Books-n-Kisses is pleased to welcome Caridad Pinerio back to the blog today. We are excited to share and talk about her two upcoming releases.
Caridad, can you please share with us a little about yourself: I am a mom, wife and writer and I also still have my full time job. I started writing in the fifth grade when my English teacher assigned a project – to write a book for a class lending library. I currently write paranormal romance and romantic suspense, but will also be going back to writing some contemporary romances shortly.
Have you always wanted to be an author? I have wanted to be an author since the fifth grade when I wrote my first book for that class project. I knew then that I wanted to write more books and get them published.
Can you share with us your typical writing day. Is there anything you have to have while writing? I still work so I usually write on the train on the way in and out of New York City. On weekends I do most of my writing since I will be spend anywhere from four to six hours writing. When I write on the weekends, I will either watch a television show or movie that matches my mood or I will write out on my balcony when the weather is nicer.
Most challenging or rewarding part of writing? The most challenging part is dealing with revisions since sometimes your vision differs from that of the editor. The most rewarding part is meeting readers and talking to them about what they like in their stories.
Can you please tell us about your latest book? I have two new releases! THE SHIFTER’S KISS is erotic paranormal romance about a shark shifting goddess who is the last of her kind. Nali, the heroine, cannot resist the scarred firefighter who saves her life and challenges her to leave the sea for his love. GHOST OF A CHANCE is a paranormal romance mystery set on the Jersey Shore. It’s about a group of people who are joined together to try and solve an eighty-year old mystery and discover a ghostly presence that may provide them the clues they need.
How did you come with the idea for this story? Both were inspired by my time by the shore. I live right near the Shark River where rum runners used to bring in alcohol during Prohibition and this inspired GHOST OF A CHANCE. There are also sharks in the Shark River and I thought it would be interesting to have scenes that were done under the sea.
Can you share with us your current work in progress? I just finished the sequel to THE PRINCE’S GAMBLE (tentative title TO CATCH A PRINCESS) and it was a lot of fun. It’s a romantic suspense set in Monaco where a jewel thief is trying steal some very rare and priceless jewels. Right now I’m finishing the third book in the relaunched THE CALLING/REBORN vampire novel series. This book will give readers another view into Diana and Ryder’s life (they’ve had some massive changes!) and also the story of Michaela, a dhampir vampire Slayer, and FBI Assistant Director in Charge Jesus Hernandez. This story is sexy, exciting and action-packed!
Who are some of your favorite authors? J.D. Robb, Larissa Ione, Jeaniene Frost, and so many others. I love to read!
Do you feel that any of your favorite authors have inspired your writing style? I don’t think so. I’ve tried to create my own style and voice, but I do read other writers to see how the execute their story arcs, etc.
Open your book to a random page and tell us what’s happening.
On this page, Victor has just realized that Nali is trapped by some spear fisherman because of his actions and he’s deciding what to do in order to help her. He realizes he as only one choice: Put himself in the line of fire so she can escape.
What is in your To Read Pile that you are dying to start or upcoming release you can’t wait for? I can’t wait to read the latest IN DEATH release. I had gotten all caught up, but now I’ve fallen behind again.
Is there anything else you would like to add? I love to hear from readers and spend time with them, so please take the time to visit with me online or at signings and conferences.

Thanks, Caridad, for taking the time for this blog interview despite your super busy schedule! As I may have said before, paranormal romance and romance+suspense are fave genres of mine…and your writing tops the list for those genres! I haven’t read a shifter story about sharks before, so I would like to read it to find out how you deal with that particular species. And I love ghost stories, so, of course, I want to read Ghost of a Chance. 🙂 I haven’t been shopping for a book for awhile due to a backlog of stories on my e-reader. But I will visit your author pages on Amazon…SOON!
Thanks so much, Janice! I appreciate the support and hope you will enjoy the stories! Thanks for Books’N Kisses for letting me visit with you today!
