Bayou Heat Tour Stop with Laura Wright & Alexandra Ivy

COVER LOVER

Alexandra and I commissioned the amazingly talented, Tricia ‘Pickyme’ Schmitt to create our Bayou Heat covers. We wanted them to be incredible, sexy, evocative, and have that special something extra that draws readers. And as always Trish produced that and more. I actually told her recently to please start thinking about the next 3 covers in the series because I just love seeing her work J

Cover art, to me anyway, is priority #1 (after a great book, of course) when putting out a novel. It’s the very first thing we see as readers, and it must tell us about what is inside. The very best of what is inside J

So, what do you think?

Does the cover sway you one way or another?

And while we’re at it and for a BAYOU HEAT SWAG BAG

Which Bayou Heat cover is your favorite?

New Year. New World. New Species.

LEGEND OF THE PANTERA

Hidden in the depths of the Louisiana bayous, the Pantera,  have become little more than a legend to most humans. It’s rumored that in the ancient past twin sisters, born of magic, had created a sacred land and claimed it as their own. From that land was born creatures who were neither human or animal, but a mixture of the two. Faster and stronger than humans, they have hyper acute senses, and when surrounded by the magic of the Wildlands they’re capable of shifting into pumas. It was also whispered that they possess other gifts. Telepathy, witchcraft, immortality, and the ability to produce a musk that could enthrall mere mortals. Mothers warned young girls never to roam alone near the swamps, convinced that they would be snatched by the Pantera, while young men were trained to avoid hunting anywhere near the protected Wildlands. Not that the warnings were always successful. What girl didn’t dream of being seduced by a gorgeous, mysterious stranger? And what young man didn’t want to try his skill against the most lethal predators?

As the years passed, however, the sightings of the Pantera became so rare that the rumors faded to myths. Most believed the entire species had become extinct. Sadly they weren’t entirely mistaken…

I have to admit that a sexy cover sometimes convinces me to buy a book that I might not have otherwise purchased. I also have to admit that the cover for book number two is my favourite as I have a thing for backs and backsides! Lol

  8. Ashley January 9, 2013 at 7:54 am #

  9. patricia crews January 9, 2013 at 8:01 am #

icing on the cake. don’t get me wrong, a cover is something nice to drool over, but the words inside make the book, and i like to put a face of my choosing on the characters based on the writer’s descriptions. that being said, holy hell, the bayou heat covers are freakin’ GORGEOUS!!!!

    love bayon’s cover, i like a nice tookus 😉

I personally think that if the cover art looks good then that defiantly helps in choosing books and I must say I like all 3 covers of Bayou Heat but if I had to choose I’d say Raphael and Parish.

This sounds like a great new series –

I would have to say my favorite cover is the one for Book 3 Bayon and Book 4 Jean Baptiste –

Oh Yes, a cover can make or break a book. When you go to a bookstore and are looking through hundreds of books, it’s those covers that stand out that catch your eye, that you pick up and read the description to see if you want to give it a try. I have put books back because the cover was meh. But the description on the book is just as important. In some cases this is a readers first intro to the writer, their writing, and the world they want us to become addicted to. So, yes, everything on that cover is very important.

It is really hard to pick which of the Bayou Heat cover is my fave, I like the back view on Bayon/ Jean-Baptiste… However, I really like Raphael/Parish’s too. OK, so I like Talon/Xavier’s as well. Sigh, they all have… um… good qualities. But since I have a crush on Parish right now, I’ll go with Raphael/Parish’s cover 😉

  20. Josette Schaber January 9, 2013 at 12:08 pm #

OH… and I should add that I started out an art major… so color, composition,… all the design elements of a cover… really make an impact on me. 🙂

  21. Sophia Rose January 9, 2013 at 4:09 pm #

I feel like I’m confessing something really bad when I say that cover art attracts me to a book because the reverse is true too- a not so attractive cover won’t grab my initial attention. It’s not that the cover ultimately decides if I will read a book, but it sure is one of the factors that makes me choose to look it over in the first place.

These are all really nice covers. I love the color in the first one, but as to the position of the panther and the model it is the third book that I think is my overall favorite.

I hadn’t heard of this series before so thanks for the introduction.

  24. Danah January 9, 2013 at 6:49 pm #

I like the covers for books #1 & #3. The cover for #2 would be even better if the leather pants were tighter and didn’t make his hips and butt look so wide. Otherwise, they all look great.

  25. donnas1 January 9, 2013 at 9:44 pm #

Book 1 if my favorite, followed by book 2.

  26. bn100 January 9, 2013 at 11:51 pm #

I love them all, but book 1’s cover is my favorite. Tricia/Pickyme is extremely talented. And yes, a cover really does sway me when choosing a book to read or buy.

  34. Janie McGaugh January 11, 2013 at 10:52 pm #

Cover, title, and author are all things that will attract me to pick up a book to see if I might want to read it. I like Raphael’s cover best, though I like the blue color of Bayon’s best.

  35. CassandraG January 12, 2013 at 8:47 pm #

If it’s a great cover of course it’ll get my attention to pick it up and try it. They’re all good covers, but Raphel’s is a definite favorite.

  36. Marianne January 13, 2013 at 1:48 am #
