Love and Kitty.
Sounds like the beginning of a bad joke. But this is no joke just another day in the life of Kitty Katt-Martini saving the world.

I think if I could be one heroine I would choose to be Kitty. Not only is her husband smoking, her daughter beyond cute and she gets to hang out with my love Christopher, Kitty is a total kick ass person. And as always Ms. Koch gives us an amazing fun story filled with humor, sarcasm, action and Kitty and crew in kick ass mode.

In Alien vs Alien Kitty has to fight to clear her name while protecting her family and friends. I love reading about Jeff and Kitty’s love for each other. It reminded me so much of why I loved this series to begin with.

Oh and lest us not forget Chuckie!! Oh now we can’t forget something so important as Chuckie find love. YAY!!!! I am so glad that he is happy now and not pining after Kitty anymore.

I can’t wait to see what happens next.

REVIEW:
4.5 Hearts Wow! I was not expecting this book! You know how sometimes you’re just chugging along like any other day and then BAM! you get smacked in the face by the unexpected and you just can’t look away? Yep, that was this book! The very first page has you scratching your head and wondering what on earth is going on… You get the answers…oh do you get the answers – but the way it plays out is amazing! This book is about Zach finding out that he isn’t exactly human and that his existence threatens the entire planet and everyone on it. Zach meets Sam and Grigory who begin to unravel the crazy history leading up to Zach’s existence and all the while Zach’s best friend Kim is undergoing an extreme transformation and no one knows what’s going on or what’s going to happen! Whew, it was so intense! I’ll admit, I cried more than once. I really felt connected to these characters, I was learning right along with Zach. This book is not for the light of heart, it’s a dark story that definitely can highlight the very bad things in our universe; but its still a very good read and I’m very happy I had to the opportunity to find this author.

Book Spotlight & Interview: Unwrapped by Maisey Yates

unwrappedcover

I have Maisey Yates here today to talk about her new novella, Unwrapped, which is a sweet romance for this holiday season.  Take it away, Maisey. 🙂

1. Tell me a little about yourself.

*waves* I’m Maisey! I write sexy, brooding sheikhs for Harlequin Presents and hot contemporary cowboys. I also have a BAD BAD biker coming up next year! I live in Oregon with my husband and three kids and I get to work at home in my pajamas! Life is pretty sweet.

2. What inspired you to be a writer? Have you always wanted to write romances?

I used to have fantasies of being a writer that involved staring out the window at a misty gray sea, but they didn’t involve…actual writing. I started a lot of things but didn’t finish them. And as for wanting to write romance? It was the discovery of romance that took writing from a vague aspiration to a DRIVE. I read my first Harlequin Presents and loved them SO MUCH I wanted to create my own. 🙂

 3. Tell me about your new release.

Unwrapped is the story of Silver Creek’s resident Kindergarten teacher and good girl, Sarah Larsen, deciding it’s time to try and misbehave. She makes a plan to pick up a guy at a bar to lose her virginity, and she ends up meeting a super hot stranger. She figures she’ll never see Walker again…but unfortunately it turns out he’s the father of the new girl in her class!

4. Where did you come up with the idea for the series?

So many different places. I find very often my ideas come from sad things I see in the news, or that are happening in the lives of people I know. Because I want to fix it. So I’ll put a character in the book with a similar element in their backstory to give them a HEA. I think I’m a frustrated fixer in a world I can’t control!

5. What have been the challenges of writing a romance series?

Keeping the details straight! Silver Creek was my first series, and I spent a lot of time looking for details in previous MSs when writing another book. I learned from that!! When I started my second series, Copper Ridge, I decided to keep a bible full of character/story and place details. It’s been much easier!

6. What was the first book that you’ve ever written and was it published?

Uh yes…the first book I wrote was His Virgin Acquisition and it was published. But during that wait I wrote several more MSs that would have been aimed at Presents that I never submitted. I learned so much writing those books, and revising that first book on sub, that I was just sort of working out craft issues. Practice books!

7. What are you working on now?

Right now I’m finishing up Bad News Cowboy, which is actually the third book in my next cowboy series, Copper Ridge, which comes out in March 2015 and runs through the summer! It has one of my favorite themes…bad boy older brother’s best friend and good girl younger heroine. Though, the heroine is a feisty, foul mouthed barrel racer. I’ve had so much fun writing her!

8. Favorite TV show? Movie? Favorite Drink?

Oh…I watch too much TV. I love Sleepy Hollow, Parks and Rec, How to Get Away With Murder, Arrow…and of all time? Friends. Movie? Lord of the Rings and Bend it Like Beckham. Drink? Pumpkin Spice Latte.

Kindergarten teacher Sarah Larsen has spent her whole life being the good girl. But now, she’s ready to do something bad. So wearing the shortest, tightest black dress she owns, she marches over to the nearest bar to fulfill her Christmas fantasy: a wild night with a total stranger.

Walker Callahan moved to Silver Creek to start fresh. He doesn’t want to bring his baggage into a relationship, so an evening of fun with the sexiest welcoming committee ever is just what he needs.

They were both in it for one night with no strings attached.. But when Sarah discovers that Walker is the father of her new student, things turn deliciously complicated. Can the cold winter nights thaw two frozen hearts?

Jennifer’s Review of Unwrapped

Review (4 Stars): Sarah has spent most of her life being the good girl and was taught that good girls don’t like sex and that sex can lead to bad things.  Sarah had decided that she is now ready to shed her good girl image and spend one night of passion with a random stranger who will show her what it is like to walk on the wild side.  That random stranger just happens to be Walker Callahan, a sexy cowboy who has moved to Silver Creek to start a new life and raise his young daughter on his own. He never expected to meet Sarah but her shy innocent seduction awakens something in Walker that he thought was long gone.  For Sarah and Walker, one night of passion turns into something that neither of them expected with emotions that can’t be denied.

Sarah was such a lovely character in this story because she went through her life without knowing what it was like to be truly loved yet was capable of loving someone else without hesitation.  She never meant to fall in love with Walker, she just wanted to shed her good girl image and find out what she liked as a woman without being told by someone how she should feel.  She tried to keep her feelings in check when she spent the night with Walker but the more they were around each other, the more she fell for him. Walker was the one man who made her feel wanted and desired, yet he was afraid of going down the path to love.  He had been married before and things didn’t turn out well and for the sake of his daughter, he was afraid to do it again.  I was glad that he realized that Sarah wasn’t like his ex-wife and she had no intention of ever leaving this sexy man’s side.  Maisey Yates is one of my favorite writers and if you haven’t read her Silver Creek series, you are missing out.  I heard that she has a sexy badass biker story coming up and if he is anything like Charlie Hunnam, I’m all in.

Kimberly reviews Operation Family by Marissa Dobson

Operation FamilyTITLE: Operation Family
SERIES #: SEALed For You #3
CHARACTERS: Nicole & Mac
AUTHOR: Marissa Dobson
PUBLICATION DATE: November 18, 2014
ORDER LINKS:Amazon| B&N (coming soon)

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Navy SEAL Lieutenant Commander Mac García spent twenty years in the military but had no plans to retire. He didn’t know what his life would be like without the SEALs, and through the years he saw the worst in the world. He’d be damned if he’d see another attack on American soil. Arriving home, he’s faced with a whole different obstacle—twin toddlers. As the only family left to these little girls, he has to figure out what the next step in his life will be and how he’ll manage raising two children.

A knock at Nicole Ryan’s door delivers the news of a friend’s death, and now she’s alone to care for the twins until their guardian arrives. As their nanny since they were born, she can’t picture being separated from them, let alone seeing them head to the other side of the United States. She’ll fight for the right to keep the girls, because she doesn’t know how else to deal with the loss of their father, and she can’t bear losing them too.

Can two people from different walks of life come together to build a strong family for the twins? Or will destiny make them lose everything they hold dear?

REVIEW:
4..25 Hearts A SEAL with a heart of gold and the three females who claim it. That should be the tagline for this story. When we first meet Mac he melts your heart when he picks up the little runaway boy in the airport and you just know that he will end up being a great dad to the twins that he has yet to learn about. Mac is a caregiver. He has been put on this Earth to take care of the people he loves and soon that includes two little girls that he didn’t even know existed. Nicole has raised the twins since they were born even though she is the nanny and not blood. They have known no other “mom” than her and she is going to fight to keep “her” babies and I love her strength. When these two meet it is immediate and intense and meant to be.

Every woman should have a man in her life like Mac. He shows his love with every look and every touch. It’s hard not to fall for a SEAL like Mac. I read this book in 4 straight hours because I couldn’t put it down. I wanted to see what happened. I loved the mental picture of the girls sleeping on Mac’s hard chest. I loved Uncle Sam and Uncle Angelo too. I hope they get their own stories even though they are not SEALS.

This family was meant to be and I’m glad fate, no matter how tragic, brought them together. There are so many cute scenes that make the reader smile and some that make you wish for your own Navy SEAL.

London, Hanover Square

November 1810

“What is it, Haley?” Lord Charleton asked, sparing a glance at the door of the breakfast room where his secretary stood, hovering about like a nervous sparrow. “Is it Rowland? Tell me he hasn’t landed in the suds yet again.”

“No, my lord.”

The man’s brow furrowed a bit. “Couldn’t be Wakefield.”

“Certainly not, my lord.”

The baron glanced up. “Wouldn’t mind if it was. Demmed waste having him mope about, locked up in that house of his.”

“Indeed,” the secretary replied, and if Charleton wasn’t mistaken, there was a note of irony to the man’s declaration—one he chose to ignore, instead pinning a glance on the impudent fellow.

Under the scrutiny, Haley’s jaw worked back and forth as if the words were stuck there in his craw.

“Well?” Lord Charleton prodded. “Out with it. Before my kippers grow cold.” As it was, the baron shoved his plate forward and set down the paper he’d been reading.

Mr. Haley cleared his throat and held out a letter. “I’ve come across a small debt your wife owed—”

There it was. That cold stillness that came every time someone had the nerve to mention Isobel’s name.  How  Lord  Charleton  wished  he  could forget her passing so this wrenching pain would fade from his heart. Yet, still, even a year after her loss, it was a sharp ache he woke up with, one that haunted him even after he closed his eyes at night.

Now here was his secretary bringing her up when he’d quite forbidden the matter.

“Pay it,” he ordered in a tone that said he wanted nothing further to do with any reminders of her.

“But, my lord—” Haley shuffled about.

Lord Charleton removed his glasses and slowly cleaned them. Then once they were perched back up on his nose he stared coldly at the fellow. He was a good man, Haley. An excellent secretary, but why the man continued to bring up Lady Charleton, the baron could not understand. Speaking slowly and deliberately, so there was no mistaking the matter, he said, “You know what to do. Take care of the matter and leave me be.”

“If you insist, my lord . . .” Haley’s voice trailed off tentatively. It wasn’t so much a reply as one last prod.

Truly? He was going to ask yet again? If he wasn’t the most thorough and honest fellow the baron had ever hired—well, actually Lady Charleton had found him and insisted he be hired, but that wasn’t the point. Haley had become rather cheeky of late and Charleton wanted nothing more than to fire him on the spot.

But Isobel wouldn’t have approved, and so Charlton inclined his head, reined back his ire and said with a final note, “Just see to it as Her Lady- ship would have wanted.” Then he went back to his paper and ignored Haley, who stood for a few more moments in the doorway.

And if the baron had looked up, he might have seen the wry, wily smile that had led Lady Charleton to hire Mr. Haley in the first place.

CHAPTER 1

London
Six months later

Areowwwwww!  The unholy complaint filled the carriage.

“You should have left that foul creature back in Kempton,  Miss  Tempest,”  Mrs.  Bagley-Butterton complained for about the hundredth time.
Which equaled the number of times Hannibal had let out that ear-piercing yowl from the basket in which he was trapped.

“He  doesn’t  like  being  penned  up  so,”  Miss Louisa Tempest said in defense of her cat. “And I couldn’t leave him behind.”

There  was  a  sigh  of  resignation  from  beside Louisa. Miss Lavinia Tempest, Louisa’s twin, made a very deliberate show of looking out the window. She wasn’t about to rise to Hannibal’s defense.

Never would.

Louisa suspected her sister shared Mrs. Bagley- Butterton’s exasperation and wished poor Hannibal back in Kempton as well.

“I only hope your godmother is an understanding sort,” the matron continued, shifting in her seat in the carriage and eyeing the large basket on Louisa’s lap with an air of disdain and suspicion. She had protested vehemently against the cat being brought along, but she could hardly prevent the matter when the carriage conveying them to London belonged to the girls’ father, Sir Ambrose Tempest. “I know I wouldn’t have that cat in my house.” She sniffed loudly.

Jennifer’s Review of The Viscount Who Lived Down The Lane

Review (4.5 Stars): What a lovely story!  Louisa Tempest and her twin sister, Lavinia, have come to London to stay with their godmother and to help Lavinia find herself a husband.  Louisa wants no part of any matchmaking herself and tries to find other ways to occupy her time while her sister prepares for the Season.  When her disagreeable cat, Hannibal, runs into the house next door uninvited, Louisa comes face to face with Viscount Wakefield, who doesn’t take kindly to visitors in his home.  Wakefield has been secluded in his home after being injured in the war and wants nothing more than to wallow in his own self-pity and hide from the rest of the world.  Louisa takes it upon herself to help her neighbor by doing little things to make his life better and in turn, shows Wakefield that life is worth living and love is waiting for him, if he just gives it a chance.

Louisa was such a sweet character, who just wanted to help the people in her life achieve their hopes and dreams.  She had no desire to get married because of “the curse” but wanted to make sure her sister had a chance at finding love.  When she met Viscount Wakefield, he was mean, rude and just hated the world around him.  He didn’t want help from anyone, especially not the beautiful woman that lived next door, who seemed to be meddling in his affairs.  She was the light in his world of darkness and by doing the things she did, she brought hope back into his life.  She also brought a chance of love and happiness for him, he just had to accept it and show Louisa how he felt about her.  They were a great couple even though they were exact opposites but sometimes those make the best couples.

This is the fourth book in the Rhymes with Love series and each story in the series is wonderful.  I love Ms. Boyle’s writing style and each story can stand on its own without having to read the rest of the books in the series.  I loved Louisa and Wakefield’s story and I hope that there are many more books to come in the Rhymes with Love series.

Kimberly reviews Where There’s A Will by Stacy Gail

Where theres a WillTITLE: Where There’s A Will
CHARACTERS: Miranda and Coe
AUTHOR: Stacy Gail
PUBLICATION DATE: 11/17/14
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Miranda Brookhaven returned to Bitterthorn, Texas to fix the past. Years ago, her father used her teenage romance with Coe Rodas to steal the prototype for a groundbreaking new automotive invention. Now her father’s dead, and thanks to the convoluted will he left behind, she’s stuck in town until she rights the wrong that lost her the man she loved.
Coe learned early on that life never goes according to plan. His dreams of hitting it big vanished when Miranda all but invited her father to take the only thing of value he ever had. But now the once-pampered princess is holed up in a condemned trailer on the edge of town…and everything he thought he knew about her and about what happened between them back then seems completely wrong.
Miranda’s determined to give back to Coe all that he lost. If she can do that, maybe she can move on from the past. But Coe seems to be more interested in their rekindled passion than claiming what she thinks he deserves. She’s got sixty days to convince him to cough up evidence that he’s the original inventor after that, the only way to transfer the patent rights over to him would be to make him part of the family, and she’s not sure her heart can take another hit.

REVIEW:
3.75 Hearts I enjoyed this book but it did get wordy at some times. The relationship between Coe and Miranda is interesting and seemed to take a long time to work out but then I realized it didn’t really. It was more that there were a lot of words to get them there. I know that sounds weird but it is true.

So Miranda and Coe both have different stories about how their past went and while neither is really wrong neither is really right either. But this story is not about their past as much as about how they deal with their futures and how they need to learn to live beyond what the past handed them. And I think the author did a good job of getting that across. Sometimes the scenes were so real and true that you can feel the hurt. When Miranda explains about Coe getting rid of the tattoo of her name it is so sad and you can imagine the feelings she has.

So while I enjoyed this story and it is only about 150 pages it is not a quick read. But that being said it is worth the read.

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
One sip of passion leaves them thirsty for more…Tastes of Seduction, Book 3. Declan Muirfield never planned to return to the hotel where he broke a woman’s heart and destroyed his prospects for a happy ever after. Until he finds himself strapped in Noah Martin’s passenger seat, being driven—against his better judgment—back to the scene of his crime. Noah’s spent too many years watching while Declan’s lived the life he’s expected to lead rather than following his heart and living the life he wants. Now Noah’s had enough. It’s time for Declan to confront his past so he can embrace his future—with Noah, as it was meant to be. And if that future should include a beguiling woman with honey-gold hair, all the better. Under the guise of a working weekend, Noah has invited Violet Harper to join them at the luxury vineyard hotel. Perhaps now the unspoken connection between Violet, Declan and himself can finally develop into something tangible. Almost immediately, sparks flare out of control, and clothes come flying off in a hot whirlwind of desire. But convincing Declan and Violet that the three of them belong together may prove to be the hardest task Noah has ever undertaken. Warning: A bottle of white? A bottle of red? Perhaps a bottle of bubbly instead? Ah, hell, just bring’em all. We all know good things come in threes.

REVIEW:
This is a great story that involves a three person committed relationship. I really loved Declan and Noah. Their friendship is strong, even though Declan can be extremely hard headed. However, you understand why Declan is the way he is. He feels deeply and really takes into account his impact on others. Noah is waaaay too patient for Declan, but the perfect partner for him. Then comes Violet – the perfect third party to this relationship. They all mesh extremely well from the get go and completely allow you to believe that their love for one another is all encompassing and necessary. I loved this story and the intimate interactions between the characters. The story was believable and heartfelt. Though this book is a part of a series it can definitely be read as a stand-alone. Jess Dee found a new fan in me.

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

So, when she hears that her family’s property, Christmas Ranch, is set to be shut down forever, a determined Hope heads home. She refuses to let the Grinch steal her holiday—this will be the most memorable ranch Christmas ever! And, thanks to hunky former navy SEAL Rafe Santiago and his adorable nephew, she might just pull off that miracle.

Rafe is undeniably drawn to Hope and her passion for rebuilding her family home. But he knows more about Hope’s tragic past than even she herself could imagine. And though she doesn’t know it, she owes him her life. And all he wants in return is for her to spend it with him….

REVIEW:
Looking for a light hearted feel good romantic holiday story? Well this isn’t it. While a really good story there is a number of sad things in this story. First the family is sad because of the loss of Hope’s brother-in-law and Uncle who usually ran The Christmas Ranch. Hope comes home with a hero complex (for lack of a better word) and figures she will make everything right and get the ranch working again while her sisters and aunt want to wallow. And while we can appreciate it the background makes the story sad.

Then there is Rafe who brings a sadness all his own. He has left the SEALS to care for his nephew because his sister has gone to jail and he has a history with Hope and her sisters that Hope doesn’t realize and that history is sad as well. Honestly while there is a HEA and romance and a sweetness there is more sad than happy.

Now all that being said it really is a sweet story. The time it takes to get the ranch ready for Christmas and the time Rafe and Hope spend together is nice. The romance growing between them is lovely. All-in-all this is a really good read it is just not a light hearted romance so be ready.

Kate was just about to start putting the chairs upside down on the tables when someone knocked on the front door. She looked up and saw Tony.
Smiling, she unlocked and let him in. “So how did it go?”

And then she saw the small bandage oozing blood on his right cheek.

She gasped. “Tony!”

He shrugged and dropped his hockey bag near the door. “It looks worse than it is.”

“But it’s bleeding through the bandage! Weren’t you wearing a helmet, a face mask?”

“Of course I was—I don’t want to lose my teeth. But we were warming up, and someone on the other team was hitting too hard, and I’d taken off my helmet to adjust…never mind the details.”

She followed him into his office. “You could have lost an eye!”

“I know, I know.”

“And you need a new bandage.”

“This was a new bandage after the game, and I ripped off the scab that had formed.” He rummaged through his shelves until he found the medicine kit.

“Maybe you need stitches?”

“Naw, I’m fine. I have antiseptic things in here somewhere.”

She pushed his big hands out of the way, found the little packet, and opened it. “Sit down on the desk so I can reach you.”

“Kate—”

“Shh!”

With a sigh he complied, sitting on the edge of the desk. That put his face a little above hers, and she had to stand between his knees. She bit her lip as she tried to be gentle peeling off the bandage.

“Just rip it away,” he said with amusement.

So she did, and she was the only one who winced. The cut wasn’t too long, nor was it an open gash or oozing blood too badly. Using the damp antiseptic wipe, she gently cleansed it, then looked for a bigger, square bandage. After applying it, she stood still, admiring her work.

“There,” she murmured with satisfaction.

Tony wasn’t smiling anymore. Those chocolate brown eyes were staring at her as if out of the past, back when he’d desired her, needed her.

And she realized she was standing between his thighs. The shock of awareness and heat that moved through her body was swift and overwhelming.

He put his hands on her waist, as if he knew she was suddenly weak with longing.

“What are we doing?” she whispered.

But she didn’t move away.

“I think I’m kissing you,” he said, leaning closer.

Their breaths merged, the heat of him seared her.

“Stop me now,” he warned in a hoarse voice.

Their lips almost, almost touched.

And she couldn’t speak, didn’t want to deny him, found herself deep in the past, where Tony had been the only boy, then the only man, who’d drawn her, who’d made her desperate for his touch, who’d made her lose herself.

He kissed her, openmouthed and hungrily, no gentle exploration but inspiring a renewal of a desperation that she’d buried within her for over nine years. He pulled her against him, her hips into the openness of his, her aching breasts flattening against his broad chest, her head turning until it practically rested on his shoulder. She felt greedy with the need of him, desperate for the taste of his tongue. And then his hands slid to cup her backside, pressing her even harder against the erection outlined by his jeans. She let her hands roam him, remembering his biceps and shoulders, the broad planes supporting his collarbones, the lean pillar of his neck. His hair was thick and warm, and so good to touch.

Their mouths explored as if in homecoming, as memories swamped her of laughing kisses, tender kisses, urgent kisses. Tony was still all of that for her, and no one had ever made her feel like this but him.

That made her break off the kiss and stare at him, wide-eyed. His eyes smoldered as they watched her mouth. He didn’t look like he could stop, and for a moment, she wondered if she could, if Tony once again could create a passion that made her forget everything but him.

Jennifer’s Review of Sleigh Bells in Valentine Valley

Review (4.5 Stars): Sleigh Bells in Valentine Valley was such a sweet romance and I love books about couples having a second chance at love, especially around the holidays.  Kate Fenelli returns home when she is put on leave from her job as an attorney and isn’t sure what her life holds for her since she will be in the same town as her ex-husband.  Tony De Luca has always loved Kate and having her close by during the holidays has rekindled something that he thought was long gone.  Can these two give love a second chance or has that moment passed them by forever?

I enjoyed Tony and Kate’s story together.  Kate was a career-focused character, who in the beginning wanted to achieve success by becoming the best attorney that she could be, even if it meant putting her personal life on hold.  Tony was such a nice guy, who wanted the simple things in life by raising a family and creating a life in Valentine Valley.  The two of them were on different pages in their lives when they were younger but as we all know, things change as you grow and mature as a person. Their journey back to one another wasn’t an easy one but sometimes a great love takes time and for these two, it was definitely worth the wait.

4.5 Hearts Loved.
Simple as that.
I loved this book.
Trick & Stella we have met before. I think we all know then that something was going on with them. But we just didn’t know what or how deep it ran. That being said since this was a novella I am not going to give you more. 😉 Except that I loved Trick and Stella and you should read this novella.

If you are a fan of the Play-by-Play series you will love this novella. If you have not started this series never fear you can pick up Holiday on Ice and read without being lost.
Can’t wait for the next installment!!

What a Lady Demands_Macnamara

Readers of Julia Quinn, Eloisa James, and Sabrina Jeffries will love Ashlyn Macnamara’s novel about a smoldering new love that is threatened by past betrayals.

Viscount Lindenhurst cannot seem to find a governess who meets his impossible standards—until Cecelia Sanford becomes the first woman to interrupt the widower’s brooding in years. Lind had returned home from the Napoleonic wars, broken in body and soul and longing for his wife’s embrace, only to find her changed. Before they could reconcile, an accident struck their son and claimed her life. Now enter Cecelia, with her soft curves and sharp tongue—a tempting distraction, it is true, but not a welcome one.

Past the usual marrying age and haunted by a scandal of her own, Cecelia soon finds herself caring for both the child and the man. The viscount is brittle and even abrupt at times, yet she cannot deny the attraction that stirs her body in his presence. Moved by the deep sense of abandonment that tortures his soul, Cecelia aches to fully awaken Lind’s heart from its rancorous slumber—if she can just keep their pasts from destroying a second chance at love.

He refused to give in to the temptation to dismount. To approach her. She was a governess, for God’s sake, and the younger sister of a man he’d once deemed a friend. Reason enough to stay away, no matter how deucedly attractive he found her. “That is the accepted method for gaining entrance to a proper school when the time comes.”

“And what will you do when he shows no desire to deal with the vagaries of the first declension, let alone the third?”

He arched a brow at her, an expression usually guaranteed to cow the most recalcitrant servant. “And what do you know of such things?”

A smile flitted across her lips, evaporating so quickly, he wondered if he’d really seen it. “Perhaps I listened in when Alexander had lessons. But no matter. You are skirting the issue.”

“And what is the issue?” Besides the fact that he was the employer and thus set the rules.

“I’ve no idea if Latin is among his aptitudes or even his interests, but he has shown me one area that fascinates him.”

Good Lord, he knew what was coming. One of the other governesses had tried to discuss the boy with him. And what was her name? He’d been through so many he couldn’t recall, even if the conversation hadn’t taken place all that long ago. “I do not wish to discuss the boy’s obsession with those soldiers of his.”

“How can you not?” She stepped toward him, one hand outstretched, approaching his thigh. Near. Too near. “This might be the key to convincing him reading and writing are worth learning.”

God help her if she so much as grazed her fingertips against his leg. He wasn’t at all sure he could take responsibility for the outcome, not the way his body yearned toward hers. Not the way his cock came fully erect at the thought of her touch. He suppressed an urge to rein Judas away.

How long since he’d let a woman touch him? Not since Lydia. And even that had been ages before he’d lost her.

With his wife, he’d felt like a whole being. Complete. That was, until he’d discovered the truth.

And now, what kind of man would give in to his appetites like some mindless animal, no matter how long he’d done without female companionship? He ought to have learned to control himself long since.

“The last thing he needs is to be encouraged toward the military.” He forced the statement through his teeth as precisely as if he were giving orders. “Do you think the army would take him in his state?”

Her fingers wavered, and she curled them into a fist. Thank God. He well remembered her as a girl, those hands always in motion, fluttering like birds, brushing against various and sundry. She’d damned well better keep them away from him.

Jennifer’s Review of What A Lady Demands

Review (3.75 Stars): I love romances where the main character is a tortured dark hero that pushes everyone away from him and has a strong young woman that is brave enough to break down the walls around his heart. Cecelia has always been attracted to Lind but has never acted on it until she gets the opportunity to care for him and his son after the death of his wife.  I loved that she was spunky enough to deal with Lind’s personality and not be afraid of him when he was pushing people away from him.  It took me a while to warm up to him but I could definitely see what attracted Cecelia to him and the sparks flew whenever they were together.  Ms. Macnamara is a new author to me but I enjoyed What A Lady Demands and am looking forward to reading the first book in the series, What a Lady Craves.

Natasha & Kimberly review Rocky Mountain Miracle by Christine Feehan

Rocky Mtn MiracleTITLE: Rocky Mountain Miracle
CHARACTERS: Cole & Maia
AUTHOR: Christine Feehan
PUBLICATION DATE: 11/17/14
ORDER LINKS:Amazon| B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
No Christmas will ever be the same after Cole and Maia meet on a snowy western ranch… Find out why in #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan’s romantic holiday e-novella!

When Cole Steele, a womanizer rumored to have killed his father, meets Maia Armstrong, a veterinarian rumored to practice magic, the sizzling romance could melt all the snow on his Wyoming ranch. And when an injured horse brings them together, Cole can’t help but believe that Maia casts spells on animals—and men. What else could explain the burning passion he feels for her and the thawing of his heart just in time for Christmas?

NATASHA’S REVIEW:
4 Hearts Christine Feehan never disappoints. This Christmas novel is no different in terms of intense storylines and having you fall in love with the characters. Cole is a super intense dominant male personality. He has been through sheer hell, which is weird to see in a Christmas novel. Luckily he meets Maia and his whole world turns upside down. Maia however is very independent and I really have no idea where her mind is at until the end. I was actually stressed during this book because I didn’t know how things would work out. That’s a good problem to have with a book. Also, I just loved Cole’s brother Jase. He was a breath of fresh air in this book and I adored him. All of these three characters together made for an extremely romantic and heart warming Christmas story.

KIMBERLY’S REVIEW:
4.25 Hearts What an interesting story. The characters are so complex and have so much history that they feel real. Cole and Jase are half brothers who didn’t even know the other existed until recently and yet they share the history of their cruel father. Maia comes into their lives and something about her changes everything the men have ever known about life. And somehow they connect in a way the guys never thought they would be able to with another person.

It seems like this book may have been in Feehan’s mind for a long time just waiting to be written. THe characters are so intense and real that you feel like you know them. You hurt for them and you cheer their simple moments that are so hard for them. Christmas feels lost on them and the reader feels it too. The sadness of never having the holiday is intense. And then there are the times when they love. The brothers love for each other is growing and yet they are unsure how to trust. And then there is Maia who has a secret all her own that she can talk to animals. Well not talk exactly… well the book will explain… and yet she is so down to earth.

I really enjoyed this story. Was it a holiday feel good love story? No way! There is a lot that is dark in this book but it is worth the read and not something you want to miss.
