BOOK SYNOPSIS:
New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery’s classic blend of lighthearted humor and intense emotional conflict works its magic on two newcomers to the California town of Fool’s Gold, which Library Journal calls “a setting so real and appealing readers will want to start scoping out real estate.”

Destiny Mills believes passion has its place—like in the lyrics of the country songs that made her parents famous. After a childhood full of drama and heartache, she wants a life that’s calm. Safe. Everything that Kipling Gilmore isn’t. Her temporary assignment with the Fool’s Gold search and rescue team puts her in delicious proximity to the former world-class skier every day. Part of her aches to let go for once…the rest is terrified what’ll happen if she does.

Though an accident ended his career, Kipling still lives for thrills—and a hot fling with a gorgeous redhead like Destiny would be a welcome diversion. Yet beneath his new co-worker’s cool facade is a woman who needs more than he’s ever given. With her, he’s ready to take the risk. But love, like skiing, is all about trust—and before you soar, you have to be willing to fall.

KELLY’S REVIEW:
4 Hearts As always my trip to Fool’s Gold is meet with a roller coaster of emotions. Highs, lows , happy, sad, unsure and really wanting to throw some plates. But Ms. Mallery has a way of bring together all those emotions into a great story that will leave you wanting to keep turning the page when you reach the end.
In Hold Me we get to learn a lot more about the man behind G-Force. Kipling is way more than just Shelby’s brother. Way more than just an Olympic Skier who had a terrible accident. Kipling is pretty much everything you are looking for in a man, partner or friend. His only flaw? He likes to fix things. Mostly people’s problems, and unfortunately this can lead to people thinking that he sees them only as a project.
Destiny Mills is new in town. She is only here to get the new search and rescue program up and running then she is out. But fate has a much much much different plan for Destiny. Not only is she now the guardian of a half sister she knew nothing about. But the man that will change everything in her life just walked into her office.

Again, this was a great book. I have loved every visit I have made to Fool’s Gold. I can’t wait to go back.

KIMBERLY’S REVIEW:
4 Hearts Another wonderful visit to Fool’s Gold. The town that Susan Mallery has made up and yet so many of her readers want to live.

I will say that as much as I enjoyed this visit back to my favorite fictional vacation spot this was not one of my favorite books in the series. But considering it is the 16th in the series and I still gave it 4 stars I think that is saying something. It is a wonderful book. But sadly after reading all 16 of the books this was just not the greatest. Again that being said it is well worth the read.

It might have been that neither Kipling nor Destiny is from the town. Off hand I can not remember if there has been another outsider couple that have come to town to fall in love. Seems to be someone is always an insider but not this time. There was a lot of the same sentences to help us understand the backstories of both characters so that might have been it too. I enjoyed the cameos of the past couples (which I always appreciate) as well. This couple just did not do it for me like the couples of Fool’s Gold usually do.

Now all that being said I LOVE the Fool’s Gold series and REALLY LIKED this story. If I had read it as a stand alone it might be one of my favorite but comparing it (fairly or unfairly) to the rest of the series it just doesn’t stand the test. I will be picking up the next in the series and can’t wait for my next visit to the town of my (and many readers) dreams.
