Books-n-Kisses is super excited to welcome JD Tyler back to the blog today.
JD, Welcome to Books-n-Kisses. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down and talk with me about SAVAGE AWAKENING and what’s next for the Alpha Pack.
JD: Hi, Kelly! Thanks for inviting me back for a visit today!
Kelly: Do you need anything before we begin? Margarita?
JD: You know, even though it’s early, I’ll take you up on that! It’s that kind of day. J
Kelly: Shall we begin?
JD: I’m ready when you are! Be gentle with me…
JD: Just 5? I’d love to! Let’s see…
1) Reading! Now there’s a surprise. J
2) I love going to concerts, mostly classic rock! My must-see shows include Bon Jovi and Aerosmith. I scored really great tickets for myself, my rock guitarist son, and daughter to see Aerosmith in Dallas on July 28th, and we can’t wait!
3) One hour-massages and pedicures are a special kind of heaven for me!
4) I enjoy traveling to see friends who live out of state, especially my critique partner and fellow author Tracy Garrett, who lives in Missouri at Lake of the Ozarks. Spending a week with her on the lake is pure bliss.
5) Meeting friends for long lunches which result in copious amounts of alcohol and getting absolutely no writing done!
Q2) Tell me and readers who may have missed it before a little about your 3 pseudonyms? I mean 3… WOW!!!
JD: In addition to writing paranormal as JD Tyler, I write contemporary/romantic suspense as Jo Davis, and paranormal erotica as Jo Carlisle. Honestly, it’s not as hard as it sounds writing-wise. I work on one book at a time, and all of my focus is on that story and those characters at the moment.
Q3) Let’s talk books… Please Describe SAVAGE AWAKENING briefly for our readers.
JD: Aric Savage is the snarky redheaded wolf shifter who was taken prisoner by Orson Chappell’s evil minions at the end of PRIMAL LAW. Aric is suffering brutal experiments in the name of creating a breed of super-shifter soldiers and is losing hope for a rescue. Along comes liberation in the form of his team…and a gorgeous LAPD cop named Rowan Chase, who has joined the team in hopes of finding her missing brother and Alpha Pack member, Micah. She finds a lot more than she bargained for…
Q4) Tell us a little more about Aric. *wiggles eyebrows*
JD: Aric is a wisecracking smartass with a bit of a temper, and loves to harass the guys. He’s a Firestarter/Telekentic, so he torch stuff, or move it at will. He’s got a big heart under his prickly surface, and he’s about to meet his match in one tough, streetwise LAPD cop…
Q5) It looks like BLACK MOON is up next, which is Book 3 in your Alpha Pack series. Would you like to share a little with us?
JD: BLACK MOON is the full-length book featuring our Sorcerer/black panther/Necromancer Kalen Black and Dr. Mackenzie Grant, the lady who’ll eventually be his Bondmate. Kalen’s mind is slowly being taken over by a lethal enemy who wants to harness his power. Mac and the team will have to either save Kalen or execute him…before he destroys them all. The book releases on December 4 and promises to be explosive!
Q6) A birdie told me that you just sold books 4 and 5 of the Alpha Pack series to your publisher! Congrats! Care to tell us a bit about those?
JD: Thank you! I’m thrilled to be able to continue with the series! Book 4 is tentatively titled HUNTER’S MOON, and all I’m saying right now is that it’s a “Predator” story… the scariest monster of all is the one you can’t see…
Q7) SQUEE!! That sounds so exciting! Do you have any idea who will get Book 5 after Ryon?
JD: Thanks, I hope readers love Ryon as much as I do. J I do know who gets Book 5, but I want to keep the suspense going a little longer. (evil grin)
Q8) It was tough for you to pick a favorite pack member before. Do you have one now? If so, who & why?
JD: Yes, it’s still so hard to pick a favorite among these guys! They’re all sexy and loveable in their own way, and they’re all different, appealing to a woman’s various tastes in men. But Kalen is my favorite right now. He’s magnetic and so different, with his kohl-rimmed jade eyes, black nail polish and black rock-star hair. But he’s also very deeply hurt, lost and damaged, having been thrown out of his home at age 14 to survive on the streets. Mac is going to have to be a special woman to get through to him, and show him how to love.
Q9) Can you tell Us what you are currently working on and what’s next?
JD: Right now I’m working on BLACK MOON, which is due to my editor soon. Then I’ll be working on Book 1 of my new series SUGARLAND BLUE, being written as Jo Davis, which is a spinoff of my FIREFIGHTERS OF STATION FIVE series and stars the Sugarland Police Dept. Book 1 (title TBA) is Detective Shane Ford’s story, and I’m so happy to get started! My readers have been requesting his book for some time and I can’t wait.
Kelly: Again a HUGE thank you to JD for stopping by my blog and share with us her newest book.
JD: Thank you again for inviting me back!
Kelly: JD, What do you say we give the readers a chance to win SAVAGE AWAKENING?
JD: Sounds great! I’m giving a signed copy, so good luck, readers!

Great interview. I've not read any of JD Tyler's books but Savage Awakening sounds intriguing and I do love reading about shape shifters in particular. Will be checking her books out. Thanks.
Zsadist has always been my favorite Brother but Butch is a VERY close second! Not that I don't love all the Brothers! Thanks for the interview. I haven't read J.D. Tyler before but I will be looking into her Alpha Pack series!
Great Interview!! Primal Law is in my TBR pile patiently waiting for me to catch up on my reading. I can't wait to start this series!! I am a HUGE fan–The Firefighters series is on of my all time favorites!! I have reread them so many times and continue to do so!! Howard <3 <3 !! LOL 🙂 My fav brother is a tough choice because I love Wrath, Rhage and Z, but if I had to choose it would definitely be Z ( I love the tortured, dirty mouth, gooey inside, misunderstood, Heroes. LOL I love him with Bella–the end of his book gets me every time I read it!! Thanks for the chance to win! Have a great day!
Mariann with Belle's Book Bag
My favorite Brother is Zsadist. I have always had a soft spot for the "lost boys", and he fits that to a T. He always felt that he was not worthy of love or anything, although he was.
Loved the interview and can not wait to read the series.

Thanks for a lovely interview and giveaway! I haven't had the chance to read Primal Law, although it's on the top of my wishlist!
I'd have to say that I really Like John Matthew? It's been sooo long since I read any of the BDB books (I got series fatigue after book 4 or 5) and I know that I'm very behind.
Thanks for the great interview. It's wonderful to know the the Alpha Pack series will be continuing.
My favorite Brother is Z. Hot, tortured. I just want to help fix him.
Thanks for the giveaway.
Thanks for the great interview. My favorite brother is still Wrath because he's the king and I think the most emotionally balanced of all of the brothers. Plus I love his mate Beth.
Thanks for the giveaway!
What a great interview! I haven't read Primal Law yet. It is sitting in my TBR pile. It has been a busy couple weeks with new releases of a few series that I love. One being BDB. As for my favorite brother, toss up between V and Rhage. Rhage is so much fun and V is so intense.
So after I get caught up on my new releases, I will be reading Primal Law. And I will definitely have to check out the erotic paranormals! 🙂
Wow, I didn't realize that you were Jo. I have devoured everyone of your firefighter books at least three times. This series sounds fantastic. Great interview. I finally saw my future ex-husband (Jon) a couple of years ago in Dallas with my BFF and the hubs. Hubs was kind enough to take pictures and let me be a teenager. 🙂

Wow! This series sounds really good, I must put it on my TBR list. Do the books need to be read in order? Or can you read this one without having read the first? I do like that the hero has some unique powers. Thanks so much for the chance to win a copy of this book.

JoAnna,
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy Jax and the Pack! I'm happy you stopped by!
Harlie,
Yes, a lot of readers are still discovering my alter ego and that I've been around a few years as an author in another sub-genre. I'm so happy you've loved the firefighters! I still love them, too, which is why I'm writing the police series–we'll get to see the station 5 boys again. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
Laurie,
I hope you love Aric's story! I had such fun writing his book!

Wendy,
Thanks so much, I hope you enjoy the series! I'm the same way–when I find a new author/series I always hope there's more than one book out and that it's going to last a while. The Alpha Pack will be around for a bit!

Bon Jovi rules! I've seen them 7 or 8 times now! They're fantastic.
I'm glad you stopped by! I hope you enjoy the series!
June,
Thanks so much, I do hope you enjoy the Pack should you give them a try! The books don't have to be read in order. I try to put enough info in each so the reader can easily get the picture of their world. Their unique "gifts" besides shifting are a cool bonues–well, plus they're hot! 🙂
I hope you enjoy the series! Thanks for coming by!
Ruth,
Isn't Bon Jovi awwwwesome?! Luuuv them!

"hell" J.D.! I think that is so funny, because I told my co-worker yesterday that I learned all kinds of new expletives from Savage Awakening! Jesus Christ in a tutu!LMFAO! Rowan was all kinds of amazing! and Eric? Well, he was just yum! I LOVED Eric and I love Nick, But, I have to agree Kalen is my fav so far too!
Tamara,
*"hell" J.D.* LoL, I'm glad you took me at my word–we're all friends here, and what's a curse word or 2 between friends? 🙂 I'm born and raised Texan and cuss that way too. "Jesus Christ on roller skates" is uttered among my cowboy friends and relatives, but I like " in a tutu" better!
I'm happy you enjoyed Savage!! I can't wait to finish Kalen's book and get it in the works… it's going to be explosive! tease, tease…
I have seen Aerosmith and BonJovi in concert. Both great shows:) I love that my teenage daughter loves going to concerts now I have someone to go with 🙂 thanks for the give away:)
HI 🙂 Just wanted to tell Ms. Tyler(Davis, Carlisle) that I really enjoy her books. Waiting for my public library to get 'Savage Awakening' in. I totally love the firemen & now the pack. <3
Hi J.D! I just finished Jax's book and loved it! I can't wait to read Savage Awakening. Thanks for the awesome giveaway.
Sharon,
I've seen Aerosmith twice and I can't wait for their show in July! My teenage son is a serious rock guitarist and he loves to go with me. I have the best concert date in the world! 🙂
You're very welcome, I hope you enjoy the series. Thanks for stopping by!
Leann,
Thank you so much! It's a thrill to know you loved the firemen! I can't wait to get back to Sugarland. 🙂
I hope you love Aric's story, too! It was such fun to write. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
Hi Barb,
I'm so happy you loved Jax's story! I feel blessed to be able to write about their world. I hope you enjoy Aric's story just as much!
Thanks for coming by!
I love the short story you wrote about Kalen. I cannot wait until his full book..
Also looking forward to Shane Ford’s story.
You keep writing and I will keep reading them 🙂
This book sounds incredibly interesting…like I'd not want to put it down until I'd turned the last page!
Thanks for the giveway.
lgm52@hotmail.com
Cindy,
I'm so glad you enjoyed Kalen's short story! He's got big trouble coming, and it's going to be devastating for the Pack. I'm writing his book now, and it's very raw…
I'm looking forward to Shane's story too! Thanks so much, and Happy Reading!
Thank you LGM! Should you give it a try, I sure hope you're engrossed to the last page. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
GREAT interview…I can't wait to meet your Alpha Pact! Sounds like a FAB series and I too am really happy to hear that you have already planned forward for many books to come. Like some of the others have mentioned…I like getting vested in a series. Your covers are SMEXY too, btw…yum! The other series you've mentioned…written under your alter egos sound really good too…I'll have to check those out as well. Question…why so many names/alter egos? Why not just write using one name? Thx for this AWESOME giveaway op! 🙂
barbbattaglia @ yahoo.com
I love the idea that the hero is rescued by the heroine. I haven't started this series yet but it sounds like something I will really enjoy. Congratulations on the new release!

Your books sound really interesting! I love shifters!! >< This book is definitely going onto my to-read list!
Barbara,
Thank you so much! I sure hope you enjoy the series! I luv my covers too–kudos to the art dept. 🙂
Good question on writing under one name. Some authors do, but I'm one of the authors who feel my 3 genres are different and readers expect different types of books. I guess it's whatever works for that author!
Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you, Stacie! I hope you enjoy the book should you give it a try. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
Elain,
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the interview! I don't have a margarita right now, but Chardonnay is a close 2nd. 🙂

The Alpha Pack series sounds fantastic and I need to start this series right away. 😀
I've been hearing such good things about your new book, I can't wait to read it. Three pen names? Do you have one website for all three or try to do promo for each one by itself? I always thought that would be very difficult!
Aric sounds smoking!!!I love reading about Alpha Males! In the BDB series I loe John Matthew the most; we got to read about his life before the transition and afterwards during the whole series. I've loved him from the start!
JD is a new author for me. The Alpha Pack series sounds awesome. I love shifter stories. Love the cover. Thanks for the giveaway.
