Interview with Liz Borino

Welcome to For the Love of Books Liz. Thank you for stopping by to answer a few questions.

For the Love of Books: Tell us a little about your 1st book Expectations:

Liz: Expectations depicts the struggle between what we desire for ourselves and our familiar obligations. This is personified by Chris and Matt Taylor, identical twins who are trying to win their overbearing father’s approval and acquire their trust funds. Their best friend and roommate, Aiden O’Boyle, left his family behind in Ireland to pursue a career in dance.
Robert Taylor, Matt and Chris’s father has set certain conditions that must be met in order for them to receive their trust funds. Matt must work at a job he hates while struggling with alcoholism. Chris has to deny his own desires and deep love for Aiden, to get married to Matt’s girlfriend. All the while, their father continues to use extreme measures to ensure his sons’ compliance. Will they learn to lean on each other and discover their strength or succumb to their father’s will?

FLB: How did you come up with this story?

Liz: I adore writing stories about brothers and I find the twin connection fascinating. But this story came from reading The Secret and wondering, is there a downside to living the life of your dreams?

FLB:  What was the hardest part about writing Expectations?

Liz: Um sex scenes between Chris and Aiden. What? They both had to be hard…oh not what you meant. No, seriously, that took a little education from a bisexual man.

FLB:  In book 2 What Money Can’t Buy we find the guys (Chris, Aiden & Matt) in a pretty good place waiting for babies.  But that doesn’t last very long.  Tell us a little more about what we can expect in What Money Can’t Buy.

Liz: Of course I can’t let them stay in good places for long! Carley (Matt’s girlfriend) is on bed rest and so moody. Robert has a female nurse who causes all sorts of trouble. Aiden falls dancing and gets injured, thus threatening his career. So, no good places. J

FLB: What is up next for Chris, Aiden, Matt and the gang?

Liz: Well, A Change of Heart is probably going to focus more heavily on Matt’s story. I think that’s as much as I can say without giving too much away.

FLB: Have you always wanted to be an author?

Liz: It seemed the sanest way to deal with the voices in my head. And hey I could get paid! Wait, that’s a myth I think. Authors are paid in reviews. Until we get enough of those to warrant money.

FLB: What is the best piece of advice you can give any budding new author?

Liz: If you can stop, do. Only pursue this if you can’t do anything else. It’s a lot of heart break if you can just go to a 9-5.

FLB: What are your writing rituals?  Anything you have to have when writing?

Liz: No rituals, actually. I write when I wake up, so Snapple.

FLB: Do you have plans for more books after you are done telling Chris, Matt & Aiden’s stories?

Liz: What are plans?

FLB: Anything else you would like to add?

Liz: Thank you for reading! I’d love to hear from you in the comments or over at my fan page. http://www.facebook.com/lizborino

If you purchase What Money Can’t Buy, I’ll mail you a signed postcard. Thanks, Kelly!

FLB: Thank you so much Liz again for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down with me and talk about your books.
