Sassy, smart, and sexy, former supermodel-turned-tech guru Rubi Russo has it all—looks, money, confidence and freedom. Her life is a whirlwind of fast cars and fleeting affairs—and she likes it that way. With a past like Rubi’s, forever isn’t part of her vocabulary. So when studly Renegade stuntman Wes Lawson wants to take their friendship to the next level, she’s all out.

Raised a simple country-boy, Wes knows the brazen Rubi isn’t his type. But after spending time with her, he discovers she’s everything he’s ever wanted in a woman. To win her wild rebel heart, he’ll have to prove he sees behind her smokescreen to all the goodness she tries to hide. Then it’s just a matter of crushing her fears, shattering her barriers, and convincing her that loving him is everything she’s been missing in her life, too.

Piece of cake.

Excerpt:

Wes reached back, grabbed her forearms and used them to pull her around in front of him. Then he gripped her waist, separated her knees with his and pulled her into a straddle across his lap.

She gasped and grabbed his shoulders. Her heart rate spiked. The chair had no rungs. Nowhere for her to plant her feet and lift off him. He gripped her hips and pulled her closer, growling when his package rubbed between her legs.

“Wes—“

“I want you looking into my eyes when you try to trash our arrangement.”

“We didn’t make an arrangement.

“What does that make last night? Other than a fucking fantasy come true, I mean?”

A mistake. She scooted off his lap and stood. Crossed her arms. But that didn’t stop the desire flooding her body in a waterfall of heat. “Look, Wes, our friendship doesn’t fit the whole friends-with-benefits model. I really think—”

He laughed, eyes closed, smile stretched across his handsome face. “Baby, you’ve been spending too much time in business meetings. Where’d you get this idea of a ‘model’?”

Embarrassment flushed her face and she bit the inside of her lip. “Internet.” As soon as his smile grew again, she added, “Don’t laugh. It makes a lot of sense.” She covered her face, rubbing at the tingle in her cheeks. “And I seem to need help making sense right now.”

He sat forward and pressed his elbows on his knees. His gray eyes were clear and serious, but also rich with affection. “If you need help making sense of us, listen to your body. It knows exactly what you need. And even if there were some type of ‘model’ to this friends-with-benefits thing, I wouldn’t follow it. I was born to break rules, baby. We both were. All we need is an understanding between the two of us, not a one-size-fits-all list of ‘shoulds’ created by some geek staff writer for an online rag.”

Damn, she didn’t know what to think or how to feel. She only knew she wanted to escape the pressure caused whenever she thought about this situation.

“I know this freaks you out, so let’s keep it simple for now—sex when we want to fuck and friends the rest of the time.”

Her belly burned with the implications. A huge part of her wanted to scream yes. Absolutely. Let’s start now.

Instead, she frowned, narrowing her eyes on him. “You think you can do that?”

“Don’t know. Never done it before.”

Her wall of resistance reappeared. “That’s what I’m afraid of. Really, Wes, this isn’t—”

“Are you chicken, Russo?” he asked, his voice low and taunting. “Afraid you’ll fall for me?”

No. Yes. Shit, she didn’t know. “I’m afraid this is the perfect setup for disaster.”

A slow, hot grin lifted his mouth. “Sounds like the perfect challenge to me.”

She rolled her eyes, her chest growing tight.

“Come on,” he said, razzing her with a fake punch to her gut. “I expected more zing from you, Russo. I think you’re…” He made chicken noises.

A laugh bubbled up, and she reached out, covering his mouth. “Stop that.”

He pulled her hand away and threaded their fingers. “Let’s set up some ground rules if that will make you feel better. I’ll even give you a handicap.”

“Pfft. Like you don’t need a handicap? And this”—she lifted their joined hands—“is not sex when we want it and friends the rest of the time.”

He exhaled hard and pulled his hand back, but his smile faded into a frustrated, tight line. “Go ahead, set up your first rule.”

“No. That would mean I believed this could work, and I don’t.”

More chicken noises.

“Dammit, how did you get so good at that?”

“Grew up on a farm. Duh.”

“I keep forgetting that. Bet you do a great pig.”

“Blue-ribbon winner in the county fair a decade running when I was a kid.” He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, tilted his head back. “Suuuuuu—”

She slapped a hand over his mouth before the “weeeee!” came out and doubled over with laughter. “God…you’re such an idiot.”

He pulled her hand away with his free one and squeezed gently before letting it go. “Just one thing you love about me. There will be lots more. I’ll make sure of it.”

Sometimes fun, sometimes naughty. Always romantic.

I am a NY Times and USA Today Bestselling Author writing under the pseudonym Skye Jordan for my more … sexually heated … works.

My Skye Jordan novels are all about enjoying that little wild streak we all have, but probably don’t let out often enough. About those fantasies we usually don’t get the opportunity to indulge. About stretching limits, checking out the dark side, playing naughty and maybe even acting a little wicked. They’re about escape and fun and pleasure and romance.

And, yes, even love. Because even as Skye Jordan I’m just a happily ever after kinda gal. (Or, in some cases, happily for the foreseeable future.)

Friendship by Emma Leigh Reed

What makes a friendship? Over the years I have had “friends”, but their friendship waxes and wanes with time and circumstances. So what makes a true friendship? If you had asked me that question six months ago I probably would have answered that I had no idea. Now I look at friendship and realize it is a combination of things, and that true friendship is a very rare treasure.

Friendship by definition has a few different meanings, and it changes with different stages of your life. One thing in my research I found is that trust is typically linked with friendship.  I must say I have quite a few friends, but I don’t trust easy, especially after having trust broken numerous times. But in acknowledging friendship, I don’t find it necessarily goes hand and hand with trust.  I have childhood friends that although we can spend time together and have a great time, would I trust them with my life, with issues in my life that I need to talk through? No, not necessarily.

Can friendship be synonymous with love? I think a true friendship can, and it would involve trust. As someone who trusts very little, and keeps things internal without sharing, I find myself pondering this as I look at people in my life and my friendships. There are very few people in my life that I share the “true me” with. I am a very private person, and on top of rarely trusting anyone, it makes me keep to myself with walls in place to protect myself. Recently I came to a place in my existence where a childhood friend wandered back into my life. When sitting and talking, catching up, I found myself in a place of unfamiliar territory—at least unfamiliar in the last 25 years.  I found myself transported back to a time of 25 years ago where this friend of mine and I were very close, and had the ability to talk about anything. There was trust, unbroken and pure trust. I found myself right back in that spot where I realized I trusted this person beyond anything else in the world. This was a person not only would I trust with my life, but with my utmost secrets – secrets of failure, disappointment and shame, and know that no matter what this person was on my side.

How can a friendship like this pick up where it left off after 25 years? How can a bond be so strong with someone that you haven’t had contact with in a quarter of a century?  It baffles me, yet on the other hand, I’m thrilled to be back in contact with this friend, a kindred soul, who is the only one that knows me for who I truly am. And I have to say, it has been a relief and a time of relaxation to let the guard down and be myself. If you have a friend like this, a true friendship, consider it one of the greatest gift you can ever be given and enjoy it to the fullest.

CHLOE WILDER is newly pregnant and running from her abusive boyfriend. She needs a home more than ever before. Chloe takes refuge in Arden, Maine – a sleepy, coastal town where she finally thinks she can be safe. JAYDEN PETERSON abandoned his career as a city cop after accidentally shooting a child. Jayden quickly agrees to fill his father’s shoes as Arden’s police chief. Determined to protect his loved ones and unsure if he can ever pull his gun again, Jayden is relieved to stay where the worst crime that will ever happen is jaywalking – or so he thinks.

Except of TRUSTING LOVE:

Chloe Wilder shot up in bed. She rubbed her eyes with the back of her hands trying to adjust to the dim moonlight that filtered in through the closed blinds. Her heart raced as she took in the shadows that danced around the room. She swiped her hand across her face to wipe away the tears the nightmare left behind. Wrapping her arms around her knees, she hugged herself tight.

This same nightmare had become recurrent. Her arms wrapped around her waist, she whispered, “I won’t let anything happen to you.”

She pushed the covers off, jumped out of bed, and crossed to the window. It was dark except for the light of the moon. No street lights were lit. There was no better time than now.

She pulled on an old pair of sweat pants and a baggy sweater. She dragged an old tattered suitcase from the closet and started packing. A sense of urgency came upon her as she shoved in the last shirt and closed the suitcase. She glanced around the room and her eyes stopped on a picture of her parents. They held each other, smiling. It was obviously taken at a happy moment. She picked up the picture and looked closer. Sadness and shame overwhelmed her. Holding it close, Chloe closed her eyes and prayed for forgiveness for the mistakes she had made in her life. Putting the picture in her purse, she picked up the suitcase and slipped through the door into the night.

She threw the old suitcase in the backseat of her beloved Toyota. The vehicle was on its last leg, but somehow it kept running. Chloe prayed it would take her far away from this town, and even further from all the pain. She needed a fresh start for her and her baby she vowed to protect.

Guest Blogger: Kallypso Masters

Kallypso Masters’s 2014 Appearances (Come meet her!)

I’m on a personal mission to meet all of my readers face to face. Of course, I know that’s impossible, BUT I try to get around as best I can to meet as many as possible! I used to wait for events to be arranged in the places I wanted to go, but since nothing ever happens on the West Coast, I decided to create two of my own! And I am hoping to get the lovely Kelly of this blog to join me at the one in the Seattle area next year. Otherwise, I’ll go hunt her down! Kelly has been a huge supporter of mine since before I was even published, so it will be long past time we meet!

When I meet readers, I give out Kally’s Friend buttons! (I only give those to people I’ve met face-to-face, even though I know I have lots of friends online I call my Masters Brats.) I just started that a few months ago, but still have lots of the 1800 I ordered, so be sure to ask for one if you see me anywhere!

IMG_2961

In my plan to have as much time as possible at home to write Nobody’s Dream and possibly even a holiday novel with Adam and Karla (and the whole gang, of course), I’m only doing four big reader/author conferences in 2014 (and even fewer in 2015). But I’m also doing two events of my own on the West Coast (Seattle and San Diego areas) in October.

I also enjoyed my 10-day road trip of Texas earlier this year so much that I’m planning another for this year—this time in the Southeast (GA, FL, AL, MS and western TN/KY) for late June and early July. I’ll announce small gatherings with readers (my “Dinner with Kally” events in Atlanta and possibly other locations as I vacation and such). So come see me if I’m anywhere near you because it might be years before I get back to your area again!

IMG_1927Oh, and at each of the big conventions/conferences, I’ll be giving away one of my signature “bondage baby tigers” (in honor of Karla, Adam’s Kitten, and sometimes Baby Tiger). Toymaker (see photo of the Dom giving an electrifying demo at one of my events) put the plush animals in bondage. He’s so evil! (But I did ask him to!)

BDSM Writers Con: August 21-24, New York City, NY http://www.bdsmforwriters.com/BDSM_WRITERS_CON_2014.html

These two events hosted by me are still being planned but you can mark the dates down for sure.

BDSM Authors/Readers Get-together, Oct. 10-12, Seattle, Wash. area

I’ve invited some BDSM author friends to join me (and will share the names as soon as I get this nailed down) and we’ll have BDSM demos and experts to talk with us, a morning of panel discussions with the authors (sorry—all spots are filled; want to keep this small, intimate, and manageable), a public book signing, meals together, and lots of time to talk with favorite authors—and meet some new ones!

Annual Rescue Me Sightseeing Tour, Oct. 23-26, San Diego County, CA

Still trying to find an affordable place to hold this. Will be limited to 50 participants other than assistants, so it will fill quickly. We’ll visit sights in San Diego and Orange county where parts of my series was set, including La Jolla, Camp Pendleton, Thousand Steps Beach, Rancho Santa Fe, and Solano Beach (Eden Gardens).  I’ve checked the phases of the moon and this is the optimal weekend to have it so we can be SURE to make it inside the beach cave where Damian and Savannah had two major scenes—barring any major storms at sea. Here’s a pic of my first tour taken in May 2013. Tide was low, but STILL too high to get into the cave. Who knew the moon mattered in such things? I live in Kentucky! We don’t have tides!

Thousand Steps beach tour with Kally and friends

My apologies to my Northern, Midwestern, and northeastern readers. I promise to focus on you in 2015!  There’s only so much Kally to spread around AND still have time to write books for all my readers, even the ones who will never get to one of my events!

When Marc d’Alessio first rescued the curvaceous and spirited Italian Angelina Giardano at the Masters at Arms Club, he never expected her to turn his safe controlled life upside down and pull at his long-broken heartstrings. Months later the intense fire of their attraction still rages but something holds him back from committing to her completely. Worse, secrets and memories from his past join forces to further complicate his relationships with family, friends, and his beautiful Angel.

Angelina cannot give all of herself to someone who hides himself from her. She loves Marc, the BDSM world he brought her into, and the way their bodies respond to one another but she needs more. Though she destroyed the wolf mask he once wore, only he can remove the mask he dons daily to hide his emotions. In a desperate attempt to break through his defenses and reclaim her connection to the man she loves, she attempts a full frontal assault that sends him into a fast retreat, leaving her nobody’s angel once again.

Marc finds that running to the mountains no longer gives him solace but instead leaves him empty and alone. Angelina is the one woman worth the risk of opening his heart. Will he risk everything to become the man she deserves and the man he wants to be?

DRAGON AWAKENED

December 17, 2013

Ruby Salazaar wants answers . . . and revenge. Her uncle has just been murdered before her eyes and the name he utters with his final breath –  Cyntag – leads Ruby into a world beyond her wildest imaginings. She soon learns that the dark, sexy Cyntag Valeron knows more about her than she does herself.

Ruby changed Cyn’s life before she even knew who he was. Now she charges into his life, a beautiful woman full of fire and questions. Cyn knew this day would come, yet he couldn’t foresee the danger –  and desires – Ruby would bring with her. He can teach her how to harness her newly awakened powers. But there is one force neither of them can control . . .

Excerpt:

Cyntag slowly waved his hand in front of her face, his eyes staring straight into hers between his long fingers. “Crescents can identify one another by our eyes. Some are icy glitter, some swirling mist, and others burning embers.”

Her heart hitched. Hadn’t she seen a glow in his eyes?

He lowered his hand. “Moncrief cast an illusion spell to hide the magick in your eyes. You looked like a Mundane, a regular human. Now that he’s gone, the spell is wearing off. Soon it will be obvious to every Crescent who sees you.”

She walked over to a gilt-framed mirror on the side wall and stared at herself. No glow. He was full of it. “I don’t see anything like what you described.”

“Because you cannot see.” He came up behind her. “You have not been Awakened. Crescents are initiated in a ceremony at thirteen, when their powers begin to appear. It’s similar to those of many native tribes to celebrate a coming of age. But much more comes with being an Awakened Crescent.”

Thirteen. She remembered a gnawing hunger deep in her belly and vivid dreams filled with colors and longing and…dragons.

Cyntag brushed her bangs from her forehead, his thumb grazing the skin near her burn. “The orb did this?” She nodded, and anger shimmered over his face. “Unacceptable.”

“I thought so.”

He’d said it as though the attack on her was a personal affront to him. Like he owns you.

“Right now you’re like a baby chick fallen prematurely from the nest, without feathers developed enough to fly from danger or any way to fight enemies. Unable to even see them. You might get a glimpse now and then, but that won’t be enough.”

“You’re saying I have powers?” Could her disbelief be more clear? “Can I make one of those orb-lightning-bolt things?”

Another twitch of a smile. “Sorry, no. However, you are much more magnificent than mere magick.”

“I’m magnificent. Yeah.” She couldn’t help but glance down at herself. “Fine, how do I get…what’d you call it? Awakened?” Let’s play along.

“Considering the circumstances, only I can awaken your powers.”

Did his arrogance know no bounds? Dumb question, Ruby. “What do I have to give you for that?”

“You assume there’s a price?”

“There’s always a price.” She could see that he had one too.

He stepped closer, again breaching boundaries. She wouldn’t move away. If only she didn’t have to look up at him. Even being five-foot-eight, he was way taller. His heat reached out, beckoning her. She stiffened her stance. The dragon tattoo eyed her, but no, she did not see it move.

He waited until she drew her gaze back to his face. “The price is that once you see, you can never go back to being blind. Once you know, you can never forget. Once you experience your true nature, you can never ignore it.”

“Ignore what?”

He released a breath. “We’d better start with the small stuff.”

Being a bartender by night and law firm runner by day helps make ends meet for Kathleen Turner. Mostly. Being 23 and single in Indianapolis wasn’t exactly a thrilling adventure, but then again, that’s not what Kathleen wanted. At least, not until she met Blane Kirk.

Navy SEAL turned high-profile attorney, Blane is everything a woman could want. The only problem? He’s her boss.  Blane is known for playing the field and the last thing Kathleen needs or wants is to get involved with him. But when her friend is murdered and it seems Kathleen will be next, she may not have a choice.

Now Blane is the only thing standing between her and people who want her dead, including assassin-for-hire Kade Dennon. Beautiful but deadly, he’ll kill anyone who gets in his way, even the woman who makes him question everything he’s become.

The deeper she sinks into the web of lies and murder, the more Kathleen realizes she can trust no one if she’s going to survive. No one is innocent. Not even Blane.

After her promotion from law firm Runner to Investigator, Kathleen Turner is learning the ropes of her new job from none other than assassin-for-hire Kade Dennon, a situation her boyfriend Blane Kirk is none too happy about. But the lessons with Kathleen take a back seat when Kade becomes a target. Previously untouchable, his enemies now know of the chink in his armor – his brother’s girlfriend.

And Kade’s not the only thing coming between Kathleen and Blane. From Blane’s inexplicable defense of a man guilty of a horrible crime, to a mysterious stranger from Kathleen’s past, to Kathleen’s risky investigation into human traffickers, the obstacles mount against a relationship that’s just begun to find trust again.

While Blane considers a job offer that would take him back to the front lines in the war on terror, Kathleen is determined to pursue her new career, with or without his approval. Unfortunately, her current case is far more dangerous than anyone knows. Someone close to Blane will go to extreme lengths to split them up, lengths that may prove worse than death for Kathleen.

Kathleen, Blane and Kade must atone for the sins of the past and the present. The fallout will force Kathleen to a turning point…in her career, and her life.

OutOfTurn_Final_small

AVAILABLE DECEMBER 17 on Kindle:  http://tinyurl.com/kturner-oot

Breaking up is hard to do, as Kathleen Turner discovers. After a falling-out with her ex, high-powered attorney Blane Kirk, she’s moving on the best she can. Unfortunately, someone from her past is set on revenge and nothing short of killing Kathleen will stop them.

Keeping his brother’s ex-girlfriend alive isn’t something new to assassin-for-hire Kade Dennon, but this time can he protect her from himself? She’s a woman he can’t convince himself to walk away from, no matter what it costs him.

Regret is a constant companion for Blane as he realizes the truth behind the lies he’s been told. Can love heal the past, or can some mistakes not be undone?

Murder reunites Blane, Kade, and Kathleen as the police put Blane in their crosshairs. Blane may lose everything unless he and Kade can find the real murderer before it’s too late. But if they can’t set aside their love for the same woman and work together, it will tear them apart.

In Out of Turn, Kathleen is caught between two warring brothers, and the consequences may be fatal.

TiffanySnowABOUT THE AUTHOR:

My debut novel, NO TURNING BACK, is the first book in The Kathleen Turner Series. I write about things I love to read myself – a heroine who could be a neighbor or best friend; two men who each portray their own version of darkness and light, each vying for her affection; and a story that focuses as much on the characters as it does the suspense. NO TURNING BACK, TURN TO ME, TURNING POINT and OUT OF TURN currently comprise The Kathleen Turner Series. The fifth and final book, POINT OF NO RETURN, will be released in May, 2014. A companion novel, TURN ON A DIME – BLANE’S TURN, is also available.

As for me, I’ve been reading romance novels since I was way too young to read such things, have an unhealthy obsession for all things Doctor Who, prefer Pepsi to Coke and Absolut to both, think men who drink girly cocktails are wusses, have learned to never stop believing in my beloved St. Louis Cardinals, and can recite the entire scripts of When Harry Met Sally and Apollo 13. George Washington is cool, Bon Jovi still rocks the house, and Bruce Willis is the ultimate alpha-male hero. Most of all, romance never, ever gets old.

Research for the Night Stalkers series

There are stories inside an author’s comfort zone and outside. There are stories that we could tell from the world we know. And then there are the stories we need to tell even though we don’t know the world. When that happens, when the author doesn’t have that direct knowledge, I think there are three real options open to them:

  1. To “wave their hands.” I’ve read authors who can do this magnificently. Many of these writers land in the fantasy world. “I’m telling you a military story, but I’m setting it in an elfen realm so that I can work with the emotions, not the hard facts of reality.” These can be future set, alternate reality, or a myriad of other paths as well.
  2. Down the middle. These authors will do sufficient research to make it sound real, but again, there is a certain amount of distraction of the reader with other events rather than going down into the details. This allows them to come at the story and worry less about the details of the world.
  3. I always choose the third path, maximum realism. I do everything I can to make the background information as real and accurate as possible. In Take Over at Midnight there is a scene where they crash land on an oil rig. I spent days studying the different models located in the Gulf of Mexico, how their helipads were positioned, how high were they out of the water while actually working a site, and so on.

Setting out to write a story in this third style has more challenges than finding out the information; the Internet has solved many of those issues. Reading many books and doing the occasional personal interview plugs the holes. Granted, there is the challenge for a writer to not get lost in the research and forget that their job is actually to do the writing. I admit, I have occasionally looked up and realized I’ve lost a day or more, but that doesn’t happen very often, for it is the storytelling I love and not the research.

The real challenge of research for me? Figuring out when not to use it. I have ten times the detail that I put in the books. I’ve read Black Hawk service manuals that have allowed me to add a dozen paragraphs over four novels. I have also read a single article and watched two three-minute videos in order to install the pivotal ADAS camera technology in my earlier book, Wait Until Dark, the third Night Stalkers novel that alters the very course of the love story.

So, perhaps the oddest bit of research I do is studying just how much research I can do without and still make the story feel real.

Top Ten Things to Look for in a Dom

Let me start off by saying that I truly, deeply admire you for stepping outside of your comfort zone and exploring your needs and sexuality. Kudos to you for having the strength to take that first step. 🙂  I talk with readers everyday who dream of finding a Dom like the ones I write about- you know, hot, hung, and sexual psychics like Ivan from ‘Ivan’s Captive Submissive’. That man could sell a ketchup Popsicle to a woman wearing white loves. Anyways, they potential submissives have these wonderful romantic fantasies about finding him and everything clicking into place, the planets going into alignment, and rainbows and firecrackers shooting from their ass in glee. Sadly, this isn’t always what happens. Outside the pages of a book everyone, even Doms, are human and have human eccentricities and failings that make us wonderful…and not so wonderful.

Before you start chatting with a stranger on Fetlife or attend your first local BDSM meet and greet it’s good to keep a few things in mind about your potential partner before you hand them the key to your heart.

Things to Look For

1)  These apply to any potential suitor you meet, but they are so important that I have to include them here. You want a man with a job, a home, and a car. Shallow? Not really. If he can’t provide for himself he probably can’t provide for you either.

2) He is patient. Things won’t always go well inside and outside of the dungeon and you don’t want a man who loses his shit while your bound up and unable to defend yourself.

3) Maturity. This kinda ties in with number two. Mature men are just that, men, not little boys still trying to find their way in the world. This is not to say that every man that is fifty is going to be mature and every man who is twenty will be immature, but you want a Dom who has either had a bit of experience or is willing to learn along with you from an experienced Dom. There are tons of BDSM groups out there that will help you and your partner learn the ropes…get it…learn the ropes…-snork-

4) He loves you AND your life. A good Dom will never, ever, try to isolate you from the ones you love. While he may not adore your family the way you do, he will never try to remove them from your life and prevent contact. If he ever says ‘If you loved me you wouldn’t talk to xxx anymore’ run for the hills.

5) He is aware of the human body and its limitations. While most of us would love to be as limber as a Russian ballerina, we just aren’t. Your Dom should know about the dangers of restraints and how much damage can be done by tying or restraining you in certain positions for any amount of time.

6) He wants you inside and outside of the dungeon. Unless being a fuck toy is what you’re looking for make sure you see each other in the real world. Can you have dinner with him and not just sit and stare at your plate because your vegetables are more interesting to have a conversation with than he is? It’s easy to get caught up in the rush of a new relationship, but you can only have sex for so long before you have to talk.

7) He will never make you do things you don’t want to do. Ok, I’m not talking about pushing your limits or sticking his pinky in your butt when you said you didn’t think you liked anal sex. I’m talking about making you do things against your will that you don’t want to do. It is ok if sometimes you just don’t want to have sex or play in the dungeon. While in romance books the hero would pull some magical sexual elixir out of his ass and change your mind, in the real world you get sick, you get tired, and sometimes you just want to cuddle and be held. If he forces you to have sex and you say no and safeword out, that is rape.

8) He’ll be ok about taking things slow and getting to know each other before strapping you to the St. Andrew’s Cross. Just because you don’t drop to your knees and blow him at your first opportunity doesn’t make you a bad sub, it makes him an asshole. He should be interested in you, not just what you can do for him as a fuck toy. Even if you just want to be his fuck toy, make sure he sees you as a human being. One of the main personality traits in serial killers is that they don’t view people as people, but as objects. Don’t let anyone make you an object.

9) He has a sense of humor. Seriously, this is important. So much of life is filled with ‘you’re either going to laugh or cry’ moments and you want a man with you that is going to make you laugh. Fifty years down the road when gravity has taken that fine ass south a bit you’ll be glad you have a Dom who can still make you giggle.

10) Educated. I’m not saying that he has to hold a Masters degree, but you want a man who you can hold a conversation with. Intelligence is sexy and in BDSM essential. You want a Dom who is smart enough to push you when you need to be pushed, wise enough to back off and cuddle you when you need a cuddle, and intelligent enough to not bore you to tears when he isn’t fucking you. 😉

I hope this list has helped you a bit in your efforts to find a Dom. At the end of the day it’s just you and the man on the other side of the whip so make sure it is someone worthy of your submission. You are special, beautiful, and something to be cherished. You deserve a man who treats you as such. Now, let’s take a look at what the beauty of your submission means to a man who truly values his submissive.

EXCERPT from ‘Ivan’s Captive Submissive’

Making a low, hungry growl, Ivan came onto the bed and grabbed her ankle, hauling her towards him as if she weighed no more than the pillows surrounding her. Without preamble, he shoved her legs open, his broad shoulders stretching her wide. The soft, warm brush of his lips against her inner thigh had her moaning softly and she abandoned herself to his touch, letting him do whatever he wanted to her. It wasn’t like she had much of a choice…or that’s what she told herself when guilt at her lack of resistance tried to intrude on the moment. She ground her pussy against his mouth and he nipped her labia hard enough to hurt.

He smiled at her pained moan and looked up at her. “You have such a beautiful cunt. My cunt.”

He nuzzled the mound of her pubic bone, rubbing the stubble of his chin against her in an altogether pleasurable manner. Her ass burned and she shifted, trying to get more comfortable. Making a displeased sound he slapped her thigh.

“Be still.”

She froze. Then, unable to help herself, she arched as his mouth sealed on her swollen sex. He could hold her pussy in his mouth all at once, and his touch felt sinfully good. He didn’t tease or nibble, instead, he ate her with an aggression that curled her toes. He began to suckle that tender bundle of nerves, driving her crazy. She moaned and thrashed beneath his onslaught, unable to control her own body. His licks gentled, becoming soothing strokes that only served to drive her higher.

“Master, please, you feel so good. May I come?”

He didn’t lift his mouth from her sex, only shook his head. She groaned in frustration and curled her legs around his shoulders, drawing him closer. Setting her heels against his back, she began to rock her pelvis against his greedy mouth, moaning with abandon as he began to press his thick tongue into her sheath. Her pussy clamped down on him, and when he pulled away, she moaned in distress.

Sitting back on the bed, he began to unbuckle his pants, then paused and looked at her where she was writhing against the comforter, her legs scissoring in an effort to alleviate the muscle-clenching need he’d unleashed in her. Damn, give the man five minutes eating her pussy, and she was ready to do anything and everything he wanted. Feeling wanton, she crawled across the bed towards him and sat back on her heels with her thighs spread, giving him an unimpeded view of her wet sex.

“How may I serve you, Master?”

He smiled, a slight dimple deepening next to his mouth that she hadn’t seen before. “I want you to ride me, dorogaya.”

Sliding out of his pants, he turned his hip so she couldn’t get a good view of his cock.

Bastard.

“Close your eyes and do not open them until you are about to come.”

Confused, she did as he asked, feeling very vulnerable without her sight to aid her. A moment later the bed shifted, and with a gentle touch, he pulled her along with him until the crisp hair of his thighs tickled against her. His warm scent enveloped her and she yearned to feel his body pinning hers to the bed.

“Lift your leg.”

She did as he commanded and he grasped her hips, moving her onto his lap as easily as a doll. A moment later, she heard the foil of a condom wrapper tear. When he pulled her closer the hard, very thick length of him rubbed against her slit and belly.

Dear God, the man was hung like a bull, too.

“Grasp my cock and put it inside of you, slowly. You have no choice. I am your Master and you will obey me.”

She groaned and reached between them, her senses heightened by her lack of sight. The smooth, spongy tip of his dick sheathed in latex met her questing fingertips and he tensed beneath her, already hard muscle turning to steel. She’d love to look at him right now, to see his expression and know if she was pleasing him. As messed up as it was, she wanted to make him feel good.

Lifting herself slightly, she rubbed the thick head of his erection back and forth through her slit, lubricating him and driving both of them crazy. He had much better patience than she did, because not once did he try to shove into her or jerk her down on him. Instead, he let her play and tease until she was panting.

Unfulfilled need made her aggressive, wanting him in deep right now. She placed the head of his cock against her sheath and prepared to slam herself down on him. He was thick, very thick, and it would hurt, but, fuck, she needed him to fill her. To give her an anchor to hold onto as she floated in the dark depths of her mind.

Before she could sheathe him, he gripped her hips and held her immobile, poised over his body.

Holy shit, he was strong.

Ever so slowly he lowered her until the fat mushroom cap of the head of his cock rubbed just inside of her entrance. The sensation almost had her eyes rolling back her head and she gasped. With a pleased rumble he lowered her a little more, now almost halfway inside of her. Then he pulled almost all the way back out and she groaned in frustration.

“Beg for it, my beautiful girl.”

“Oh God, Master, please fuck me. Please fill me up with your cock, ease the ache that you’ve left in my body. I want to come with you inside of me, I want to feel you all over me, surrounding me. I’ve been good, please.” She squeezed down her vaginal muscles, saying a thank you to kegel exercises, and delighted in his growl. “I want to milk that big dick of yours while you come inside of me.”

She braced her hands on his chest and he removed his hands from her hips. “You please me very much, my Gia. Show me the beauty of your willing submission.”

About the Author

Ann is Queen of the Castle to her wonderful husband and three sons in the mountains of   West Virginia. In her past lives she’s been an Import Broker, a Communications Specialist,   a US Navy Civilian Contractor, a Bartender/Waitress, and an actor at the Michigan   Renaissance Festival. She also spent a summer touring with the Grateful Dead-though she   will deny to her children that it ever happened.

From a young age she’s been fascinated by myths and fairytales, and the romance that   often  was the center of the story. As Ann grew older and her hormones kicked in, she   discovered trashy romance novels. Great at first, but she soon grew tired of the endless   stories with a big wonderful emotional buildup to really short and crappy sex. Never a big fan of purple prose, throbbing spears of fleshy pleasure and wet honey pots make her giggle, she sought out books that gave the sex scenes in the story just as much detail and plot as everything else-without using cringe worthy euphemisms. This led her to the wonderful world of Erotic Romance, and she’s never looked back.

Now Ann spends her days trying to tune out cartoons playing in the background to get into her ‘sexy space’ and has learned to type one handed while soothing a cranky baby.

REAVER

by Larissa Ione

reaver

Amazon | Barnes & Noble  IndieBound

December 17, 2013; Grand Central Publishing Mass Market; $8.00; 978-1-4555-2697-0

Reaver is an angel with a past, a record, and a less-than-heavenly attitude. Powerful enough to fight alongside the fiercest battle angels-and crazy enough to risk his wings on a one-way mission to hell-he’s agreed to go where no angel has ever gone before . . . to steal the most seductive and dangerous prize of Satan himself.

Harvester is one of the Fallen, a once-heroic angel who sacrificed her wings to work as an undercover agent in hell. But now her cover has been blown, and she’s doomed to an eternity of agonizing torture. Even if Reaver can snatch her away from Satan’s lair, even if they can fight their way out of the underworld’s darkest depths, there is one thing Harvester can never escape-her newfound thirst for an angel’s blood. . .

Don’t miss Kelly’s review of Reaver HERE

Excerpt:

“R-Reaver?”

Reaver held Harvester’s frail body tight against his as he navigated the final steps of a winding ledge that dropped them into a world of weird. “It’s me. It’s okay. We’re safe.”

Relatively safe, anyway. Relative meaning that they weren’t dead. Yet. He just hoped the same could be said for Tavin, Matt, and Calder. When he’d left them to sneak into Satan’s realm, they’d been engaged in a battle they’d initiated as a diversion. It had been a risky move, and Reaver could only pray they’d make it to the rendezvous point.

A hunter’s horn sounded in the distance and was answered by another, closer horn signal. Satan’s minions hadn’t gained ground, but they were spreading out. Damn.

He scanned the landscape of thorny plants, hills of blackened earth and trees, and twisted, abandoned structures. Nothing moved.

He looked down at Harvester, and as before when he first saw her hanging over a pit of acid, he felt sick to his stomach. He didn’t like Harvester even though he was grateful for the things she’d done, but she didn’t deserve this; her naked body too thin and mottled with bruises and ligature marks, her once silken black hair tangled and dull, and worst of all, missing her gorgeous green eyes.

Under ideal circumstances, an angel could heal from even the most heinous injuries within hours. But these were far from ideal circumstances, and Harvester’s source of power, her wings, had been severed. Without wings or medical assistance, it could take weeks, even months, for an angel’s body to fully heal.

“I can’t risk healing you more than I did,” he said. “My power isn’t reliable right now, and I could do more harm than good.”

“Reaver,” she croaked, as if he hadn’t spoken. “Why…how…”

“Shh.” He tucked her face into his chest, quieting her. “We’re going to meet up with some friends, and then I’ll answer all your questions.”

Reaver and the assassins had worked out a plan A and a plan B. Plan A had been shot to hell when iron gates had prevented Reaver from getting out of Satan’s realm to the south, where his companions would have been waiting. Now, with demons in pursuit, they were on their way to plan B. Hopefully Tav, Matt, and Calder had realized quickly that Reaver’s escape route had gone bad.

Inhaling the stench of rotten vegetation that permeated this section of Sheoul, he started away from the skeletons of some burned-out buildings and toward a mountain range as expansive as the Rockies. He moved swiftly, outrunning the sounds of pursuit and pausing once to blast a group of imps with a ball of lightning. The sphere struck the leader, and from there sent electrical strikes at each of the surrounding imps, frying them all in a handy eight-for-one.

Harvester slept in his arms, barely stirring when he stopped to listen for anyone following them. By the time they neared the plan B meeting site, Reaver was sure they’d lost the demons—temporarily. Reaver wasn’t naive enough to think they were off the hook. The demons chasing them were only the first wave, the security detail unlucky enough to be guarding the dungeon Harvester was kept in.

Once Satan got wind of this, if he hadn’t already, Reaver and Harvester were going to have legions of minions on their heels.

In her new job as a private eye, former police sketch artist Rory McCain has a spirited partner: Old West marshal Zeke Drummond. He may be a ghost, but when these two combine their skills, they reap justice…

Trouble has sprouted at Harper Farms. Top secret info has been leaked to the competition, and now there’s serious sabotage cropping up. So the farm’s beleaguered owner, Gil Harper, has called on Rory to dig up some dirt. But what Rory discovers raises a new field of questions…

Someone shucked Harper’s accountant and left his body in the farm’s corn maze. While Gil is quick to hire Rory to solve now not one but two crimes, the sketching sleuth isn’t so sure why the farmer wants her to focus her attention on his own family.

Regardless, Rory and Zeke will need to put their hands to the plow and solve this case before someone else is planted six feet under…

About the Author:

sharonI started writing stories as soon as I learned how to put letters together to form words. From that day forward, writing has been a part of my life whether it was my first attempt at a novel in seventh grade or the little plays I wrote for my friends to perform for neighbors and family. After college, when I was busy teaching French and Spanish to high school students, I was also writing poetry — some of it in French.

After several years, I left teaching to be a full time mom, and when my two children started school, I went back to writing. To my delight I found that the muse was still there, still waiting patiently for me to come around. My first novel, Ghostfire, was published at that time. It went on to be condensed in Redbook magazine (the first paperback original the magazine had ever condensed.) Then came The God Children and The Portal. Redbook also published my first short story, which was subsequently sold to several foreign magazines. With two great kids, a golden retriever and a loving, supportive husband (whom I’d met at the beach when I was fourteen — but that’s a story for another day), I felt like I was exactly where I was meant to be in my life. But fate had another plan for me, and it went by the name of “breast cancer.”

Looking back, I realize how fortunate I was that the cancer was discovered at such an early stage, but at the time it was all very overwhelming. Once I was back on my feet, I wanted to help other women who were newly diagnosed, worried and afraid. I became a Reach to Recovery volunteer for the American Cancer Society and went on to run the program for Nassau and Suffolk Counties on Long Island. A number of years later, with the help of my surgical oncologist and two other volunteers, I started Lean On Me, a nonprofit organization that provides peer support and information to breast cancer patients. When Lean On Me celebrated its tenth anniversary it no longer required as much of my time, and I once again found myself free to pursue my first love — writing.

Jennifer’s Review of Sketcher in the Rye

Review (4.5 Stars):  I have never read this series before and after I introduced myself to her first book, Sketch Me If You Can, I was instantly a fan.  In Sketcher in the Rye, Rory has been hired by Gil Harper to find out who is behind the sabotage at Harper Farms.  What Rory finds is a dead body and more than a handful of suspects.  While she investigates the murder, she soon finds that she is being followed and receiving threatening messages to stop her investigation. Hopefully, Rory and her ghostly partner, Zeke, can find the murderer before Rory becomes the next victim.

I love this series and I’m so sorry that it took me a while to find it.  Rory is a fun, sassy character, who is partners with a ghost that she inherited after her uncle’s death.  I love how she is still dealing with Zeke’s new abilities and trying to be a single woman while living with an old-fashioned guy from the 1800’s.  Sketcher in the Rye is a hilarious and entertaining mystery with zany characters that will make you an instant fan of this delightful series.

KimKim welcome back to Books-n-Kisses, can you please share with us a little about yourself

Sure. I’m a computer programmer turned romance writer, who sits home in her pajamas now and tries hard not to have to leave the house.

Have you always wanted to be an author?

Always. I loved stories as a kid, and started writing them in elementary school. I even submitted a story to Highlights magazine when I was 11. It didn’t get picked up J But I was already out there trying!

Are you a plotter or a punster or combo of both? And you explain the difference?

I’m totally a plotter. Some people can have a nugget of an idea and just sit down and write by the seat of their pants. Not me! I need to know who my characters are, what their story is, and where in the world it’s going. It sometimes changes during the writing of the story, but then I go back to the drawing board and re-plot the rest of it. I often even outline each individual scene before I write it!

What is your most interesting writing quirk?

Preferring to write with no pants on. I’ve almost answered the door in all my pantless wonder before. Thankfully, I caught myself in time!

Can you please tell us about your latest book(s)?

I would love to! Sweet Nothings is a favorite of mine. It’s book two in my Sugar Springs series, set in the small TN town of Sugar Springs, and follows the twin brother of book one’s hero, and the best friend of book one’s heroine.

In this book, it kind of freaked Joanie out to find herself all hot and bothered over a guy who looks like her best friend’s fiancé, but that doesn’t hold her back for long. Nick and Joanie are complete opposites. She’s all about lack of commitment, he’s all about commitment. She wants fun. He wants forever. Together they do have a lot of fun, and yet Joanie learns a whole heck a lot about herself in the process. There’s cats, gossip, community bets, hot sex, sweetness and tenderness, a third brother, and a love that will last forever. Oh…and Nick’s a construction worker. And he has abs of steel. J

How did you come with the idea for this story?

This book got rewritten twice, but the basis of the story stayed all the way through. A woman who wouldn’t commit, and a guy who wanted nothing but commitment. I liked the twist because that’s the opposite of what you often get in a story. As for how I came up with it? I had Joanie from book one. She was a bit of a flake, but she had a good heart. She also showed up with commitment issues. So it was easy to see who would be the worst person for her!

Can you share with us your current work(s) in progress?

I just finished the first draft on book three for this series. It’ll be called Sprinkles on Top, and should be out in July 2014. But right now I’m working on a cowboy novella. It’s my first foray into writing a cowboy, and I have to tell you, I’m quite excited by it! He’s a bad boy cowboy J And I’m already in love with him.

Who is the one author that you would love to meet someday and why?

Stephen King. I’d love to hang with him and hear that his process can be as crazy as mine J

What is the best piece of advice you would give to someone that wants to get into writing?

It’s hard, frustrating, and often demoralizing. Don’t get into it unless you can’t keep from it J It’s some of the hardest work I’ve ever done, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I also don’t think I could ever quit if I tried. Unless you feel that way, for your own sanity, rethink your decision 😉 (Because you will go a little nuts as a writer!)

Can you share with us something off your bucket list.

Here’s one that should be easy to mark off, yet I never have. Take a hot-air balloon ride. Preferably a long one!

What is in your To Read Pile that you are dying to start or upcoming release you can’t wait for?

Too many to even know! I plan to start attacking that pile again really soon. I’m actually looking forward to seeing what all I’ve downloaded to my Kindle over the last couple of months that I’ve forgotten about.

What is one book everyone should read before they die?

Oh geez…will I sound stupid if I don’t have an answer? I just think people should read, period. It drives me crazy (and worries me at the same time) when I hear someone say they don’t read or don’t like to read. I can’t imagine not having a magical world to disappear into. Those people are missing out!!

What is your favorite time of year & why?

I love the fall. I like the nip in the air and the smell of the drying leaves. I wish I could spend every day outdoors during the fall. J

Who is your Celebrity crush?  And what would you do if you ever meet them?

Bradley Cooper. And I’d probably giggle and smile a lot. And then giggle some more.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Just thank you for having me!!!

Joanie Bigbee, cupcake baker extraordinaire, likes to keep her options open–and she’s good at it. She’s started and sold some 30 businesses in her postage stamp-sized Tennessee town, and at the moment she can be found in a short skirt and go-go boots, selling cupcakes out of the back of a converted Volkswagen van. What she moves on to next is anybody’s guess. She knows better than to be tied down. In any way. She’s watched every woman in her family fall head-over-heels, only to find themselves wondering how to pick up the pieces when love is lost.

When Nick Dalton shows up at the groovy cupcakery, all Joanie wants is a taste; a fling with no strings suits her just fine. But for Nick, a bite is not enough; he wants the whole cake: a big house, a family, true love. But love only makes you stupid, right? Joanie has to decide whether to follow where her free-spirit leads? or hold on to the sweetest thing she’s ever known.

Jennifer’s Review of Cursed By Destiny

Review (5 Stars):  In this book, Celia is still dealing with the heartbreak of losing Aric and has been staying as a platonic house guest with master vampire, Misha.  After the events of A Cursed Embrace, Celia and her sisters have been worried about a possible retaliation from the supernatural Tribemasters that reeked havoc in their world. The only safe place for Celia is with Misha, even though her ex-boyfriend, Aric, isn’t happy with this living arrangement.  What they soon find out is that something unspeakable is hunting Celia and wants her dead and will stop at nothing to make sure that happens.  Even if it means destroying the people that she cares about along the way.

I LOVE this series and I can’t say enough wonderful things about the Weird sisters.  This book picks up right after the heart-wrenching ending of A Cursed Embrace which just about killed me.  I still want to smack Aric over the head because he belongs with Celia and now is days away from marrying another woman to appease his Elders.  Celia is such a wonderful character to me, strong, smart, loving and at times vulnerable.  She is so good at protecting the people around her but can’t seem to find the same happiness that her sisters have found in the love department.  Cecy Robson does a great job of portraying that emotional heartbreak and it makes me love Celia all the more.

Cursed By Destiny is an exciting installment to the already amazing Weird Sisters series.  Cecy Robson has done a wonderful job creating this  fascinating paranormal world that will make you fall in love with her characters and have you wanting more after finishing the last page of her books.  If you haven’t read her books, you are missing out because this is an author to watch.  Can’t wait to read the next book in her series and I’m sad to say it won’t be out soon enough for me.

Jennifer’s Review of Heartache Motel

Review (4 Stars): Each of these entertaining stories revolve around the Heartache Motel, a seedy establishment located near Graceland where numerous characters find themselves involved in mysteries while trying to enjoy some much needed time off.  The first story, Diners Keepers, Losers Weepers was a fun story where Rose and her friends visit the Heartache Motel on the way to Graceland during the holidays.  They soon find themselves involved in a murder of an Elvis impersonator and some missing jewels.  This was my favorite story of all of them just because I loved the humor and the characters.  Between the drag queens and stoned travel companions, this was a delightful story that makes me want to read more about these characters.

The second story is called Quick Sketch, which is a mystery involving an artist and her poker playing boyfriend looking to help a friend that was swindled out of his money during a poker game.  I liked how Cherry found herself in interesting situations especially with a drag queen named Priscilla and it kept me guessing until the end.

The last story is called Dateline Memphis where crime reporter, Nichelle Clarke finds herself in the middle of a robbery while visiting Graceland.  During her tour, she discovers that one of the King’s prized possessions was switched with a fake replica and she is hunt for the true culprit.  This was also a fun story and I can’t wait to learn more about this character in future books.

Heartache Motel was an enjoyable read that introduced me to new characters that I thought were fun and entertaining.  Looking forward to reading more from these authors in the future because I was definitely hooked after reading these stories.
