BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Against some attacks, the only hope is to come out and meet the play.

Last year, Jami Richter had no plans, no goals, no future. But that’s all changed. First step, make up for putting her father through hell by supporting the hockey team he manages and becoming an Ice Girl. But a photo shoot puts her right in the arms of Sebastian Ramos, a Dartmouth Cobra defenseman with a reputation for getting any woman—or, as the rumours imply, man—he desires. And the powerful dominant wants her…and Luke. Getting involved in Seb’s lifestyle gives her a new understanding of the game and the bonds between players. But can she handle being caught between two men who want her, while struggling with their attraction to one another?

Luke Carter’s life is about as messed up as his scarred face. His mother is sick. His girlfriend dumps him. When he goes to his favorite BDSM club to blow off some steam, his Dom status is turned upside down when a therapeutic beating puts him in a good place. He flatly denies being submissive–or, even worse, being attracted to another man. He wants Jami but can’t have her without getting involved with Sebastian. Can he overcome his own prejudices long enough to admit he wants them both?

Caught between Luke and Jami, Sebastian Ramos does everything in his power to fulfill their needs. His two new submissives willingly share their bodies, but not their secrets. When his own past comes back to haunt him, the fragile foundation of their relationship is ripped apart. As he works to salvage the damage done by doubt and insecurity, he discovers that Jami is hiding something dangerous. But it may already be too late.

Warning
This ebook contains material not suitable for readers under 18. It also contains scenes that some may find objectionable, including hockey violence, BDSM, ménage sex, bondage, anal sex, sex toys, multiple partners, woman love, and man love including, but not limited to an erotic shower scene. Readers are advised not to attempt reenacting the scene while reading the ebook.

REVIEW:
I think this was my favorite book of the series. I really enjoyed the characters and the growth they went through. There were plenty of obstacles to keep these 3 apart and they were not easily overcome. I like that the author didn’t gloss over the issues that they had to confront and overcome. Again, you can really see the writing improve as the series progresses. We also get a glimpse into previous characters lives and what is going on with them now.

I liked the added drama of the problematic ex and his family. Seems like the author is heading towards reforming the half brother and maybe making him a major character in an upcoming book. Seeing as how I like how she changed and redeemed both Silver and Jami look forward to seeing how it will all come out.

The only thing about this book that I didn’t love was how it seemed to be used as a springboard, or more like excuse to introduce more gay/bi characters. It just kind of seemed like a little convenient. I will be curious to see how it all plays out in future books in the series.

Kimberly reviews The Great Escape by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

TITLE: The Great Escape
SERIES #: Wynette, Texas #7
CHARACTERS: Lucy & Panda
AUTHOR: Susan Elizabeth Phillips
PUBLICATION DATE: 07/10/12
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Where do you run to when your life has fallen apart?

Lucy Jorik is a champ at never embarrassing the family she adores—not surprising since her mother is one of the most famous women in the world. But now Lucy has done just that. And on her wedding day, no less, to the most perfect man she’s ever known.

Instead of saying “I do” to Mr. Irresistible, Lucy flees the church in an ill-fitting blue choir robe and hitches a ride on the back of a beat-up motorcycle plastered with offensive bumper stickers. She’s flying into the unknown with a rough-looking, bad-tempered stranger who couldn’t be more foreign to her privileged existence.

While the world searches for her, Lucy must search for herself, and she quickly realizes that her customary good manners are no defense against a man who’s raised rudeness to an art form. Lucy needs to toughen up—and fast.

Her great escape takes her to his rambling beach house on a Great Lakes island. Here, she hopes to find a new direction . . . and unlock the secrets of this man who knows so much about her but reveals nothing about himself. As the hot summer days unfold amid scented breezes and sudden storms, she’ll also encounter a beautiful, troubled beekeeper; a frightened young boy; a modern-day evil queen; and a passion that could change her life forever.

REVIEW:

Lucy finally got her story and what a story it is. SEP doesn’t miss a beat in this story of Lucy and Panda. The two characters have a connection from the moment Panda revs up to Lucy after she has fled the wedding to Mr. Perfect, Ted Beaudine from “Call Me Irresistible”.

While the connection is there I have to admit that I wondered if the characters were really meant to be together. But they share a common background and while their current lives are no longer the same they still click. The background characters are just as interesting as Panda and Lucy.

*Possible Spoiler* I have to say that the ending made me sad. It seems that this is the end of the series. The epilogue seems to wrap everything up and while I am sure that SEP has a new set of books in the works saying goodbye to Wynette is like saying goodbye to a hometown.

Peg Cochran Blog Tour Interview and Review

Steamed to Death

I am excited for Peg Cochran to be here today to promote her new book, Steamed to Death, the second novel in her Gourmet De-Lite mystery series.  She has been kind enough to answer a few questions for us today.

1. When you’re not writing or editing your own books, what authors or genres do you like to read?

I love mystery and suspense (as long as it’s not too gory).  Some favorite authors include Deborah Crombie, Julia Spencer-Fleming, Peter Robinson, PD James.

2. What’s your favorite thing about being a author?

I get to make stuff up!   I love dreaming up characters and disappearing into the world I’ve created.  It’s the most fun I can think of—except when it’s not—like when you’re stuck in the middle of the book—the hardest part to write.  But I always manage to dig myself out.

3. What would you tell new readers to your series about your series, to inspire them to pick them up?

My daughter is in college and I need the money for tuition?  Seriously, someone left a review on Amazon that said I really took the time to develop the characters and the mystery.  And that is what I try to do—create characters that become your best friends.  If you like a small town setting, with plenty of food and cooking thrown in, I think you would like the series.

 4. Are the recipes from your books your own tried and true recipes? Do you have a favorite recipe?

They’re recipes I have adapted to be lower calorie and lower fat by making substitutions.  Then, I usually have to add a little something…or leave out something we don’t like.  Next thing you know, I’ve created an entirely new dish!  But hubby had a quintuple bypass last summer, so I have to make sure we eat healthy things.  As to a favorite, there are the ones I make over and over—lower fat shepherd’s pie, a smoky chipotle chili (recipe coming in Steamed to Death!), chicken tortilla soup (recipe is in Allergic to Death).

 5. Are any of your characters inspired by family or friends?

No.  Although my mother is convinced she’s in every book I write.

6. What are you currently reading?

I just finished Gone Girl and was blown away by it.  I would love to be able to write like that!  I also just finished Laura Lippman’s newest…I’m so bad I never remember titles, but I think it was When She Was Good.

Thank you so much for being here today and I can’t wait to read more from this mystery series.

About the Author:

Peg-Cochran-author-photo-245x300Peg grew up in a New Jersey suburb about 25 miles outside of New York City.  After college, she moved to the city where she managed an art gallery owned by the son of the artist Henri Matisse.  When her first daughter, Francesca, arrived, the new family moved back to the New Jersey suburbs where her second daughter, Annabelle, was born.

After her husband died, Peg remarried and her new husband took a job in Grand Rapids, Michigan where they now live (on exile from New Jersey, she likes to joke). Peg managed to segue from the art world to marketing and is now the manager of marketing communications for a company that provides services to seniors.

Her greatest love though has always been writing – particularly mysteries! She has two cozy mystery series from Berkley Prime Crime: The Gourmet De-Lite series set in Connecticut and featuring Gigi Fitzgerald, who provides gourmet diet meals to a select group of clients and the Sweet Nothings Vintage Lingerie series, written as Meg London, set in Paris, Tennessee with Emma Taylor who finds murder and mayhem in this quiet country town.

As for pets – she has a schizophrenic cat (really!) named Frazzle and a Westhighland White Terrier, Reggie, who is desperately in need of losing a few pounds.  But you know what they say: If your dog is overweight, it means YOU aren’t getting enough exercise!

When she’s not writing, Peg can usually be found cooking, which she loves.  When asked to bring a dish to a potluck she invariably opts to bring dessert – partly because she loves making sweet dishes and partly because she and her husband always manage to be late so there’s no point in putting them in charge of appetizers!

Jennifer’s Review of Steamed to Death

Steamed to Death

TITLE: Steamed to Death

SERIES #: A Gourmet De-Lite Mystery #2

CHARACTERS: Gigi Fitzgerald, Sienna, Detective Mertz

AUTHOR: Peg Cochran

PUBLICATION DATE:  06/04/13

ORDER LINKS:  Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS: Gourmet health food caterer Gigi Fitzgerald is used to helping dieters drop a dress size. But when her clients start dropping dead, she’s ready to switch her chef’s hat for a detective’s cap and track down a killer….

Aging soap star Felicity Davenport is looking to revamp her image, and she’s using Gigi’s Gourmet De-Lite to help her shed a few of those unwanted pounds.  Having such a high-profile client is definitely good for business, but when Felicity is found murdered in her sauna, things start getting too hot for Gigi to handle.

The list of suspects is a mile long, and Gigi’s best friend, Sienna, is at the top.  Refusing to let her friend get blamed for a crime she didn’t commit, Gigi is determined to hunt down the real killer.  But, as the case reaches a boiling point, Gigi will have to be careful or she could be the next one getting burned.

REVIEW PROVIDED BY: Jennifer             NUMBER OF STARS: Four Stars

REVIEW: I really enjoyed Peg’s first novel, Allergic to Death, so I was excited to read more about Gigi and her booming gourmet catering business. In this book, Gigi’s main customer is a daytime soap star looking to make a comeback and hires Gigi to provide all her meals when tragedy strikes.  Felicity is found dead in her sauna and Sienna, Gigi’s best friend, is the prime suspect. Sienna is also several months pregnant and has been helping Felicity with her publicity, so Gigi is desperate to determine the true culprit before Sienna is arrested for a crime she didn’t commit.

Steamed to Death is a very cute mystery and I love the quirky cast of characters in this one. Gigi finally has a possible love interest in this story with the handsome Detective Mertz and the new restaurant owner, Declan McQuaid. This book has the right dash of mystery, humor and romance that will have you entertained until the very last sentence.  I loved the recipes and everyone knows that I’m a big fan of books that deal with the culinary world.  Steamed to Death is the perfect recipe for a lazy afternoon and I can’t wait to read more about Gigi and the residents of Woodstone, Connecticut.

Kelly reviews My Bluegrass Baby by Molly Harper

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
A brand-new novel in an original eBook series from popular romance author Molly Harper! When Sadie & Josh compete for the same Kentucky Tourism Commission job, sparks fly—turns out Kentucky really is for lovers.

Sadie Hutchins loves her job at the Kentucky Tourism Commission. Not only could her co-workers double as the cast of Parks & Recreation, but she loves finding the unusual sites, hidden gems, and just-plain-odd tourist attractions of her home state. She’s a shoo-in for the director’s job when her boss retires at the end of the year…until hotshot Josh Vaughn shows up to challenge her for the position.

Josh is all sophisticated polish while Sadie’s country comfort, and the two have very different ideas of what makes a good campaign. So when their boss pits them against each other in a winner-takes-all contest, they’re both willing to fight dirty if it means getting what they want. But it turns out, what Josh and Sadie want could be each other—and Josh’s kisses are the best Kentucky attraction Sadie’s found yet!

REVIEW:
Sadie Hutchins has worked her tail off to get where she is in her job. Now she has the chance to move up the ladder to her bosses position. Only problem is now she has competition. Competition in the form of a very hot Josh Vaughn.

Josh and Sadie enter into a playful, slightly painful game of who can outwit, outplay and out-prank the others. But somewhere along the way the line between enemy and lover becomes very, very, very blurry. But in the end only one can win. Or can there be two winners?

You will just have to pick up a copy of My Bluegrass Baby and find out. Another awesomely fun book from Molly Harper. I love that her characters are always fun, snarky, pains in the butts for the other characters, stubborn, beyond hard headed and always ready with a great witty comeback. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Kimberly reviews Learning To Live by Marissa Dobson

TITLE: Learning To Live
SERIES #: Half Moon Harbor #1
CHARACTERS: Meg & Jay
AUTHOR: Marissa Dobson
PUBLICATION DATE: 08/04/12
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Meg Harper is tired of living in a box created by her overprotective brothers because of her ability to see guardian angels…

Jay Wilder a lion shifter so wrapped up in the guilt of not being able to save his friend that he might lose everything…

Can Meg and Jay save each other or are they destined to live half a life?

REVIEW:
This is a short but enjoyable read. This is a shifter story without any shifts and a guardian angel story without guardian angels but somehow it works. I would have loved for this story to be a bit longer. Maybe a interaction with an angel. Letting Meg see Jay shift. Something like that but it is a very sweet story about a woman who wants to live and the man who comes along to show her how.

Guest Review Dianna reviews Dead To The World by Charlaine Harris

TITLE: Dead To The World
SERIES #: Sookie Stackhouse #4
CHARACTERS: Sookie & Eric
AUTHOR: Charlaine Harris
PUBLICATION DATE: 05/03/05
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
In Sookie Stackhouse—a Southern cocktail waitress with a supernatural gift—Harris has a created a heroine like few others, and a series that puts the bite back in vampire fiction. Now the hit series launches into hardcover for Sookie’s biggest twist-filled adventure yet.

When cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse sees a naked man on the side of the road, she doesn’t just drive on by. Turns out the poor thing hasn’t a clue who he is, but Sookie does. It’s Eric the vampire—but now he’s a kinder, gentler Eric. And a scared Eric, because whoever took his memory now wants his life.

REVIEW:
Sookie Stackhouse is a waitress. Just ask her and she will tell you that. But that’s where the normalcy stops.

She has a vampire “hidey-hole” in her closet, an ex-boyfriend who is a vampire, and a boss who is a shifter. In fact, most of her acquaintances are of the paranormal variety.

This fourth entry into Harris’s Southern Vampire Series is just another hit with a sense of humor, a smear of gore, and wisps of paranormal romance and suspense.

Where else can you come across a partially naked man running on the side of a dark, country road? Of course good-hearted and humane Sookie cannot abide by someone alone, in the winter cold, and apparently in trouble.

It seems this man has not a clue as to who he is, where he is, or how he got there. However, Sookie knows who he is, Eric Northman – Vampire Sheriff of Area 5. Eric does think that whoever took his memory also wants his life.

Eric’s memoy loss has changed him from a pompous person into a very kind, gentle, and basically innocent man, I mean Vampire. A version of Eric that Sookie finds difficult to resist.

Sookie’s investigation into the who, why, and what for, leads them into an adventurous and dangerous battle between Vampires, Weres, and Witches. These Witches are not simply Wiccans, but Weres as well. Did I mention that they drain and drink Vampire blood? Only by capturing the leader of the witch group can Eric be returned to his former self.

At the same time Sookie is trying to focus on solving Eric’s perplexities, another travesty occurs. Jason, Sookie’s brother and only living relative (except for a cousin that can’t be found), has disappeared. While the police think the worse and feel he is dead, Sookie refuses to accept this. Her research introduces her to the natives of the little village of Hotshot. The inhabitants are strange and aloof and for a good reason! They play heavily into Jason’s disappearance as the last person to see Jason alive is from Hotshot.

For fans of the Anita Blake Series by Laurell K. Hamilton on a lighter version, the Sookie Stackhouse Series is right up your line. Harris always leaves your curiosity tweaked and looking forward to the next book and this one is no exception.

Kimberly reviews Nothing But Trouble by Trish Jensen

TITLE: Nothing But Trouble
CHARACTERS: Brandon & Laura
AUTHOR: Trish Jensen
PUBLICATION DATE: 04/30/13
ORDER LINKS: Amazon

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
He’s gorgeous, rich, sexy, super nice, and head-over-heels for her. So what’s the problem?

Her psychic best friend predicts that Laura Tanner is due to meet a prince—the man of her dreams. Not a likely scenario for a hard-working bar owner who’s better at karate-chopping rowdy patrons than hobnobbing with the silver-spoon crowd. When Ivy League lawyer Brandon Prince (a prince!) strolls into her bar, Laura admits he’s hard to resist. Brandon quickly realizes that this lovely, funny, take-no-prisoners woman is the special someone he’s always wanted.

Brandon is an expert at wooing women, and even a tough cookie like Laura can’t help but fall under his spell. Before she knows what’s happening, he’s lured her on a romantic adventure filled with laughter and desire. Dazzled, she begins to believe that she really can have this prince of a man as her own.

One problem: Brandon’s powerful mother is used to women chasing his family fortune, and she’ll do whatever it takes to keep yet another money-grubbing female out of his life. If a man is everything you’ve ever wanted, how can he also be nothing but trouble?

REVIEW:
Another adorable read from Trish Jensen. This is a short story only about 14 reading pages and worth every page.

I thought Brandon was just so cute. He was written with a wonderful sense of humor and romance. I liked Laura too. She is a hard working southern girl trying to make it in the big apple. They are worlds apart but they just click. Some of the things Brandon does are so endearing that it is hard not to smile when you read his parts of the story.

I have to say there was a couple of things I didn’t care for like the ending just didn’t do it for me and a couple of other small things but even with that this book is a delight. If you like a good sweet romance then this is the book to pick up.

Kelly reviews Fool For Love by Beth Ciotta

TITLE: Fool for Love
SERIES: Cupcake Lovers #1
CHARACTERS: Devlin Monroe & Chloe Madison
AUTHOR: Beth Ciotta
PUBLICATION DATE: August 28, 2012
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
SHE’S CRAVING A SWEET NEW LIFE…

Call her a fool, but chef-in-training Chloe Madison wants to have her cake and eat it too. So when her boyfriend dumps her for some French tart, she decides to start over from scratch—with a new life and job in Sugar Creek, Vermont. What could be sweeter than cooking for an eccentric lady who’s crazy for desserts? What could be more tempting than joining a club called the Cupcake Lovers? Just one thing: local business-hunk Devlin Monroe…

AND HE’S THE ICING ON THE CUPCAKE

Although he’s the grandson of Chloe’s fun-loving boss, Devlin Monroe is all work and no play. Micro-managing the family business, he doesn’t have time to indulge in life’s sweetest pleasures—until he meets Chloe. How can he resist such a vibrant, beautiful woman who brings so much passion to the table? But when old grudges and secrets threaten to destroy the Cupcake Lovers, Devlin must decide if his feelings for Chloe are a recipe for disaster—or a sinfully delicious ever-after

REVIEW:
Who doesn’t love cupcakes???

Dumped.

That is how Chloe’s celebration night went. But what is a girl to do with a new degree and a recently single status? Move to a new town, start over and find out that some time doing it on your own is not all it is cracked up to be.

This was a fun book. Chloe is a hoot and her cohort Daisy is the feisty grandma everyone wished they had. But while Daisy and a few of her family members are happy to have Chloe helping take care of Daisy not everyone is as happy. Daisy’ overbearing, controlling and super hot grandson is a different story. He doesn’t like having a stranger in his grandma’s house, taking care of her, assisting in her crazy schemes. But there is just something about Chloe that drives Devlin crazy. Crazy in the I want to kiss you senseless way. These two are fun to read about.

If you are looking for a good, fun and sweet read I would suggest picking up a copy of Fool for Love.

Theirs is a meal worth savoring…William is as mysterious as he is passionate, but as Catherine begins to fall for the stormy-eyed billionaire, she knows she must reveal her own dark secrets. But first, William must win Cat’s heart to ensure their pasts don’t undo them.

Book 1 in The Epicurean series, A Taste of You will leave you ravenous for more of Cat and William’s story!

REVIEW:
So I picked this book because it said if you liked Fifty Shades of Grey you will like this book. And I did like that book so I thought I would try this one. Then as I started to read it I thought “great another secretive billionaire who finds a lowly brunette and he has never felt this way with anyone else.” And while that is all true this story is a bit different.

William just may be my dream guy. Yes he is rich and good looking but he is protective, possessive and the type of lover I enjoy. Cat is interesting too. She is smart and a fighter and someone I would like to be friends with. I liked that Cat’s best friend (a male) is not pushed aside by William. While he is a jealous type it does not seem to apply to her best friend.

This story is part one of the story and it leaves off with a cliffhanger. There were some parts that I was just “ok” with but mostly I enjoyed the story. BTW it has nothing to do with BDSM as Shades does. William likes control but he is not into BDSM. The sex scenes are written well even though there are a bunch of them. If you enjoy reading erotica romance then pick up this book and then hold your breath until part 2 comes out.

A Cursed Embrace Blog Tour Review and Giveaway

I am very excited today to be hosting A Cursed Embrace Blog Tour with our special guest, Cecy Robson.  The Weird Girls series is a wonderful series and I hope you all check it out.

1. Tell us a little bit about your new release A CURSED EMBRACE

A CURSED EMBRACE is the story of love, and exploding demons―I’m deadly serious. The demons have found a way to cross into our world and remain among us. This novel also delves into Celia’s relationship with Aric, a pureblood werewolf. While the action and humor found in SEALED WITH A CURSE remains, A CURSED EMBRACE is more of an emotional roller coaster.

2. Where did you come up with the idea for the Weird Girls?

My weird girls originally developed from a dream about four commando-type girls, and one who has a vision about their boyfriends being in trouble. I know nothing about the military, but I liked the idea of the girls having powers. My imagination took it from there. Since the girls were so different, they needed a bond. So I made them sisters.

3. The sisters are nurses.  Did you always plan for them to be nurses or was there another career in mind?

The sisters have always been ostracized by the human world, and have really only ever had each other to rely on. I wanted to give them careers where they could realistically work near each other in case something went wrong. And believe me, “something” goes wrong all the time. Nursing provides the perfect opportunity for the sisters to stay close to each other while giving them their own specialty to fit their personalities.

4. How many books do you plan for this series?

I have eight, already planned for Celia, two for Taran and Emme each, and one for Shayna. I also have two spin-off series planned.  There could also be more, depending on how well the novels are received.

5. What are you working on now?

I have my Old Erth series, a high fantasy romance on submission. I’m also currently working on a magical, post-apocalyptic New Adult novel tentatively titled The Falcon Series.

6. Do you have any actors in mind for each of your characters?

Of course! I’d love to have Emmy Rossum play Celia, Emmanuelle Chriqui for Taran, Lily Collins as Shayna, and Dianna Agron would make a great Emme.  I’d also love to see Alex Pettyfer portray Aric, and Taylor Kitsch would make a fantastic Misha.

7. What food or drink do you absolutely have to have while writing?

Water, hot green tea, and anything crunchy―I love blueberries to munch on and also walnuts!

8. What advice would you give to aspiring writers?

To keep writing, no matter what you hear, or how discouraged you feel. A lot of people will tell you no. And some “no’s” will feel like emotional gut punches to your soul. All it takes is one yes to launch a career.

9. Favorite type of Pizza?

 Margarita!

Thank you so much for being here today and I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy to answer my questions.

Thank you for having me, Jennifer, you’ve been so wonderful!

SERIES #: The Weird Sisters #2

CHARACTERS: Celia Wird, Aric & Misha

AUTHOR: Cecy Robson

PUBLICATION DATE:  07/02/13

ORDER LINKS:  Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS: Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other twenty-something girls–with one tiny exception: They are the products of a curse that backfired and gave each of them unique powers that made them, well, a little weird…

After Celia Wird and her sisters help master vampire Misha save his family, their powers are exposed to the supernatural community of the Lake Tahoe region. But fame comes at a price, and being “weird” isn’t always welcome.

To make matters worse, Celia desires the love of Alpha werewolf Aric, but his pack is bent on destroying their relationship to preserve his pureblood status.  And once weres start turning up dead–with evidence pointing to the vampires–she must face the prospect of losing Aric forever. But the chaos only masks a new threat.  An evil know as the Tribe has risen–and their sights are set on Celia and her sisters.

REVIEW PROVIDED BY: Jennifer             NUMBER OF STARS: Four Stars

REVIEW: I had been waiting patiently for A Cursed Embrace after reading Sealed with a Curse last year and I have to say that this book put me on the edge of my seat. There is a mysterious force at work in Lake Tahoe that is killing young men and disappearing with young women.  Celia and her sisters find that demons are involved in the rash of missing persons and now they are targeting the local weres.  I am continually amazed at how Cecy Robson creates such an intricate storyline that has you wondering how this is all going to end and will make you desperately want the next book in the series immediately.

I love Celia and Aric together and in this book, they finally act on the feelings that they have for each other and I enjoyed watching their relationship slowly develop.  Since Aric is the Alpha, being with Celia causes issues amongst his pack and there were times in this book that my heart was breaking for her because he couldn’t admit his true feelings for her.

Celia, to me, is a true heroine because not only is she strong and smart but will do everything in her power to protect the people that she loves even it means possibly losing her life in the process. Her relationship with her sisters is absolutely amazing and I just love how they take care of each other in the good times and when things are bad for one of them.

The ending of this book just about killed me and I had tears running down my face by the very last page. The storyline for this book is very intense and at times hard to stomach so please be prepared going in. Even though the subject matter isn’t light, it is well worth the roller coaster ride of emotions. A Cursed Embrace is action-packed from the very beginning and it proves that the Weird Sisters are a force to be reckoned with in the paranormal genre.  I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, Cursed by Destiny, which is out next year.

Mocha Chocolate Chip… Caramel Fudge…Strawberry Lemonade…Butter Rum…There’s no such thing as guilt when it’s another delicious bitch and bake session with the women of the Cupcake Club…

When Honey D’Amourvell inherits property on tiny Sugarberry Island, she’s prepared to start a whole new life. Her plan is simple—make a home, open a shop, and maybe, finally, find a place to belong. But the building she now owns is leased to none other than the owner of Babycakes, which means her spot is already occupied. Honey isn’t sure how to put down roots when she has nowhere to plant them. But sexy, softhearted mechanic Dylan Ross seems determined to help. He’s everything she never imagined she would find in a man, and each kiss is more persuasive than the last…

Soon enough, Honey is another important ingredient in the spicy mix of the Cupcake Club. But will Dylan convince her that what she craves most is his love?

REVIEW:
Another great Cupcake Club novel for Donna Kauffman. I was a little worried about this story in the beginning. It seemed like both Dylan and Honey were both so introverted that I could not imagine that they could connect and while they did have a bit of a connection it felt forced. But that did not take long to change. Once the real Dylan came out and he pulled Honey with him I was a goner. I could not stop reading this book.

There are two big differences with this Cupcake Club novel first there was not a lot about the Cupcake Club in it. Yes they met a couple of times but they did not have the presence that they have had in the other three books. And the other difference from other Kauffman books I have read (and I think I have read them all or close to it) is that Honey has a idiosyncrasy (no spoiler here) that is not usually written into Kauffman’s books and yet it is an intricate part of this story.

You do not need to have read the other in the series to read this one but as I usually do I say start from book one but either way you will enjoy this interesting and intriguing story.

Kimberly reviews Highland Werewolf Wedding by Terry Spear

TITLE: A Highland Werewolf Wedding
SERIES #: Heart Of The Wolf #11
CHARACTERS: Elaine & Cearnach
AUTHOR: Terry Spear
PUBLICATION DATE: 05/07/13

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Elaine Hawthorn is a gray American werewolf, currently out of work, and on a mission to share in a family treasure. When she arrives in Scotland, she nearly has a head-on collision with one hot, kilt-garbed Highlander, and runs him off the road.

Werewolf laird Cearnach MacNeill isn’t happy Elaine ruined his car, but he quickly becomes her protector after a misunderstanding lands her right in the middle of two feuding clans. Now he’s out to ensure that this sexy female wolf gets her fair share of her clan’s treasure. He knows he should leave well enough alone, but it’s too late to leave his heart out of it.

REVIEW:
This is actually the 11th in the series which I did not know when I requested it but for the most part it can stand alone. There was some parts that made me realize that other characters had their own stories but nothing I found that confused me enough to not understand the story.

This is an interesting way of writing. Being about werewolves it is set in modern times yet the story has a historical feel. I really enjoyed the story. Cearnach is a great character. He has the heart of a warrior with modern time romance in his soul. Elaine is written as strong and independent but yet she follows her heart. I enjoyed the background characters too even though honestly there was not a lot about them.

This book also had a number of wolf scenes which it seems is forgotten in a number of shape-shifter stories now. Even the connection when the characters are in wolf form is interesting.

Any fan of shape-shifter romance will love this story and as I said it can most certainly stand alone but I think I might go back and read the rest of the series one day and will definitely read the next in the series.
