sweet contemporary romance you should give Turn Up the Heat.
I am looking forward to what Ms. Kincaid has in store for us next
KIMBERLY’S REVIEW:
4 Hearts I picked this up on a whim from NetGalley. I had never read this author before but the synopsis sounded fun and light so I thought what the heck. I am so glad I did. I truly enjoyed this book.
Have you ever heard “when it rains it pours”? Well Bellamy is in the midst of a tidal wave. No matter what is going on it seems to go wrong for her but she is strong enough to just roll with the punches and I enjoyed that. Shane has some secrets but he is such a sweet guy with a heart of gold that you can’t help but adore him.
While the book is a little predictable we aren’t talking about a mystery here we are talking about a sweet romance and it is an enjoyable one. I can’t wait for Gimme Some Sugar (#2 in the series).

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
A season of hope . . .
‘Tis the season in Shenandoah Falls and the first time Willow Peterson has been home in years. But she’s determined to fulfill the wishes of her recently deceased best friend and restore Eagle Hill Manor to its former glory-all in time to host the perfect holiday wedding. She just has to get the owner of the historic inn to hire her. Unfortunately, that means dealing with Scrooge himself…
After the death of his wife, David Lyndon has a bah-humbug approach to Christmas. But as December counts down and the wedding planning is in full swing, it’s harder and harder to stay immune to the charms of Willow, especially when he sees how much joy she brings his eight-year-old daughter. After a simple kiss under the mistletoe turns into something more, David is hoping he can turn the magic of the holiday season into the love of a lifetime.
REVIEW:
2.75 Hearts I had a bit of a hard time with this book. First I never found myself liking any of the characters. Secondly there was a lot of repeating of thoughts and finally David is kind of a jerk who’s family is even worse.
Besides being a political jerk the first half of the book is all about how much he loved his deceased wife and even touched his wedding ring over and over and then BAM! he is all about Willow. Willow’s story never ended. There is a background story that never gets answered.
I can see how somebody else may enjoy the story but I am just not one of them.

TITLE: Darkest Journey
SERIES #: Krewe Of Hunters #20
CHARACTERS: Ethan & Charlene
AUTHOR: Heather Graham
PUBLICATION DATE: 09/27/16
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
They say it’s about the journey, not the destination…
Charlene “Charlie” Moreau is back in St. Francisville, Louisiana, to work on a movie. One night, she stumbles across the body of a Civil War reenactor, the second murdered in two days. Charlie is shocked to learn that her father—a guide on the Journey, a historic paddle wheeler that’s sponsoring the reenactment—is a suspect.
Meanwhile, Ethan Delaney, new to the FBI’s Krewe of Hunters, is brought in on the case. He and Charlie have a history of their own, dating back to when he rescued her from a graveyard—led there by a Confederate ghost!
Charlie arranges a Mississippi River cruise so she and Ethan can get close to the reenactors, find out who knows what, who has a motive. They discover a lot more as they resume the relationship that ended ten years ago…but might die, along with them, on the Journey.
REVIEW:
4.25 Hearts I am so happy to say that the Krewe is back to the way it should be. One of the best parts of Graham’s books is the history she adds. The story isn’t real but the places and history are. The stories make me want to jump on a plane and go visit parts of this wonderful country that I didn’t previously know the history of… or at minimum the books make me want to look up the information on the internet. But the last two books just didn’t have that. They were set on a cruise line that left little room for history.
But in this story we are back to the Civil War era and the background story is really interesting… enough I went online for a bit more information. I also enjoyed that we had a bit more of a ghostly presence than we have had lately.
I liked Charlie. She stood her ground when she needed to but was also a good daughter and friend. I liked that Charlie and Ethan had a previous relationship and yet were not lovers. I also enjoyed that the characters from the last two books were back in more than a passing moment.
Graham is a master of romance with a historical feel and it is great that she is back at it in this story.

Tabitha must be protected at all cost. She has to embrace her future and her mate or it will be the end of everything she’s just come to know and hadn’t realized she needed.
REVIEW:
I have to say this book was engrossing. I could not put it down. There was some romance, some suspense, some shifting and some intrigue. I am pleasantly surprised at how much I really liked this story.
I do have to say that it is a continuing story so the story does not really end with this book. I have the second one already so I can not wait to read The Tiger’s Heart.
I enjoyed the character of Tabitha. She is strong and yet vulnerable at the same time. She really wants and needs to depend on herself but is not afraid to trust her mate’s feelings on things. I thought that Ty was written really well too. He is very Alpha and yet very loving to Tabby. I hope the second book continues some of this books storyline because some things were left unfinished.
If you enjoy a quick shifter read this one is a definite pickup.

REVIEW:
This is a sweet story. Honestly though it does not have a lot to do with Christmas and doesn’t exactly put the reader into a holiday mood. It is a quick read set in the Scotland islands but it really doesn’t have a Scottish feel. Very few words are written with an accent.
The story is predictable but sweet. I never really connected with any of the characters but Wren is sweet even if Frozen is mentioned a number of times too many.
All in all this book is enjoyable.
