Keri Ford Guest Blog & Giveaway

Keri has taken over the blog and we are talking about kissing… Great topic. Please make Keri feel welcome.
Take it away Keri….
Kissing. And Smooching.
Thanks Kelly for having me out today! I can’t wait to talk to your readers about something most all romance readers love.
Since this is Books-N-Kisses what better topic is there than the act of smooching? Frenching. Locking lips. Tonsil Hockey. Dancing tongues…okay, I’ll stop. In my latest release, Satisfying Her Tastes Rebecca Gabel is after one kiss.
To start with. But to get more, she knows she needs to get that one first kiss. She creates a plan that doesn’t really work out, BUT with some courage to take action, she does get that kiss. That quick moment becomes everything she’d hoped it would be and surprisingly, a little bit more.
Writing Rebecca’s nerves and anxiousness to feel wrapped up in Grant’s arms took me back a little. Back to a kiss I’ll never forget. It was a fall night. Warm perhaps. Maybe cool. I couldn’t say because he was there. Eight inches taller than me. Chest broad. Strong shoulders. Much like Rebecca, I knew what I wanted. I was 17 and had no idea how to get it.
Let’s be honest here. Good little southern girls don’t go around asking boys for kisses on their first date. J I may wear those devil horns on twitter, but I was a good girl in high school.
While Rebecca is rumored to be that bad girl, images are not always as they appear. Rebecca may come across as confident and flirty, but inside, she’s insecure and is trying to navigate what she wants with how to get it. She’s no teenager either, but she’s had some complications in her life that’s left her struggling with taking action. You’ll have to read the book to see how this first kiss works out for her.
Lucky for me, I didn’t have to take much action to get my first kiss. The guy was 18. And well, you know how 18 year old boys are. He was so shy, but not much comes between a teenage boy getting his hands on girl when opportunity is there. J

Giveaway Time

Tell me about a kiss. Doesn’t have to be your first, but one with someone you’ll never forget. Or for reasons, a kiss you’ll never forget. That boy I kissed when I was 17? I married him. For the last 11years I’ve been kissing that same boy. I’m anxious to do it again.

Leave me a comment & email address and you’ll be entered for a chance to win an electronic copy of Satisfying Her Tastes

We will leave giveaway open until Sept 17th
Winner will be announced on Sept 19th.

Thanks for having me today!

I’ll check back in through the day for comments—if you have any questions about the series, ask away!

To Celebrate Teresa D’Amario’s newest release Blood Moon Betrayed. I have let Teresa take over the blog…

Hi Kelly! It’s wonderful to be back at your blog! I noticed you’ve redesigned, and it looks great!! Thanks so much for being the host of my release party for Blood Moon Betrayed! Hip hip hooray! I thought I’d never get this book finished. It had enough twists and turns to keep me on my toes. My editor was afraid to send it back to me for fear I’d keep adding more. But Sean and Caden just didn’t want this book to end! And when it did, well, let’s say some things are better read than shared. So for today’s party I invited Sean for an interview. I was going to ask Caden to interview him for us, but that girl can’t keep a secret, and if she gives you all the juicy parts, then nobody’s gonna want to read the book!

So I stepped up to the plate to interview Sean Hunt myself. When I entered the room, Sean was already seated, one ankle cocked over the other knee in a casual, relaxed pose. He was tall, and where Kieran was wide, he was slim and well muscled. He gave a curt nod and I sat down.

TD: So Sean, What did you think of a book being written about you?

SH: *looks uncomfortable, and glances toward the door then back at me* I’m not so much into the idea myself. Caden might like it, but not me. I like my personal space.

TD: I can understand that. Having your entire life out in the open must be difficult. But you have to admit, things get pretty exciting in that wolven world of yours. So tell me, Why did Laura, your last wife, leave you?

SH: None of your damned business. *Fist on his thigh tightens*

TD: Uhm, okay. Don’t worry, I’m not trying to be rude or anything. I just wanted our readers to understand where you are in this book when it starts. You had a pretty tough time earlier and stepped down as the Alpha of your pack. Isn’t that unusual?

SH: It is.

Those piercing green eyes hold mine for long seconds. At last I’m able to look away.

TD: Right. Uhm. Maybe I should have had Caden do this after all.

SH: *shifts in his seat, dropping his foot to the floor and facing me straight on.* Look, Caden told me to cooperate with you so I will.

TD: Or she’ll do what?

SH: *A small grin curves on those luscious lips*. More of what she’ll do after I answer your questions.

TD: Ahhh. I get it. I can’t help the smile creeping across my face. Ok, so let’s try this again, shall we? Why did Laura leave you?

SH: Laura was a pure bitch. When she realized she couldn’t control the pack through me, after I stepped down, she left.

TD: And why did you step down?

SH: *frowning* Some things went down and my daughters were hurt. I didn’t protect them as I should.

TD: But weren’t you taken captive at that time too? How were you supposed to protect them?

SH: I just was. Can we drop it?

TD: Oh, all right. So tell me about Caden.

An odd look passes over Sean’s face. Almost peaceful. Not something I’d expect to see in a shifter. At least, not this shifter.

SH: She’s beautiful. She accepts me for what I am. And a fighter. Damn, that woman can fight when she has to.

TD: So she has to fight for you, does she?

SH: For that you’ll have to read the book. Wait, you wrote the book.

TD: Ha ha, very funny Sean. And how are your daughters? I know they have kept you very busy.

Sean bolted from his seat, and paced about the room.

SH: I promised Caden I’d answer your questions, but that’s too much. If you want those answers, read the book. I’m out of here.

The room reverberated with the violence of the door slammed behind him as Sean departed.

TD: Well folks, I guess to find the answer to that last question, you’ll have to read Blood Moon Betrayed, but it’s all there for you – bringing full circle back to the unanswered questions in SheWolf! And of course it’s not one of my books without a book trailer created by none other than myself:

Of Course I have to have party favors too! So one person will get a free e-copy of whichever of the three books they haven’t read: SheWolf, Dark Succession, or Blood Moon Betrayed – but only one, folks. No fair saying you haven’t read any of them and want all three. LOL It would be definitely flattering, but not quite fair.

Interview & Giveaway with Holden Granger

Hi Holden, Welcome back to Books-n-Kisses.  Thank you for doing a guest blog back in June.  Thank you for taking time to sit down and talk about your newest release Amateur Night.
Holden: Thanks, it really is a pleasure to be able to share my story with your readers.
Q1) Tell us about Amateur Night
Holden: I look at every erotic romance as the story of a seduction. The characters not only seduce each other, but also themselves by taking a chance that they may find something wonderful and exciting in the process. My heroine is a medical student who takes herself a little too seriously. She takes a cross-country road trip with the class party-boy that she secretly admires for his looks and his care-free style. When their car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, she has the opportunity to be someone else for a night and embrace a care-free style of her own. The adventure has risks, but also comes with the chance of a red-hot reward!
Q2) How did you come up with the idea for this story?
Holden: It was one of those rare inspirations that come almost fully-formed and put me into a fever-pitch of excitement to get it down on paper before it slips away!
Q3) Have you always wanted to be an author?
Holden: I started writing after I realized I was missing creative energy in my life. I’ve always enjoyed great writing, and I wanted to experience the process myself.
Q4) What is your most interesting writing quirk?
Holden: I can only write late at night. There’s something about the dark stillness of the night that brings out my inner storyteller.
Q5) Tell us 10 fun facts about yourself
Holden: I have traveled extensively in Europe and India, I am a certified SCUBA diver, I once worked as a private investigator, My favorite city is Miami (New Orleans a close second), I study the history of religions for fun, I had to sell my motorcycle because I drove it too fast, I am an ordained minister (bought online), My favorite writers include Patrick O’Brian and John Norwich, I’ve lived in seven states, and I am a man writing in a genre almost entirely written by women.
Q6) What is your favorite part of writing?
Holden: The best part of writing is finishing! When I write that last line it is like completing a marathon, I have to race to get it done while the inspiration is still with me.
Q7) Worst piece of advice you ever received about becoming an author?
Holden: Early on I was told to write for myself and it didn’t matter if anyone else ever read it. I want other people to read and be entertained by what I write, that’s my purpose.
Q8) If you had a super power what would it be and why?
Holden: As a writer, I would want the power to read minds. Understanding the motivations of people is what I find writing to really be about.
Q9) What is your current work in progress?
Holden: I have taken the plunge into the world of the paranormal. I felt the attraction of being able to create a world all my own.
Q10) Anything else you would like to add?

Holden: I really enjoy the feedback of my readers. I welcome comments at holdengranger@yahoo.com. Read Amateur Night and tell me how you like it!

Holden, again Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down with me and share your story.  I look forward to reading more of your books in the future.

Ava Riley Guest Post & Giveaway

Books-n-Kisses is very happy to let Ava Riley take over the blog today.   Please read Ava’s post and don’t forget to leave a comment to enter her giveaway…. Take it away Ava.
First let me start out by saying a big Thank You to Kelly for inviting me to spend some time with her and her wonderful followers.  It is truly an honor!
As I contemplated what exactly I could talk about with you all a million (and then one) things ran through my feeble little mind.  I’ve been on blogs that have asked why I got into writing, how I got into writing, am I like any of my characters, etc. etc.  Those are nice little tidbits to have about Lil’ ‘ole me, but not really all that interesting or fun.
So, here is the one millionth and one thing I thought of (ok, I didn’t really think of that many *grins*).  When we pick up a book to read, before we even open the cover or turn on the e-reader, we want to like/fall in love with the characters.  As an author, it’s my job to make you fall in love with them.  For me, as a woman, I want to read about the independent, yet love hungry woman who can take care of herself, but really wants the gentle touch of a man.  The mental badass (or physical) woman who isn’t afraid to tell the man she loves what she wants, when she wants it.  She isn’t domineering when it comes to her man, but she takes what she wants, especially in the bedroom.  In A Lifetime to Find Love, Tessa is just this type of person.  Independent, hardworking, not afraid to take charge of a situation.  In Sacred Surrender, Madison comes into her own and owns the power that lies within her.  These are women that I want to surround myself with.  And let’s not forget what we want out of our men: Strong in body and mind, gentle when it comes to their women and definitely takes charge in the bedroom (and even in the kitchen).  I love a man who wakes with me in the morning and cooks me breakfast.  Both Cade and Rowan not only know how to treat their women, but are man enough to allow their women to see the softer side of the manliness.
Characters don’t always have to have flaws (honestly we see that every day in our lives).  We want to get away from reality and that’s why we escape into the wonderful world of reading.  Sure we want the drama, but more than anything we want the “clear the table with the swipe of a hand and push me down on top of it, spreading my legs and burying yourself deep within me,” kind of escape.  And honestly, if I don’t absolutely LOVE the characters, I’d rather kick them in the balls and move on.
So, when I set out to write a book/story, I’m more concerned with the personality, wants, desires, and strengths of my characters than I am with the location or the weather.  All the rest falls into place after I’m totally convinced that I want to hang with the women or want to screw the hell of the guys.
Again, thank you to Kelly for allowing me to visit today.  It is also a privilege to giveaway a copy of A Lifetime to Find Love and Sacred Surrender (in pdf format) to one reader.  It’s simple, just leave a comment about what makes you fall in love with a character and Kelly will choose a winner.  Good luck all and thanks again!
Happy Reading!
Ava Riley

Guest blog with Rebecca Royce

Books-n-Kisses is pleased to let Rebecca Royce take over the blog today. Take it away Rebecca.

Coming Up With Something New
All I hear about all the time is that vampires are over. Werewolves are over. Demons are over. Dragons are last year.  Really? They’re over?  As a writer, my heart starts to pound.  Oh god. What am I going to write about?
So, I come up with something new that I love writing about. Psychics being locked away in Institutions to keep everyone else safe.  I get excited and invested in these characters.
Then I am told that no one will want to read about psychics locked up behind bars.  Okay.  Once again, there I am sitting there with my heart pounding. What am I going to do?
Well, thank goodness my publisher didn’t agree about the psychics and that readers continue to want to see werewolves.  I don’t know what is over and what isn’t. I’m not sure anything is over and fortunately people don’t seem to be against reading new things either.
What do you think? Is anything over?

Eye Contact by Rebecca Royce

The Conditioned, Book one
Thirty years ago, after the breakdown of an oil negotiation, the President of the United States decided that all people born with unusual abilities, which he would now refer to as “the condition”, would be locked away from the general public where they couldn’t harm others. Parents and loved ones of these people, most of whom were children, were forced to turn them in upon penalty of death. Formed to keep the institutions secure, the Committee for the Protection of a Free Society now rules these institutions with an iron fist.

The granddaughter of one the Committee members, Addison Wade has lived her life wary of the institutions and all they represent. A woman of secrets, she is forced to turn to Safe Dawn, one of the facilities designed to hold conditioned people, when her nephew is kidnapped and, despite her best efforts, cannot be recovered. She knows the last thing anyone in ‘Safe Dawn’ will want to do is to help a Wade with any problems, but she is desperate and out of options.

Spencer Lewis is famous for being the premier conditioned ‘locator.’ There’s no one he can’t find and he has a soft spot for missing children. But, Spencer has been through a trauma and locating Jeremy Wade may be dangerous both to himself and to those around him. In addition, he takes one look at ice cold Addison Wade and wants nothing more than to knock her down a peg. Never having turned down an opportunity to help a child, he reluctantly agrees to help recover Jeremy.

In a world where nothing is as it seems and every person they encounter has his own agenda, Addison and Spencer will find that the only people they can trust are each other. But how can anyone fall in love living in a world that wants you dead just for being born?
About Rebecca: As a teenager, I would hide in my room to read my favorite romance novels when I was supposed to be doing my homework.  I hope, these days, that my parents think it was worth it.
I am the mother of three adorable boys and I am fortunate to be married to my best friend.  We live in northern New Jersey and try not to freeze too badly during the winter months.
I am in love with science fiction, fantasy, and the paranormal and try to use all of these elements in my writing.  I’ve been told I’m a little bloodthirsty so I hope that when you read my work you’ll enjoy the action packed ride that always ends in romance. I love to write series because I love to see characters develop over time and it always makes me happy to see my favorite characters make guest appearances in other books.
In my world anything is possible, anything can happen, and you should suspect that it will.
I’d love to hear from you!

7 Date Night Ideas to Keep the Romance Alive by Ambrielle Kirk

Need some ideas for a fun date night with your significant other. Try something else besides dinner and a movie, here are some suggestions:
1.       A carpet picnic! Lay a blanket on the floor and have a picnic, complete with chocolate covered strawberries. No need to venture outside, especially if the weather isn’t picnic-worthy.
2.       Create a mixed CD of both your favorite tunes. On your next long trip together, you won’t have to argue about which radio station to listen to.
3.       On a stormy night, play a game of Twister.
4.       Role playing. Put on a sexy costume, and act out your favorite scenario.
5.       Take a dancing class together. Learn the tango or samba.
6.       Strap on some skates or grab a skateboard and head out to your local park.
7.       Jacuzzi time! Take times pampering each other while in the bath together, complete with wine and romantic tunes.
When you’re not spending time with your honey, why not enjoy a romantic read.

A Review of Haunted Hearts by Carolyn Rosewood

Haunted Heart by Carolyn Rosewood
All Rowena Sommers wants is a quiet life away from Hollywood gossip and her vicious Oscar-winning ex-boyfriend Brett Fontaine. Her career and reputation in a shambles, thanks to Brett, Rowena returns home to restore her ancestral home and soak up some familiar, hometown sympathy. But having won a twenty-million-dollar defamation suit against Brett hasn’t endeared her to the hometown fans, and the man she’s hired to restore the old home is none other than the ex-jock who used her cruelly in high school to win a bet. And now a paranormal investigator is telling her the place may be haunted.

Van Whitney is no stranger to gossip. He’s been struggling to keep his family’s restoration business afloat, and when he agrees to restore Rowena’s home, he vows to keep their relationship professional. His childhood friend has become a beautiful, sexy woman, but she attracts gossip like flies to honey. When strange things start happening at the house, Van discovers secrets upon secrets, and a plot that may be other than it seems. But his attraction to Rowena might be more dangerous than anything from the past…

Natasha’s Thoughts:
First off let me start by saying how much this story surprised me. It was a mystery and romance all rolled into one which I LOVED!! I loved how Carolyn wrote the story without all the extra drama of secrets and let the characters be open and honest; really say what was on their minds. Sometimes it is so refreshing to see the characters just open up and see where things will lead. I loved this story and I could barley put it down! I loved how Rowena was vulnerable and strong all at the same time; and how Van was so genuine and heartfelt. It was such a fun read and kept me interested the entire time. Just because of this book I am going in search of more Carolyn Rosewood books, she’s amazing and has a fan in me!

My Interview with Charley Davidson

*walks into the room and jumps finding Charley is already here and she doesn’t look happy*

Kelly: *waves* Oh, Hey Charley you are early.

Charley: Yeah, I had a little too much coffee this morning.

Kelly:  Thank you for stopping by to talk to me.

Charley: No problem. Got any coffee?

Kelly: So I bet you are wondering why you are here?

Charley: Is it to try out your new coffeemaker?

Kelly: Well as you know Darynda was on my blog a few weeks back and we got to talking about you, your life story and of course Reyes.  So I figured I would give you equal air time.

Charley: *cringe* Reyes is a little angry with me at the moment. I kind of bound his incorporeal self to his corporeal self, but I had a really good reason.

Kelly: Everyone wants to know more about Reyes, but I would like to know more about you.  What makes Charley tick?

Charley: Besides coffee? Well, I’m very fond of green chile stew, guacamole burgers, the son of Satan. Things like that. Oh, and solving murders. Few things are more satisfying.

Kelly: Tell me how you feel about Darynda telling your stories?

Charley: First of all, she never tells the story quite right. I mean, I like coffee, but I don’t drink it 24/7. More like 22/7. And I do ponder things other than Reyes. Lots of things. Like yesterday I was pretending to dust the office, slaving over that duster thingy, wiping my brow every so often and sighing until Cookie, my best friend-slash-receptionist, took pity on me and finished the dusting herself. That kind of acting takes preparation. A concentrated effort. I only thought of Reyes three times throughout that whole ordeal.

Kelly: Is there things that you really wished she would leave out or add more of?  I heard something about a night with the chess club in high school.

Charley: Ah, yes, the night that will forever live in infamy. But you’re right. That kind of stuff really doesn’t need to be mentioned. Fortunately, there was this night with a fighter attack squadron from the Air Force base that did not make it into any of her books. Least not that I know of. I’ve only read the first one. Or, well, the first few chapters of the first one. And just for the record, I’m not THAT much of a smartass.

Kelly: If you were not the Grim Reaper (which I think is pretty kick ass) what would you do for a living?

Charley: I have a nice crack. I could’ve been a plumber. And I really like tattoos on men. I would love to have done something with tattoos. And men. Mostly men.

Kelly: What is the best part of your job as a Reaper?

Charley: Helping people cross. I get to see bits and pieces of their lives, who they loved, what their favorite color was. It’s a great honor.

Kelly:  Okay I have to ask Reyes… What is it about him that makes you go weak in the knees?

Charley: It’s one thing to see Reyes, to witness such utter perfection, but it’s another beast entirely to be touched by him, to hear his voice, smooth like fine whiskey and just as intoxicating. He is breathtaking, yes, but he is also the most powerful being I’ve ever met. To know this as he runs his fingertips over my skin is like being caught in a silken snare. On one hand, it’s intimidating. On another, I never want to leave it.

Kelly:  So I know some people have not had a chance to read your stories yet.  What would you tell them about you books to make them read them?  I mean besides heavy breathing on the phone and possible death threats?

Charley: I would just say that if they want to know more about me, about what I do as the grim reaper, there’s no better avenue. You could come to Albuquerque and follow me around, but that’s stalking and I’d probably have my Uncle Bob arrest you. No offense. Darynda does a pretty good job getting the facts down. She needs to brush up on grammar and such, but that should come with time. And she makes a mean mocha latte.

Kelly:  Charley, I have to say I was a little intimidated to have you here today. Being the Grim Reaper and all, but you are a wonderful girl.  And is it wrong of me to say that I was *pinches fingers together* kinda hoping Reyes would pop in.  Thank you for taking time away from your life for a few minutes to talk with me.

Charley: You are very welcome. Thank you for having me. Sadly, if Reyes had popped in incorporeally, you wouldn’t have been able to see him, but you would have known it when he brushed across your skin. There are few things on earth that hot.

Kelly:  Charley, what do you say we giveaway and audio version of Second Grave on the Left to one lucky commenter?

Charley: I think that’s a great idea! I love the way Lorelei King narrates the audiobooks. She makes me sound good. Kinda sexy. Kinda schizophrenic. Or maybe that’s just me projecting.

Kelly:  Do you think we should ask them to answer a question as part of the rules? Got any suggestions?

Charley: I would love to ask your readers if they were surprised to learn that the grim reaper is a chick. I know I was.

Kelly:  Again thanks for stopping by Charley… Maybe next time I can get you, Reyes & Darynda to sit down and talk… *rubs hands together* that would be really fun.

Charley: That would be fantastic, but trying to wrangle Reyes in for any length of time can be tricky. We’ll need rope. And possibly a Taser.
Thank you again for having me! Darynda speaks very highly of you, Kelly Sue!

Kelly:  Ahhhh Thanks Charley, I am very fond of Darynda too, & you!!! Oh and I can get a hold of a Taser and some very thick ropes!!!
