Thanks so much to Kelly for letting me hang out here today!

Primal Possession, the second book in my Moon Shifter series is officially out as of a few days ago and I’m very excited! Writing this series has been so much fun and even though only two novels and one novella are currently out, I’ve already finished writing the next two and another novella so far. I’m so immersed in the series and I adore the hot shifter males I’ve been writing about and today I thought I’d share why.

1. My lupine shifters can change into giant, gorgeous wolves. They’re bigger than their ‘regular’ wolf counterparts, they have claws when necessary and they also have complete awareness of what they’re doing while in animal form.

2. They so protective of those they care about! It’s that animal instinct and they will fight to protect their mate or their pack. Liam, in Primal Possession, has no problem fighting for what (or who) he wants. Who doesn’t love a loyal friend or lover?

3. When they take bondmates, it’s for life. There’s no going back and neither party takes the decision to bond lightly. I’m a romantic at heart, so that’s awesome. I love the idea of happy ever after.

4. They have a playful side. Even though my guys are strong, powerful and have no problem holding their own, they love to have fun, especially with their women.

5. They’re freaking SEXY. The majority of the male shifters in my series are alpha to the bone, heal at supernatural speeds and are in incredible shape. Not to mention their stamina translates to all areas of their lives. That’s my kind of man 😉

To protect her, he will unleash the beast within…

As his pack’s second-in-command, lupine shifter Liam Armstrong gives orders and takes what he wants—until he meets red-headed, blue-eyed December McIntyre. Liam knows the human beauty is his intended mate the moment he sees her, but December is far too strong-willed to accept his protection.

December, whose brother is the town sheriff, has every reason to mistrust shifters after one killed her youngest sibling. But the forceful and handsome Liam has gotten under her skin in a way she hadn’t thought possible, and the desire she feels for him is almost too much to bear.

When a radical hate group targets all humans known to sympathize with paranormal beings, December is attacked in her bookstore. Reluctantly, she turns to the only one who can help her: Liam. And he is going to take her to places within herself she never knew existed.

Thanks so much for having me at Books-n-Kisses. I’m really excited to be here. Are you sure you want to know about my typical writing day? LOL It’s crazy. I procrastinate a lot. When I finally make myself get started, I procrastinate a little bit more.

First, I have to be situated just right on the loveseat. It’s in a corner of my bedroom. I put it back there because it’s a quiet place. If I need absolute quiet, I trek outside to my office, but then I have to drag my laptop and all the papers I need and that’s too much of a hassle.

Once I’m comfy I take a few deep cleansing breaths. That’s when I realize I didn’t scent the air. Yes, ridiculous, I know, but there’s something to be said about using certain scents to put your head in the right place. I either drag the Scentsy pot from the living room or light a candle or if I’m running out of time, a quick spray of nice scented air freshener.

Then I sit down and get comfy again. Except I usually remember I’m thirsty so I have to get up again, hurry to the kitchen and fill a glass with ice, a twist of lemon and water.

Now I’m ready, as soon as I have a stick of gum. Except if I’m out then I have to hunt around the house until I find a pack. I’m like a heavy smoker in search of a cigarette.

I have my water, my orange flavor sugar free gum, a comfy spot—and our neighbor’s dog decides to howl. It never fails. The dog isn’t dying, he just sounds like it. I know this because it has been going on for months and the dog is still alive. There’s a cure. No, I won’t shoot the dog. I’m an animal lover. Besides, I have a feeling our neighbor would get another one. This is their fourth animal and they all howl the same way—loudly. Ear buds and Enya singing block out the noise. Now I meditate a few minutes until the next scene begins to unfold.

I’ve engaged all my senses. I see the characters. I hear the soft music that will soon fade into the background. I taste the strong orange flavor of the gum. The aroma of the scent from the room spray, Scentsy pot or candle fills my space. My fingers lightly run across the keyboard and begin to tingle. I know I’ll bring my story to life.

Sometimes I won’t move from that spot for hours. Once I start typing, I get lost in the story. I want to know what will happen next as much as the reader.

And that’s my typical writing day. Revisions, editing, doing a light mapping of the story before I start writing—that’s a different process. I strive to have fun writing, though.

Again, thanks so much for having me today and Happy Reading! (On a side note—I just ordered Zumba CD’s LOL We’ll see)

Best Wishes,

Karen Kelley

Yankees in Britain
By Carrie Lofty

Joe from His Very Own Girl  is an American paratrooper and medic. During the build-up of military personnel in Britain just before D-Day, thousands of American servicemen arrived every week. For some northern villages, the main challenge of the time wasn’t ducking German bombing raids, but finding space enough to billet cities worth of soldiers.

They brought with them unusual accents, new entertainers and sex symbols, and an energy of difference that England had never seen. After all, the class system was still firmly in place, barely thirty years on from the days of Downton Abbey fame. That meant they brought chaos, disorder and a heck of a lot more.

Here, British civilian pilot Lulu Davies makes a nice discover to liven her evening:

Lulu followed her flatmates to the club. As she drew nearer, she assessed Paulie’s new lieutenant and his companions. Each chap wore the golden wings of a paratrooper and the AA arm patch of the 82nd Airborne.

So they weren’t any old Yanks. They were the All-Americans. A more boisterous, arrogant lot couldn’t be found in the U.S. Army. Billeted in and around Leicestershire, they split their time between war maneuvers and seeking out–in no particular order–women, liquor, food, music, and trouble.

They were heaps of fun.

The interesting thing about this mingling of two cultures is that the influences went both ways. After all, what boy from Indiana would ever have the opportunity to visit a multi-racial jazz club, if not for spending time in England?

The club was lit with gas lamps and a few more bare bulbs. The orange glow tinted pale faces with an artificial tan and rendered dark faces nearly black. And there were many dark faces. American men had turned out in abundance, with many from Colored units. They mingled with white women, sitting at plain tables, sipping cocktails, and watching the trumpet player where he performed on a tiny round stage.

Lulu touched his sleeve. “Are you all right?”

“You could’ve warned me.”

“What about? Oh.”

Feeling conspicuous, Joe’s ears buzzed. Sweat gathered under his arms, which had nothing to do with the thick warmth inside the club. “You sure we belong here, Lulu?”

“The first time I came here, I was convinced I’d wind up garroted in an alleyway. But there’s no quieter place in Leicester for drinks and music. You snag a table.”

By the time Joe found a place to sit and lit a Lucky Strike, she’d returned with a pair of gins. They edged closer together, their knees flirting. Onstage the trumpet player was joined by a man at the piano. A dame with nearly translucent skin, platinum hair, and a stunning chest stood at the microphone and crooned “My Funny Valentine.”

“You seemed uncomfortable,” Lulu said.

Joe took a drink and relaxed. “This place just took me by surprise. “

“Do you want to leave?”

“No. It’s just, you don’t see much of this sort of fraternizing back in the States,” he said, waving a hand toward the dance floor. “If you did, you’d leave jackrabbit quick because a fight was sure to follow. It was like that during basic training. Any Colored man, even a soldier–he’d nod the wrong way at a white woman and a dozen guys would line up to hand him his head. I didn’t expect things could be so peaceful.” He smiled softly. “There’s no harm in folks having a rum time of things.”

In the ’40s, only an upheaval as great as WWII could’ve brought about such an unexpected cultural exchange. I like to think it was a beautiful thing during a difficult time.

Summer has been a blast! Available now from Pocket Books are three Christ Family  romances. FLAWLESS kicked it off with a tale of an estranged couple’s search for love. The 99¢ tie-in novella, “A LITTLE MORE SCANDAL” follows two aspiring lovers to London. And the Scottish-set second novel, STARLIGHT, was an RT BookReviews 4½ Star Top Pick. “Richly nuanced characters and a superbly realized Victorian setting come together brilliantly.” ~ The Chicago Tribune

I’ve also launched a co-written pseudonym, Katie Porter [website], with my long-time friend and critique partner, Lorelie Brown. Our “Vegas Top Guns” series of contemporary erotic romances launched from Samhain with DOUBLE DOWN and INSIDE BET, both of which were RT BookReviews 4½ Star Top Picks: “This racy, raunchy, hella good read…will move Fifty Shades of Grey to the children’s section of the bookstore.”

After the War took the lives of Lulu Davies’s parents and her fiancé, she promised herself she would guard her heart carefully and concentrate on her great love–flying the biggest and best airplanes in the sky. Lulu is a pilot in the British civilian air force, ferrying planes around Great Britain and keeping her eye on a coveted spot in a training program for world-class pilots. She’s perfectly content to strive for greatness in the skies, and dance with a few GIs on the way.
Brawny, quiet American medic Joe Weber signed up with the paratroopers to escape his checkered past; he’s hoping that jumping out of planes and patching up soldiers will earn him respect and a hopeful future. Joe’s first real test of medical skill is on a pilot whose plane takes a hard landing in a training field; after rushing to the crash scene, he is stunned to come face-to-face with a gorgeous Rita Hayworth lookalike. And when the two cross paths at a dance hall a couple weeks later, he can’t resist the urge to find out more about this spirited, dark-haired beauty.
Their flirtation breaks all of Lulu’s rules, but dance by dance, week by week, walk by walk, she finds herself falling in love with this honest, vulnerable man on the run from his demons. But as Lulu and Joe’s undeniable attraction gains momentum, World War II steadily intensifies toward D-Day. Only time and hope will tell if the two lovers can overcome the past to form a beautiful life together in peace-time.

Spotlight Feature & Giveaway of Ava Riley’s Triple Shot

First I would like to say thank you to Kelly and Books-n-Kisses for allowing me to stop by today.  Also, thank you to her followers for stopping by.

From the back of the book:

Susan’s once carefree personality is put to the test with the complications of her mother’s disease and she finds herself failing miserably.  The turmoil in her life makes it difficult for her to find happiness, even after a night of passion with sexy Josiah Hunter.  When tragedy strikes Susan’s life, Josiah reaches out to comfort her, but the guilt she feels won’t grant him the access he’s looking for.  Only the separation of miles reveals to them both that what they share is real, no matter what life has thrown in their direction.

Today I am happy that my third novel, Triple Shot, with Lazy Day Publishing is out and available for download from Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com.  When my first book A Lifetime to Find Love came out, we were introduced to the funny and outgoing Susan.  At the time, I never intended for her to be anything more than the spunky sidekick.  She apparently had other plans however.

From time to time, we have those characters that we only see as secondary, but their personalities just will not let them stay there.  Susan is one of these characters.  If you have read A Lifetime to Find Love and/or Sacred Surrender, you know that there were things left undone in regards to some other characters and Susan is just the person to tie up those loose ends.

Excerpt:

Susan checked the dash clock again as she slowly drove through the parking lot of The Launchpad. It had been awhile since she’d last been here, but damn it, she couldn’t remember it ever being so busy she couldn’t find a place to park. She made one more pass in hopes some lonely soul had given up on the night and would be leaving. Letting out a curse when she saw that no one stumbled between parked cars, she resigned herself to parking across the street.

Moments later, after a flash of her ID, she strolled past the bouncers and through the doors. As her eyes adjusted to the darkness of the club, she spotted Tessa and the others in their usual table just beyond the dance floor. There were a few people she recognized as she slowly walked through the crowd, but one person in particular she was unfamiliar with. One, if her eyes didn’t deceive her, she would need to acquaint herself with as soon as possible. Susan felt heat pool between her thighs as she neared the table where Tessa and the others waited for her. Standing next to Rowan, was a tall drink of something cool and refreshing in the form of a towering cowboy. She couldn’t see his face yet, but what she saw of the backside was more than she could hope to look at in one night. He wore a perfectly shaped black Stetson that hid all but a patch of dark curls escaping from the back and peeking out from his hat, along with a navy blue button up shirt that stretched along the wide line of his shoulders, tucked into a pair of faded wranglers that clung to his flawless ass, and he finished off his outfit with a pair of black boots. Susan swallowed the knot in her throat and relished the sight before her.

She slowed to almost a crawl, taking in her fill before she had to show some restraint and not stare. She allowed her eyes to travel the length of his body, soaking in as much as she could, absently licking her lips as if she’d just had a taste of the most delicious chocolate cake she’d ever let past her lips. She certainly wouldn’t turn down the dessert that stood just feet from her, surrounded by her friends. Forcing herself to focus on something other than the man tempting her from afar, she took one last long look then headed toward Tessa with a wave.

“You made it,” Susan heard Tessa’s voice before she reached the table.

Susan’s breathing abruptly came to a halt when the cowboy quickly turned around at Tessa’s words. Never, never in the twenty-six years she’d been alive had she been privy to such a sight. The backside of said cowboy was nice, but what a sight the front offered. His dark skin enhanced cocoa brown eyes that sparkled from the small amount of overhead lights the suddenly overcrowded bar provided. The stretch of his shirt confirmed Susan’s suspicions that beneath the piece of material lay muscle upon muscle. A massive belt buckle the size of a small town drew her eyes to his nether regions and left no room for her overactive imagination. What lie in wait behind the denim kept her attention a little longer than she’d planned. and only the sound Tessa’s laughter shook her from the trance this stranger put her under. Susan felt the flush of her cheeks as her eyes traveled up to the cowboy’s, his pearly whites flashing as the corners of his mouth lifted into a smile as if her flustered state amused him. Susan shook off the image of her sprawled out beneath him and tried to focus on the words Tessa spoke to her.

“I thought you would approve,” Tessa whispered into Susan’s ear as she leaned in and hugged her.

Secret Heathers

By Katie Porter

Heather Morris from Inside Bet is an accountant who lives in a modest bungalow, drives a sensible car, and even her best friend teases about her lack of an adventurous sex life. But underneath her sensible blazer and push to become a full partner at her firm, Heather has secrets—as well as a tattoo and a piercing that, well, intrigues the hero, fighter pilot Jon Carlisle.

Her teen years were a bit of a disaster. Risks. Insolence. And one life-altering weekend that set her so hard on the straight-and-narrow path that no one believes she’s ever been anything but a good girl.

Jon suspects differently, mostly because he catches sight of a little something beneath that conservative blazer. The good girl has a past. The good girl is restless. The good girl wants to play.

It got me thinking about the people in our lives—not the ones we’re known since elementary school, where secrets are as informative as they are risqué. I’m talking about the friends and colleagues we’ve met as adults. There’s no telling what secrets they hide. A night of partying at a frat house, the aftermath of which meant waking up naked. A chance encounter on a business trip that led to a one-night stand. A piercing only a lover would get to see.

For me, the appeal of erotic romance is peeling back the layers of civilization and finding out what really hides in people’s deep psyches—their needs and desires. The couple you’ve known for years, who volunteer on the PTA and annually organize one helluva New Year’s Eve bash, could be sadomasochists. Are there hard-earned, lovingly given bruises hiding under that twin set? Do they make dirty home movies? Have they ever participated in a threesome or an orgy? Likely, we’ll never know.

What I love about these real-life implications is that, right now, the people around you and passing you on the street and coming over for a BBQ on Saturday could hide a gorgeous sex life. We tend to think of missionary, vanilla sex as the norm. But what if it’s not? What if everyone is kinky and we’ve just never said a word? As my husband said, and I don’t know where he found this quote: “Everyone is normal until you get to know them.”

I like that idea much better. Secret desires fulfilled behind closed doors. Only, in erotic romances such as Inside Bet, we get to open the door and learn at least one secret story.

Up next for Katie Porter, the co-writing team of Carrie Lofty and Lorelie Brown:

Now that both RT BookReviews 4½ Star Top Picks DOUBLE DOWN and INSIDE BET have been released, we’re looking forward to the September 25th arrival of HOLD ‘EM , featuring wild child Leah and a surprising reunion with a fellow pilot. The final two installments of the “Vegas Top Guns” series will follow in 2013.

November brings the m/m Christmas-themed CAME UPON A MIDNIGHT CLEAR , and in January, LEAD AND FOLLOW will launch the five-part “Club Devant” series of erotic multi-partner romances set in a hot New York City burlesque club.

As part of the 64th Aggressor Squadron, Major Ryan “Fang” Haverty flies like the enemy to teach Allied pilots how not to die. The glittering excess of the Strip can’t compare to the glowing jet engines of his F-16. But a sexy, redheaded waitress in seamed stockings? Now she gets his blood pumping.

Cassandra Whitman’s good-girl ways haven’t earned any slack from her manager ex-boyfriend, or prevented a bad case of frazzle from holding down two and a half jobs. She sure wouldn’t mind letting the handsome Southern charmer shake up her routine.

Their wild weekend lives up to Sin City’s reputation. Especially when they discover a matched passion for roleplaying. For Cass, it’s an exciting departure from her normal, shy persona. But for Ryan, it triggers memories of a time when his fetish drove away the woman he loved—leaving him reluctant to risk a repeat performance.

Except Cass refuses to settle for ordinary ever again. She’s about to show the man with hair-trigger hands that she’s got a few surprise moves of her own.

Warning: This book contains dirty-hot roleplaying, featuring an all-alpha fighter pilot and an ambitious waitress with a fabulous imagination. Also: dressing-room sex, a plaid schoolgirl skirt, and a sprinkling of spankings.

Her orderly life veers off course when she’s approached at a wine tasting by an arrogant pretty boy with a dirty mind and a hardcore dangerous profession. She finds herself tempted to step outside her respectable façade for some well-deserved excitement.

Captain Jon “Tin Tin” Carlisle knows women. Loves women. One glimpse of the nipple ring under Heather’s conservative blazer lights up all his instincts. He’s stumbled upon a rare treasure: an exotic beauty with a sexy laugh and a taste for dares.

After a red-hot hour of roulette, their simmering attraction bursts into an exploration of mutual passion that tests even Jon’s erotic limits. Soon he craves something he’s never desired before. More. But for Heather, more means trusting, and trusting leads to trouble.

Now Jon must decide if the best sex of his life is worth chancing his heart on a woman who shields hers so well.

Warning: Contains hot power play featuring a fighter pilot who comes from old money but knows all about bringing the dirty. Also: a nipple ring, sex on the hood of a hella sweet sportscar, and one teensy, tiny, wickedly naughty fluid exchange.

Daughter of a world-famous motocross champion, and head-on competitor with three brothers, Captain Leah “Princess” Girardi was born with a need for speed. No one tells her what to do, especially not men with chauvinistic “girls can’t be fighter pilots” attitudes.
That’s what ended her brief relationship with Captain Mike “Strap Happy” Templeton. Now, six years later, he’s been assigned to her squadron, and whoa damn, he’s filled out nicely. Plus he’s cultivated a Zen-like chill factor that pulls at her hormones.
Even after four tours, Mike’s the new kid in the 64th Aggressor Squadron. That’s not the only thing new. Since he last saw Leah, he’s learned a few things about himself. A female who outranks him still makes his teeth grind, but in the bedroom he craves the rush of pain inflicted by an adoring, powerful woman.
Their reunion is an explosive revelation. Leah is the beautiful mistress he’s been searching for, and she takes to her new role like a natural. But Leah’s aware one thing hasn’t changed. Loving him is still an all-or-nothing proposition. She’s not sure her reckless streak is wide enough to risk her career—and her heart.

Warning: This book contains a hot stud on his knees, a woman wielding a paddle, and filthy-gorgeous femdom sex. Also: dangerous rock climbing, two amazing motorcycles and some bad tequila.

Did you know that the Dallas Infomart was based on London’s Crystal Palace and then declared as the successor to the palace itself?

Did you know that a coven can also refer to a group of vampires? So you need to make it clear which mythology, country, and time period you are trying to work with.

Did you know that in the Those who Wander universe (where the Diaries series takes place) vampires are closer to fairies than any other breed?

Though some details of my research will never land on the page, each thing I learn about my universe as well as the way the world works makes the universe (and frankly my life) more interesting.

NINE LIVES OF AN URBAN PANTHER

by Amanda Arista

Dear Diary,

With new supernatural creatures popping up at every turn (Ghouls?
Really?), the city divided, and my long-lost cousin blazing into town,
I’ve got a lot on my mind. Oh, not to mention I’m supposed to be planning a wedding. Chaz has got to be the best, most patient (and probably clinically

But defeating my sworn enemy in a battle for the souls of Dallas is going to
require more than just my full attention. It means learning to depend on
everyone—especially Chaz—if any of us are going to make it out of this alive.
Because if Plan A doesn’t work, I’m going to need them for Plan B.

And Plan C . . .

HelenKay Dimon is guest blogging & giving away a copy of “COPY THAT”

Thank you for inviting me here today to talk about my newest release, COPY THAT, from Harlequin Intrigue.

I love connected stories.  You know the ones.  They’re the books that share a common set of characters or a plot point or both. I’ve written those both in single title and for Harlequin Intrigue. I’m thinking it’s the idea of building a community that appeals to me.  You bring this group of people together – for me, “people” usually means men – and create a sort of Band of Brothers feel.  As a reader, I race through this sort of set-up.  As an author, I look forward to writing them.

So, naturally, I wrote COPY THAT as a standalone. The idea was to write a totally self-contained story. The plot would end.  The characters would be done at the end of the book. Some folks might email and ask about stories for other characters because that happens all the time, but I would be done. That’s what I did with all three of my Intrigue releases this year, this one and WHEN SHE WASN’T LOOKING (my May release) and SWITCHED (the one coming out in November).

In COPY THAT, the hero is a twin.  Jeremy and Garrett Hill are tough rescuer types. When Jeremy, the Border Patrol agent, comes under fire (literally) while on vacation at his brother’s house, the question is whether someone is coming after him or his Defense Intelligence Agency agent brother, Garrett. There is a twisty, double-cross kind of suspense, a main romance for Jeremy and a reunited-lovers romance for Garrett. I finished and loved everything about the Hill brothers, the women they fell for and how the suspense wrapped up.

And then it happened. See, there were these two guys who did contract work for Garrett.  Brothers working for one of the twins. The poor copy editor even wrote in the margin, “this story has two sets of brothers!” and – boom! – I was hooked. COPY THAT is a standalone, but I loved writing brothers so much that you’ll see two secondary characters here in their own books in 2013. The best laid plans…

Amazon | B&N

Returning from his latest Border Patrol assignment, Jeremy Hill seeks sanctuary in his twin brother’s home. The last thing he expects to find is an armed man already inside, or Meredith Samms, a gorgeous tenant caught in the cross fire. Then he discovers that the gunman’s attack is meant for his twin brother, who is nowhere in sight, and Jeremy must take matters into his own hands.

Searching for his brother while trying to protect this girl next door, Jeremy finds himself caught up in the danger he’d become all too familiar with. In his world, everyone’s a target and anyone can be a suspect, so Jeremy has no room for emotions. But what Meredith stirs within him may complicate this unexpected mission to the point of no return….

A great big thank you to Kelly for having me here today!

Years ago when I first heard of ebooks, I was hesitant and yes, wary of them. I thought they would never last. (I’m laughing at myself as I type this.) I’ve never been so glad to be wrong! Considering my views, it’s ironic enough that I got my start in publishing via digital first publishing and to date I have more ebooks than print books. And I also discovered many of my now-favorite authors through digital first publishers.

There are many reasons to love ebooks and here are some of mine:

1. I love being able to carry around an entire library in my kindle. I’m a busy mom and ebooks make daily reading so much easier.

2. Easy to purchase. I live in a small town and our one decent book store just closed down. I can drive to any of three surrounding towns to go to a bookstore but there’s no guarantee that what I want will be there. With my kindle? Chances are if I want it, I’ll be able to find it.

3. Not only is buying easy, it’s IMMEDIATE. Yes, I live in an age of ‘I want stuff immediately’ and while that attitude normally bugs me…I love being able to download a book right off my computer to my kindle without having to worry about shipping costs and waiting.

4. I can change the font size on my ebooks!

5. Without the ebook revolution it’s unlikely that my recent release, Lover’s Instinct, would be available (like how I slipped in some promo?). It’s book 1.5 in my Moon Shifter series and since it’s a novella with a traditional publisher, in the past it wouldn’t have been available except to be included in a print anthology with other authors. And since the probability of that happening is slim…it might not have ever been published.

Ebooks are fantastic for so many reasons because now readers and writers have more options! And I am all about options.

What about you? Do you like ebooks or print books better?  Leave a comment to be entered to win a print copy of Primal Possession (US only), my upcoming release in the Moon Shifter series! In the meantime, Lover’s Instinct is out now.

About Lover’s Instinct:

Lupine shifter Nikan Lawless has it bad for Esperanze Cordona, the sweet and curvy woman who only views him as a friend. But when Nikan is assigned to act as Esperanze’s bodyguard during a weekend education conference, he knows it’s the perfect opportunity to seduce her off her feet—away from the pack.

From August 5-18th, Winters and Kinrade are giving away two sets of each of their paranormal romance series (all signed) to two lucky winners. The Grand Prize winner will also receive a Gift Certificate for Amazon.com to cover the cost of a Kindle Fire (but we won’t tell if you just want to buy $200 worth of books instead!)

Join us in celebrating the launch of the newest in Zoe Winters’s Preternatural Series, Life Cycle (how much do we love love love Tamara and Cain? So freaking much!) which now includes one novella compilation and three novels. If hot & steamy paranormal romance is your thing, then you’ll fall in love with all the hunks in this series, whether they be demons, vampires, werewolves or mages… they’re all so deliciously bad they’re good!

Life Cycle is book 4 in the Preternaturals series. However, new readers can read this installment first with no problems. Most of the books work as stand alones, and each book focuses on a different couple. The main theme of the Preternaturals is: “Everybody is the hero of their own story.” Some characters start out villains and become heroes. Some are heroes and turn into villains. Some are heroes to some characters and villains to others.

The series world has multiple dimensions, heaven, hell (which is earth), demon dimensions, and others. Magic, reincarnation, witches, vampires, demons, werecreatures of all sorts (called therians), gods, and angels all play an important role in the Pretverse.

It’s a world where blood is magic, authority is questioned, and soul mates always find each other, no matter how many incarnations it takes.

The Preternaturals contains a blend of snarky humor and angst that fans of the series have come to expect and enjoy.

As an extra bonus for this exciting launch, get signed copies of Kimberly Kinrade’s award winning Forbidden Series—a YA paranormal romance/thriller.

Guest Blog & Giveaway with Sabrina Darby

Thank you for having me!  I’m very excited to have The Short and Fascinating Tale of Angelina out in the world.  It’s a fun little Regency story in which a mother hires a mistress for her war-scarred son.

The official blurb is:

Wanted:

A beautiful young woman—preferably one with no connections, who won’t ask too many questions—to spend two weeks in the North of England with an obstinate, aloof, and utterly handsome man.

Must love dogs, fixing up crumbling castles, and gorgeous and complicated war heroes who may or may not be hiding hearts of gold under their gruff exteriors.

Must not, under any circumstances, fall in love . . .

Simpering misses need not apply

Read an Excerpt: HERE

If you notice, there’s a crumbling castle mentioned in this story, which meant I had to do a little research on castles.  And, more importantly, on the construction and deconstruction of them.

As much as I love castles that look like

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bolton_Castle.JPG

this one was far too large for my purposes.

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Hellifield_Peel_-_geograph.org.uk_-_640957.jpg

This one was far more manageable but still not quite right.

What I really wanted was a great hall and a tower, but I couldn’t find the right castle on which to base my hero’s, and so I decided that his castle was built in stages and slowly improved upon by successive generations. At least, before war destroyed it and peace sent its ruins into disuse. It’s a modest little castle, but absolutely perfect for my use.

However, if I were ordering a castle for my own habitation, it would be a bit larger with many secret passages!

What about everyone else? If you were to build a castle from scratch, what are some must have features? And do you have a favorite real castle?

Killer Kisses

By Chastity Bush

Paranormal Romance

Liquid Silver Book

http://www.liquidsilverbooks.com

The man straddling the Harley was, in one word…juicy.

Adult novelty store owner Tina James loves a good adventure, and the man peering at her through onyx black eyes is the closest thing to adventure she’s ever come across. Unless of course, you count the mugging at gunpoint she experienced only hours earlier.

Leather clad Alex Monroe and his big bike just moved to number one on Tina’s sexiest man alive list, and with every searing kiss, every white hot caress, Tina finds herself living out her wildest fantasies with the man of her dreams.

But is it all too good to be true?

There’s something about Alex, from his unusual habit of only leaving the house at night, to his amazing speed and strength that has Tina wondering what exactly the man she’s falling head over heels for is hiding?

Meeting Tina James is the best thing that’s happened to Alex in the last five hundred years. She’s spunky, sassy, and beyond sexy.

But there’s a problem…or three.

Alex is a vampire, Tina’s a mortal, and he’s searching for a rogue vampire who just so happens to have his sights set on her as his next victim.

Now, not only does Alex have to find a way to tell the woman he loves what he is, he has to catch the killer before he loses her forever.

Excerpt-

The cold, night air swirled around Alex as he rode down the desolate streets. The motorcycle beneath him rumbled, sending a wave of comfort throughout his tired body.

He was a long way from home and for Alex Monroe the old saying was true; there’s no place like home.
He’d spent the entire night in his hotel room searching through cold case files, going back years and years, looking deeper at unsolved murders, trying his hardest to find something, anything that would lead him in the right direction. He needed to find this murderer and fast. It was only a matter of time before he slipped up and exposed their kind to the entire world, spelling disaster for them all.
Only sparkly, vegetarian vampires appealed to most people nowadays, and he was neither sparkly, nor vegetarian.
Rounding the corner, Alex wondered if his contact inside the precinct would have any new leads to share with him. He doubted it; the local authorities didn’t have a single shred of evidence to help lead them toward who the killer might be. He’d hoped to find some connection between the recent murders and some of the unsolved ones from the past. But so far, he’d hit a dead-end.
The sooner he got this mystery solved, the sooner the women of this city would be safe…from this killer anyway, there would always be others wreaking havoc somewhere.
And he would be there to hunt them down.
It was his job. As an Immortal Detective he would do whatever it took to end the terror rogues caused with their senseless killing.
Pulling next to the curb in front of the police station, a flash of gold caught his attention.
Taking a closer look through the dim streetlight, he frowned.
A lone woman walked along the desolate sidewalk. Her long, sandy-blonde hair whipped in the breeze as she pulled her lightweight jacket tighter around her small frame.
“What the hell is she doing?” he asked himself aloud.
Didn’t she know there was a killer on the loose? Why would she be walking the streets alone at three o’clock in the morning?
Sometimes Alex couldn’t help but wonder how humans had lived so long without being overrun by his- or any other- species.
Before he knew what he was doing, Alex pulled away from the curb, and rolled his bike along the street beside the woman.
Alex wasn’t your typical knight in shining armor. He wasn’t even what someone would consider valiant, it just wasn’t in his nature, but something inside him wouldn’t let him turn his back on this woman.
“Are you all right?” he called loudly over the rumble of the motorcycle.
Stopping, she turned to face him, and all thought fled his mind at the beauty revealed before him.
Large, sea green eyes bore into him as her gaze widened cautiously.
Despite her petite stature, her legs, encased in tight, distressed jeans, were long and shapely.
Letting his eyes sweep over her boldly, he took in every inch of her lithe body, as though admiring every brushstroke of a masterpiece.
Her skin was a flawless, creamy ivory with a pinch of rose color staining her cheeks and nose from the bite of the crisp night air.
“Listen,” she said wearily, “if you’re looking to rob me, you’re too late. Someone beat you to it about three hours ago.”
Smiling, Alex shut off his bike.
“Actually, I was just wondering why a beautiful woman such as yourself would be walking alone in the dark when there’s a killer on the loose.”
And she is beautiful, he mused.
Stunning even. He’d lived a long time and faced countless women, but could remember none who matched her in beauty.
The impulse to reach out and grab her, to pull her against his chest and explore every delectable inch of her, rocketed through him like a bolt of lightening.
Taking a deep breath, Alex struggled to rein in his fast rising desire.
What had gotten into him? There was one rule he refused to break; never get involved with a mortal. Once they found out his secret, it was all over. But something about this sarcastic little bundle pushed him, urging him to learn more about her.
Just the sight of her held him on a razors edge. The silky glide of her voice only added to his desire.
Cocking a brow, she tilted her head. “I didn’t have much say in the matter. Some skuzz-bucket robbed me after I left work. He took my purse, which had everything in it, and the creepy cop who took my statement didn’t offer to give me a ride home or let me call anyone to come pick me up. So, here I am.” She finished, waving her hand in the air with exasperation.
She was feisty and, much to his surprise, he found he liked it. Alex never cared much for loud sarcastic women, but something was different about this one, and he couldn’t fight the feeling that he was supposed to know her. If he’d learned one thing in all of his years, it was to follow his instincts and at the moment, his instincts were screaming for him to grab hold of this woman and not let go.
He couldn’t let her continue on her way. Not only was it dangerous for her to be out alone this time of night, the knee-high, black leather boots on her feet looked like they would cripple her before she reached the end of the block.
How the hell do women wear those things?
“What was the cops’ name?”
“Briggs.” She grimaced, “He even tried to give me his number.” She shuddered as though the though disgusted her, and he chuckled.
He would have a little talk with his contact about Officer Briggs’ unacceptable behavior. But for now, he needed to get her on the back of his bike and her thighs pressed firmly against his hips.
“Let me give you a ride.”
“I’m sorry, but I don’t think so.” She laughed cynically.
“Why not?”
Suppressing a groan, Alex watched as she propped her hands on her wonderfully curved hips.
“Because, I’ve already been mugged tonight and I don’t wish to add raped and murdered to the list.”
Alex couldn’t contain the laughter that burst from his lips.
