Meet Me at the Cupcake Café
by Jenny Cogan
July 2013
Baking is in Issy Randall’s blood. Growing up above her grandfather’s bakery taught Issy that a delicious pastry could make any day better. So when she’s laid off from her desk job—by the man she thought was her boyfriend, no less—Issy knows now is the time to start her own little café.
Armed with her grandfather’s tried and true recipes, as well as her own new dishes, Issy’s new dream job should be a piece-of-cake, right? But managing a café, delivering products on time and trying to have a new love life aren’t exactly going as Issy planned. And when her ex comes back into the picture, perhaps with his own motives, Issy’s search for the perfect pastry and a groundbreaking idea to save her café are much more than she bargained for…
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Jenny Colgan was a fussy eater as a child and didn’t even begin to learn to cook until she was 21, when her then boyfriend tried to teach her a few basics purely out of exasperation. While she is now able to make a variety of good, wholesome food for her family, she still can’t make scones. A former columnist for The Guardian, Jenny contributes regularly to national BBC radio and is the bestselling author of more than eleven novels, including The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris (coming out in the US in early 2014). She is married with three children and lives in London and France. For more information, please visit http://www.jennycolgan.com/ and follow her on Twitter, @JennyColgan.

My favorite has to be brownies…any kind it really doesn’t matter. My husband however prefers oatmeal raisin cookies. Go figure.
My favorite has to be Key Lime Pie. My adopted son is a graduate of the C.I.A. and is the best baker in the world. He makes them for me for all the holidays.
thanks for the fun post and giveaway!!! I love brownies… especially warm w/ ice cream 🙂

What could be sweeter than a “sweet” and humorous romance by Jenny Colgan?! Not much. I’m glad I entered this blog’s e-mail today so that I could find out more about you, Jenny. Glad you’re in the U.S. for awhile! Hope you have fun and have continued success with your books. BTW, I love the idea of a recipe in each book!
I forgot to tell you my fave baked good. It’s a homemade cherry pie, served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!
I love bear claws… But I don’t make them myself… In fact, I’m not that good of a baker. 🙁
My favorite baked goodies are definitely brownies! However, I love to bake. Thank you for sharing the excerpt and introducing me to this book and author, I love the concept and can’t wait to read it 🙂 Appreciate the chance to win 🙂
Favorite baked good would have to be snickerdoodles 🙂
Tiramisu
I love Key Lime Pie, your book sounds very good,
Penney
Chocolate cheesecake
chocolate chip cookies
I’m really torn about my favorite because I like both homemade brownies from scratch – we have a cake like brownie recipe and I also like our crunchy chocolate chunk cookies and I also have a thing about a Marble Chiffon Cake (which is the hardest to make). Thanks for the info on the book – was not able to pin the image because it didn’t work on Pinterest
My favorite would have to be brownies – followed closely by coconut cream pie (meringue, not cream topping); pecan pie, and pumpkin pie (Libby’s recipe).
This sounds like a great book. I have so many favorites but chocolate cookies fresh from the oven I cannot resist.
Ice cream and cookies.
I have a terrible sweet tooth but I have to say I love cheesecake…no toppings, just glorious cheescake…thank you for the giveaway!!!
Oh man … what baked goods DON’T I like?? But my favorite is cheesecake.
Hard question – love my desserts –
Rhubarb pie.
Chocolate Fudge Cake.
The next one?
But for the sake of argument, let’s say it’s my grandmother’s Blitz Torte.
Cheesecake. MmMmMm…
