Angela chuckled. Scarab Publishing was her beloved clan’s main source of income, and in the seven years since becoming alpha, Angela had used her rare combination of business acumen, artistic vision, and good old-fashioned charm to make it one of the most respected – and successful – publishing houses in the Western hemisphere. Securing the rights to Ena Mercant’s private estate and personal vault on the PsyNet had been StarSerif’s biggest coup to date, and if she hadn’t already known the world was waiting with breathless anticipation for the chance to finally learn the details of the brilliant recluse’s life, the countless media requests she’d been receiving for interviews and soundbites would have made it clear as day.
She dashed off a quick reply to Tanya:

Speaking of smells… Angela’s awareness prickled as she realized a certain smell had crept into her recording studio – not a metaphorical smell, either. No, this was the very real scent of cedar and eucalyptus and fresh mountain air, and another subtle note she’d yet to put her finger on. Despite having only met him twice, she would have known his scent anywhere: Constantinos Nicolaides, the human CEO of Galaxy Publishing, a man known as much for his curious combination of shocking good looks and disdain for romance as he was for his ruthless business dealings.
Galaxy, the largest publisher in the world, had been trying to acquire StarSerif Publishing for the better part of a year now. Normally, Constantinos Nicolaides controlled every aspect of Galaxy’s dealings from his reputedly opulent office suite on the top floor of the company’s headquarters in Chicago, but he’d made the unprecedented decision to take on the StarSerif’s negotiations in person after Angela and her three closest lieutenants, Mikael Naramore, Dick Hill, and Karen White, had all but laughed a lower-ranking Galaxy representative out of the room when, during a meeting in a Detroit hotel conference room, the poor man had suggested they sell out to the larger company.
Now she felt her blood rush inexplicably at the awareness of his presence, and in the instant before turning around to face him, she tried to deduce what tactic he was employing by showing up here today. The fact that Nicolaides had come unannounced to StarSerif’s hive, nestled in the beautiful “up north” region of Michigan’s lower peninsula, was not entirely shocking to her; the element of surprise could be useful in business negotiations. But the fact he’d made it into her her studio space without tripping any alarms or revealing himself to any of the sentries who would have informed her of his presence as soon as they’d become aware of it, made her wonder who exactly she was dealing with. Why would a hotshot publishing tycoon possess the stealth of a predator?
One thing Angela knew for sure: she was no man’s prey…

For those that may not know you, why don’t we start by having you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you became an author?
Okay… here it goes!
I write because the people inside my head won’t leave me alone until I give them life on paper. I write snarky, sexy, funny paranormal and snarky, sexy, funny contemporaries. My addictions include laughing really hard with friends, shoes (the expensive kind), Target, Coke Zero Cherry with rabbit turd ice in a Yeti cup, bejeweled reading glasses, my kids, my super-hot hubby and collecting stray animals. I was a former professional actress, with Broadway, film and T.V. credits. I now live in the south with my family and too many animals to count. Writing gives me peace and makes me whole, plus having a job where I can work in my underpants works really well for me.
As of today you currently have 23 audiobooks listed on Audible. What made you decide to turn your books into audiobooks.
I adore audio books and I wanted my own! LOL. I’ve been lucky to have had brilliant narrators bring my words to life and it delights me to no end to hear their interpretations.
Are you involved in the casting of your audiobooks and if so how do you go about selecting your narrators?
I’m very involved. Four of my series are produced through Audible and one through ACX. I have lists of narrators that I love and have gone after them! Thankfully everyone has said yes.
What do you love/like about audiobooks?
Everything. I do love to read a book first. I like to let my own imagination figure out what I hear and see. I’m a little weird like that. LOL
After I read then I will listen. I’m always amazed by things I missed. I love hearing another interpretation. PLUS it makes long car rides zip along.
Are you a Plotter or Pantser and how does that affect your writing?
100% Pantser. A major point of joy for me in writing is not knowing what comes next. I love being surprised. The most difficult part of a book for me to write is the end. I know what has to happen and there are no more surprises left. If I ever get stuck, I know I made a wrong turn. I simply back up a chapter and take off again.
We often hear (or read on social media) the authors speak about going off to their “writing cave” …. Do you have one and if so, what does it look like? What are your must have items?
I have several caves. I write best at home or in my car. Seriously. I have written many books waiting for my kids at their activities! I have a very cozy office with a fireplace and I’m in there all winter. However, in the spring and summer I write outside. I have a gazebo that I adore and my back porch is my other go-to spot. I can see all my flowers and I like listening to the birds. LOL
As far as must have items… I love coke (the drink not the drug LOL) in a Yeti cup with rabbit turd ice. And when my brain is tired, I play Soda Candy Crush. Sadly, I’m very good at it…
Can you tell us a little about your upcoming release.
It’s called Tallulah’s Temptation and it comes out June 21, 2018. The easiest way to tell you is to give you the blurb…. So here it is!

What in the Chicken of the Sea was I thinking to agree to this half arsed Otherworld Defense Agency mission?
I’m the most absurdly good looking Vampire Pirate of the High Seas. Being on the run for my life is very important work… and a freaking full time job. Defending Mermaids from some vicious Sea Hags is going to cut into my pilfering time.
Unacceptable.
Even though this is a very bad move on my part, I know I’ll eventually agree—too many bounties on my arse to refuse, and the thought of a certain Mermaid makes my roger quite jolly.
However, Tallulah, the leader of the Mystical Isle Pod of Mermaids, isn’t going to be happy to see me… at all. The horrible, sexy, breathtaking woman has been starring in my dreams for too many years to count. Sadly, just when my mind wanders to the really good nookie part, the dream ends with her lopping my Johnson off.
I just hope to Hell and back that the Sea Hags have some outstanding booty to steal. If I’m going to have to regrow my tallywhacker, the treasure had better damned well be worth it.

Running a tourist trap for humans in the Bermuda Triangle had sounded like a fine plan—until it wasn’t. With the Sea Hags gunning for our island and ruining our questionably successful business, I did what any desperate Mermaid would do. I called for backup.
Of course, getting help from the Otherworld Defense Agency is risky as they don’t usually deal with ocean creatures. Whatever. Desperate times call for crappy measures. Chances are they’ll send freaking Pirates. I hate Pirates…
Well, I hate one Pirate in particular.
Hopefully, it won’t be the one seafaring jackhole I despise more than any other. Pirate Doug would be an idiot to show his face here after what he’d done. Not only did the dumbass abscond with our treasure, the son-of-a-bitch took my heart with him as well.
I’ll tear his sorry ass to shreds if he so much as steps even one hairy toe on my island.

What are you working on next?
I have a new series called Sea Shenanigans. It’s part of the Love Spells Collection that I’m in with a bunch of other fantabulous comedic paranormal authors. I have four Sea Shenanigans books coming out this summer. They’re about Pirates and Mermaids… nuff said. LOL Book One, Tallulah’s Temptation, comes out June 21, 2018. Book Two, Ariel’s Antics, comes out July 12, 2018. Book Three, Misty’s Mayhem, comes out August 16, 2018. And Book Four, Madison’s Mess, comes out September 13, 2018. ALSO… Fashionably Fabulous will be coming out late fall 2018. The good news is all of these books will also be in audio!

For those that may not know you, why don’t we start by having you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you became a narrator?
I am theatre trained actress that got into narrating audiobooks about five years ago. An old theatre colleague recommended I try it & I loved it! I also spent a few years working at an “adult novelty” store, so I have a big heart-on for sex self-help books. There is so much to learn about sex & intimacy… I find the psychology around it fascinating. Plus, the “accessories” one can discover to amp up pleasure is fun, too!
Do you narrator full time? Are there other voice over jobs you’ve done (still doing)?
I am a full-time narrator. Yeah! Recently, I started auditioning for some animation projects just to get a feel for it. I’ve been cast in two projects that are being worked on. One should be out by the end of the year, with the other having pre-view clips by then, too. I’m pretty excited about it.
Do you record at home or use studios? (tell us a little bit about your home studio..)
I am fortunate to have a home studio. It’s a Studio Bricks one. LOVE. IT. It’s been so much easier to record since I got it. (I live fairly close to an airport, so when the planes went by, I had to stop recording until they went past. Such a time suck!)
What do you love/like about audiobooks?
I love reading books from new authors. It’s been such a lovely experience to narrate for them. And, as I meet more and more fellow narrators, I’m listening to their work, in all kinds of genres. The talent out there is staggering!
Many of us are a sucker for accents! What is your favorite accent to perform? Which accent is the hardest for you to perform?
It’s fun doing accents. I’ve done several, but Texan, Irish, and French are my favorites. Australian is my downfall… It starts off great, but by the end of the sentence, it’s melded into Cockney.
How do you prep for a new book? (i.e. read the full book?)
I read the manuscript, take notes on characters (age, accents, character traits), review any notes the author or publisher may have provided, research any words/phrases/locations I am unfamiliar with, then head to the booth to record.
How do you select how the characters are going to sound/their tones?
The descriptions authors provide are the key. There is so much information to be gleaned from a manuscript. Then I add my interpretation to figure out where to place the voice for each character.
How do you manage or what is your process of remember what the character from a previous book sounds like when they reappear in a new book (or if not part of a series, but standalone, characters as they pop in and out of the story)?
I keep all my hand-written notes for review, then go back & listen to clips to remind myself of the characters voice. If I know it will be a series, I ask in advance if there are returning characters to help with that, too.
What is your favorite sub-genre of Romance to perform?
Hmmm…. I enjoy sex-self help books, as that can lead to all kinds of heightened romance for the listeners, Along with erotica that shows respect for all the players in the book.
Is there a genre that you have yet to narrate in that you’d like to?
I’ve not yet narrated a paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi romance. It would be fun to try something like that.
When you’re not working… what do you do for fun?
Sit outside & enjoy the sun! Being in a small, dark booth all day really makes you appreciate being out in nature.
What are you working on next? (NOTE: this will be published in June)
Just finished two novels from Lauren Gallagher, “All the King’s Horses” and “The Best Laid Plans,” co-narrated with the wonderful Michael Ferraiuolo. Plus, the “Vegas Heat” series by Erika Wilde will be out soon. More projects in the works, too.
