My thoughts:

First I want to thank Devyn for sending me Darkness Descending for early review.  And no I am not just being nice Devyn when I say “Darkness Descending SO DOESN’T suck!!!!”

Next, I was sucked into this book just by reading the prologue. Therefore I would like to share it with you:

Enjoy:

Prologue
This is a tale that has been told time and time again; the battle of good versus evil, light versus dark.
There are as many versions as there are stars in the sky.
And it’s all true.
The story, however, is only halftold.
Thousands of years ago, one of the most favored archangels challenged the highest power of heaven.
Jealous of the freedom accorded to newly created humans, he demanded free will for all angels. The
confrontation fractured heaven, creating a legion of upstarts. But far from denying them, heaven granted
these angels what they so desired.
But the gift came at a terrible price. Almost immediately, the angels felt a dark presence, born of
greed, stir within. Fear rippled throughout the ranks, but it was too late to beg forgiveness. For their
blasphemy, their bodies were torn asunder and reborn in fire, the blood in their veins cursed for all time.
Their wings were torn from their monstrous bodies, and they took on the look of beasts.
The accursed beings were cast out of heaven, made to wander Earth for all time. Humans were given
the sanctuary of Eden to protect them from the encroaching evil, but free will once again proved to be
both blessing and curse, and they began to travel far and wide beyond the haven. Eventually, Eden
became no more than a mirage, its location lost in the sands of time.
The fallen angels quickly discovered men, and it was then that they felt the first pull of bloodlust. The
seeds of their revenge were sown, and they fed upon humans, integrating themselves into society.
Vampirism spread slowly, giving foul birth to a demon race that called itself the Telave.
Eden is now lost, and no place on Earth offers shelter as those of the Telave continue to build their
army of undead soldiers, biding their time to wage war on heaven and Earth. They move virtually
undetected, cloaked in the shadowy mantle of human ignorance and denial.
But heaven has not forsaken the weak and defenseless. The most faithful of angels were sent to mate
with human females, giving rise to a race of holy warriors strong enough to withstand the unholy invasion
of the vampiric virus.
However, the warriors are spread thin as the demonic plague escalates. Their victories are few; the
casualties many.
A savior to lead them has long been promised.
But the centuries have passed, and no savior has arrived . . .
When she does, the fate of the world will rest in her hands.

Darkness Descending is the first book in Devyn’s Vampire Armageddon series. In Darkness Descending we meet Jesse (our heroine) she has been through hell in the last year.  Being attacked by demons, losing her sister, being arrested and as if things couldn’t get worse she is hanging out in a cemetery.  Jesse is waiting to take her revenge on the monsters that attacked her and killed her sister.  As with everything else in the past year her attack plan only leave her getting attaché again.  But this time she won’t go down without a fight.
The last thing Maddox expected to this night at the cemetery was a young girl trying to kill a freshly turned vampire.  But doing his job he takes out the vampire and saves the young woman.  But this young woman is not what she seems to be. Maddox takes Jesse under his wing in hope to teach her how to protect herself while fighting vampires.  But while helping Jesse, Maddox has to face down his own demons and the growing feelings he has for Jesse.  But this time Maddox may have waited too long.

I LOVED this story!!!! Devyn sucked me in from the beginning of the prologue.  I hate to say that I love see characters struggle, but I do. And boy do these characters struggle.  Each of these characters have demons they have to face.  Choices to make.  Destiny’s to fulfill.

I really can’t wait to see where Devyn takes us next with Maddox, Jesse and crew.
