A great big thank you to Kelly for having me here today!
Years ago when I first heard of ebooks, I was hesitant and yes, wary of them. I thought they would never last. (I’m laughing at myself as I type this.) I’ve never been so glad to be wrong! Considering my views, it’s ironic enough that I got my start in publishing via digital first publishing and to date I have more ebooks than print books. And I also discovered many of my now-favorite authors through digital first publishers.
There are many reasons to love ebooks and here are some of mine:
1. I love being able to carry around an entire library in my kindle. I’m a busy mom and ebooks make daily reading so much easier.
2. Easy to purchase. I live in a small town and our one decent book store just closed down. I can drive to any of three surrounding towns to go to a bookstore but there’s no guarantee that what I want will be there. With my kindle? Chances are if I want it, I’ll be able to find it.
3. Not only is buying easy, it’s IMMEDIATE. Yes, I live in an age of ‘I want stuff immediately’ and while that attitude normally bugs me…I love being able to download a book right off my computer to my kindle without having to worry about shipping costs and waiting.
4. I can change the font size on my ebooks!
5. Without the ebook revolution it’s unlikely that my recent release, Lover’s Instinct, would be available (like how I slipped in some promo?). It’s book 1.5 in my Moon Shifter series and since it’s a novella with a traditional publisher, in the past it wouldn’t have been available except to be included in a print anthology with other authors. And since the probability of that happening is slim…it might not have ever been published.
Ebooks are fantastic for so many reasons because now readers and writers have more options! And I am all about options.
What about you? Do you like ebooks or print books better? Leave a comment to be entered to win a print copy of Primal Possession (US only), my upcoming release in the Moon Shifter series! In the meantime, Lover’s Instinct is out now.
About Lover’s Instinct:
Lupine shifter Nikan Lawless has it bad for Esperanze Cordona, the sweet and curvy woman who only views him as a friend. But when Nikan is assigned to act as Esperanze’s bodyguard during a weekend education conference, he knows it’s the perfect opportunity to seduce her off her feet—away from the pack.
To put his plan into motion Nikan cancels one of their hotel rooms, giving them time to get to know one another in a whole different way. But when a man from Esperanze’s past shows up in need of help, Nikan must shield her from a group of dangerous rogue shifters, all while trying to prove that they’re destined to be mates.
A little about Katie: I’ve been reading romance since a young age—ever since I discovered my mom’s hidden stash. Luckily the addiction stayed with me into adulthood. Thanks again for having me and thanks so much to everyone who stops by!
Love the ebook. Love being able to carry all my books with just one hand. Must of been an avid reader (woman) that came up with this idea. lol.
I love being able to have my books with me on my Nook. I also have them at home on my shelf.
I love both ebook and print. Ebooks are very very convenient. And I do love the instant gratification of being able to buy your book and start reading without getting out of your chair! Oh and packing for vacation is definitely more concenient with an ereader. But I still love to read print books now and again. In fact I have both my dreaded and about 6 print books with me at the beach! Thanks for the giveaway!

I have always been an avid reader and didn’t think I would enjoy having an e-reader. An ex bought me a Nook Color for Christmas a couple of years ago and I have to say it is the best Christmas gift EVER. I love that thing so much I named it. Yes, I’m a little off in the head. *grins* Like you, I don’t have a bookstore in town. I can drive 20 miles to the nearest B&N but they are horrible about stocking the books I want and/or need and I’m not a very patient person so waiting on mail doesn’t work for me. If a book comes out on Tuesday, I want that book on Tuesday. With my baby that’s no longer an issue. I’m able to download the book(s) I pre-ordered as soon as I wake up and know that they’re waiting on me if I have a few minutes to spare during my work day. I used to carry a book with me everywhere; now Sybil is always in my purse and I have a library just within my reach at all times. While I still buy print books, I buy mostly digital now. It’s really nice hearing about a new book or discovering a new series, being able to buy it from the comfort of your home, and being able to start reading said book within minutes. For me e-readers are the best invention since the DVR. Thanks for the opportunity! I loved Alpha Instinct and look forward to Primal Possession.
I love books, doesn’t matter if it’s a paperback, hardcover, or e-book. I always carry at least one print book with me along with my e-reader, this way I’ll have a choice of what I want to read. I love the instant gratification of ordering a book and getting it immediately on my Kindle without having to go to the bookstore. Then again, I love to walk around the bookstore for hours just looking around.
Thanks for the giveaway.

I’m really enjoying my kindle fire. it’s mind boggling on the amount of books i can store on it. so i’m constantly buying books off of amazon. i still have hundreds of paperback books that i still read, and i also have an audiobook library that is growing. i’m hooked. i love it all ! 😀
I love both ebooks and paperbacks. Before I got my kindle I would go book shopping every friday. I loved shopping for books more than I did for clothes lol I still buy paperbacks but I buy more ebooks now because my shelves are getting too full. I dont have much room for all the books and I hate giving them away 🙂 I do share them with my book club ladies but I always get them back.
Well honestly I haven’t read a book by Katie Reus just yet but I am soon so I really hope to win!!! I even have my own blog about books!
If I had the choice, I LOVE my books in print. I love having all the books on a shelf and I can go back to them whenever I want with the old fashioned dog-earred pages of my favorite parts.
I like the convenience of ebooks, but love the smell of paper books:) I do buy paper books of a my fav authors and the ones that I am just trying out will be ebook first and then if they become a fav I buy in paper. I know it might be a little weird but it works for me:)

I love ebooks but sometimes you get a better price on the print book than the ebook – I hate the way the publishers are behaving over ebooks and pricing. Otherwise I’d be all ebook all the time but for now I’m about 50/50 with ebooks and print
I love my kindle. It is nice to be able to carry a library of books with you . It also lets me get the novellas that I might not get otherwise and I get them instantly. I also like print books.
Ebooks are ok . I have a Kindle fire and though I bought it for reading I seem to do everything but read on it. lol It’s nice that you have all the books in one place and it’s easier to tote around, and read in the dark but I have a harder time really focusing on the ebooks and I can’t read for as long because the back light starts to hurt my eyes. I have been an avid reader since I was a child and I still love everything about a print book. The smell, the feel ,being able to add it to my shelf. So even though the ebooks are good I think I will always pick a print book if I have the choice. 🙂
Congrats on the new/upcoming releases! I’m so excited cuz I just got Alpha Instinct and I can’t wait to start reading 🙂
I love my Kindle. for all the reasons that you mentioned. I’m such a book nerd that I used to have a box in the trunk of my car filled w/ paperbacks so if/when I finished the current book in my purse I would always have a back up. With the Kindle, I don’t have to do that 🙂 But I still love, have and buy paper. Probably always will. But I do find myself buying new to me authors more in e-book cuz it’s cheaper. Then once I fall in love, I will probably buy the next in paper.
Well I do prefer print but I too live in a town where the only bookstore closed down( the one I worked at do I lost my job as well) the only others are in the three bigger cites surrounding my town so that’s where my ereader comes in. My ereader comes in handy especially when I want the next in series and I have to read it right now. But if I had a choice I’d definetly choose print.
I love both. When it’s an author I just love I have always purchased the print copy but lately I’m switching to the e-book if it’s not a series I’ve already begun collecting. I just have SO many books all over my house the e-books just make more sense. Thank you so much for the giveaway.
I love e-books, never thought I would, but I hardly ever read print books anymore.

I prefer print books the best. There is something about holding a book in your hand that gives you more enjoyment than an ebook. Please enter me in contest. Tore923@aol.com
I got hooked on ebooks over five years ago, and read almost exclusively on my Kindle Fire. There are still a few auto buy authors that I snag a paperback for, mostly because I already have a favorite’s shelf in my office for their books, and I love adding another great story to my shelves.

I have my most favorite series in both, but otherwise I perfer ebooks, I cant read anyone of my books at anytime. When I have to wait at Dr. or somewhere else I can read, it just makes it more enjoyable. Thx for giveaway.

Hi Katie, I love my nook. I loved the blog today.
Lorimeehan1@aol.com
I really love the print books still. When I buy a new book, even though I have to wait for shipping, it feels great to hold my new loot and fawn over it. 🙂
I love printed books but have learned to love e-books as well since I can carry hundreds of books with me instead of lugging an entire bag or box. I still order/buy printed books as I just can’t let go of them yet. Probably never will.
I prefer print over ebooks. I’m slowly getting into ebooks. I would love to win, I loved Alpha Instinct. 🙂
Ha! What a true statement! I also didn’t see this trend sticking around…good thing I don’t do stocks!
Great reasons to love an ereader. Instand gratification is awesome, and when running around with kids it is nice to have the ereader in your purse to pull out when you have 10 min to sit.
But….I still love print books. If I have the choice I will pick print every time. There have been many books I have read on my kindle that I loved so much I had to go buy them in print.
I love both print and ebooks. There are some books that I prefer to buy in print, but I do find myself purchasing more ebooks these days than print. The town I live in does not have any book stores and the surrounding ones have Wal-Marts and one small book store. Most of the books I purchase unless new releases that Wal-Mart would carry, I have to order anyway from a site like Amazon. And then I am like you and love the instant gratification of buying a book and being able to immediately read it not matter if it is 3 am, lol. And there is no shipping cost with ebooks 🙂
manning_j2004 at yahoo dot com
I love you both kind of books. But the fact the ebooks can hold tons at a time is a hugh plus.
I prefer paper books. Since I remember books by their covers, ebooks are easy for me to forget since their covers are not readily displayed on the Kindle. Also, if I lose a paperback, I’m only out about $8; if I lose my Kindle, that’s about $200 right there.
Of course, I’m been lucky enough to live in communities with good libraries so most of my reading actually comes from them, both paper and electronic (it’s how I started reading Romances in the first place: I downloaded an ebook at home from the library). There’s also a B&N relatively near by (about 20 minutes away). I still miss the local Border’s though; it had the best Romance section of any bookstore I’ve ever been in. *sigh*
Great post!!! I love the convenience of ebooks but I also love print books~nothing like the smell of a new book. I have a Nook and a Kindle but I always carry a paperback book in my purse and I have an overflowing bookshelf of print books. So although I love ebooks, I could never go without paperbacks!! Thanks for the chance to win!! I am a HUGE fan and can’t wait for the release of Primal Possession — saw the cover and love it!!! Have a great day and a great release day!!! 🙂

I used to think I would always prefer the feel of a print book in my hand as opposed to e-books, but lately I’ve had a change of heart and find that I like them a lot better than I did. Change is hard sometimes LOL!
forgot my email

I LOVE my Kindle — it is super– but nothing is as great as holding a print book in your hands and getting lost in the pages
i love paper backs !! I really dont like e-books cause i cant read very long on a computer screen.it makes my head hurt like craxy!!! i LOVE THE FRIST BOOK CANT WAIT TO GET MY HANDS ON THE 2ND!!! THANKS FOR THE CHNACE TO WIN. mandyhonea@yahoo.com
Nice list of reasons. I like print books because it’s easy to pick up where you last left off.

I think that I will always be a bigger fan of print books, but I have discovered that my e-reader has advantages in certain situations. Nowadays authors will release novellas etc that you can only get in ebook form and on certain occasions I can pick up an older book that I’ve missed that may be cheaper on my e-reader. Having that book in my hand though will always be my fav way to read. I love Katie’s books! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!! bpatrick64113@sbcglobal.net
I still prefer reading paper books to ebooks, but I do like the immediate part. Or winning an ebook, and reading it on my computer. I bought a tablet for my birthday, but so far, am not that impressed with the reader that came with it. Have to figure out how to use it better I guess.
But yes, I like the opportunities for short in-between estories to my favourite series. Makes the wait less long between books.
I’m not eEnabled, so I only read print books. Even if I was to get an eReader, I would still read mostly print books.
Thanks everyone who has stopped by so far! I’ve loved reading your various answers 🙂
I am 50/50. There are a handful of authors/series that are paper only or ebook only. I admit that I love getting new authors for my ereader because I like to use the read out loud function. jepebATverizonDOTnet
Sounds like a great story … Love the shifter stories …romance, intrigue nice !
I like both ebooks and print. They both have good points and I do like how easy it is to keep a lot of books on an ereader.
I like both! Only problem is I have to read all the ebooks on my laptop and I can just carry that around!
Congrats on the release. I do still prefer print books. But I am adjusting to a kindle. And it does have its advantages. But print does too, so im a mix
I too have given in to e-books and have discovered many authors I might not have. I still prefer print books though! Thanks for the interview.
I like both print and ebooks. I have alot of favorite books and authors where I have both print & ebooks. I do have certain authors that I have to have the book. I try out new authors more on ebooks, because the book is generally cheaper, and if it is something that I don’t like I am not out $8+ dollars. I like ebooks because they are convenient. You can take them anywhere and can have more than one book at a time. This has been great in the past when going on vacation, only need to take the nook and not 5 books with me. I have them all on the nook. I also have a kindle now and have even more books. A lot of sites offer so many free books, especially Kindle.
Thanks for the giveaway. Love Katie’s first book from the series, love werewolves.
I feel the same way! I was anti-ereader for so long until I finally broke down and got one a year or two ago. I had it for months before I used it. But, now I’m never without it. I just love the convenience of never being without a book, and the immediate gratification when I find a new book I just must read (not to mention my love affair with NetGalley!) But, there is something about a real in-your-hand book I will always cherish..my house walls are lined with books and I would never want to not see them there. Thanks for the giveaway!
print or e — I’m easy
both if I have the time..
I love Ebooks because they save a ton of space and everything you need is in one place and with Kindle also backed up on the computer. When it comes to my favorite authors or a book I really like, then i like to have a paper copy especially if it is signed 🙂
