Books-n-Kisses is pleased to welcome Beth Kerry to the blog today. We are talking about her latest releases When I’m With You & Because You Are Mine.
Beth, can you please share with us a little about yourself?
I’m a long time city girl who loves art (which is why artists often show up in my books), travel, food and cooking, shoes and red wine, in no particular order. I love to observe people. My husband says I’m a paradox, because I seem so quiet and reserved and serious, but I’m really not at all, once you get to know me. I’m not rambunctious or anything, but I certainly have a silly streak. When something strikes me as funny, I will laugh until I cry.
Have you always wanted to be an author?
No. I had a completely different career previously, and a doctorate degree in an unrelated field. I was always an avid reader, but didn’t think about attempting a romance novel until I was in my 20’s. I’d read in all genres, but just thought I could write sexy romance, for some reason.
What is your most interesting writing quirk?
I don’t know if it’s interesting, but here goes: I live in the middle of the city but I’m strangely sensitive about outdoor noise. So I have the room set up where I write soundproofed with white noise. My sister jokingly calls it the ‘womb’ because it’s very relaxing and insulated in the midst of a bustling city.
Can you please tell us about your latest book(s)?
Yes, When I’m With You, is a serialized erotic romance being released presently, every Tuesday for 8 weeks. So this is one hefty novel being released in 8 installments. It’s in the ‘world’ of Because You Are Mine, which also released initially in serial format. Ian and Francesca, the hero and heroine of Because You Are Mine, are important characters and their story is furthered. The main hero and heroine, however, are Lucien and Elise. This couple has known each other since childhood/early adulthood and both are trying to make meaningful lives for themselves outside of the gilded cage of privilege, greed and wealth. Lucien has a big secret about his motives for being inChicago, however, and it’s a mystery Elise might unknowingly divulge because of her history with him. This is a smoking hot, sexy romance, but there’s also an edge of suspense as Lucien’s, Elise’s and Ian’s story unfolds. Lucien and Elise are electric together. I think it’s one of the best sexual tension and erotic content I’ve written to date.
How did you come up with the idea for this story?
I was brainstorming with my editor at RWA last year about the story arc begun in Because You Are Mine. The seeds of the plot of When I’m With You, and the next book in the series, Because We Belong, were actually already in place in Because You Are Mine. Mostly, it was just a matter of bringing those seeds to fruition. I love the subtleties of the three books, and how characterization is so tightly woven to the action of the plot. I think it’ll be fun for readers to go back and re-read once all three books are out, and see how hints became fully fleshed out in later books.
Can you share with us your current work(s) in progress?
I just finished Because We Belong, which moves Ian and Francesca back onto center stage. I had a very satisfied, good feeling about how I left things with one of my favorite couples.
Who is the one author that you would love to meet someday and why?
I’ve been fortunate enough to meet so many of my favorite romance authors at conferences. I’m a long time fan of Sandra Brown, however, and I’ve never been able to meet her. She writes sexual tension like no other. I enjoyed her older Loveswept, classic contemporary romances and I love her romantic suspense and suspense as well. I’m always looking to see if she’s at conferences I go to, but I’ve never had the opportunity arise to meet her thus far.
What is the best piece of advice you would give to someone that wants to get into writing?
If you love it, don’t give up. This can be a really tough field, and rejection and criticism are inevitable. Build up a healthy armor against naysayers, learn from feedback, but don’t let it dampen your love of telling a story.
Can you share with us something off your bucket list?
Actually, I’m checking off something from my bucket list this year. I’m spending New Years in Londonwith my sisters and nieces—girls’ vacation in a beautiful condo right in the middle of things.Londonis one of my favorite cities, and I can’t wait to spend time there with some of my favorite people. Kyla,
So funny you mentioned this. Ever since Wicked Burn, which came out in 2008, I do believe pearls have become my trademark. If you have read it, you will know why.
But yes. In answer to your question, I think pearls are the most understated, classy, elegant jewel. I love them.
There’s an old cliche, which are you, a pearl or a diamond. I would say pearl. Diamonds are wonderful, and I love them, but pearls are so much more sensual and sophisticated. Yes, diamonds cost more. But if I were going by the thing itself…how it feels against my skin, the soft lighting of the gems, the way they click together so sensually…I’m a Pearl Girl. 🙂
Love the interview and can´t wait for my chance to read!
Happy Friday!

Will there be a complete novel of When I’m with you? (Like there is with Because you are mine)
Thank you to Books-n-Kisses for having me!
Stephanie, the publisher has not yet announced whether When I’m With You will go to print. I hope it will. Because You Are Mine went to print/complete because the sales of the ebook/serial were good.
Warm Regards,
Beth
I loved Because You Are Mine!! I can wait to read When I’m With You!
I loved Because You are Mine and can’t wait to read When I’m With You. One of my very favorite books is Tricked Truths, that one really stuck with me long after reading it. I enjoyed reading the interview, especially about writing in the womb – lol. 🙂
Rosarita–lol. Yes about the womb. No wonder I’m so creative. When sis hangs out with me, she says we’re “womb-mates’. 🙂
So thrilled you liked Tricked Truths! That’s an oldy but goodies.
Best to you,
Beth
Great interview…thanks for the contest!

I am really looking forward to the third book though I love the thought of a whole another book devoted to Ian and Francesca! Thanks for doing the interview Miss Kerry I enjoyed learning more about you its always fun to learn about the authors of the books you love!

Great interview.
What’s up next for you Beth?
Thanks for the interview and info on Beth’s serial books – I’ve read her more traditionally published books and enjoyed them – wasn’t really sure how the serial idea was going to work out but it sounds like it’s working out really well. Congrats and thanks for the giveaway
Hi, Beth! *Waves frantically because her fangirl is showing*
I adore your writing style! Utterly swoon-worthy!
Thanks for the great post! Congrats to Beth on her success 🙂 Love the few that I’ve read so far!
What inspired you to start writing?
Hi Beth,
were the beautiful pearls on the covers your idea & how do they relate to the story?
Thank you for the great interview. I can’t wait for the next installments in When I’m With You.
Thanks for sharing with us 🙂
Hi Beth! You mentioned how re-reading all three books will leave the reader finding hints that will make sense overall; is this an element that you consciously add to your work or does it just somehow manifest itself? I’m just curious because I love series that employ that kind of build-up.
Thanks for so much!
I can’t wait to read this book. It sounds really good. Please enter me in contest. Tore923@aol.com
Interesting interview, and my god your New Year’s sounds like it’ll be amazing! I’ve always wanted to go to London, and it does sound like an amazing city. I haven’t read any of your books yet, but they look really good so fingers crossed.

i like it 🙂
i wanna win the paperback …thx u 4 the chance…
I have heard so many good things about your books-they’re moving to the top of my TBR pile for sure!
I absolutely loved Because You Are Mine but gave in and starting reading them a week before the final installment came out and flew through them and had to wait. That wait seemed like pure torture! I am super excited to read the continuation of this series but I have learned my lesson and I’ll be waiting till they are all available and I don’t have to drive myself crazy wanting to know what happens next.
Thank you for the interview, I am new to your work but am looking forward to reading it all! My question would be: How did you decide to do the 8 part serial? I have seen serials work for some authors and not turn out so well for others. I am sure that each writing style also contributes to the success of the serials and I’m sure that your fan base offered their opinion before you started. I wish you much success 🙂 Thank you for the chance to win.
Thanks for the interview. I was wondering what the draw or purpose to writing serial books as aposed to novels? I ask that only because I am so impatient to read a story. lol.
So glad the serial worked out for you. Looking forward to many more stories.
Hmm, that’s weird… I posted my comment a few days back but it’s disappeared 🙁 Nvm, let’s try this again!
Great interview! 🙂 I love Ian and Francesca in Because You Are Mine and I can’t wait to read more about them as well as Lucien and Elise in When I’m With You! I’m a huge fan of Beth’s books! Wicked Burn was the first book I read from Beth after finishing Fifty Shades of Grey and since then, I’ll read anything Beth writes! Another favorite from Beth that I really enjoyed is Exposed to You too! Thanks for this amazing giveaway! I’ve been tweeting daily to get more entries and my fingers and toes are crossed! 😉 And all the best, Beth! Wishing you continued success and chart-topping sales!
