Tall Dark & VampireTITLE: Tall, Dark and Vampire

CHARACTERS: Olivia & Doug
AUTHOR: Sara Humpreys
PUBLICATION DATE: 08/06/13
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
The last person Olivia Hollingsworth expected to see at her Greenwich Village vampire club was her one true love, Doug Paxton—whom she believed to be dead for centuries. Olivia thought she had moved on, but when Doug reappears, her heart knows she’d rather die than lose him again.

Ever since Doug can remember, a red-haired siren has haunted his dreams. He never thought she could be real until he goes to investigate a murder at Olivia’s night club. However, as the bodies keep piling up at her feet, he must fight to prove her innocence—even if it costs him his life.

REVIEW:
3.5 Stars Well this was not one of my favorite vampire romance stories but it was good. The writing is good if not a little wordy. I enjoyed the suspense of the story and honestly had not considered the person who it ended up being. I did enjoy that this was not your typical vampire romance.

The problem I had was the characters had little chemistry and there were a bunch of liberties taken with what we know as vampire legend. Something was just of about this story but I can’t really say what it is.

Kelly reviews Hunter’s Heart by JD Tyler

Hunters HeartTITLE: Hunter’s Heart
SERIES #: Alpha Pack #4
CHARACTERS: Ryon Hunter & Daria Bradford
AUTHOR: JD Tyler
PUBLICATION DATE: September 3, 2013
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
A group of former Navy SEALS, the Alpha Pack is a top secret team of wolf shifters with Psy powers combating the greatest dangers in the world. And when the battle gets personal, their wild side is unleashed….

Ryon Hunter sees dead people—spirits that beg him for help in ways he can’t understand. He’d do anything to end the torment, until a beautiful spirit appears to him with a plea he can’t ignore: Help me…I’m alive. The woman is wildlife biologist Daria Bradford, mortally wounded after encountering a white wolf, calling to Ryon through a rare Psy gift.

When Ryon locates Daria in the Shoshone National Park, it is almost too late, but nursing her back to health at the Alpha Pack compound brings a new complication—Daria is his destined mate, and Ryon is afraid of what will happen when she discovers what he is, and what he had to do to save her life. But the biggest threat of all is still loose in the forest, leaving a merciless trail of death behind it. The Alpha Pack goes on the hunt for the mysterious white wolf, determined to stop the murderous rogue… only to find that the most lethal creature of all is the one they can’t see coming…

REVIEW:
3.75 Stars Ryon’s gift of seeing spirits has always been troublesome for him. But when Daria’s spirit calls out for help Ryon can not just sit there and do nothing. He has to save her. He is not totally sure why just yet, and of course Nick is not saying, but Ryon knows he has to reach her before it is too late and save her by any means necessary. Even if that means by taking this chance might mean he could lose everything.

Hunter’s Heart opens up more questions than it gives answers to what really happened to the Alpha Pack the night they were attacked. But they do learn that it was not random. That it was a carefully executed plan of attack. And Daria’s uncle was one of the top rink leaders.

I really enjoyed Ryon & Daria’s story. I always love a visit to the Alpha Pack and really can’t wait to see what JD has in store for the Pack next.

Kimberly reviews The Hero by Robyn Carr

The Hero

TITLE: The Hero
SERIES #: Thunder Point #3
CHARACTERS: Devon & Spencer
AUTHOR: Robyn Carr
PUBLICATION DATE: 08/27/13
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
In a moment of desperation, Devon McAllister takes her daughter and flees a place where they should have been safe and secure. She has no idea what is around the next bend, but she is pretty certain it can’t be worse than what they’ve left behind. Her plan is to escape to somewhere she can be invisible. Instead, an unexpected offer of assistance leads her to Thunder Point, a tiny Oregon town with a willingness to help someone in need.

As the widowed father of a vulnerable young boy, Spencer Lawson knows something about needing friendship. But he’s not looking for anything else. Instead, he’s thrown his energy into his new role as Thunder Point’s high school football coach. Tough and demanding to his team, off the field he’s gentle and kind…just the kind of man who could heal Devon’s wounded heart.

Devon thought she wanted to hide from the world. But in Thunder Point, you find bravery where you least expect it…and sometimes, you find a hero.

REVIEW:
3.5 Stars So here is the thing. The story in the book is really good. The problem is the romance is almost non-existent. Devon’s story is very interesting. The struggles she has been through sucks you in and you want to know more. And I enjoyed catching up with the people from the other books.

The problem is that Spencer did not have much of a storyline at all. Almost like he was thrown into the romance. I actually felt that Devon and the Doctor had more chemistry. I am not sure why these characters were put together. When they are together they are sweet but not what I would call a true romance.

There was a lot of story about the past characters as well. As if the author wanted to tell their continued story and decided “oh what the heck I will add a new couple”. Now that being said it is still a really good story. Devon is a wonderful character and I loved reading about her situation. And if you have read the other two in the series you will most certainly want to read this one so you know what happened to the previous couples.

REVIEW:
I enjoyed this book. This was my first book by Kris Delake, yet it is book 2 in the series, which I didn’t know when I started reading. But I never really felt lost with the storyline. Will I did enjoy the book I didn’t connect completely with the world.

Kelly reviews Unforgettable by Alison Kent

Unforgettable

TITLE: Unforgettable
SERIES #: Dalton Gang #3
CHARACTERS: Boone Mitchell & Everly Grant
AUTHOR: Alison Kent
PUBLICATION DATE: August 6, 2013
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
THE DALTON BOYS TAKE THE REIGNS…

The infamous Dalton Gang was once known for riding—and playing—hard. Now, as owners of the Dalton Ranch in Crow Hill, Texas, they’re working from sunup to sundown. But one look from the right woman can tempt them back into the saddle…

When a walk on the wild side turned into a nightmare for Everly Grant, she escaped her abusive ex by taking a job with Crow Hill’s small newspaper. Now she’s assigned to write a human interest story on the return of the Dalton Gang, and she soon discovers that Boone Mitchell could give her plenty more than a good interview. As much as she craves safety, she finds herself irresistibly drawn to Boone’s dangerous streak. Before she takes the cowboy to bed, she lays down the law: There are no strings attached, and she’s the one in charge.

That’s fine for Boone. In fact, Everly teaches him things no other woman ever dared. Soon they find themselves wanting more than their simple arrangement will allow. But to get there, Everly will have to open up in ways she thought she never could…

REVIEW:
3.5 Stars This was my first Alison Kent book. I did enjoy this book. Although I think I would have liked to read book one and two in the series first. Not that I think it would have had a big impact on Unforgettable, but because I really wanted to know more about Boone’s pals.

While I enjoyed Boone & Evelyn’s story. It felt like there were too many thing unfinished at the end of the book. Yes there was a happy ending, but a lot of loose ends that were not tied off. We never got to see what Evelyn’s human interest story was. What did she write about the Dalton gang? Did she even write the story? Also what was up with Les Upton. This part of the story just feel short for me. I kept waiting and waiting for something to happen. But no. Nothing happened at all.

But over all Unforgettable was a good story and I am sure fans of The Dalton Gang will be happy with Boones’ story.

It’ll take some sweet persuasion to convince Tanna that Muddy Gap is where she belongs.

REVIEW:
This was just an okay book for me. Maybe I should have read the books before this one. I am not sure. I just never really connected with the characters, the world and the whole story in general. It was not a bad story and I like the cast of characters. It just didn’t grab me and suck me in.
I am sure that Lorelei fans will really enjoy this book and I hope that they do.

ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:

When their entire operation is thrown into chaos, Trevor enlists Isabel’s talent for deception. And as they attempt to save their team in a world where the stakes are high and the danger is grave, Trevor must convince Isabel that the woman beneath all the disguises is the one worth having.

REVIEW:
3.5 Stars Ahh Trevor & Isabel’s story. Words that come to mind are stubborn, determined and a never say die attitude. This is what you get from these two. They are both so stubborn and determined but for very different reasons.
Trevor is a man on a mission to get Isabel to see that there is way more to them then she thinks there is. And this time Trevor is not going to let her run away from him, no matter what he has to do.
Isabel may come off as tough. She may be one of the best chameleons out there. But the one thing that scares her to death is Trevor Callaghan. And for a very good reason, Trevor makes her feel.
This was a good story. Parts were a little slow. But overall I enjoyed Trevor & Isabel’s story. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

REVIEW:
3.5 Stars Brianna was saved from the death of her planet and is now trying to rebuild her life. But on her new plant it is customary for a female to mate with two men. While the idea excites her reality scares her. But in order to get the man she wants she is going to have to learn to share.
Aeron & Hauk have been mated before. There was no problems in the 1st mating. But this thing with Brianna has Aeron acting aggressive towards his brother. But after Brianna is attacked Aeron begins to see that Brianna is going to need both of them to keep her safe. And that means he has to share.
This was a quickie read. It is a novella after all. But it was a good read. I am interested to see what Savannah has in store for us next.

Kimberly reviews Complete Me by J. Kenner

Complete Me

TITLE: Complete Me
SERIES #: Stark Trilogy #3
CHARACTERS: Nikki & Damien
AUTHOR: J. Kenner
PUBLICATION DATE: 07/30/13
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
This sexy, emotionally charged romance continues the story of Damien Stark, the powerful multimillionaire who’s never had to take “no” for an answer, and Nikki Fairchild, the Southern belle who only says “yes” on her own terms.

Our desire runs deep. But our secrets cut close. Beautiful, strong, and commanding, Damien Stark fills a void in me that no other man can touch. His fierce cravings push me beyond the brink of bliss—and unleash a wild passion that utterly consumes us both.

Yet beneath his need for dominance, he carries the wounds of a painful past. Haunted by a legacy of dark secrets and broken trust, he seeks release in our shared ecstasy, the heat between us burning stronger each day.

Our attraction is undeniable, our obsession inevitable. Yet not even Damien can run from his ghosts, or shield us from the dangers yet to come.

Complete Me is an erotic romance intended for mature audiences.

REVIEW:
The third and final (I assume) installment in the Stark Trilogy. And I am on the fence about this book and the series. The story is interesting but missing something. Damien doesn’t feel like an alpha/Dom he is needy and sexually motivated. Yes we learned in the last book that he loves Nikki but it is sex with her that fuels him. And her for that matter. The sex is a character all its own in the story. It has its own heartbeat and need. And it gets too be too much. Not the kind of sex but the fact that the characters need it with every breath they take.

I wanted to know how it ended. I wanted to find the final connection between them and I guess I did but it didn’t have the love connection I wanted. Sex was still involved in the three-some of their lives. The story is just not enough to compete with the sex that is in the story. I actually wonder if separated it would not have been a better story (or two).

If you enjoy the erotica genre with a BDSM flare than sure you will probably enjoy it but the rest of the story might just fall flat. But most certainly start with the first in the series because part 2 and 3 can NOT stand alone.

Noah Rackham, popular, attractive, successful, is shocked when Adelaide won’t have anything to do with him. He has no idea that his very presence reminds her of something she’d rather forget. He only knows that he’s finally met a woman he could love.

REVIEW:
This was an okay story for me. I didn’t love or hate it. I just have issues with some types of storylines. While I think that Brenda did a good job with it, I still don’t like to read about it. I do plan on visiting Whiskey Creek again.

Kimberly reviews Eyes Wide Open by Raine Miller

Eyes Wide Open

TITLE: Eyes Wide Open
SERIES #: The Blackstone Affair #3
CHARACTERS: Brynne & Ethan
AUTHOR: Raine Miller
PUBLICATION DATE: 05/14/13
ORDER LINKS: Amazon | B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
The third part in The Blackstone Affair series: A love on the brink of being destroyed. The fight of a lifetime to keep it alive.

Big surprises are on the horizon for Ethan and Brynne as they struggle to adjust to what life has thrown at them. A truly devastating loss coupled with the promise of a new hope opens their eyes to what is most important, but is it possible for the lovers to move on from the painful histories that continue to haunt them? A stalker is still lurking in the shadows, plotting evil amidst the distraction of the 2012 Olympic games in London. Brynne and Ethan are on the cusp of losing everything as the stakes rise. Will they yield to circumstances beyond their control or will they give every ounce of fight they have left to save each other and win the ultimate prize of a life together?

Eyes Wide Open is a passion-wrought story that shows us what pure love can achieve when tested and what the heart can accomplish despite danger and adversity.

REVIEW:
3.5 Stars This is the third in the Blackstone Affair series and probably the best of the bunch. I was a little worried about this one after having read the second one which did not have the same feel as the first and while the first was not the best book I had ever read it was interesting and this story went back to the basic of the story and was much better.

The storyline is interesting in this book. The stalker is still in the book which was the understory of all three books but in the end we find out who it is. The problem is that Ethan still seems to immature in this relationship. He has become obsessed with Brynne in my opinion and it just seems he is not only obsessed with Brynne’s safety (understandable) but also with sex with her and knowing every aspect of her day. He is just not the alpha Dom that I think the author was trying to get across instead he seems needy and desperate. Brynne in this book actually seems more down to earth. Yes she goes through some emotions but it is understandable with her past and what is going on.

Sure give this book a try if you are into the erotic and romance/suspense type books. I doubt you will be sorry you did.

Dont bite the bridesmaid

TITLE: Don’t Bite The Bridesmaid
SERIES #: Sons of Kane #1
CHARACTERS: Alice & Noah
AUTHOR: Tiffany Allee
PUBLICATION DATE: 05/27/13
ORDER LINKS: Amazon| B&N

BOOK SYNOPSIS:
Alice Shepard needs one thing: a date for her sister’s wedding. And not just any date. A hunk who will make her fiancé rue the day he left her for her best friend. Her drop-dead gorgeous neighbor fits the bill—even if he is a bit quirky and never comes out during the day—and Alice has downed just enough appletinis to ask him. But she makes it quite clear that there will be no funny business.

Spending a week on a cruise ship full of humans while sleeping close to his sexy next-door neighbor sounds like a helluva bad idea to vampire Noah Thorpe. But his friends need time to get him out of a shotgun wedding—a vampire bonding that will tie his fate to a female vampire he’s never met. And Alice’s offer comes at just the right time.

What could possibly go wrong?

REVIEW:
3.5 Stars This is a cute story with more of a contemporary feel than a paranormal even though Noah is a vampire. The characters are very cute together and while it is a vampire romance it has a bit of a different storyline than a lot of paranormal romance.

While short parts of the story went on a bit too long. But it is really cute so worth it. If you enjoy a contemporary paranormal with vampires then this is the book for you.
